REMINDER: ALWAYS GET A SECOND QUOTE My wife and I decided upon Tapp as our go-to electrical team shortly after moving into our house 5 years ago. We originally had some pendant lights installed at a reasonable cost (after multiple quotes). After gaining our trust, we had Tapp upgrade our battens to downlights, and install security sensors, fans, outdoor lighting, bathroom heatlamps, and AV cabling - a whole range of services over multiple visits, which have left us very happy. Tapp was out as recently as 6 weeks ago to install another downlight. Having recently signed up to upgrade our NBN to FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), we learned that conduit would need to be installed independently before the NBN cabler could complete his work. This is a simple 2~3 meter run from our NBN junction box to an outside-facing wall in the walk-in robe. Although not a tradesperson myself, I have enough practical knowledge to understand the rough scope of works (3~4 sheets of roofing to be lifted, conduit placed, silicon or fixtures to secure in place as required). Maybe 90 minutes work for someone unskilled such as myself. I requested Tapp quote the works, as I'm too lazy to do the work myself, and have work right through XMAS. My mental cut-off point was $150... maybe a little bit more if I was feeling particularly lazy. To summarise: a short run of plastic tubing inside the roof, so the NBN man can do his work, with a string running through. $935.84..... Nearly a thousand dollars. Non-emergency, to be completed after the second week of January 2023. For reference, we paid $215 to install an additional downlight on an existing circuit in November 2022 - one month earlier. Actual electrical work, with a certificate of compliance. This is your reminder, folks. Get that second quote. I hope there aren't people out there scammed into paying such ridiculous amounts. I find legitimate pity and concern for those who don't know better. There is always a reasonable threshold for a business to add its margin - I believe most consumers accept this in any transaction they enter. Based on my previous jobs through Tapp, I would guess no less than a 400% mark-up here. It is dishonest and lousy.

Issues with Tapp Electrical include: - Bloated time for the work. - When we asked for an estimate at the end of the job we were told this was not possible because of the software accounting system used by - Tapp Electrical. - Weak arguments in response to the concerns we raised. The work: A spot of rain and worn electrical cabling to the shed caused a short in the electrical system. This was self-diagnosed and related to Tapp when booking the call-out. A tradesperson came out the next day. The work replacing the cabling and a junction box took about 30 minutes. Also, I agreed to have the fuse box checked for other faults. A small anomaly was found, but no remedial work was done to fix it. Pros: The work was of a good standard. Cons: The response to our enquiry took more than one week. The labour charge seemed bloated for the job and was poorly argued when we questioned it ( 1 ¾ hours). The argument offered by Tapp Electrical was that the van sync’d to a GPS system was in the driveway for that amount of time charged. A further argument included that you signed in a blank box on an electronic device. And our favourite – an inability to provide an estimation is normal because of the billing software. Our Thoughts Clearly we did not ask how long the van was parked on the driveway, we wanted to know if it should have been in the driveway for that amount of time. Catch 22 for signing in a blank box on an electronic device, if we had refused until we received an estimate the van would have been in the driveway longer and we would have been charged a more for labour. We were extremely concerned that we had to trust someone who cannot estimate their time (not the time the van is parked in the driveway) and multiple this by the company labour charge, then add the cost of materials, but is working on your electricity. Would you recommend this company? No.

Tapp Electrical assisted us with replacement and installation of new LED downlights and fittings at our home, and the outcome exceeded our expectations. Simon provided us with a great value quote which was provided in a clear and simple quotation form. Connor and apprentice Jack then completed the works which took 1.5 days to complete. Each day Connor and/or Jack arrived promptly and we received a text message when they were on their way to our property, which was greatly appreciated. The quality job Connor and Jack undertook was fantastic. They supplied and installed the quality fittings and cleaned after the job was complete. We greatly appreciate the work completed.

Simon and Jack worked tirelessly today to restore electricity to our house. They started the day working in atrocious weather conditions, but did so with a smile on their faces. They were punctual, courteous and took the trouble to explain exactly what needed to be done. We could not be happier with their service, and most grateful to the Tapp team for recognising we had an emergency and, therefore, arranged for their guys to be at our place within half an hour of my initial phone call. Also, another plus, extremely good value for money, when compared to other quotes.

I had a ceiling fan relocated plus a replacement bathroom heat-lamp unit installed. The ceiling fan job was problematic due to access issues in the roof space, but the electrician managed to get the job done via an air-conditioning duct opening. The heat-lamp unit was also problematic, due to me getting one that didn't fit into the existing spot. I exchanged the unit and the electrician came around at about 6pm to install it - no problem this time. Very impressed with the level of service plus good communication about when they were on their way.

I had them replace a few light switches and install a new fuse box. I end up with many defects and unfinished outstanding work. The work was carried out by apprentices or very low-grade electricians at best, they created more problems tan they solved, which caused many cancelations by builders and painters to fix the problem, but Tapp Electrical has charged a top-quality professional rate. The work carried out by Tapp Electrical on my property seems more like the work of a bunch of cowboy apprentices rather than fully qualified electricians.

What a great organisation. Responded to our request for a quote within the hour. Friendly professional phone contact. Kept us in the loop around exact timing of electrician's arrival. Electrician also provided friendly and professional approach to us and the work undertaken which was within the quote provided. Really happy we chose Tapp Electrical and will contact them again as we have more jobs in the future. Would be very confident in referring anyone to this company.

My alarm was playing up, and I needed help fast. When I phoned Tapp Electrical, Nicole was so understanding and helpful and managed to locate an electrician who was available that day! The electrician, Simon, was great, he narrowed down the problems quickly, including sourcing and retrieving a non-standard alarm battery. I highly recommend these guys, and fully intend to use them again. Even their fees are very reasonable! Really happy with their service.

After being left in the lurch with a solar upgrade, Simon was the only electrician from five different service provides (i.e. non Tapp Electrical), that actually came out to see the job, provide a solution, and worked with SA Power to get the job done. Too often I was either given a ridiculous quote, told the job was impossible, and or I would have to organise everything. I can't tell you the relief it was dealing with Simon. Thanks again

I would have appreciated the invoice before I commented on value! Your men arrived promptly and were efficient and helpful. I felt that the leader wanted to solve problems that had bugged me re aspects of circuitry in the house. He offered advice which I was happy to follow. He was clearly an expert. The work was completed efficiently.

An accidental large hole in my ceiling wasn’t the issue. It was ringing for the next month to get it fixed. Trades to fix it not turning up when they said they would. Being told it may bubble but still paying a full bill (apparently reduced). It was fixed in the end and the other work was done ok.

no wonder they do not charge you straight away preferring to send a bill they charge $200 to do 15 minutes work replacing an over priced $20 switch and then had to get them back the next day to fix the job properly

These people are nothing but cheats that they have no work ethics. They sent an apprentice to do a 4 hours job in 2 days. and then they charge me a licenced electriciane's rate ($95 per hour)
