"Great view and atmosphere but the food is not worth the price , started with a host telling us we must order an entree before going up in the elevator, which in my opinion is not an upscale experience, especially with the prices of the appetizers, the view was great and enjoyed a sunset with my oysters, which if you combined all 5 of them would give you one or two bites, then decided to order the lobster for $92 , unfortunately I was not told that it was not lobster tails but a full lobster that part of it was taken out and stuffed with dried out stuffing with very little crab in it , after working to crack open the shells I had about 2 bites of lobster and the crab stuffing was so dried out I couldn’t eat it , the vegetables unfortunately were under the shell of the lobster instead of a separate plate and couldn’t even eat those very well, had to order dessert since I was still hungry and ordered the strawberry shortcake that wasn’t shortcake but cheesecake, when asked about it the server said it was the chefs version of shortcake , when all done I spent $175 for one person and was still hungry after eating, would highly recommended you get steak or something besides lobster or go to another restaurant, I liked the view , but the service and the food were not worth the price, thank you"

Incredible experience. The Sun Dial is a “high” end restaurant and venue, located on the 72nd floor of the Westin Hotel in Atlanta. Forewarned is forearmed — food and drinks here are excessively pricy, so ensure you have deep pockets and cash to spare. I visited here on my 31st birthday, alongside my sister. Together, it was truly a memorable experience for me. I laud it as a once-in-a-lifetime event. If you ever find yourself in Atlanta — do yourself a favor, dine here. Parking, I don't have any tips in particular, as we walked to the restaurant directly from the Georgia Aquarium, and had parked in its attached garage. Our brief, scenic route took us through Centennial Park, the colored Olympic rings, straight into a grand hotel lobby entrance for the Westin, with revolving doors to boot. Head up the stairs, and the signs pointing to reception for the Sun Dial are unmistakeable. I recommend booking a reservation online, at around the cusp of sunset and nighttime ideally, so you can see both the day wind down and the (famed) wondrous nighttime city view of downtown Atlanta. I hastily booked it much earlier than sunset -- at 6:15pm -- as it was the only slot available to me, on my birthday which falls on a Friday this year, the first week of magnificent July. We were ushered into an open-glass elevator, with worthwhile views looking out into the cityscape of Atlanta, as it ascends. It stops on the 72nd floor, and drops you into a waiting room, with the final reception and checkpoint for seating, straight ahead. Drinks — we ordered White Chocolate Mudslide & Atlanta Hurricane. The Mudslide is essentially a glorified “milkshake” with a hefty price tag, but it was sweet and chocolatey and hit the spot. In hindsight, I would skip it, as most burger spots can make equivalent shakes. The Atlanta Hurricane came in rimmed with a fresh strawberry & pineapple, with both halves of the colored liquids mirroring the fruity tastes. I laud its interesting flavor, and would get it the next time. Appetizers — Fried Calamari, and complementary bread (white and sourdough) with butter. Bread was solid, not great. Calamari was worth it, and comes with fried pickles, which may not be everyone’s jam. I spent way too much time eating the pickles, and “clearing the way” so to speak. This effort was largely wasted. Just go for calamari, and be warned, the dish *is* served with lot of pickles. Entrees — Halibut & Filet Mignon w/ Whipped Potatoes. I tasted the Halibut and it was just so-so, my sister enjoyed it. I had the Filet Mignon, and the price was a close second to the days-aged strip steak, which cost almost a mind-blowing, head-turning, & eye-popping 100$, understated as a “pretty penny”. I would rate it as *above-average* & ultimately not worth the exorbitant price tag. Let’s fact it, there are upscale restaurants that can do better, for much less. However, it was worth it, when the ambiance is taken into consideration. Ambiance — Speaking of, there are great window views to be had, and family-photo-worthy scenes to be snapped. After our meal, we took the short flight of stairs up & strolled around, exploring the observatory and above deck. I would likewise recommend taking a tour of the place, time allowing. Final thoughts — The receipt is attached, so food+drink pricing can be weighed and taken into consideration. I am detracting a star for the super-high prices & underwhelming taste. This is definitely the most expensive sit-down spot I’ve been to (so far), but worth it for a first-time experience. The stunning views alone — indoors and otherwise — ensure this. As a keepsake, one is given the option of taking home the original drink glasses, which is a sublime touch. All in all, this was a wonderful way to spend my birthday with family, and we both enjoyed the views and sit-down experience at the “high” end Sun Dial restaurant. I heartily recommend to others who likewise visit Atlanta, as this is a “must-go” experience. Especially if it is your birthday, there is no better way to spend the evening in Atlanta — trust me!

Beautiful venue with amazing sites of the Atlanta skyline. My husband took me here for my birthday and I was so excited by his choice. The Sun Dial Room is reservation only and access is through a direct elevator enclosed in glass. If you are afraid of heights closing your eyes is recommended. I personally enjoyed the view on the way up and was able to clearly see the cityscape and the evening traffic. Also The elevator space is like a cylinder so it's tighter than the average elevator. If you are claustrophobic maybe travel with just one other person for your personal comfort. The sundial room is accessed level 72 of the Westin however the restaurant is two levels (level 71 and 72). On the upper level you are able to check in as well as walk around the floor and see multiple vignettes of the Atlanta skyline. There are large tablets with details of the buildings within a specific view as well as telescopes to get a closer look of the city. Dining is downstairs on level 71. The restaurant used to have a slow rotating floor that literally spun you around so you can see a 360 view of the surrounding city however that aspect is no longer an option. We still very much enjoyed our stationary view and didn't take much away too from the overall experience. Our server Peter was excellent! He was so personable and gave great recommendations on the menu. Anything we had questions on he was able to explain in a way that was simple and concise. The food was expensive and portion sizes were small, but it was delicious and very well cooked. I would not dine here often, but worth it on a special occasion for the ambience and service. Just a warning now, DO NOT USE ANY OTHER ELEVATOR BESIDES THE GLASS ELEVATOR ONCE YOU GET TO SUN DIAL ROOM. I wore heels and wanted to use the restroom which was on the upper level. I made the mistake of getting into a standard elevator towards the middle of the building in order to get upstairs. Since I was not a guest, I did not have a room key to access any of the floors so I could not access floor 72 nor could I open the doors on 71 to get back to my table. I was afraid that I was going to be stuck in the elevator with no way to reach my husband since my phone did not have service once inside. The elevator did not have a call "for help" button, only an alarm which no one seemed to hear (I asked my husband if he heard me banging on the door and ringing the alarm and he heard nothing). After a few minutes inside and calming myself down, I tried pressing the lobby floor button and the elevator took me down all the way back to the bottom of the hotel. Fortunately I was not stuck however it was a scary moment and inconvenient/embarrassing having to travel all the way back up on the glass elevator. With that being said if there is a person in your party that would need wheelchair access, you may want to mention that when the making the reservation. I would imagine that someone in that circumstance would be able to access the sundial room using the standard elevator with access from an employee because the Sun Dial room elevator only goes to floor 72 and not 71 which is the level for actual dining.

Parking is towards the back of the hotel which was a bit confusing to find at first. The valet was a little slow to take our car upon arrival and it had not seemed as though it was not actually parked while we were dining because it was in the same exact spot as we left it. We went on a Wednesday evening and it did not seem busy upon arrival however it is a hotel so the delay may have been due to hotel guests or hired cars they had to sort out as well.

Have been here many times in the past. Prior issues have shut down the dial movement, but that is a non issue. Kim, our waiter was as professional as any guest could expect. He suggested the finer selections, adjusted to our concerns and besides the excellent food, made our evening. I have dental issues and hesitated to order the filet. My wife(her 62nd birthday dinner surprise) and our son placed their order and it was on! Two additional individuals brought bread, excellent, and refilled our beverages at just the right time. It is not an inexpensive meal, it is a destination you should visit for that special evening after a jaunt around Atlanta. The entire experience from the elevator ride(I forgot it was attached to the outside the hotel) to placing our order, to eating a filet that was masterfully cooked at my Medium Well demand. It was a spur of the moment trip before our son returned to the 11th grade and we couldn't have expected a better experience if we had ordered it up ourselves(No pun intended). A class act from beginning to end!!! Kim, restaurant staff and management know what they are doing and they do it very, very well! They should include Filet Mignon as a selection below. It was superb and cooked exactly as we ask!! Kudos to the cooks

Shout out to James. Amazing guy. Whole experience was spectacular. Had bread to start with olive oil and butter. Ordered drinks, southern fried calamari, ravioli, salmon, chicken, 8oz medium filet mignon, broccolini, mashed potatoes. Was graciously offered James' favorite strawberry cheesecake for my parents' anniversary. Ordered one tiramisu too which was mind blowing. They were able to make a Arnold Palmer here by using unsweetened iced tea, packets of sugar, and lemons as they didn't have sweet iced tea nor regular lemonade. Overall it was a fantastic experience best saved for ultra special occasions! Highly recommend. The views are breathtaking. Very comfortable seating.

Went for my birthday. Husband made a reservation and was able to be seated before the time since it wasn't really busy. Server was very informative with the menu and Atlanta itself since I'm new to the city. Don't expect it to move to see the whole city as you eat. There was an incident that happened that was tragic that stopped them from operating that feature/perk. Yeah I researched it. What a terrible tragedy. Other than that, the views are amazing during sunset. The food and drinks were great. You receive the same glasses as your daiquiri before you depart. Overall great experience!

We were staying at the Westin so the Sun dial restaurant so it was easy to get there. You check-in at the ground floor and ride the elevator to the 72nd floor in al all-glass elevator giving spectacular views. If don't like heights, just close your eyes ;) You exit the elevator to a tri-level restaurant that is very open with 360 degree views of Atlanta and beyond. Peter was our server, he was simply the best. Guys, even the bread basket was top notch. We ordered a bottle of wine and the smoked belly appetizer. I had the tomahawk pork chop and my date had the chilean sea bass. For dessert I had the strawberry shortcake because they were out of the bread pudding :( but it was very good and my date had the creme brulee. We then waddled back to our room, full and happy. Def recommend and make a reservation and ask for Peter.

A true five star experience. The service, the view, and the food really exceeded all expectations. This was an awesome dinning experience. After some bad dining experiences at very well reviewed restaurants in the area because of the labor shortages, my group didn't know what to expect here. From the moment I tried to make my reservation, I was impressed by the service and care all the staff took. The food itself was also amazing. To start, the Sweet and Tangy crispy shrimp and fried green tomatoes were really great. We had several Entrees that all tasted great. The bone in Ribeye and BBQ Pork Tomahawk stood out as the favorites. That Pork was perfectly cooked and had such a favored, crispy crust. Overall, this was the best dinning experience of our trip and I'll for sure coming back here when I'm in Atlanta.

Minimal to none vegetarian options - 1 vegetarian salad, no vegetarian appetizers, 1 vegetarian entree in the entire menu Server was also okay - main waitress came here and there, but the servers & other staff walking around assisted more often without us having to ask. We waited a long time just to request the check at the end too since our waitress kept disappearing. Food also came out way too quick and not timed appropriately to enjoy the experience. The salad came out the same time as the entree, so by the time we started eating the entree it was cold.

The place is amazing, it gives a view of the city and at times the entire restaurant rotates physically in a circle to see the city. Beautiful view of Atlanta. The food is amazing, if possible I would give it a solid 5 possibly a 6 if that were an option. Our server did an amazing job, even as he attended other tables. It is not a cheap place but a place for special occasions, though I recommend going at least once. If you are afraid of heights be warned- the elevator goes up 70 something stories and its glass on most sides. Be prepared to not watch as you ascend. If you enjoy heights, enjoy the view!

Terrible server, I had order sea food , oyster, aged steaks .First of all I expect 98 dollars sea food should have a better looking plate, it looks like eating in the cheap restaurants.Second,I expected the steak is huge, but it is not , I was thinking to share this steak with my son, so I ask for a plate to split it up, the server first telling me that they don’t have plates, but the funniest part is at the end , they charge me a split plate price which is 22 dollars. The worst part is the server tell me that my attitude was bad , and she decided to ask the manager to come , because I ask her for a plate, this is the basest restaurant I have ever been, please if you want to have a nice dinner, please don’t go , very very very bad

The restaurant food is not worth the money. The lobster at $77 is not fresh and look reheated with lots of black stuff that we had to return. The pork chop at $71 wasn't worth it with all the salt. The steak at $93 was terrible. The crab rice is horrible. The crab cake was tasty but lots of fillings. The calamari was best appetizer and the fried chicken was the best entree. Don't waste your time for entrees just over priced for no reason. If you just want to enjoy the atmosphere just order drinks and appetizers. Otherwise you will be wasting your money.

I recently visited this restaurant with my husband. I wanted to find something special to celebrate his birthday. This was definitely a good pick! Making the reservation was very simple and even us running a little late through traffic they still held our reservation. The elevator ride up was awesome, your literally on top of the beautiful city. I’m kind of wishing I made my reservation later so we could experience the gorgeous sunset. The menu had some good selections. Not to mention the drinks! They were AMAZING. The staff was also so welcoming and friendly. It was definitely a good experience all to say the least. I would highly recommend if you are visiting Atlanta. This restaurant is a cool place to check out!

Wasn’t at all what I expected… Our food was cold upon arrival and appeared to have been sitting under the heat lamp; our Server Michael lacked patience, often times grew frustrated from simple questions regarding the menu and based upon what he stated the Chef doesn’t allow for substitutions on entrees… I’ve personally dined at finer establishments and have been able to substitute a food item as well as received exceptional service and better food. One spends on average $125/PP and as a result should receive stellar service all the way around! I don’t recommend this place under any circumstances.

We celebrate our Anniversary here and the views are spectacular. Our server was excellent and the entire staff was great. However, the food left something to be desired. For the bill, and we spend around $400 with an appetizer and drinks, we've had better. The menu was limited but nothing not worth. The food was delicious but over priced. We've held more exiting food at lower tier restaurants. I wish they would revamp their menu periodically or have some creative options. But the view, did make it a memorable experience. Also, it no longer spins as of 5 years ago.

Loved the atmosphere. The views are absolutely amazing and the service was excellent. Please be sure to make a reservation though, or you might not get a table. I thought the food was very mediocre. For the appetizer, we got the fried quail which was too crispy and dry. For the main course, we got the pork chops and spaghetti with scrimp and scallops. Both were not well seasoned and definitely not something we'd order again. The bread was cold. After spending $311 on a meal for 2, we left feeling unsatisfied and ready to hit another restaurant for food.

I am giving this place 5 stars for a very special evening together with my Honey. We were able to experience the SunDial here in Atlanta to celebrate our anniversary. We made it at sunset and when the sun had set, the Atlanta lit up skyline was beautiful. Our service, by Peter was fantastic. Attentive, personable, and professional. Our food was definitely flavored and perfectly cooked. Even though we were full, we had the full experience topping it off with some chocolate cake. If you’d like this special experience, I’d definitely recommend.

A one of a kind experience. I just wish it was still rotating, but nonetheless still breathe taking. The view is amazing and the food is exquisite, not worth the price but worth the experience of course. We went for a birthday celebration and plan to go back again soon. A sun set view would be an ideal time to dine at the Sun Dial restaurant. With views like the Mercedes Benz stadium and Georgia Aquarium.

This restaurant is outstanding for many reasons, obviously the view is incredible starting from the elevator to the tables. The service is very personalized and we liked that. We started with shrimps and was delicious, for the main course we ordered raviolis and fish, both really good! And a crème bulle to complete our dinner. They also have a good selection of cocktails, wines and spirits. Peach martini was great. Few important things to know, make sure you get you reservation with enough time and keep in mind that is not cheap but the entire experience worth it.

We visited this past Saturday and when we walked in, the atmosphere was EXCELLENT. Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable about the drinks and food choices. The presentation of the food was BEAUTIFUL but the food was very overrated. I wished the food tasted as good as the scenery from our table. The steak and salmon was dry but we were hungry. lol So if you order the steak or salmon make sure you specify how you want it cooked.

It was an interesting dinner date. Peter, our waiter, was exceptionally good. My wife liked her calamari but loved the lobster. I had the belly pork, which was tender. The dressing was exceptionally lovely. My halibut was expertly done. The view going up in the elevator is one to savour. I suggest a walk around the restaurant to view Atlanta from such an ideal height.

My boyfriend made reservations for this restaurant for my birthday. When we arrived we parked on the street nearby. We walked in, and the restaurant is located on the 72nd floor. The restaurant and views are very nice. It was foggy because of the weather so I couldn't get good pictures. We had a wonderful server (I believe her name was Shawna). I started with the pinot nior, which was tasty. For my meal, I got the Southern Fried Airline Chicken, and my boyfriend got the salmon. The food was very good, a bit pricey but good. I had such a good experience!

First of all our server ms ann was amazing, engaging and so much fun… so much history learned about the sundail as she talked to us about the menu and restaurant. Loved her hospitality! At the top of the westin, you are paying for the experience and the view! The food is good and plated well but expensive. Remember, you are paying for the scenery. You can get way better food elsewhere, but the views of the Atlanta skyline are world class! Fyi… the elevator ride is not for the faint of heart. 4 stars bc the elevator ride was terrifying

  • Crystal Nephew

Beautiful, almost breath taking scenery. They have a different menu for larger groups that don't give substitute, as was told by our server. The server/waiter we had was pretty aggressive with a lot of unnecessary attitude. There were other kind workers. The food was mediocre, especially for what they were priced at. Think of it this way: you're paying for the views.

I went here with my husband. This was our third time visiting this restaurant, just so you know in advance you can’t go up to the restaurant without reservations and the bar is closed. The food is good but not really worth the price, your really paying for the amazing view. The view is really worth it! I had the chicken and my husband had the salmon, if your looking for excellent food and don’t care about the view this isn’t the place for you, you can get better food at many other restaurants.

  • Vanessa Rdz

Service good, however... the food is super overpriced, a view that you can get by getting a room from anything on the 40th floor and above and the restaurant does not rotate anymore after an accident that happened years ago. Nothing special in general. I ordered the Ceviche and it was definitely not good and the avocado that came with it was not ripen enough.

Absolutely the best. The food, the server Jeff, the drinks, the complimentary Sun Dial glasses to take with us. I recommend this place. It is perfect for a romantic date during sunset. Definitely not cheap, but it is worth it to go at least once. The view is breathtaking. Special recognition for our server, Moon, who went above and beyond to help me prepare a surprise for my boyfriend before he left the country.

I give 3 stars for the view. The food was not good at all. $72 for a small plate of seafood. The oysters looked a hundred years old so we didn’t eat them to avoid getting sick. The staff was nice. If you are looking for nice views this is a great spot.

Food was okay a little dry but it might just be a preference thing. Staff were friendly and approachable. The view is simply spectacular. Its a nice way to treat your date for something fancy and will surely impress here. The whole experience was worth the price .We enjoyed the long glass elevator ride and that was a huge bonus. We will definitely comeback.

We love Ms Ann. Thank you for your excellent suggestions. Even if we were sitting in the clouds, it was worth it. 5 stars- it’s more than the view- it was delicious! Pictured are the halibut and sea bass from the new, spring menu. Paired with the federalist (we just aren’t white wine people, so we opted for the usual red). But still perfect.

Great atmosphere and outstanding service, but the menu could be better, very few entrees options, and the bar was closed.

Amazing view, no spin and average overpriced food. The $90 medium rare filet was well done. Food is average and the restaurant hasn’t spun in 5 years. The view was great though and our server was 5 stars amazing.

The views from the Sundial were magnificent, and it was quite beautiful to see the top attraction sites from there. The wait was long and a bit iffy as I set reservations at 5:15pm and was not attended until 5:45pm. Overall the view kept me

We really enjoyed the facility views and the dining experience as a whole. The visit was a celebration dinner for our 13 year old, as well as our first encounter with the Sundial restaurant.
