"I like this place"
"well, thanks to last night I now know that "moshing" (in this case, joustingly elbowing my husband and his best friend who are twice my size- I'm 5'1, 104 lbs) is apparently not allowed at the Caravan Lounge and will get you promptly removed without any explanation as to why"
"This is a popular dive bar that has lijve garage bands playing as loud as the amps go in your face Thur, Fri, ,& Sat night"
"A beautiful park with lots of nice picnic table spaces, trails to walk, and a Japanese friendship Garden"
"Caravan is a quintessential dive bar"
I like this place. Always nice to escape. Hidden right behind/next to (whatever you'd like to call it) Monterey Rd/Hwy. It's a get away with out the get away. Love the view of Hayes Mansion, lots of history for sure. Parking lot does get full when they have an event cool part is there is underground parking as well. Something different. Rarely happens so don't get to excited. So over the years more and more people tend to go hang out there in the parking lot Which is cool. minus the litter that's left behind like come on REALLY. I'm not Karen so i wont be one of those people. Just kills me seeing people be like that as if they can't throw their own trash away. Other then that. park is pretty nice y'all. I recommend checking this one out for sure. Any dAy of the week. Oh yeah if y'all play bball or tennis even volley ball(in the sand) bring it. Courts are decent and people are friendly. Enjoy. Hope to see y'all out there.
well, thanks to last night I now know that "moshing" (in this case, joustingly elbowing my husband and his best friend who are twice my size- I'm 5'1, 104 lbs) is apparently not allowed at the Caravan Lounge and will get you promptly removed without any explanation as to why. I guess going there a couple or so times a year for a few years isn't enough to instill this jeweled knowledge. what happened to having signs? even if I wasn't already deaf, I don't think it's exactly broadcast every few minutes. I felt so disrespected last night it isn't even funny. the idiot who pulled me out wouldn't even explain to me why, I had to get the information from people in the back parking lot. of all the venues I've been to, the only time I've ever even heard of anyone getting removed for moshing was when someone actually got bloodied up. has this place always been this lame, or did it just take me that long to realize it?
This is a popular dive bar that has lijve garage bands playing as loud as the amps go in your face Thur, Fri, ,& Sat night. Usually a good mix of this

Street parking goes quick so if you don't see a spot don't waste your time with it do yourself a favor and Park in the San Pedro square parking garage. It is one block away and I think it's free at night
A beautiful park with lots of nice picnic table spaces, trails to walk, and a Japanese friendship Garden. There is a paid area to see animals, which I did not enter. You have to pay $10 a day for parking here so, if you live locally and can walk in, it is a great place to go. If you're just visiting for the day, I would also recommend a stop if you need a rest or a place to picnic. A place to dog walk every day or do other business that requires parking, however, I would become quite spendy.
Caravan is a quintessential dive bar. If you are okay with that it's a decent enough place. They have pretty good local metal shows, cheap beer, and the kind of crowd you'd expect from a metal bar. It's a pretty small place, but didn't feel crowded, even on a Saturday night. The bar staff was friendly and they have a ridiculous selection of booze behind the bar. That being said, it's definitely more of a champagne of beers than a champagne of champagne sort of place.
As someone from freaking Kansas I've never had a chance to experience a proper punky dive bar. Cheap Pabst, free music, great people. When I return this will be a place I stop. The people were drunk but friendly and the owner as well as the bartenders kept things moving. I'd pay 10 dollars just to enter a place like this in Wichita, it wouldn't have live music and the drinks would be twice as expensive. Amazing why we have no night life here.
I love it! It's a great scene, but i'm always worried about crowds especially since there's only two exits and one is the band entry way and the rest is just the general entrance. Place is always happening when you want a live venue with music and honestly the crowd is rather tame. Overall it's just crowded and small, but one of my favorite places to end up in at the middle of the night.
This is an awesome place with an awesome crowd. Punk Rock bar that has live shows and no cover. Be careful with the pushing and shoving though ('No Moshing' is posted above the bar); they will tell you something if you are starting to get out of hand, but it's not done rudely, it's done for safety. Come check it out. Judgement free zone and safe place to hang for all
Great vibes, and people. Amazing staff. The Caravan has definitely been a staple in San Jose for years. There's even a comedy night there. Been there a few times and gained some great memories from it. Even caught up with an old high school friend. Definitely recommend

Smells a bit, gotta play for pool and it's cash only. Beers are cheap, staff is friendly, there's a jukebox. Shows get wild and can be loud but there's always something rad going on. It's like a blast from the past when you've ditched your family and became a rambler travelling the US by Greyhound. Have a Hamms and support your local dive.
Drunx, Punks, Losers, and Boozers. It's the last man standing in a War of Attrition. One of , if not thee last Caravan Lounge in America. It's not about the heritage of the bar name or the Grey hound stories. It's about the people who drink here, the owners make sure it stays that way. The blender is broken, no food. Five stars
Love the vibe of this place, its my favorite dive bar in San Jose and one of my favorite music venues. It's dark, it's punk, it's cheap, it's everybody just doing them. They have good, free, live music playing at an absurd volume most nights of the week. One of my go-to places when I have nothing else to do on a week night.
The Caravan Lounge has been around for a long time. A chill dive dive bar haha. You only go there for the shows or comedy night or to just get away from everyone. It's a place that has all the basics to a bar nothing fancy. A good place to kinda hide downtown honestly. Good staff, good times, good memories there.
It's a San Jose institution. This is the kind of bar that you wish was just around the corner and you could stumble home from after staying up to late listening to music that is too loud and drinking too many vodka sodas or Modelo. Remember, cash only and be sure to tip your bartender well. They deserve it!
Genuinely cool bartenders, not that annoying fake friendliness. Free punk, rock or metal shows multiple days a week. And reasonable, even cheap, prices. As a flight attendant who seeks out dive bars around the country, I'm happy to say that one of my favorites in the entire USA is in my hometown!
The Caravan Lounge is a hidden treasure with a cozy ambiance, skilled and friendly bartenders, creative cocktails, and outstanding live music. It's the perfect bar for those seeking an authentic and memorable experience.

Very, very cool bar with live music. Cash only and a super friendly owner. One of the best bearded bartenders in the business on some nights. People are super regulars that can make the evening a little off-putting, but good people overall. Looking forward to another visit.
One of the regulars is a man named Uncle David. A sage. Words of wisdom. Don't stop thinking about tomorrow, yesterday is gone. I showed him a picture of her, I asked, " Is she yesterday or tomorrow?" He said tomorrow. And I almost forgot, he said, ",Patience is a virtue."
Fun place, nice bartenders and cool patrons (for the most part - this is downtown San Jose, so there will be some annoying weirdos here and there). I like the fact that it's close to my work so I can meander over there after a tough day and chill over some adult beverages.
I LOVE what you are trying to do. Please, please hire a dedicated sound (not sound/security) person who is not afraid to tell the musicians to turn down their amplifiers. It's a small thing that greatly can improve the experience.... Thank you for supporting live music!
The bartender, who says she is the owner, attempted to relieve me of my correct change, when confronted about it she denied it until I walked away and told my group of friends, at which point she tosses my money, in ones, on the floor. You've been warned.
Wednesday Night Comedy is always a surprise and a delight. Its the spot fpr local comics to entertain each other but it can get loud. So loud with others talking but The comics are Great and FUNNY...when you can hear them. Respect to Ato for hosting.
Love the mic of country music and metal and punk and rock that is always playing at this place. The live bands are fun and who doesn't love a small af venue lol I love the occasion ska show the most! I know ska is fading out but it's my favorite!
Nice punky bar attached to the (now closed) Greyhound station. Apparently back in the day a great many Caravan bars existed, all attached to Greyhound stops, but they've almost all gone now. Cash only, a few craft taps, great divey feel.
Best "dive bar" in San Jose. Rachel keeps that place running like a well oiled machine with great music and always friendly and inviting. You are sure to run into some of the MOST AWESOME heads in San Jo so go check 'em out!
The Staff are amazing. The drinks are amazing. The music and shows are great. This is one of the few places left from my past and I enjoy visiting when I visit.

Small, dingy dive bar with some interesting live music. Old time place with a down-home vibe. Has been a fixture here for many years. Too bad Cinnebar burned down because they don't make them like this anymore

Hands down, My favorite dive bar in San Jose. I stop in just about every time I visit. You'll love the bartenders, and the locals are loud, almost obnoxious, and beautiful. You'll come back...I always do.
It was a friendly environment with a quick response with the service but only major negative thing was the rag they used to wipe the bar top and tables smelt really horrible like straight rotten mildew.
This place always has a positive vibe, I remember playing here multiple times, or just showing up for an ice cold beer and play some pool. Definitely worth checking out, gets pretty crowded thurs-sun
The Wednesday Night with Ato Walker was amazing funny. Open mic bring interesting comics (*wannabes) but it os always a pleasure to perform with great natural comics. Thanks Raquel. Our bartender.
A great dive with an awesome vibe. It's a bar where all are welcome ️ A fantastic staff too. I love this place.

I love this place, specially comedy nights on Wednesday. San jose is the most f**king boaring place i have ever seen, caravan is one of the places that made it interesting for me.
Fun! Good music! Such nice people that work there. A guy was cooking back there somewhere and was coming out often to offer the fare. I didn't try it, but it smelled really good!
Wednesdays open-mic stand-up comedy nights have become a routine now. Amazing vibe, laughters and a gorgeously fabulous bar tender Rachel who just makes up for every evening ♥️
Love this place! Live entertainment, most nights, cool bartenders and owner. Just a chill downtown spot for a drink with friends + cool underground bands from all over! Cheers!
San Jose's best punk bar. No cover. Stiff cheap drinx! One of the best bar tenders in the business. Rachel Warner always has everyone's glass full no matter the size of crowd!
Love this place!! Cool bands. Nice environment with very chill people. Bartenders are cool and beers are not too expensive. They also have my Newcastle here unlike other bars
Awesome shows & staff! Super welcoming space with live music & comedy shows regularly! Pretty loud space so be prepared

One of the best dive bars in SJ. awesome staff very friendly. Interesting and colorful mix of patrons ( including myself ). It's definitely worth a trip to check out. …
Nice location to meet with family. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. It has a great interior. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Kansas City.
Great and Cool place to hang out with friends, so relaxing. It is not a big space but fair enough to have drinks, for sure. Come to visit it and you will like it. …
The bartender was incredible and was enforcing the mask mandates which made me feel safer. The beer was cold and the atmosphere was great. Nice little establishment!
I just moved to San Jose and I finally went out. KP is an amazing bartender and the band was fkn awesome. ..thanks for helping create new memories in my new city!
I always have a great time at the Caravan! Run into friends and make new ones. For me, it's never a disappointment. Metal heads, rockers, and awkward awesomeness.
Well this place is a hidden gem I wish I'd known about sooner. Keep up the good work and keeping the vibe alive. White fuzzy bloodbath's album launch was fire!
I stopped in just to check the place out, unfortunately I just missed the live music. Hopefully I'll be able to leave a more comprehensive review next time.
great dive great vibe bumpin into dudes while diggin the band has been foreplay since 1985, COC and DRI @ metroplex in rAtlanta while riding an MDMA high
Great dive bar in downtown San Jose. Place is small and intimate with a pool table for entertainment. Cash only, so be prepared with some bills on hand.
This place, tiny as it is, hosts some really cool events. It’s away from the main drag (1st St) so it’s less crowded and calmer than most SJ nite spots
I like to stir my drinking here and watch the cities more lively folks good place to get a drink don't go up and punch nobody bartenders are cool too
About as authentic as it can get when it comes to dive bars. Dark, dingy, cash only, occasional live metal bands, Sunday karaoke, coin op pool table.
Good ol rustic bar with hard music and bold friends. Historic punk joint and cheap beer. Pool table too. Comedy, karaoke, live music, and burlesque.
I love the Caravan .. I've been coming here for 10 years.. Never had a problem.. Great bar.. My all time favoriteplac to come relax and have adrink.
I went to this bar during Halloween weekend. They had a crazy band, great bartender. The place is not too big, it's mostly a div bar and cash only.
Bev was awesome and took great care of my team for holiday party. Place is great with pool table, jukebox and great liquor selection. Check it out…
Fantastic bar with a billiards table and fun events like regular poetry slams, and a convenient bike rack outside. I will absolutely be returning.
Pet friendly bar. The drinks are on the cheaper side so it's pretty cool. Has a dive bar feel to it. Fyi: CASH ONLY. There is an atm on the inside
Miss this place dearly, cornerstone of the San Jose music scene, best bartenders and staff in the city, lots of wonderful memories here
The Caravan is the perfect dive bar/venue. Most nights there's live music or comedy and there's always cheap drinks and good company.
Totally one of my favorite dive bars in the bay! What can I say other than you can't come to san Jose with out visiting the caravan!
Awesome beer selection and staff are cool. Could only be better if they served food! At least they let you bring in your own …
A local dive bar, with a pool table. Beers are $6 to $8 buck's depending on the quality. PBA to Lagunitas IPA and other microbrews.
Been going there off and on since 1993. Lived Down town for 5 years went there alot more then. Now more for nostalgia. Pool tables.
Amazing bar. Allows people to use restroom, water bowl for dogs inside, dogs allowed also!

Friendly bartender! Good selection! Nice Rock/punk music. Not the Caravan I was told to avoid back in the day. I will be back!
Love this bar. Rachel is amazing. And the entertainment calendar is non stop. Cash only. Good pool table on non show nights.
Great atmosphere professional and friendly staff great place to hang out anytime day or night.. Love The Caravan Lounge!!!
The best dive in San Jose . Rich with authenticity and a vibrant live music scene with a regular monthly berlquest scene!
Super dive that's cash only and has random local metal and punk shows. I personally enjoy this place on random occasions.
Fun little dive bar, a relief after all the crowded clubs in the vicinity. And they had a great hot dog cart out front!
Always a fun spot, local dive bar in DT where you can see live bands, get decent drinks at a good price. CASH ONLY..
Saw some rock bands here on Friday night. The bands were good, no stage, the bar is small, music loud, drinks cheap.
Great little dive bar. One pool table. There were 3 different live bands, so that was great. Parking is limited.
Luv this place! My husband is the bouncer there. Fun people and the owner Bev is AWSOME! But I'm a bit bias. Lol
Cozy place, had music but a bit too loud for such a very small place. Nice strong drinks. Relaxed environment.
Very raw atmosphere. Always a wide variety of u and coming artists. Always a fun time and cheap beer too.
If you like fancy craft beers, don't come here! Rude, crude, and amazing. Metal shows and Circus of Sin!
Nice place to kick it with people who understand these challenging times. Good service. Smooth sailing.
One of the Best Dive Bars of San Jose' California. History, Flavour, Good Music, and Cheapish Drinks.
Cool vibe and crowd at the caravan lounge. I love the affordable drinks and local bands at this bar
This place has a great feel to it... Pool table and down to earth drinkers. What more can you ask?
If you like to have a well done drink and listen to awesome music the Caravan is the place to be.
Modelo in a pint glass with chamoy on the rim is all you need to know, plus the good vibes!
Been here multiple times. Small place, good music. Great staff. Just remember, cash only!
Great, friendly staff. Awesome live music Friday and Saturday. Good drink specials.
My Favorite Dive Downtown. One of the last places to have bands play and no cover!
Great local vibe with live music on the weekends. Awesome crowd and good vibes.
Everyone here is amazing. Love all the bartenders here. Best spot for drinks!
Best bar ever! Live bands. Rad bartenders!! We had a blast! Def coming back!
