Saturday night 8/19/23 my second time going to Dogwood the first time I was with coworkers and the second time I went with Family we thought it would be a good idea after celebrating a birthday for a family member. Bad idea. We understood the dress code and didn't argue that okay we can't get in because someone was wearing a white T-shirt. The bouncer at the door made it his point to keep coming explaining why he couldn't let us in we kept saying fine we stood there pondering our next move what bar would be okay with white t shirts. As we started to walk off he let's in someone in wearing a white T-shirt now yes I am Black but I don't and our family don't pull the race card but the man he let in was of a different race(white). So someone in our group asked what was that about he became very defensive saying I was nice to you people and cursed out the lady that was talking to him. Her brother immediately said you don't half to talk to my sister that way and yes you were respectful to me but that's not cool though the bouncer than put his hands in a fist bent his knees and started charging him saying well what you want to do. At that moment we all felt disgusted like why are you trying to fight no one came at you that way and here comes the police. I immediately told them so y'all see a group of black people a white man maybe Mexican I couldn't tell starts jumping around to fight and automatically we are the problem. I am disappointed that today we still face racial profiling. Luckily the police saw that we were not trying to fight and walked away or this could have seriously went wrong. I think Dogwood should be a little careful about how they treat people and who they have working at their establishment. Yes it's people in the world that can mess things up for White's,Blacks and Mexicans in which you automatically put your guards up however that doesn't mean to pass judgement and assume that we are here to start trouble. When I went to Dogwood the first time I was with a Mexican Man and a Puerto Rican lady and received no backlash no problem. The minute with my own my family. Now everything is a problem. Yes he racial profiled us and when busted he disrespected us in front of the police hoping that we would get out of character and the minute the police saw who was the agressor they said nothing but we all know if it was the other way around we would of all probably been put in handcuffs. My Black people be aware that we are not wanted at the Domain spend your money and party elsewhere a place that we are treated equal and not a place that immediately assumes we are out to start trouble. Ignorance is bliss so I hope this message helps so that no one else half to experience what we went through or worse happens.

I've visited this bar for the last 5 years, and service is usually decent. But this last Sunday , August 13th, was my least favorite experience! I asked for a Texas sized mimosa and was told that they no longer make them. I then looked over and noticed fellow patrons with them. When I confronted the bartender , he acted puzzled and stated , "I had no idea , it's just what I was told....I can get a manager for you. " He did not suggest to get one made or anything, just decided to hand us off to the manager to resolve. the bar was not busy at all. The manager, Preston approached my friend and I , very aggressively. He was not apologetic about the incident and only then stated that the cups were expensive ($17) , so the bartenders were told to hand them out "accordingly" and only before 9pm. Which apparently is a new rule ! I arrived at the bar at 8:30 pm and when we spoke to him it was 8:50 pm .He then brought over a Texas sized mimosa after we discussed things , to say, " here's one on the house. " We then jokingly said , "that we did not need one for free , we only wanted to be treated fairly. " He then got offensive and asked us to finish our drinks and leave. My friend and I immediately left our drinks (that we paid for ) and departed respectfully. It was the most uncomfortable experience we have ever experienced as patrons at a bar.

I was having a great time. I always order shots of Don Julio shakin' over ice. I had my first one, then 45 minutes later I went to get my second one. I asked for it the same, but somehow she poured it on the rocks. Which was fine I just asked for another glass. She gave it to me no issue. Then she said I should have asked for it chilled. I tried to explain that I only ask for it shakin' over ice because lots of bars keep it in a cooler, but I like it colder. She was still very nice but got quiet. I tried to apologize cause I thought she was doing a great job, but these 2 girls next to me started making fun of me while I was looking at T-shirts. They kept laughing and mocking me so eventually I looked at them and asked to buy their tab. The staff was great, the management and bar backs helpful, but these two girls and how they mocked me in front of the bartender is the reason I won't go back. I did tip the bartender well ($200), not that I'd usually say that, and I always tip well because I a bartender myself while in school) and I hope she knows she deserved it, but I immediately went home after and won't go back to the domain because I was mortified and humiliated. I love Austin, I love Texas, but the people are becoming worse and the bullying is unnecessary. Thank you for having me and I wish you all the best.

Was very disappointed with this place. We live close to the Domain and are frequently in the area. I had family in town visiting, and we decided to come to Dogwood for a nightcap. The bouncer was extremely disrespectful to my father, who is from out of town, and almost 60 years old. He was wearing a collared shirt, Hoka running shoes, and grey Lululemon shorts that had pockets/a faux zipper. The bouncer asked my father to pull his shirt up, and proceeded to say that because my father’s shorts had an elastic waistband, he could not enter the bar. This elastic waistband was not visible, had he not been asked to pull up his shirt. Finally, the bartender said that he could enter, but only because it was before 9:00 PM. He proceeded to tell us not to be surprised if we get kicked out at 9:00. When inside, we went up to the second floor open-air bar. Despite standing at the bar for over ten minutes, we were ignored by the bartenders. Not so much as a nod was thrown our way. We left this establishment very unhappy. I would not recommend that anyone patronize this bar. There are indeed, far better options in the Domain.

So I actually really dislike the one down on West 6th, since it's always super annoying there. I'm sure this place can/may get that way too. But I hope that Rock Rose stays completely different than West 6th or at least has a different crowd. Besides the point, I actually really enjoyed this location. I came here for Happy Hour with a friend. The service was great, there was plenty of places to sit. Our server was awesome, she was super friendly and attentive. I never had my drink go empty without her checking in. The Happy Hour food menu is great too, we ordered the Cajun Chicken Fritters, the Spinach Artichoke Dip, and the deviled eggs. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the deviled eggs. Everything else was great, and you can't beat the price. It looks like they have an awesome Brunch menu too, I haven't been there to try it, but I will soon. Parking is a pain in this area still since one side of it is still under construction, but there are parking garages on either side of the street you just have to be lucky enough to find a spot.

Pretty cool place. This one is more my speed for a rooftop bar than the nearby 77 Degrees Rooftop Bar (no offense to those that prefer that atmosphere). For those of you not willing to brave the outdoor elements, they have a spacious bar and seating area downstairs and it is inside. The Dogwood just seems more down to earth and has a more casual and laid-back vibe to it – plus, they have a good assortment of local microbrews on tap! They also have a full bar if that is what you are into. Staff is VFAF (Very Fun, Accommodating and Friendly). Yes, that’s right, I just coined my own acronym. Feel free to use it amongst yourselves. I have a feeling this one is going to be trending on Twitter before you know it, so get in on the ground floor my peeps. $5 happy hour food specials from 4p to 7p M-F (see my photo for the current listing). They also have the typical bar fare; wings, burgers, salads, etc.

Went to Dogwood for the first time on a Thursday afternoon. Entrance staff was very friendly (one of them even had jokes if I was related to Bruce Lee.) Anyways my girlfriend and I sat at the bar (right side when you enter). Asked for a water and a drink menu (since I never been here before), bartender got us water and NEVER came back for. I was there for a good 10 minutes, not sure if your bartender was relatively new or what not. There were about 10 people at the bar, she ends up striking a conversation with a bar patron and is conpletely oblivious to your customers around her. Friendly front staff but poor service (this may have just been that particular bartender. I am sure your other bartenders are amazing) but just wanted to share.. especially with several bars within a close proximity of one another. I do not expect anything from this, just wanted to share. Thanks for reading! Brandon

Bartender at a SPORTS BAR said "I don't watch sports because I don't need to learn useless information" You are a bartender bro, the USEFUL information you possess clearly doesn't matter either. I'm just trying to watch football man, I didn't ask for your opinion of the NFL while I was trying to watch. Worst service ever from a bar staff, but don't take my word for it, just read the other reviews. I have to assume the 5 star reviews are paid for or part of some promotion. All the 1 star reviews seem to align with the same experience I had here with no response from the bar itself. What a shocker. Mostly the atmosphere (being able to bring your dog) and the food was decent/good, but nothing left a worst taste in my mouth than the bartender. (12/17/23 - 1-3pm)

Cocktails are good but service was horrible (Th 1/10) The 2 girls behind the bar on the roof were more interested in talking to each other that serving customers. Wasn't just my friends and I, others had trouble too. They barely looked old enough to serve and had some attitude. I remember the blonde just rolling her eyes when we had to holler to get her attention after I arrived to join my girls and went 15min of sitting without being served. Bar wasn't even 1/2 full. We tried another girl but she wasn't much better. We were ready to have a couple rounds there until we got tired of fighting to get their attention. With all the other choices around, I don't think I'll waste my time there again.

Nice and clean! This place is so clean, which for a bar is almost unheard of. I actually boosted my rating from a 3 star to a 4 star just because of how clean it is. On the night I went I could not go to the roof top bar because of the weather (it was cold) so I am not going to be able to describe that but I will go back to check it out. What I learned is that this is not really the bar to go to watch a game unless you can access the rooftop portion. The TVs inside are not that clear. Bartenders were very nice, and very efficient. There is lots of space and seating outside as well as in. This bar would be great to visit in the spring! Will go back for sure!

Stopped by early in the evening after shopping in the Domain. Since it was early, there were plenty of places to grab a seat. The bartenders were attentive upon sitting down and taking the initial order. Drinks were made quickly, looked nice, and tasted great. There were TV's around the bar to watch some sports while music was playing overhead. Music wasn't too loud and was easy to have a conversation. Ordered some of the nachos to snack on over a few drinks. Nachos were very large and had a generous amount of toppings on top. The crowds started to pick up as the evening went on, but left before it became too crowded.

Been here multiple times, went last weekend and didn’t get in bc my friend was wearing a white t shirt (okay whatever I’ve seen other reviews where that is apart of the dress code. Fine) came back here this weekend. Bouncer denied us bc of the way we “stumbled across the street” and were too drunk to be let in. It was our first bar of the night. Idk if they are just not letting a certain demographic to be let in but dude twice in a row is whack af. Will not be coming here anymore. Bouncers are very judgmental. Go across the street to Kung fu.

This is a pretty chill location. I went here once with friends and we spent most of the time on the heated roof. It was relaxing and easy to get a drink from the bartender. It was a bit crowded up there but you could still hear the person you were talking too which was nice. We left when the bar closed and the bartenders said bye and drive safe on the way out which was nice. We ran into a couple arguing and the cops coming to them on the way out. I don't know if there was a fight but there were 4 cop cars. Besides the end it was a pretty laid back bar. I would definitely go again.

We went to the Dogwood Friday night July 23rd. Big shout out to the manager that seated 14 of us girls in no time. Our server was a young pretty girl and did an excellent job, dang I can't remember her name. Food was not the typical bar food. We had a beautiful looking salmon dish, crunchy fried pickles, hot and cheesy mozzarella sticks, juicy big hamburgers, and quesadilla's to name a few.. Everybody thought it was well presented and damn tasty. The food came out fast and perfectly prepared. Service was excellent. All the staff did a bang up job! Thanks Dogwood we will be back.

Delightful bartender, dogs loved here, I was upstairs and it's over a 100 at 4pm in late July, yet most of upstairs, while outside, is shaded and has fans w misters blasting...it's quite comfy all considered. Good music to kik bak 2 and nice side stop walkin the dogs. The food looked great--Ill come bak when hungry for those mac n cheese variatiins and tacos. The brunch specials online look great. Happy to have stopped by.

Some of my best memories are here. Not just with my football fam, but many good times after long weeks at work. The service here is AMAZING, ALWAYS. Hands down. These people work so hard to give the best experience. Rezoned as a restaurant now and their Brunch menu is great! I recommend the Bloody Mary on Sunday, and the nachos. Quesadilla plate is awesome, it’s like a whole chicken breast in there. White claws galore, and they have this icee looking drink that is dangerous. Also... This is a Chargers Bar, Go Bolts! ⚡️⚡️

Sat at the tables upstairs, was told there weren't any waitresses after 15 minutes of waiting. My husband had to continuously walk to the bar for our beverages, napkins, ketchup and A1 sauce. We couldn't keep the condiments at our table since they only had one of each at the bar. Ordered chips & queso that never came, our burgers took 45 minutes to arrive at our table which were already cold. Be prepared to have patience coming here. My husband ended up getting an allergic reaction to the burger, may have been the oil.

Atmosphere: Fun and lively! Upstairs patio with bar as well as downstairs patio with two bars. Can get very crowded at night especially on weekends. Get there early if you would like a table. They do have one large seating area near a fire place upstairs. Menu: I have not eaten here but I believe they serve bar food, pizza and burgers type of thing. Pretty good drink menu from cocktails to beer they also have mini bottles of prosecco. Service is pretty decent but it is more like a "club" feel on the weekend.

  • Jermarick Barnes

Honestly I give this a 4 star .The Reason why they didn’t get a 5 stars is because the drinks are over priced! The Long island are $15 a drink but it was pretty with the fruits on top for as the look ! The service was great to buy us all rounds of shots on the house . I love the fact they were generous with us cause we did have nice big tab! That’s was very nice of Management and the bartenders of 2020 for Thanksgiving ❤️ I got nice Christmas Sweater i bought from this place and it’s dope

  • Gavin Lopez

sure enough, for the 3rd time, the Bartender lost my credit card. i asked for a Manager and after only having 3 Mich Ultras, he said maybe i left it somewhere and lost it....which i clearly didnt as he saw my tab was still open. between his stuttering and red eyes - i suggest you pay by cash or avoid this place overall. stick to lavaca, jack and gingers (both are cheaper). The managers dont know how to run a bar and with the mildew smell, spend your money elsewhere.

  • Whitney

I love the atmosphere here but have never been happy with the service. Most..not all of the daytime female bartenders do nothing but chat. As a former bartender you should be hustling, not chatting & moving slower than a speeding snail. I’m sure I’ll be back for the atmosphere because the service isn’t bringing me in. I hate to be that person & im sorry to leave this review. CAN YOU CLOSE US OUT ALREADY! Yes, I’m writing this as you are still ignoring.

It’s between Dogwood and Kung Fu for best bar on Rock Rose for me! I live around the corner, so I come here a lot. The drinks are great, the barspace is awesome since there are three bars, and the roof top area is super awesome. Great for a chill Sunday afternoon or a crunk Saturday night (make sure your phone’s charged for an Uber lol). Side note: their mac & cheese is fireeee. Highly recommend!

Food was great. Ordered a beer. Finished beer as I received my Hot Chicken Sandwich. Ate my sandwich with an empty pint glass, and was never asked if I wanted another beer. Rule 1 as a bartender..never take an empty pint glass without asking if the customer would like another, especially if they are still eating. Good thing is there are plenty of other watering holes in their street.

There are a lot of different places to go in the domain. DO NOT GO HERE! The guy standing at the door was rude and made lots of references to my being a senior citizen. The drinks where decent, but when he walked up to our table and asked " wasn't it pass my bedtime"?" , I felt like I had had enough. There is no need to take out your sad life on people that are paying for service at a business you happen to work at.

  • Lucas Rice

We had a group of 4 people and a stroller. Showed up at 12:15 when there was hardly 5 people in the place. Before we even got to the door, an employee wagged his finger at us and rudely turned us away. Why this is a rule at lunch hour on a weekend when we would have doubled your patron count is beyond me. This was one of my favorite places to go to in Domain and this pretty much ruined it for me.

  • Joshua Jones

Went out for some drinks with coworkers. Galo (not sure how to spell it) was our bartender and he was amazing. Helpful and friendly, definitely added to the experience. It's super spacious in there and the upstairs is nice and breezy. I wish they had more seating but there was a spot upstairs around a fire that was great. Be warned the heaters around the bar upstairs are HOT hot hot.

  • Jeffrey Forman

The door man was more worried about doing pull ups. Didn't get a chance to go in because of the young door man try to tell me I was drunk. When he saw me I was walking on pebbles also I have special arch supports to help me balance due to weak ankles. So I walk a little funny. Ended up going back across the street to another bar. Crazy thing we notice hardly anyone was over there.

I had been to the one in Houston, and so had high hopes for this one. Did not disappoint. The bar itself has a rooftop and PLENTY of space and even then it was PACKED by 5pm on Wednesday! That fact itself should tell you worlds about this bar. Friendly bartenders, great food and amazing drinks. The only problem is ... it's VERY hard to leave this place! You have been warned

  • Cynthia Vega-Hernandez

Very disappointed to see the bartenders not wearing masks. This causes me to have no confidence in their safety measures. I would not want to order food from them since I can't be sure the kitchen is following any safety measures. Not to mention the poor service we got, which is uncommon. I would expect these establishments to follow the rules until the mandate changes.

  • Kelsey Bowers

This bar is one of the better in the domain. You can find places to hang in large groups, lots of seating around the bar, and the roof to look out over. Drinks can be very large, but I opted for the Dogwood flower. It was more on the sour side, so you will need the salt rim to help balance it out. Sitting outside is much more enjoyable after the summer is over.

  • Boats Gilhooley (Boats)

The staff is awesome and the food outstanding. We had the fried pickles, street tacos, grilled cheese and the Dogwood burger. A little pricey but worth every penny. Panko crust on the pickles, fried green tomatoes on both the burger and sandwich give things a slightly different flavor. And again, the staff is super friendly. I will definitely be back.

  • Burton Wilcox

Stopped in for early happy hour. Staff was super helpful and attentive. Had the loaded tots...super tasty! If you go and order anything from Pinthouse Brewing...make sure you are ok with the price!! My only complaint is the small beer selection.

Was turned away for wearing flip flops on a Saturday night. Not sure what kind of establishment they think they are, but they are not at all an "upscale" establishment. I have been a patron for years and this new behavior has most definitely made them lose my repeat business and that of the friends who accompanied me.

  • Rodolfo Maldonado

I love that this place is dog friendly. I brought my puppy here and quickly felt at home. The atmosphere is always hip and trendy and the drinks aren't that badly priced. If you're in Austin make sure your come and take a look at what I'm talking about and experience good customer service with a friendly attitude.

  • Bryant Yang (Bryantlicious)

Terrible service and highly discriminatory. Wouldn’t let me in because my pants don’t have a front zipper, but bouncer was wearing a hoodie and jeans. Not even a high end bar where a dress code is even necessary. Don’t recommend, stay away, spend your money elsewhere. Businesses like this should not be operating.

  • Adam Johnson

I like it because they have what I want. I think. Maybe not because in the morning I remembered that I had lost my wallet there and they said they didn't have it. I ended up finding it in my jeans after they came out of the drier but they could have been nicer about it. It was both of our faults.

  • Crystal Verret

Why would a place need to keep my card just because I ordered drinks? This is an archaic practice. You should be able to swipe my card and then give it back! There are so many reasons that I don't want my card being held behind someone's bar. It's 2022 get with the times and update your process.

Place is nice but $12 for a beer before tips is insane. Tipped 3 dollars to my bartender but left after 1 beer cause there's no way I want to buy 5 $12 beers. Cost price for wholesale is less than $1.80 for a pint so $7-$8 is understandable max.

Went on a Friday night. The place had a nice crowd, the drinks were amazing. Has an upstairs with a rooftop bar. Music is a nice mix and not to loud so that you are unable to hold a conversation with your party. This is a bar done right! A must go if you are in the Domain!

  • J Roy

Pros: Good food, throwback music , nice 2 level scene rooftop. Cons: I suggest bring CASH ONLY due to the some bartenders being intoxicated not knowing who’s card to charge in which you will be paying for other people’s drinks. This mostly happens late-nights. Be advised!

Their staff is attentive even when it's crowded. They are also very nice. They are reasonably priced with good drink tastes too. It can be chaotic at random times (not UT Gameday, but other times). I didn't try the food yet.

  • Ross B

No staff sans door people wearing masks, including cook and bartender. Understaffed slow service , nobody bussing tables either. Seems like a place to get drunk on overpriced and poorly made drinks in a nice rooftop setting.

  • Nick Gutierrez

Bouncer denied me (22M) access because my drivers license's from PA has "not for real ID purposes" which is common. Was non-cooperative and rude. Would not scan the ID and I missed an event because of it.

Okay bar. Friendly staff. Cops in uniform seemed to camp out with no purpose just hanging out on the patio, not drinking just loitering. Also, the men's bathroom was appalling, it wreaked of piss and was visibly unclean.

  • Tatiana Oh

Great place for a beer, fun atmosphere and solid service. Their Classic Burger is also really good, worth it for a pub-style burger. Love that they are so dog friendly, roof patio is a hotspot in the warm weather.

We always visit Dogwood when at The Domain. Yesterday when I closed our tab with the bartender upstairs. They didn't give me my card back...I've been calling since they've opened today, and no one answers!!!

Alright place for a drink. The TV layout for games are a little hard to see in some tables, but the prices are decent.

Atmosphere was great. Loved the outdoor bar and DJ. Would have given more stars but the service was mediocre. The bartender seemed so uninterested in providing service. A little smile goes a long way.

  • Amanda Lucy

Really nice vibe with rooftop area. Good place to people watch on the street below. Only thing I noticed was the occasional smell of trash. Think the concrete needs a good power wash up there …

  • Jeremy Gonzalez

I had a blast here! Great food and the view was great! I'm from out of town so this was a new experience! Definitely will come back when we are in Austin. Not too far from many other things.

  • Mathew Dominguez

One of my favorite bars to enjoy! I love the openness of the rooftop area it is awesome on nice summer nights. Even during the fall it is nice especially if you camp out near the fire pit.

  • Sally Whitmore

Fun place! Rooftop area is nice with the decor. The staff were incredibly understanding of a need to cancel an order because they don't allow kids in (friends were coming to meet us).

The staff are cool and I love the space but Omg are the drinks overpriced. 3 beverages and it was over 60 bucks!

A nice place with an outdoor fire pit upstairs. Vegetarian friendly, no vegan menu items. No hot drinks for a brisk evening (cider, punch..) but a decent selection of beers and wine.

  • Luis Torres

I don't know what happened, but the music is just not giving domain vibes, the music so outdated. Please give us popping music.

Boojie spot in the domain. Has inside, outside, upstairs, and downstairs. Belinis are kinda expensive, food Iis alright, but overall not a bad place for a few drinks and food.

  • Mason Eisenbach

Good location. Very small upstairs, also very hot in the enclosed area. It was decent pit stop. Mostly liberal beers on tap.

First time, last time. Sticky tables, no service. Had to bus own table to sit. Had to wait at long lines around bar to get a drink that was over priced and watered down.

  • Mitchell Repp

Go upstairs, the atmosphere is more relaxing and quiet for conversation up there. If you like shouting constantly, hangout at the bar at street level. Drinks were great.

Law was AWESOME in serving us drinks that we needed for the night! The whole atmosphere was fun and energetic! Come her for fun cocktails and entertainment!

  • Daniel Klueter

Favorite place to start the weekend. Only ever had drinks here, but love the roof top atmosphere. Good music and always seems to be going by 6 pm Friday.

  • Ravi Singh

Staff is friendly and very active trying to manage the busy crowd. Food was good. However, dining tables were very dirty, sticky and unhygienic.

  • Grace Loh

A good place to have drinks and light meal with friends. The drinks are inconsistent though, it’s better earlier in the evening than later.

  • Elias Huerta

Came for the atmosphere, left. Nice staff, though! Drinks have lots of room for improvement and prices are way out of wack for a casual bar

Pretty nice establishment with plenty of room on both levels. Upstairs gives you a nice view of the busy street below...

  • Azzam Aziz

Great atmosphere, good place for corporate happy hours, quick and nice staff, fairly priced items, and clean bathrooms.

  • Sarah Lynn

We had a great time here. The music was "older" fun dance music, and the staff was prompt and friendly.

  • Josh Ray

Fun bar! We were on the rooftop, young vibrant crowd. Food was pretty good, too :)

  • Dave Lutz

Great rooftop bar, friendly bartenders and delicious pulled pork nachos!
