I will never rent from Avis again. I shopped around for rental cars before my trip to Tampa Florida on October 18th. In comparing prices all were around $300 range and I thought Avis would be a good choice at a price of $287.95. However, when I arrived to pick up my car I was told that there was a "discount code" on my reservation & I needed some ID for the code or membership. I explained that I never entered any code. The clerk said he could not honor my reservation price and the rental car would now cost me over $700 for the 4 days. This left me stranded in the Tampa airport with no way to get to my destination which was New Port Richey 40 miles away. I left the counter and called Avis customer service. The first person I spoke to for about 20 minutes said she was sorry that there was nothing she could do. I told her that was completely unsatisfactory that I was stranded at the Tampa airport and I requested she transfer me to a supervisor. The supervisor Debbie came on and I went over all the information. I explained that nowhere on my reservation did it state that in order to receive the rate that was quoted I would be required to provide proof of membership or employment in some organization & that any coupon code must have been added on the website since I never entered any coupon code. After another 15 -20 minutes with Debbie she told me she would put a generic coupon code on the reservation and honor my rate of $287.95 and I could go to the counter and they would rent me the car at that price. I feel that your practices are dishonest. I think it is horrible that you would bait and switch like this. I compared pricing on cars for 4-6 weeks before my trip and no company was anywhere near $700+ dollars so that was simply taking complete advantage of someone in a desperate situation. How would I ever get to my destination without a rental car so you know that I am going to need to pay whatever you are charging. I will never consider Avis in the future.

I got off my plane and rented a car online. The company was York car rentals, and I've never heard of this company, and I was a little specious. When I finally arrived at the rental lot, which is a trek to get to. I saw all these other popular car rental names but not York. I asked one of the guess at Dollar car rental, and he never heard of them. So I asked him for his cheapest car quote, and his was outrageous. I walked out of his place of business to see if I could find a kiosk to ask questions, and their were none. I thought this was a scam and got scared someone was stealing my info and canceled my reservation. I looked on my phone to find my reservation, and it said York company was downstairs next to the public busses. I walked downstairs, and I saw no sign only for public busses. I called priceline to see what is up, and they couldn't help me. Be cautious. TPA needs a list of the off-site rental company names with a sign for directions.

Worst car rental experience ever! Waited in line close to an hour to pick up the car, even with a reservation. When we got to our assigned vehicle, it had almost 30,000 miles on it, had significant damage in multiple places, and was close to 3 years old. Had to go all the way back to rental counter inside the airport because none of the employees on the lot would help us. Assigned a different car that wasn't much better, but by that time we were so tired we just took the second car. Signs everywhere about extra cleaning done for Covid, but freshly "washed" cars still had bird poop on them sitting in a covered garage, so it's hard to believe any special care was given to cleaning the inside. Hard upsales pitch on everything from prepayment of tolls to extra coverage and car upgrades. AVOID!

We rented from Thrifty. This will be the last time I rent from them. It was part of a bundle with my airline. I tried to verify the rental before we departed but they had no way to very since it was done through the airline. When we arrived in Tampa the line from check in was crazy long. It took 90 minutes to get to the counter. When I final got to the car it had scratches, dings, and a cracked windshield. Getting out of the parking garage was a hassle too. They had signs directing you to the thrify exit, but when you get their the exit was closed and said to go to the hertz exit. This was a problem too several of us drove around until we could find a way to get over to the hertz side. Most of the lanes were blocked. Worst rental car experience of my life and I rental cars for 25 years.

Ok. Many misses here. Variables possibly. A national high school soccer meet was there getting cars or suvs. Maybe new, untrained employees. The line barely moved. Took an hour to get to the counter.then, the person on the other side wanted me to upgrade because the car that I had picked out and agreed to online was not ready. I said no. The price doubled. I said no, stick to the old online price. Ok, but insurance will make your price go over $400. I said I don't need YOUR insurance..ok.. let me get the manager..then he wanted me to agree to and initial to yes, insurance. I caught it. That's a NO! Then we can fill up the gas tank....How much? $9.90 a gallon. Ha ha. Budget people were close to bait and switch grifters..these people are crooks..who trained themnot using them again!!

Worst experience of any car rental. Stay away. We had rented a cars from Thrifty and another a week later from Dollar rental during the memorial weekend. Both rentals services are under the same company so located on the same both and same 3 people working on both sides. We ended up waiting over 45 mins in the lines and then another hour n half at the desk coz they didn't have class of the car we had booked. When asked to just downgrade our car so we can get out faster, they said it will be $45 a day extra. The manager wasn't any help as she wouldn't downgrade or upgrade our car for less money which should have been free since they didn't have any full size cars. We won't be going back to it unless it's a last source.

We used the Enterprise rental and were very pleased! The process once you get to the airport was amazing! I was able to skip the counter and go directly to get the car and that was quick and easy! The communication prior to getting there was a lot more difficult. Our flight was really delayed and we were just trying to communicate with the local area to keep them posted and that was a nightmare! Speaking with the main number and asking to be transferred was impossible and making sure that someone would be there since we were arriving late at night was all that we were trying to do. But the car and process once there and returning the car was the best.

  • Sandra Dee

I love it I also got a vehicle and I had no issues with that my mom loved ❤️ her experience in Florida TAMPA ST.PETE only thing I wasn't planning on renting a vehicle this time but my 81years young mother was kinda tired of walking in the same area so she wanted to see more than the beach area it was Hilarious what she said to me I'm dark enough I Don't need to continue to be on the beach let's see more of Tampa so I had to rent the vehicle and it worked out so thanks dollar rental on st.pete Beach ⛱️ and I was able to return the vehicle to the airport Hooray !!

  • Rocketman Mendez

The travel to the tram is just as Miami Int'l, that being said getting to the car you must remind yourself of the floor it's on, I was concerned about the vehicle I had due to the scuffs it had, see the pics, but always take pictures anyway, I spoke to the final checker on the way out and expressed my concerns she said it was quite the norm for me not to worry as they alot for those type of chips and scuffs no charge, that was great but always do a complete check of your rental and take a few minutes to acclimate yourself with the vehicle before driving off! Great staff.

  • Sharhonda Garrett

For someone without family in the area this would have been a mess, but i have family to help out on a 3day vacay that turned into a week because I miss my 1st reservation because I was stranded in Baltimore due to weather, when we arrived in Tampa the rental car center was over booked and deposits were $400 without a credit card and closing, day 2 no cars, by day 3 I was able to reserve a car with Avis/Budget and my week day trip was nice afterwards and touch free.

  • Mark French

One of the better airport car rental logistical systems. Travel from boarding gate to rental area takes a while, requires 2 separate tram rides, and escalators and walking, but it's easy to do, easy way finding. Efficient car pickup, return/drop off. Tricky exit from rental car garage to find desired highway to destination. Traffic into and out of airport can be terrible, and i-275 gridlocked in morning and afternoon hours well into late evening. Check your route.

  • Stormie Pollard

Overall it's okay. But I can only give three stars since I had to circle around because the signage is confusing. If you are trying to go to level two the arrow for level 1 is just below number two so you think you need to take the first exit, you don't. And then you have to literally go through that rental car area go back down circle the airport and start over again. I will say that to have a backdrop at the train to the terminal though which is nice!

  • Chimere oronzi

We had a horrible experience due to having to wait in line for over an hour. Luckily, once we were assisted, the customer service representative at the front desk was very helpful. However, the staff in the garage where we picked up our rental were not helpful at all. We paid for our rental almost 3 months ago and was told they didn't have any cars that fit the description of the car we reserved. This was (Dollar Rental) to be more specific.

  • Rod Rodriguez

Visited Triffty wow they gave me a electric car I didn't ask or rented a electric car I came down to Tampa my dad got a operation as I was fighting to change the car 2 managers and a Forman didn't help the workers were very apologetic but they told me 25 dollars a day more for a gas car so sax I didn't get to see my dad before he went into the operating room never again will I think or tell anyone to use then wow very hurt person right now

  • Lisa Dean

My first time in Tampa and had never done the tram to the rental cars so I wasn't sure of the whole process. The workers were a little rude. I ordered Economy and he tried to upsell the Corolla 'for not much more', I declined but was given an SUV. ‍♀️. Drop off was pretty clear cut but that worker was just blah about her job too. The vehicle was nice and I enjoyed my time in Florida.

  • Jody Ruehl

It was a total rip off! They are not anywhere near the airport. They don't tell you that. They take you to their lot. It is pretty far away. Then they only take a few of the larger car insurance co or you have to buy their expensive insurance. Also want to charge you for a toll bridge fast pass. It was the cheap until they get you out there and start adding fees!!! AVOID!!!

  • Lori M.

Always quick, in & out. Some renta compnies easier and quicker than others, FOR SURE. Alamo & Budget have always been a positive experience. Went with Thrifty last time, ugh. Customer Service man was super kind, but picking up the car and driving out, very very very slow. Have patience. Felt very strange to wait till we were driving away to get the vehicle damage report.

  • Vee Hammonds

Alamo is wonderful! Rent from Alamo! Just show your ticket and get in & ride. The service is always top-notch. Had a very bad experience with Avis. Ladies issuing car had an attitude and was not following directions for class of car rented. Chatted more with her coworker than customers & jacked up the reservations so I would not be given an option to survey her service.

  • Alexis G.

Very fast easy process for gold member. They were out of the car type I booked which was full size so they upgraded me for free to a mustang. The man at the gate was rude when I was leaving though. He implied I took the wrong vehicle and was trying to get away with something. After calling down to verify that I was indeed in the correct car, everything was good.

  • Gary C

Rented from Thrifty. Long wait to get car despite having reserved and paid 2 months prior. Received a compact car, not a mid sized. Car had damage all over and attendant would not let us fill out report. We took pictures but not happy about that. Car had 58,000 miles, needed some suspension work but was clean, at least. We would not rent from them again.

  • PAUL RITZ

This rental car facility is an automated train easy ride from the landside of the airport. The facility has several rental agencies under one roof with the cars all in the attached deck. Open virtually around-the-clock for passenger convenience. The big names like Hertz and Avis as well as smaller Sixt and Fox are here. I use this on all my trips to TPA.

  • J JJJ

Love Tampa Airport overall. Everything is well laid out including the Rental Car Area. As soon as I was driving my rental back into the parking garage, I received a text message saying I have been checked in. It would be nice for the rental car folks to remind people to check gloves compartments and under seats in case we forget anything.

  • thanh n

The budget counter check out a car to another person and change my reservation to his name. I know there are a lot of nguyen's, but to change a name of a reservation is not except able. Good thing they had plenty vehicles. The worst part is they said they voided the other person's contract but still returned that person's car under my CC.

  • Shahedul Islam

Been there several times. The facility IS IMPRESSIVE really well planned. There's trains to and from the main terminal. The number of rental services are pretty good. We found dollar,thrifty,hertz...almost all major players . Both pick up and drop options are really convenient. Just make sure you have valid credit cards Not DEBIT cards.

  • Nyor Mirror

The TPA vehicle rental center takes 2 trains/monorails, 3 escalators and a little bit of walking to get to and from so allow yourself extra time. Signage is good and it is easy to get in and get out with your rental vehicle. They are NOT 24 hours so make sure to check what extra steps you may need to take after hours.

  • Jackie Lee

Catch the train to the rental car center. Some have fast check in kiosk like Enterprise. However, I never have to wait too long even when I choose one without the kiosks. It’s easy to get in and out of. Check the escalator signs before you get on! They each go to a specific floor. Learned that the hard way lol!

  • Conrad D'Souza

Almost perfectly planned. Only issue, and not a small one but one that may only be encountered in seldom cases is that the pickup for someone who is not flying out is in the remote terminal and the inobtrusive dog-leg to get in there from the main drive is so inconspicuous that the Uber driver missed it twice!

  • KrodATC68W

Use ANY other rental place Budget/AVIS. Reserved a car and paid for it upfront through a 3rd party agency. Go to pick it up and they slip in extra perks like upgrading the car which is more expensive or add extra insurance or unlimited toll passes. Spend 2 days trying to get refunds for things I didn't order.

  • josh schille

Best experience I have ever had. Wonderful car that was in great shape with a full tank of gas and they got me exactly what I wanted. Staff was extremely happy and polite. I was very easy and quick, even the return was fast. Question is would I do it again.... yes,yes and yes. Thanks Enterprise!

  • Rick Kessell

My wife and I rented a Chevy Malibu. The car was clean, and ran well. Pickup, and drop-off in the garage area was very smooth. The only snag, a long wait in line to get to an agent at the rental counter. Probably in line a half hour or so. But other then that, the experience was fine.

  • Chris Barbour

Very easy checkin process. Very efficient. Be aware that rentals are based on 24 hours. So if you get the car at noon and then let's say you're return fight isn't until 6pm plan on having the car back at noon or pay for another 24 hrs if you don't want to bring it back till 2 or 3.

  • Julie Wright

Perfect if you are an advantage customer. You don’t have to speak to the counter, you go to your car on the lot and your keys will be in the car ready to drive off of the lot. The lady at the gate will examine your identifying documentation and pass you through the gate.

  • Bill Bates

Big, airy area, with all R-A-C places. Some very crowded, some empty. Rates fairly much the same. Garage is a bit confusing, but not bad. Helpful people, trying to push people to 'self-service' machines. Not many takers... I was able to rent car & get through in 20m.

  • Jenni Boots

We thought our travel agent had booked a vehicle. When we arrived, there was no reservation. A young man helped us get a very good "walk up" deal. The kind soul where we picked up the car allowed us to upgrade to a SUV for the same price. We were truly blessed.

  • Sean Warr

You can't ask for a better car rental center. Easily accessible, centrally located, good signage, and very well maintained. Only a couple stops away on the skyconnect train. From dropping off your rental to ticketing or check in is about 10 minutes. Easy day.

  • Oscar Concha Jr

Really good service department. I guess it helps being a Hertz President Circle members. We enjoyed the Tesla Rental we had. Just an FYI it's about 30% of battery from Tampa to Orlando so if you pay the extra $35 to return the rental with 10% battery.

  • Laura Carregal

We rented from Budget. They gave us a roomy new Kia Sorrento. Clean, lots of upgrades. It rode beautifully. So much room for luggage. Lots of leg room. Very easy pickup and drop off. Price couldn't be beat. Located right in the airport. So convenient

  • D Pierce

Beyond slow. 2 customers at counter, 2 in line before us. 8 customers behind us were taken to another counter. They were all taken care of and we were still waiting! Counter clerk was pleasant and helpful. Car was clean but not much to choose from.

  • Lisa Lamb

I've never experienced such a smooth and wonderful experience with renting a car. I rented my car from Dollar and the car, the staff and everything else was impressive. Literally took me less than 25 minutes to get my car and get on my way.

  • Chris Rakunas

while it might seem a little weird to give a review for a car rental place, I do have to say that this is one of the fastest experiences I've ever had at an airport car rental center. About the worst part of it is the fact that we took the

  • Autumn Rayn

Plane landed a little early, came in and saw about picking up the car, due to our early arrival lady at the desk, made us wait 3 hrs to get our car we had already scheduled for. So most of our morning we were running late.. not happy.

  • Tamsey Kimbrell

I went online to rent a car from airport, found the cheapest one for economy car. Turned out it was from SIXT. Plane was running late so I tried to let them know I would be there late, never got through. So plane landed a tad before

  • Eric DeLaBruere

My favorite Airport car rental place ever. It's so convenient. Just dropped the car off and walk over to the tram that takes you straight to the terminal. No Buses to wait for or take you to some remote location. Incredibly seamless.

  • Ke Beckum

Rented through Thrifty and didn’t have any issues. I will suggest that they offer a pass for customers not familiar with the tolls. I received a bill for unpaid toll road that I passed. I’ll definitely mention it the next time

  • John Horsley

. Could not land here, got diverted to orlando instead, doller would not help to swap our car hire to orlando Instead so ended up getting a $300 taxi back to tamper jto pi k uup our hire cars. We were not impressed... .. …

  • Roland Graham

So, I usually don't bother with negative reviews, but this one is extremely deserving of Alamo car rentals located at Tampa International Airport, and it's strictly pertaining to Alamo. First off, the customer service SUCKS,

  • Patty Cannon

Easy to find and very accessible but the Enterprise guy was aggressively pushing us to use kiosks vs waiting to speak with a live person. Kiosk didn't work and we lost our place in line. Don't be bullied into using a kiosk!

  • Zephyrus Anemoi

Rented a specific car from Sixt I was looking forward to test drive only to be told it was no longer available, and charged for an upgrade. The staff was somewhat nice but their policy are not flexible or customer friendly.

  • Marc Massella

Used "SIXT" agency. They did not have convertible when we arrived for us. The Mgr went above and beyond to rectify the situation and resolved issue in a very timely manner with an upgrade, we will use them again for sure !

  • C F Davis

We ended up having to get a 2nd car because the first car was reeking of weed. The 2nd car, had so much dust on the radio and dashboard I ended up sanitizing the car before I felt comfortable. We rented from budget

  • Tony Duncombe

Great for car rentals apart from Dollar and Thrifty. Queuing over 30 minutes after a long flight is annoying. I thought it was like the 90's waiting in line for a car rental avoid these places 1 star for them

  • Josie Drago

The GPS system they gave me died the next day, so paying rental for it for 4 days was a waste. I had to call the destination place to get direction. I told them it died but didn't get a refund for its rental

  • Steve P

Lots of car rental agencies located here. Desks are in the terminal, then you have to go to level 4 and take the sky train over to the rental car parking garage for a number of the main rental agencies.

  • Domingo Mojica

The best one in the country. LOVE how you can remotely checkin your bags and get your ticket. I was hopeful that ORD would have done the same, but no way. Cause Chicago is the city that does NOT work!

  • Debbie Mazzonne

We had a great experience. We used Dollar and their line wasn't as bad as the others so that's probably why are experience was better than others. Customer service was good. The car we had was nice

  • Scott Foust

I felt like I was on the Enterprise from Star Trek! What a beautiful and efficient facility! Both pick-up and drop-off were so easy and the tram to the main terminal runs every 3 or 4 minutes.

The gentleman that was at ACE car rental on Thursday night around10pm was phenomenal he went above and beyond. It's good to know some people still provide good customer service.

  • Robert Castellano

Easy to find and get out of. Train ride was better than expected. Not sure why escalator goes from first floor to 3rd bypassing the second floor. A bit inconvenient for Hertz.

  • DJ Ehling

Rental center is in a separate building from terminal. Take train to car rentals. If you rent from Enterprise, and are already checked in prior to arrival, you go

Rental process was efficient and easy to navigate, however it took almost an hour to leave the parking structure at the Enterprise exit due to staffing shortages.

Enterprise was awesome. Super easy check in, and return the car. Super great. Next time we are going to rent an exotic car. To have some fun. …
