Tl;dr: My neighbor warned me that the owner used to be a cop and still behaves like it. Rude & dismissive, not interested in even listening to the service you're requesting, nor the parameters of your bike and components. If he weren't the owner, I'd assume he was being paid on commission for each customer that left thinking "huh, that guy was totally unhelpful and patronizing." I can't fault a shop for refusing to do work that they deem unsafe, but that's not what this review is about. Full review: I took my Priority converted e-bike in for a few services (fork replacement, brake tune-up, tube replacement). Spoke to a nice guy on the phone the previous week, explained my situation, was told to bring the bike by for service. Dropped off the replacement components with an equally friendly gentleman at the front desk, then ran back to my car for the bike itself. By the time I returned, the owner was standing at the door, ready to deliver his monologue. The door had barely closed, in fact, when I was told they weren't going to work on it because replacing the fork would mess with the geometry of the bike (others online with *my exact model* have reported this to be a non-issue?), that the fork was incompatible because Priority didn't make suspension forks (what does this even mean??) that it wouldn't fit the axle (I mean, it DOES fit and I knew this because I already fit it myself???), that they wouldn't file down the fork (I wasn't even asking them to[!]), and that RadPower is currently being sued for "this exact thing" (turns out RadPower is *actually* being sued because of their quick release forks messing with brake rotors, not because of the fork itself?). After he got done with his soliloquy (felt like I needed a shave after waiting that long for it to end), I realized he'd made up his mind and that was going to be that. I genuinely didn't understand the issue with what I was trying to do, and mentioned I had a beefy torque arm, which only prompted an incredulous response to the extent of "you're going to put a torque arm on a suspension fork?!?". He further elaborated with some really helpful insights, like saying "that's very dangerous, don't do that" before walking off, shaking his head and scoffing as he looked away from me muttering "don't ever put a torque arm on a suspension fork... ... ..." and disappearing into the back office area as his voice trialed off. It's really not difficult (!) to avoid being curt and patronizing with people. If the owner had been interested in listening or explained... really... anything, I'd not be writing this review, but that wasn't the case. You ever read reviews of a place where others suggest owners/staff are rude and think "how bad can they be?", until you go and have the "ohhhhhhhhh yeah, ok, I get it now" realization? That's this place. I highly recommend reading the other reviews that report similar things (or, you may just luck out and not have to deal with the owner at all!). I still have no idea *why* what I was trying to do was so dangerous, but I DID learn something today: the owner is a rude blockhead. Take your bike elsewhere.

Finally a reason to review this location. I’ve tried this location I few years back when I first started riding track bikes. Immediately upon walking through the door, I was met with where’s your helmet? No hi, no can I help you… Followed with ohh and “ no brakes” I continued to shop. Every time I asked any questions pertaining to my new effectuation with bikes all together. Grunts and one word answers. Today is the last straw and it’s crazy because out of all the DMV bike shops. This one has never even been on my radar. With so many completely better shops only 5mins bike ride away. So only reason I called was to see if they were busy, because I had a small repair that just required a tightening of a lock ring, I was standing in REI(waiting). So I called, And upon picking up the phone I had explained this to them with detail. There was a slight pause… and the guy says, hey where are you calling from. Me- Wow! Did you hear anything I just said. Why are you concerned about anything other than my question. He says your caller ID, it’s Say you’re calling from The Simulation Short story… can you do this repair… Yes im calling from the simulation He returned with No sorry we can’t do it. 3 strikes and you’re out Daily Rider . Crazy I had received a gift card from a race. Never got to even use free money at your store.

So i dont normally write bad reviews nor do i leave comments. This buisness really got under my skin and i had to say something about what happened. The guy who owns and runs this place should not be in customer service. Basically since the first day I've been coming here he hasn't been the most pleasent person towards me. My last visit i was literally kicked out and refused service for no reason at all. I asked him why he would not service my bike and he would not give a reason at all. I hadn't done anything to disrupt his buisness and I've always paid for the work done on my bike. I have never felt welcome and I hate that I've given them buisness. Most of his staff have not been very friendly towards me at all. Im not sure if they are racist or prejudice towards gays. VERY UNFRIENDLY buisness AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

I love going to this place. I have taken my cyclocross bike here probably 10 times in the past 2 years to fix issues ranging from flats to a mangled derailleur to tune-ups to bottom bracket replacement... and have walked away happy each time. They always explain issues to me clearly and emphasize they don't want to charge for maintenance or parts unless they're absolutely needed. The store is always clean and easy to find, and while they don't have a ton of accessories out on shelves, they can order specific parts quickly. I've had great experiences with Peter in particular, but truthfully every staff member I have talked to is friendly - and more importantly - knowledgeable. All repairs I've received are done very quickly as well (usually same day). As a local, I strongly recommend The Daily Rider.

Will at the Daily Rider fixed a severe flat on my electronic bike (ebike). An eight inch construction nail went through my back tire and tube in two places. Will was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He offered great recommendations, which made the process easy and straightforward for an affordable price. I decided to upgrade my ebike's tires and tubes to better quality products than the original items. The shop's location is very convenient with plenty of street and garage parking. I was able to drop off and pick-up my ebike with no problems. My experience with The Daily Rider was great because of the quick turn-around and excellent customer service. I would recommend The Daily Rider to anyone who wants a professional and well-done repair.

I’ve had consistently first-rate service experiences with The Daily Rider. They communicate responsively and insightfully via text and phone, plus have a smooth contactless process for accepting your bike for repair. This shop has done quality repair work on both my Tern folding bike, and a tiny Woom kids’ bike, supporting my daughter’s introduction to the wonderful world of pedal power. Their technicians found solutions to quirky problems, and returned each bike the same day. I look forward to more satisfying and worthwhile interactions with this little yet potent shop. Another (chain) bike store is closer to my home in DC, but it doesn’t even answer its phone anymore. The Daily Rider offers a higher class of care for both bikes and customers.

  • Robb Dooling

I'm a Deaf frequent customer since 2016 and this shop is amazingly patient/flexible in communicating with my friends and me, including through frequent texting and typing. The employees are beyond honest and helpful about what they can do and can't do - even if they can't do something I'm looking for, they know how to find it. This business is also involved in advocacy for walkability and bike-ability in the neighborhood, something I appreciate deeply. They put their heart into their work. Out of the five years I've been going here, they only made a (very small) mistake once with my partner's bike; they immediately fixed it for free AND threw in a free improvement. I'm proud of making this my neighborhood go-to bike shop!

  • Mario A G

Highly recommend especially if you own a Marin bike. The guys at Daily Rider are super customer service oriented, take their time to hear your concerns, and communicate their results and repair suggestions very well. I took my Marin to Daily Rider and within minutes, the rep was able to zero in on the issue. I got my bike back within days and have had no issues! They even fixed my saddle! Five Star 1st time experience- will def go back for future repairs and service. I have had hit/miss with Conte's in Navy Yard (bad installation of the braking system & lackluster annual service job). I also tried Bicycle Space - their problematic customer service leaves a lot to be desired and will def upsell you on service.

  • Hannah S

Massive thanks to The Daily Rider team for their help today--the staff are efficient, knowledgeable, and really kind! I went in to have a flat tire fixed and they handled it so quickly. They also took the time to make sure all my questions were answered and gave me (a new biker!) tips to prevent punctures and flats moving forward. As I was riding home from the shop, my bike saddle fell off unexpectedly (it must've loosened over time without me realizing) and I returned to the store that same afternoon. The mechanic set it right immediately for no additional charge. Had a great experience and would recommend The Daily Rider to any biker!

  • Lewis Wyman

Thanks to the Daily Rider and especially to Will for the expert installation of a new headset on my Wabi Classic. These guys are super fast and offer very reasonable prices for even complicated service. Bike mechanic Will is a super nice guy and easy to talk to. He took the extra time to look my bike over to make sure everything was in line and within optimal tolerances. My bike is a big part of my life and it’s nice to know that I have a local bike shop that I can trust and rely on when I need some help. If you need help with your bike, visit these folks with confidence. Y’all ride safely and have fun.

  • Chauncy Primm

I can say so much about this place . I really truly hope they never leave. The bike shops in the city have become so unstable in terms of locations, owner and etc, and thankfully I was able to find a bike shop that I look forward to bringing my bike too. They did an amazing job on repairing and replacing parts. The technicians were very nice and courteous ! I don’t think that should be should understated! They kept in constant contact with me, they have my previous info for easy diagnostics, and they are in the heart of the H St corridor. I’m never going to another shop. I hope they never leave!

  • Ian Edgley

This bike shop is significantly overpriced. While I have always receive quality service, I now know that I consistently paid more than other shops. This bike shop was recommended to me by a friend, and the workers they have are always very professional. For example, I took in an old bike to be restored and the estimate was $275. I took the same bike to Bike and Roll near Union station and had the bike repaired for $150. If you are a devoted touring biker or want a specialty bike I would go here. If you just need to have your daily rider repaired go to Bike and Roll.

  • Derek Swanson

I heard of their social distancing policy and thought it might be a great time to get my first new bike in 20 years. I emailed them a request for recommendations based on my height and weight and riding habits. I researched the options they sent then placed an order for a Marin. Took about 2 weeks for the bike to ship from the factory to complete assembly. When I was ready to pick it up they locked it outside and put the key in a lock box and gave me the code. Easy. Bike was perfect and exceeded my expectations.

  • Dan Bernoske

This shop is special. The owner and its employees are a family and it shows in how they treat each other. This inevitably translates to how they treat everyone who walks through their door. Yes, they sell excellent cycling products, especially for the commuter and family of riders. They are good people and incredibly good at their trade. But it is their unique kindness and family atmosphere that differentiates them from other local shops. I will continue to be loyal to the Daily Rider.

  • Erin Beard

I love The Daily Rider! The people who work there are fellow riders, and I trust their work. They pay attention to detail and do a great job of making sure that my bike is ready for daily commuting and cargo hauling. I never feel like they're talking down to me. They're also very communicative and responsive--I can really rely on them. I make it a point to go to this shop for repairs even though it's far for me and there are more convenient shops near my neighborhood.

  • Kevin Dermody

Great experience! Not only did they get my wheel trued in no time flat, the employees were engaging and very knowledgeable of cycling in and out of the city. So glad I picked this shop. I thought moving to this city was going to limited my riding to just daily commutes, but the staff opened my eyes to all of the riding opportunities this city has to offer. I can't recommend this shop enough, and can't wait to stop in to shop and talk trails again.

  • Mark Sussman

.The Daily Rider has always given me A+ service ever since I became a customer 7 years ago (when I bought my Spot Ajax). Most recently, I needed a double kickstand for my bike in preparation for carrying my daughter on my bike. Not only did The Daily Rider give me an excellent recommendation based on my needs, they installed the part based on my scheduled appointment time and at the exact quoted price. I cannot recommend the Daily Rider enough!

  • Alex Simmons

The Daily Rider offers a full range of bicycle repairs that are done professionally, quickly and at an affordable price, particularly for the neighborhood. I had my wheels trued and brake cable replaced, and didn't think twice to ask if they could put some air in the tires, too. They did, and even let me used their store computer to transfer some money from my savings to checking (my phone was dead). Thanks, Daily Rider!

  • Wilson Grossman-Trawick

Absolutely great staff; they give you a square deal and explain things in without being jargon-y. Very quick and they do not try to sell you things you don't need or over charge you. Also they remember customers and their bikes, needs, and issues! Will definitely be coming back. Update: got in a crash and took my bike entirely across town to bring it here because this shop is the best.

  • Karen Ramsey

I picked a bad replacement seat. They heard about it, researched saddles that would be a better fit for me, let me try them out, handled a return, and installed the new new saddle. Always prompt, polite & helpful and staff never make a casual but daily rider feel like they don’t know enough about bikes as other shops have. That’s why I go back & encourage others to shop there, too.

  • Beth Ann Saracco-Manuel

This is a great community bike shop. I've taken my bike to daily rider on a few occasions now, most recently last week when my chain broke. The mechanic took a great deal of time inspecting the chain and my gears, in addition to fixing some shifting problems that I have been experiencing recently. And, to finish it off, they were very reasonable in their pricing.

  • Sarah Ibach Stewart

Fantastic bike shop with really great employees who care about their customers and do a great job of helping with bike issues and questions. I feel so lucky to have them less than a mile from my home and will continue to bring my business here no matter where I move within DC. Thank you for always having a friendly smile and fix for what ails me and my bike! :)

  • Isis Hanna

Very confused by the other reviews but I found this place incredibly overpriced. They charged us $70 for bar tape and putting the bar tape on which is crazy. Then some bike packers dropped in to get their pedals loosened and they charged $10 and said remove the bags or we’ll have to charge more for using automatic stand. Seemed unnecessary and ridiculous

  • McKenna Stahl

I have now been here twice for repairs where I had to come in less than a week later because the mechanics did not properly reassemble my bike. These people do NOT know what they are doing when it comes to mountain bikes. The only reason I came here to begin with was because it was close to my house and I could walk my bike to the shop, but never again.

  • Deirdre Orceyre

Awesome staff!! Got a flat and stopped in. They fixed my flat in 10m time. New tube + I needed a new tire. $45, totally worth it. Guy who helped me was extremely nice and gave me tips about my hand pump and my bike tires plus topped up my other tire and fixed my quick release for no charge. I was in and out in less than 30m. Really great experience.

  • Ryan Kaat

Excellent service from the mechanics, who followed up when they said they would and turned around my bike a day earlier than expected. I would strongly recommend this shop over others in the area where I have had less than stellar experiences (e.g., Bicycle Space Ivy City). I will be using Daily Rider for my bike repair needs going forward.

  • Scott Porter

These folks are wonderful. Yes, the showroom is (rightfully) closed, but they bring bikes out to you at the sidewalk to try-out. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Prices are as expected. No price gouging even now that bikes are in short supply. We purchased a Marin bike we couldn't find anywhere else. All in all a great experience!

  • Sharmarke

Had a fantastic experience getting my bike fixed at The Daily Rider! Great folks who genuinely want to help get you back on the road as quickly as possible. The wonderful no-nonsense service (no pushy sales or unnecessary add-ons) and flawless follow up means that I've found my go-to local bike shop. Thanks :)

  • Max Bodach

Got a flat on the way to work and realized the e-bike was due for a tune-up. Daily Rider was prompt, responsive, and extremely detailed -- I particularly appreciated how they gave precise enumerations of work performed and sought to keep costs down. Excellent work, the bike rides great. Will definitely return!

  • Mike Anderson

I walked in on a Saturday with a frame and assortment of parts, trying to build a new bike from the Frankenparts from my old steel road bike. Loren spent the afternoon building my bike and teaching me how to better maintain and tune my bike. At the end of the day, Loren and Beth even handed me a cold beer.

  • Ronald Whipple

5 star knowledge of bikes. 5 star staff, 5 star repair, 5 star customer service!! 5 star selection of bicycles!! H street is so lucky they are part of our community! Thanks Beth, Lauren and your genius staff at The Daily Rider for sharing your knowledge of quality bikes! It is a game changer! Ron Whipple

  • Will Smith

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! I WENT IN LAST WEEK TO GET THE CHAIN ON MY BIKE, WHICH BROKE IN HALF FIXED! THE ATMOSPHERE,CUSTOMER SERVICE,AND OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS TOP NOTCH! I UTILIZE MY BIKE FOR WORK AND WORKING OUT AND DAILY RIDER ON H STREET REALLY CAME THROUGH FOR ME! THANK YOU !

  • Zygmunt Czykieta

Very nice guy! In need of a bicycle box as I’m moving away. They gave me the box as requested, but then unprompted: offered to disassemble the bike, and gave me protective packing accessories! When asked how much, he said it was Free. Wow! So pleasant, courteous, and generous.

  • P.J.

Great shop, interesting bikes, and incredible service! My partner and I have both purchased bikes here. And, we go here for our annual tune ups, etc. By far and away, one of the best bike shops in the City! Also, they curate the absolute best options of bike accessories.

  • Frederick Plummer

I've been going to The Daily Rider years and the staff is always helpful. They always complete my bike repairs in timely manner and will point out any other problems that I may have not noticed. I feel really comfortable going to them to have my bike repaired.

  • Andrew Patricio

Took my electric bike here to adjust the spokes due to noise and they did a great job at a reasonable price. They also made a few other minor adjustments (mainly tightening some bolts) that I hadn't asked for nor pointed out. will definitely use again.

  • Alexandra Wisbiski

I've visited the Daily Rider 3 times for bike repairs for my ECargo Bike, and every time I am so thankful to have this gem in DC! The staff are patient when listening to the many issues that plagued my ECargo bike, thorough in their repairs

  • Fred

Amazing service, quick turnaround, quality repairs and replacements. Will and the gang treated my 10yo Jamis as if it were the finest bike on the road, and they talked to me (a commuter, not a pro) without condescension. I’ve used a mobile

  • Lloyd Jason Phillips

I can't tell you how great it is to have a commuter bike shop in the neighborhood. Twice The Daily Rider has helped me out of issues with my bike. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. A welcome addition to H Street and Capitol Hill.

  • Abigail Burman

Have now been very unimpressed with them on two brompton repairs. On this last one they said they were surprised by a feature that is apparent from literally just looking at the bike. Save your time and go to bikespace vienna instead.

  • JC Kollmorgen

This is a nice neighborhood bike store. The people who work there are very friendly. Hours are also convenient. However, they aren't able to fix older bikes for some reason. Seems to be good for newer bikes, though.

  • Morgane Renoir

Great little bike shop. This is not the place I would recommend if you have a road bike. But for a cruiser or a town bike this is a great little bike shop. They sell new bikes, accessories, and also do repairs.

  • Andy Clark

Took the bike in for what I thought would need some repairs. I told them I knew nothing about bikes, and they were very honest that the wheel was just out of alignment and only charged me for a regular tune up.

  • Stephanie Bastek

Had a wee fender bender (I hit my partner, oops) and the kind guys not only didn't laugh at us but also straightened my disc brake for one cent and fixed up my partner's bike in under 15 minutes. A life saver!

  • Carl Wells

Fast and friendly service. They found a separate issue while servicing my brakes and after having me approve the additional repair, they were able to complete this work in the same day. Bike is running great.

  • Ray Rizzo

Extremely professional and personal service. Went in with a flat tire and they fixed it in 10 minutes (replaced the tube) for $25 and answered all questions I had as a novice bike owner. Highly recommend!

  • Amy Rogers

Super friendly, helpful and speedy. I went in thinking I’d need to leave my bike after having a tire blowout and they fixed me within minutes. They were affordable, helpful and honest. Highly recommend!

  • SMT PR

I love the daily rider! Their team is incredibly kind always willing to offer me a helping hand with my bike since 2018 when I purchased it. They really are a great bike shop and very knowledgeable too!

  • A. Ferg

Overpriced tune up, no part of bike even cleaned, no recommendations for other issues. Even though, brake wire cut and probably needs to be replaced. And bike still squeaks and rides the same!

  • Jared Evans

Always got great service here whenever I purchase accessories or bringing in my bike for tune-ups or repairs. They are deaf friendly and are willing to communicate via text messages, a bonus!

  • Alfredo Rohweder

Took bike in for flat rear tire. They were able to replace immediately, inexpensively and for no extra charge they tightened a couple spokes just for my safety. Great guys. Great local shop.

  • Sabine Rogers

The best service!! They’ve saved me more times than I can count. Thanks for having the free tire pump outside! Also was really impressed with their contactless drop-off/pick-up for covid.

  • Jon Conlon

Great people working at this store that remember you and your bike when you walk in, and are always willing to help or give advice. I will definitely continue to give them my business.

  • Mark Z

Staff was extremely helpful when I had a problem with my bike that I didn’t even buy from the store and gave me advice on how to fix it. Will definitely go there to buy a new bike.

  • A V.

Got hit by a car, they did an estimate on what it would cost to fix the damages. Turned out the damages were worth more than the bike. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.

  • Chris Adams

Very friendly, great mechanic took care of the pandemic backlog on my cargo bike. I’m not moving so they could be my neighborhood bike shop but I might have thought about it.

  • Brian Graham

They always have time to answer questions, and they're generally eager to help. They'll change a flat while you wait in about five minutes. Great little place, great people.

  • John Rohrbach

These folks are great - we’ve bought multiple bikes here, all our helmets, etc. Super nice people who know bikes and really take care of their customers. We keep going back.

  • Roberta Gutman

Excellent service, completed work on time (my bike was in shop only one day), friendly staff. Daily Rider will be my bike mechanics from now on. Roberta

  • Edward Turas

I was recently working in Washington DC and happened upon this bike shop! They did an exceptional job dropping everything they do just to focus on me

  • Kirsten Hillyer

Wonderful and super helpful staff. I brought my bike in and they were able to replace my cable right away. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes.

  • Kris Kully

Left message, hoping for an appointment to get bike repaired. Never called me back. I know times are weird and tough, but I’ll find someplace else.
