I must say this is quite a unique gem in the community, and has delicious things to offer I must say. But when it comes to price and the wait for your food kind of dumbs down the experience. Let's discuss. Firstly as stated the food is outstanding, nice and hot and always fresh food! I wasn't paid to say that but I'm just stating facts here. The burgers fresh off the grill are something to look forward too when coming here. But sometimes your order gets halted when they focus on other orders, no big deal. And the staff there are friendly as always. But here is where the negative things about this small joint come in. Firstly I feel like the cost for the food is too much, sure quality for price, but no. Yes it's homemade but 7 dollars for a deluxe burger? That's a bit too much. Okay the prices are wonky, and 6 dollars for 6 mac and cheese wedges? The wedges aren't even that big and it's like a buck per wedge! Okay that's way too much, so just bring down the prices and I think more people will be happy. And now the wait, you will wait at least 15 20 minutes when ordering. Now it's a small place so it's not as quick as mcdonalds ok, but when it's plus 30c. I hate standing out in the hot sun sweating. And yeah so they are a good food joint, but some improvements are to be made

It's a walkup style restaurant. There is no dine in. Called in to place my order when I got there my order was just ready got home and it was still hot. The double fat boy was tasty. The bacon cheeseburger the bacon was a little bit too crispy but can't really complain because the burger was good. The fries could have been cooked a little bit more over all it was good. The chicken wings were just OK I thought they were a little bit expensive it was one pound of wings. 9 wings for $14.99 We've been to this restaurant a few times and honestly I don't think I'll be going back. It seems like their meat has no seasoning in it. We had the bacon burgers this time lacked flavor. Like they don't season their meat. We also had a curly fried protein which was excellent and we got the fried pickles which were OK.

I have been twice this summer, first time I ordered a Vegi burger received a regular meat burger, they were super rude about it! My second and which will be my very last visit I called in my order for a certain pick up time, was there on time but had to wait 10 minutes for fries, the Vegi burger was dry very little, almost none of the Curry Mayo sauce only ate half. Called the next day they offered another burger for pick up, the staff were rude, argued with me that the sauce soaked into the bun because I was late picking up my order... which I was NOT! told me next time to order extra sauce. I had never had to ask in the past! the replacement burger I picked up was good even though I was late picking this one up... but after a few bites lost my appetite thinking about the way I was treated... bad for business

Love it! Best burgers and a Winnipeg classic.

I have to say the fries are perfectly golden & perfectly crisp. Poutine is made with real cheese curds & the gravy has a nice taste. If you like your poutine smoothered in gravy you may want to order extra gravy on it. I had the Sweet Dreams burger as the sirracha & mozza sticks on it had me intrigued & it was pretty good. I'd recommend if you're looking for a "fatboy" kinda burger joint. They hold up to all the other places. Note, this place is a walk-up but there are some tables to enjoy your meal at.

What a great burger! Plate licking good! We had a deluxe cheeseburger and a Weber. The deluxe cheeseburger reminded us of a more tasty and better quality Teen Burger. The Weber was a revelation. The peanut butter and jam were so much fun! The sriracha was a bit lost, but the bacon on both the burgers was great quality. Fries were decent but not a show stopper like the burgers. Burgers were not huge compared to others in the city. If I was hungry I would probably order 2. Can't wait to go back and try other burgers and the homemade veggie burger.

It's Burger week we had a massive Burger I'm not sure what it was called kicking brother ordered but it was awful feeling it was worth the drive

McGregor and Bannerman close to the Army barracks where the tanks are outside ice cream lots of ice cream too Perkins right there so are the picnic tables it was okay no complaints maybe one it was kind of windy not too bad.

Food is great. Poor management though. The hrs they open tho are different all the time. Some times they will be open at 11 am and some times they won't open till 2. I usually call in my order so it can be ready when I get there, but lately they for some reason they don't like picking up the phone. Customer service was poor. The cook likes closing the window on you when your about to make your order. He can at least say one moment or somthing not just slam the window shut when your trying to order.

North star is one of our main burger joints every summer for about 3 years now. We never miss burger week (so far they always take our votes). The sweet dreams are made of cheese is a cheesey masterpiece! Die hard burger lovers need to try it. They also (imo) make the best cheese dogs. When we were doing kitchen renos and had no sink (or kitchen..) for 3 monthes.. we'd order cheese dogs at least twice a week, and always with a poutine. For 10$ you cant get a larger or better poutine in Winnipeg!

Me and my fiance tried this place yesterday for the first time and we were positively shocked. The price was a bit higher than we expected and I had really high expectations but wasnt expecting much. We waited for a bit got our burgers. We took our first bite, looked at each other and both had the same shock. Your burgers are so delicious it is our new favourite! So why am I giving them 4 stars. Well because it is our favourite burger, we'd like to eat it more often, but it's a bit pricey!

Tried the cheeseburger deluxe combo and was quite pleased. There’s a lot they got right on what we used to call a drag-it-through-the-garden style burger. The cook on the meat, the selection and application of the toppings, the right bun, and oh my, where did you get that bacon? I’d rate it 4.5 stars if I could, knocking a bit for good but oily onion rings and fries that were somehow dry, although you get a bunch of them. Looking forward to getting back to try more of the interesting menu!

The only thing I don’t like is that you are closed Monday and Tuesday booo I think you should stay open 7 days a week my children love your fries and poutine and my sister says your burgers are so good and tasty

I haven't eaten food from The North Star in over 10 years! I'm house sitting in the neighborhood and before I go back home I knew I had to order from here. Ordered through Skip. My order came fast, portions were huge and it tasted phenomenal!!!!! I ordered The Weber Combo with a poutine and mozza sticks on the side. Sooooo good. It'll be worth the 30 minute drive when I order again.

Dined here for the first time this weekend. I had a bacon cheese dog, it is THE best hotdog I have ever had. Perfect ratios and flavours. Poutine was also very good. I would certainly recommend a stop here!

I've been here a couple of times, and the food is really good. They also have amazing milkshakes, their only downfall is that the one time I had their hard ice cream, it was definitely freezer burnt.

Ordered through SkipTheDishes, we were missing food items from our order and the burger patty fell apart into tiny pieces after the first bite. Fries were all small little pieces, most were over cooked and soaked in grease. Definitely won’t be ordering from here again. I was so disappointed because everyone says it’s soooo good.

I really like the burgers. Personally prefer my french fries to have the skin removed but they are not bad when the oil is fresh. That might be once every 4 or 5 visits. Pricing is very affordable. Would have preferred to see the staff all wearing masks today. One person was masked, one had no mask and the cook was wearing his mask as a chin warmer.

Went for lunch with the coworkers (4 of us total) and we each got a different burger. We were all very pleased with the quality, taste, and the size of the portions. The food took a few minutes to be made fresh to order and it was a good value for the money! I personally will be coming back if I'm ever craving a burger and some house cut fries!

Had their hotdog. I liked it because it was basic with not too much stuff on it making it unenjoyable. It had onions, pickles and mustard(I think). Only thing I wasnt happy about was the bun was not fresh bordering on stale. I’d go back and try the cheeseburger as the wife said it was REALLY good. #Wpgcovidburgerjointtour on facebook.

Ordered takeout and was given rude remarks and sighs. The food is good however it's unfortunate that the manager doesn't appear to be a nice person. I do hope his attitude improves in the future. Very unfortunate for a local place with decent food.

Their fries are great and they use quality beef that tastes like beef, not filler. The owner isn't exactly friendly and personable but the hired window staff are pleasant to deal with. I have had them mess up my "no onion" request twice, so you might want to check before driving away if such things are very important.

Fries taste sweet and of potatoes. Fat boy was well made with nice chili. Only complaint is that the fries, while well browned were a little soft/floppy for my tastes (I know some prefer them this way). From ordering to ready, fresh cooked food was about 10 minutes. Well worth a stop, I will return when in the area.

Have I not mentioned??? North Star Drive-In. Hands down...has thee best veggie burgers in Winnipeg (perhaps all of Manitoba)! Thanks for consistently creating these delightful burgers of bliss!!!! Note to self - Get back to North Star for another veggie burger!!!

Absolutely outstanding food. It's all freshly made. The ingredients are all fresh. I had the poutine. It had lots of gravy and curds. It was made perfectly. The fat boy came with fresh lettuce tomatoes, pickles, onions and chili. It was so delicious. You have to try this place! I only will say its good if it is.

I've been going to the North Star Drive-In since I was a kid coming home from school! Absolutely delicious every time. Their poutine has an excellent gravy and the fries were still crunchy, not to mention it had the perfect amount of cheese. The burger was also amazing, cooked to perfection!

Burger had a good taste. But was not hot. I think the lettuce was cold and it cooled of the burger. FF were hot .

I have enjoyed all the food that I have tried. Generous portions and ice cream for dessert, if you still have room! There's a few picnic tables, to eat there. Signs say they take cash, debit or bitcoin. You can also use the online service if you want to pick it up or have it delivered.

Excellent Burgers, fries, and everything! Ordered online and my order was ready shortly after I arrived to pick it up. Friendly staff as well. If you're in the area this is definitely one of the places you HAVE to go for food, they also have a patio if you want to eat outside!

Really delicious burgers. The basics are tasty as expected. The thing that I like especially is the exciting and unexpected flavour combinations; who would have thought peanut butter, jam, bacon, sriracha and burger would work, but it sure does. I will hopefully be back.

The food here is awesome. The homecut fries are the best skin-on fries I've ever had. And the burgers are top notch too. And they're affordable 2 bacon cheeseburger meals is just over 20 bucks... I definately suggest stopping in and eating here. It's worth it..

Though my husband and I grew up in the North End, neither of us had ever been to the North Star Drive-In. We went for Burger Week and it was excellent and very reasonably priced

Oh man, I love their onion rings!!! The only thing I would change about this place is being able to order online for less wait times. We would eat there even more if that was an option but even without that the food is decent and not to badly priced.

Fantastic burger and fries, worth the wait! Get your order in and wait, The NorthStar does the flat-top burger well. A tasty juicy beef patty with the right amount of crisp and a boat load (well, bag) of handcut fries, you won't be disappointed.

Their vegan Beyond Burger is AMAZING. A huge juicy patty covered in vegan mayo and other delicious toppings. This is the most delicious faux meat burger I've had. Their fries come with amazing vegan gravy as well. Totally exceeded expectations.

This place is a friggin' gem! The food here is fantastic and not overwhellmingly greasy like some other burger joints. Lots of great options on the menu and the customer service is great too! I HIGHLY recommend this place! You won't regret it!

Hands down one of the best, if not the best burger joint in the city. I order from here ALL the time and I've never once had any issues. Amazing, fresh food. Their poutine is to die for and their special inhouse mayo dressing is fantastic.

I believe they have the most generous portions when it comes to ice cream cones. bought me 2 ice cream cones for my 2 kids.. we could not finish it. 1 would have been enough. definitely coming here for ice cream again. highly recommended.

Ordered the sweet dreams are made of cheese, it was an ugly burger but it tasted pretty good. Mozzarella sticks on a burger was an interesting topping, first time having that. I was pretty impressed with it, better than I expected.
