The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is that my girlfriend did leave here feeling better than when we came. We had spent all day moving into our new place a few blocks from here and neither of us did a great job a drinking water and my girlfriend was suffering from dehydration. I brought her here to get helped and we had a multitude of issues. We got there and already the check in people were confused. There were two of them a trainee and a trainer. The trainee was checking us in and asked for the same information several times and the trainer was not helping very well or taking over at any point. The trainee was very kind and apologetic but it was very frustrating to deal with while my girlfriend was nearly passing out. I felt like the trainer should have stepped in. When my girlfriend was in her room I understandably wasn't allowed to come to reduce people back there during the covid 19 epidemic and I witness the most petty thing ever. I was in the lobby and an ambulance arrived but because it was the middle of the night the security guard had to buzz in the paramedics. Because all security guy was doing was playing games on his phone and watching preacher on the television he didn't notice the paramedics. The paramedics had what looked to me to be a very sick person and were obviously in a hurry and the paramedic knocked on the window to get the security guards attention. The security guard was so offended that he gave the paramedic a dirty look did the "come at me" thing with his hands and very slowly walked to the buzz in thing while staring at the paramedic. What a disgusting person to put his own pride above another person's life, what if those extra seconds are were what made the difference between the sick man living or dying. Is pride worth that? On top of all of that my girlfriend didnt even feel payed attention too at all while she was being taken care of. They did a IV of something to rehydrate her and then left her. She said she waited a whole hour at one point thirsty and waiting for someone to come back so she could ask for water. When she was done and ready to leave they kept telling her for a couple hours that they had to wait for test results and then they sent her away without explaining any of the test results!? Overall terrible place, worth a longer drive to another hospital. The extra drive probably is worth it with their long check in times and lack of any care and respect.

Possibly the scariest ER I have ever been to. Had a minor issue and decided to take them up on their constant "no wait ER" billboards I see around the neighborhood instead of going all the way downtown. ER was absolutely deserted/there was no wait, so there's that. Their staff was rude and confused. After being put in a room, despite there being no one else in the ER, we waited about half an hour while listening to a constant call over the PA system for a code blue. Eventually, we heard the nurses and ER doc figure out that there wasn't another doctor and the ER doc had to go upstairs for the code. Not a problem on our end, these things happen, but a bit scary how long it took them to figure out what was going on/who should be responding to it. Doctor eventually came in the room, didn't introduce himself in any way other than "the doctor", asked me two questions, touched an open wound on my body without gloves, and then walked out of the room without another word. We hear him laughing and talking about sports with a nurse from the other side of the curtain. At this point, we're already thinking of leaving but decide to talk to the doctor first. I have my friend go look for him. He comes back into the room 10 minutes later looking annoyed and literally looks at me and says "what?". I asked him what was going on and he named two tests he wanted to get with no further explanation/opportunity for questions and walked out of the room without another word yet again. For background, I am a medical student, as were the two other people with me. At this point, we're thinking that nothing this guy wants to do makes any sense, but are hesitant to claim we know better considering he's the doctor. Called someone else to ask for advice and ultimately decide to leave and go to an ER downtown. The nurse didn't seem surprised when we asked for paperwork to leave AMA. I'm guessing it's not an unusual occurrence. Waited forever downtown but everyone was nice, pleasant, and seemed to know what they were doing. None of the tests the original doctor at Thorek wanted to do were done or mentioned by any of the doctors we saw at the second hospital, so we weren't the crazy ones in the first interaction. Moral of the story, trust your instincts and avoid Thorek if you can.

DO NOT COME HERE! NOT WORTH IT! Came to the ER after injuring myself playing softball. Was mostly ignored, was not given the proper tests, told my injury was a sprain or meniscus tear after an X-ray (which can't diagnose either of those things) and that there was no way it was anything worse than that. Felt that my pain was minimized and dismissed, had no ice or elevation provided (basic first aid even if it was just a sprain) and was sent home with a dead phone after asking if there was any way to charge my phone, an ill fitting brace, and crutches that were not the right size. Weeks later, when I was finally able to see a specialist, they were appalled that a simple test to check the ACL had not been performed (standard procedure), as my ACL was very clearly ruptured. Being put into an ill fitting brace delayed my healing, and mostly likely caused further damage. I was improperly instructed how to care for my knee, and as a result have had a longer recovery. I felt like the staff couldn't have cared less for me or the other people in the ER, and the space felt poorly maintained and not very clean. There were obviously sick patients without masks on, I was given care in what appeared to be an office space rather than a private/clean space or medically equipped room, my instructions were to contact a specialist at Thorek who has terrible reviews online, I cannot say it enough DO NOT GO.

This is one of the worst hospitals I have ever worked with. I had X-rays taken on 11/11/2021, and I have not heard back from my doctor in a week and a half. I have called in every day for the past week trying to get an update and their customer service department just keeps transferring the call and no one will answer my questions. They are rude and barely can speak/understand English when on the phone. I have a possible broken knee cap and no one has contacted me in nearly 2 weeks. No sense of urgency, or follow through on the hospitals side of things. I called the Radiology department to get my results and they said that they didn't have the fax number for my doctor which is why they haven't sent over the results. Funny thing is the doctor is literally in the same building as them and only a few doors down. I can't believe that they don't have the fax information for the people that literally work in the same building as them. If anyone looking to get something serious looked at, NEVER go here because they are completely disorganized and have no communication between departments. I really hope people read this because this place is HORRIFIC! If you have something life threatening I would hope they give you better care than they have given me with a possible broken bone, because if not you would run the risk of dying!

Conducted an interview with Oahn Tran whom is the HR director. The first interview went fairly well. The second interview was with the Chief Nursing Officer. I informed her that I have been out of the field for some time due to the fact that I was taking care of my father. She said that was very noble of you. I told her that I was interested in a 8 hour shift because I didn't want to overwhelm myself getting back into the field. I have over 10 years of experience with a masters degree. She told me that she would give me the position but only pay me 20 dollars an hour. Mind you I have a MASTERS DEGREE!!!!! With 10 years of experience!!!! I asked her could she go up to 30 which is generous of me coming from a place I was making 40 an hour. She offered me 20 dollars an hour when people at gas stations are making more than that with no form of education! Truly think that upper management are racist. All upper management are Asians. I would have rather they not offer me the second interview, if they were going to insult me with such a low rate. I truly believe they are doing something illegal at this hospital. Beware! And think twice before working for such an institution!

I am a migrant from another country, my family and I temporarily ended up in a shelter, and it so happened that I got sick, had a fever for 4 days and had severe pain in the right side of my abdomen, I had to call an ambulance, and they brought me to this hospital. This is a terrible staff, I really regretted that I came to them, I thought that I would die in the lobby without waiting for the doctors, then I thought that such a terrible attitude towards me because I am a migrant, I’m also Asian, but after reading the comments I realized what kind of attitude they have them to all. Of course, I’m not talking about all the staff; there are probably magical doctors. The thing that surprised me the most was when the doctor said before discharge: - (you have problems with the liver, you need to drink less alcohol!...) And this was said by a doctor with great experience, he didn’t even ask if I take alcohol, although I’m not a drinker and This is just one of many points that I would list but it’s not worth it. In general, today I’m lying down, my stomach is tingling. I hope it goes away on its own. Thanks for everything, it still helped.

I will admit this was my first time ever going to a hospital / emergency in my 29 years… so I don’t know what I’m supposed to expect but I did not feel cared for. Long story short ….. I saw 6 different doctors , never at the same time. All within 2 hours - and when in crying pain not ideal to have to talk over and over . They all asked me the same questions…. They only talked to me for 2 minutes each. The main issue was the lack of communication. It took 26 hours from the last time I saw a doctor for a doctor to see me again and give me any answers. I kept asking and asking nurses updates and they never had answers. I don’t think it was the nurses fault - they are kinda the middleman. Doctors and overall management I’m sure. The only reason I give 2 stars and not 1, is the facility it was actually very neat and clean ! (Also none of the nurses had stethoscopes with them? They never checked my vitals?) and toooooo top it all off - when it was time for me to be discharged I asked if I should be informing my PCP they said yes and handed me the big folder for me to give my PCP. Wouldn’t they ask for his info and fax over?

Recently visited the ER at Thorek. There was no wait, and it was midday. Every single exchange was preposterously crude. The man tending the waiting room was wearing his mask on his chin, barely greeted us and told us to wait for a triage nurse. We waited 20 minutes. He did nothing to assist anyone to do anything, and even fell asleep standing up. Nobody was at the front desk, and when they did arrive, they were very loud, frustrated, and complaining about understaffing to anyone who would listen. Not a good look, but I understand their frustration. A handcuffed convict and two guards entered and went in to a run to be treated. I'm sure they had an appointment, but it was weird, and frustrating since the room was filling up with several other patients. Finally I heard the triage nurse say that no doctors were on staff and that they were calling some in. Only two nurses available in the entire place. I still hadn't even been checked in, so I left. I was there for an hour. It was beyond awful and impossibly unprofessional. The powers that be need to pay attention and help the actual on site staff out!! Yikes.

Be careful letting your older mothers and fathers in here. I’ve had to come here often due to medical reasons and every time I see them treat the elderly terrible, laughing at them, blasting music in the nurses station, being ungodly rude, telling people they need to hurry up (while having a obvious dementia episode) because they want to watch football? Laughing. Saying “I don’t need this job”. Sitting in the wheel chairs and just making fun of anyone walking past. I will say the doctors are pretty nice and kind and such. But the nurses are trashy and disrespectful. Everyone is just horribly rude and could care less if you actually live or not. I’ve even witnessed the ambulance coming in and the EMTS just casually sitting on their phones giggling at patients making remarks about a suicidal case that (funny how he was so active when in the ambulance and now he’s a bit more calm huh). I’m extremely baffled. I’ll spend the time to just go to northwestern where yeah they maybe are a little rude but still professional and able to give you the good treatment you deserve.

My wife and I brought our daughter to the ER on 850 W Erie last night. I wanted to bring to your attention the terrible conditions we experienced in your rooms. The first room the nurse put us in I noticed there was blood on the floor. She switched us to another room where I found 3 used viles of blood placed inside the center of a roll of toilet paper that was on the sink. This is the first and last time we will go to your facility. After sharing the story this morning with my coworkers many of them had similar stories. I had always assumed that any hospital would at the bare minimum keep the facility clean. The lack of pride taken in your facility is shameful. I really hope this message gets passed to someone who has the ability to make changes and actually does something. This is the message I wrote to the hospital after our visit last night. If you're thinking about going to this hospital and you have other choices PLEASE reconsider. This hospital is a cesspool. My only regret is that we didn't immediately leave.

The night before I went into my surgery I read all the comments about this hospital and I arrived super nervous for surgery. From the moment I walked in to when they prepared me for surgery, all the nurses and doctors treated me very well. Despite the fact that they saw me crying from nerves, they were understanding with me, they transmitted calm and good energy to me. My surgery with Dr Andres Giovanetti at this hospital and everything was amazing. the doctor is super attentive and takes care of his patients! When you are going to have surgery, it is important to feel confident in your doctor, and Dr. Andres always gave me security and peace of mind. I recommend him 100%. Sometimes we only focus on writing the bad experiences and we don't make a good comment when everything is going well, and I have to say that this time everything was amazing. Thanks to Dr Andres Giovanneti and his group of doctors and all the nurses who took good care of me before and after surgery.

Stuck in the waiting room of the ER for 5 hours, starting at 4:30 on a Thursday. Security let 12 staff come in without masks, some walking around the wait area and having conversations with security. Other people in the room near me had their masks below their nose for a majority of the time. I talked to the security guard about it, he said that the people without masks are medical professionals and are fine, completely ignoring the people sitting next to me. No regards for my or others safety. I was out of the hospital in an hour after being seen by a doctor. At least that part was decent. Would not recommend this experience to anyone who needs actual urgent care. Update: My covid and flu test results were supposed to be delivered to me yesterday. I was on the phone for 20 minutes before I finally got someone who could help me today. They 'can not find' my flu results and said there was nothing they could do. Don't even go here for small things apparently

This disgusting hospital I should have walked bad out it was so many OSHA violations on Memorial Day I had the unfortunate pleasure of rushing my son here emergent for ruptured appendix upon arrival there was 2 waiting and a homeless man who took up most of the small areas chairs with various items where my son in agonizing pain could only use one chair so I had to give him the only other available chair while I stood with a torn meniscus bad knee in The window seal was a urine specimen left .the security guard gave the homeless guy a urnial not offer the bathroom couple steps away but a urnal which he used rt at the chair after maybe 10 mins or more the guard put a glove on and grabbed the urnial n the specimen cup left near our seat also the floor try with the leftover food that was on the floor I have been in healthcare 20 yrs and never witnessed such dirty unethical taste accounts

  • Raheema Al'Jahoni

They do what is called systematic racism…. If you have any insurance namely private insurance outside of the state or county insurance they will GLADLY SEE YOU and expedite your visit!! If you have the regular Medicare your S-O-O-L I went in because I had just gotten over the first stages of the flu and although my cough was gone I still had a slight cough that caused my lung to press against my ribs making it had for me to breathe. When she was checking me in she said “Yeah I’ll get you in to see someone, Are you still with Humana Insurance”? Me-No, I have Medicare Okay have a seat it’s three people ahead of you with a THREE TO FOUR HOUR WAIT!! The people who came in with their own insurance were seen and the rest of us were left in the lobby in pain to wait the 3 hours!!! I’m going to report them to ANY ANF EVERYONE!! That treatment was completely BARBARIC

  • Fruzsina Eördögh

I have been going to this hospital for my doctor's appointments for a few years now. Sometimes I have to wait despite being early, sometimes the paperwork is late. Insurance likes to deny me expensive medicine but they work around that as best they can and are transparent about it. (I appreciate them sharing my anger and frustrations about it!)The paintings on the walls in the waiting rooms and hallways are beautiful and relaxing. I love taking pictures of them. The surgery staff is wonderful, A++. Other staff seem overworked and tired but polite. My partner had to visit the ER for a broken nose and busted knee a few years ago, before COVID exhausted most medical professionals, and he only had to wait a short time. Less staff than years ago but I think this is happening in most hospitals everywhere.

I think most hospitals should have good reviews! maybe name of the hospital terrifies most people, especially with so much agonizing time with the Coronavirus. From some little experience here, it seems that there are good but not recognized people until you meet them. But some got used to their work not with much emotion. I understand. You cannot please everyone. In my general theory, all hospitals should behave an active and beneficial manner to humanity because it takes into consideration the treatment of the human first of all and then the patient. At the first level, this is the foundation of the hospital. I want to thank Lee & Emily for their teamwork with a smile even if I have little health concerns. Something else I liked here, Many pretty art wall!.

  • Camilo

I am still in the hospital. I have NEVER left a review on google, but this is ridiculous. I was severely dehydrated, just came out of surgery, and asked about six people to help me make the air conditioning colder in my room. They totally blew me off. ER doctors and team were fantastic, and the surgeon was top notch. But it’s impossible to sleep in this heat, and to be drenched in your own sweat due to negligence is completely unacceptable. I’m hoping the customer satisfaction person who gave me a huge pep talk sees this and addresses it. And a big thanks to the engineer who finally helped me out. It took about 20 rings for the operator to answer, and multiple transfers and complaints until they finally complied. It’s a shame such great doctors are wasted here.

My Son and I were patients for over 13 years until my Dr's new receptionist decided she didn't like us and made our lives a living hell. The Manager refused to return my calls and never did anything about the situation. This receptionist made sure she put everyone who works there against us and our Dr told us to look for another Dr and get the hell out of his office and the Hospital. This hospital and the staff are horrible and the Dr's only care about money and not the patient's health. The Managers are a joke and they protect each other's back. They talk about the patients and make fun of them to the point where we could hear them and no one cares or does anything about these incompetent workers...I would not recommend this Hospital or their Dr's to anyone.

  • Kayla Barnet

The doctors and nurses were all really nice and helpful, but every person I talked to at reception was horrible. They were unnecessarily rude and acted like doing something as simple as making a follow-up appointment was a total hassle. They either flat out ignored me when I approached the desk, or immediately started the conversation with eye rolls and attitude. I went up and would just say, “Hi,” and the response would be “..Hi..?” I’m not someone who just terrorizes costumer service people, because I also work in that industry, but they really lack basic human decency. I have a follow-up appointment for several weeks from now, and I’m already dreading having to encounter the people at reception again due to how unfriendly and rude they were.

  • Mona Mona

Thanks to the emergency rooms for efort to finde my health problems. But a big difference in a treat a patient with insurance and no insurance expecialy from Dr Greenspan (I was telling I am not feeling well and he said I DON'T HAVE NOTHING TO DO, YOU WILL HEAL AT HOME) after 2days of my surgery send me home (diabetic) no antibiotics just medicine for pain and after 4 days from discharge I was almost to death. I was in need to go to another 2 hospitals I had another 2 surgery to try to be a half normal person, all my life was messed up because NO HEALTH INSURANCE and the way wich some Dr they understand to trow people in the streets still sick, with no compassion I think it's time for me to finde a good lawyer Monica Cimpulungeanu

  • Fra Mon

I cant possibly justify the bad reviews about this hospital. I went there to the emergency room after a rear end collision. My experience was superb and comparable to Highland Park hospital. Friendly staffs all around from the Security Desk to the Greeter admission personnel to the ER Nurse Karen to Doctor Ranhawa to the X Ray technician. All professionals, friendly courteous, great timing, the entire process was just under 1 hour. I was even given a snack because I should not take the pain med on an empty stomach. I would recommend this hospital to anyone it may very be another well kept secret of Chicago. A great alternative to other more crowded popular hospital around town. My experience was pleasant and genuinely sincere.

  • Gabriela Sanchez

They have such a horrible service now and it seems like I'm not the only one that thinks that. We are scared for my grandma to be in this hospital. No one can stay with her due to covid new rules. The nurses are rude when you call for updates and last time we called that her IV was dripping blood no one went to check until almost an hour she was bleeding that whole time. When she returned home she had such a horrible bruise. When the manager asked how was the service she said she lied being treated well because she was scared they would treat her worse if she complained. Administration needs to do something about this horrible service because we can't even change her of hospital because her specialist works here.

  • Johnny Malmsteems

The absolute worst ER experience…avoid this place at all costs. The older Indian ER doctor should not be practicing. He is very rude, unprofessional, you can’t understand a word he says and he has no idea what he’s doing. He told me I had a fractured clavicle after an X-ray which turned out not to be true. I had another X-ray and MRI at N.W. hospital the next day and it turned out to be a slipped neck disc. He also kept saying over and over that he couldn’t give me narcotics as if that’s why I was there. I never asked for them in the first place…I was there for an X-ray. This place is a complete joke and waste of time. I spent 6 hours in the ER when and there was only one person in front of me.

  • Caree Amtsberg

Hands down worst hospital experience ever. Horrible communication in reception and resource department; poor and lazy attitudes- charge nurse in ER Ana; the MD in the ER tonight was dismissive, when asked to speak to supervisor they kept asking me why then wouldn't transfer call. my loved one in the ER wait room heard them overtly calling me crazy because they did not want to take responsibility for own behavior, they lied multiple times about calling LSS because they dropped the ball then told me patients have to "push" for their own after care resources. My loved one waited 8 hours in ER to top it off. Hands down the worst treatment, fast food and DMV employees have better customer service.

  • Will Kent

Litterally saw a doctor (dr Andrews?) walking around a waiting room with his mask around his neck during this pandemic. If he can’t take the protection of others in a waiting room seriously, how does he do with patients he’s actually serving. Seen and heard my doctor getting in yelling matches on the phone with patients. They move so slow here to. Be assured you’ll be at-least an hour past your set appointment time before you’re seen. They also don’t observe social distancing in the waiting room, chairs are only at max 3 feet apart and the room is stocked with as many chairs as they can (and filled with people). I feel safer about covid in a restaurant than I do in this hospital.

  • Amanda M

If I could give this place a zero, I would! Stay FAR away!! Their staff from Aides all the way up to administration is beyond rude!! You can forget about receiving calls back from anyone pertaining to how your family member is doing and definitely do NOT expect calls pertaining to their case and where they may be getting transferred to after their hospital stay. Social workers never call to introduce themselves, never follow up on how the case is going and most importantly Case Manager Jamie Miller is very unprofessional- never returns calls and feels the need to yell at family members then when you start voicing your opinion she hangs up on u.. An absolute SH*THOLE!!!!!!

  • Imani A

I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone. They don’t have a good online system that should link all the departments together. This hospital will expect you to bring a physical copy of a work/lab order from your doctor for an appointment that’s a month out. They don’t have anything that stores it in their system. Medical records wasn’t any help. They refuse to send my last lab work through email, and only said they can print it out. Oh, and it’s $1 /page. Leave this hospital alone….take your insurance to better health network systems like Advocate or Northwestern. This place will scam you out of not only money, but time as well. I will never attend this hospital again.

  • Whoever Whoever

Really, take other people’s advice. Don’t come here if you need ER service. We came at 5:30. 30 minutes later, we were still waiting now, not for a nurse or a doctor, but for a receptionist to take our registration. Another 10 minutes later, a total of 40 minutes, she finally showed up to take our registration. Then after that, she told us take a seat and someone would be with us. As expected, another round of waiting for a full one hour. They seriously don’t know what ER stands for. By the way, there were no people waiting. My wife and I were the only people waiting in the lobby. The guard said there were only two nurses and one doctor in the night shift.

  • D.K. Prince

I've been there twice and both times the doctors were completely unprofessional. The first doctor insulted me to my face for being poor and for being on County Care. The second was constantly giggling over my condition (I had a hole in my Colon) and kept shouting over me whenever I tried to answer a question. Then literally pouted/stormed out when I asked her if she wants an answer or not. The medical benefits department deliberately tried to sign me up for Medicare (I'm nowhere near 65) in order to delay my signing up for any other kinds of coverage. This caused me to go over 5 1/2 GRAND IN DEBT!!! You're taking your life in your hands at Thorek!

  • Emma Stokes

The utter level of incompetency and blatant negligence is astounding. Relative receiving treatment for collapsed lung has been mistreated time and again, ignored and outright forgotten. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT COME HERE. It's not worth it, you're better off anywhere else (other than Weiss, DO NOT GO THERE EITHER). I don't know how they have two terrible hospitals in such close proximity. Also, another friend went here for treatment years ago for a collapsed lung, and she was dismissed and made to think she just had anxiety. The staff at every level here is disgraceful and should be fired. I'll say again, don't come here unless you want to die!

  • SennGames

How can I describe this place ? Let’s say Jackson park hospital and loretto hospital had a drunken one night stand. This would be the result of that poor decision. the er staff is extremely ignorant. The people registering someone was extremely rude and yelled at a lady saying “I’m the only person here to put the people in the system. I’ll get to you when I get to you.” The doctor offices, if you can call them that are extremely small. The staff move slower than malasis. 10/10 would not bring family, friends, or pets to this place. Sadly this is the only option the surrounding community might have to visit a “hospital”

  • Thoughts by Kalem

If I could give them zero stars because how unprofessional they are here I would. Went to primary care and the receptionist was rude, she told me I could have a seat when I didn't let her know why I was there and when i cam back to tell her I had a appointment me she responded with "I know." Secondly, I overheard the doctor and receptionist saying that "I don't know why he keeps coming here." I understand that my insurance didn't transfer properly, but that could have simply been solved by saying they just need me to call them to get it resolved. No need be disrespectful when nobody is disrespecting you.

  • Oren Barnett

Went in on Thursday night and wasn’t seen until 4 am on Friday. Stayed there for three days and was told I was to stay there for a minimum of three more but I left due to medical neglect and homophobia. Was told I needed stitches that I never received. Wasn’t even given a wash cloth to clean the blood off me until I got home. Informed staff that I kept kosher and didn’t get a single kosher meal. A doctor asked my pronouns and laughed at me when I answered. I asked a nurse for ibuprofen for pain and she laughed at me too. I’d say not to go here unless you were dying but I was dying and was ignored.

  • jsr

If you have something go wrong in any capacity and it is related to your body mind or soul. Go find a RUSH A NORTHWESTERN. The “dr” are all family doctors doing sometimes serious big boy thing with no big boy skills or knowledge. A female doctor. DOCTOR WAS HNABKE TO REMOVE LOOSE STICHES (4) at ease. Then blamed two separate pairs of kits. She also fyi can not be bothered to look up her own knowledge she just said I’ll ask someone.z” I was thinking well your lacerestion artifact for the next yeah running out of people for that yet I’m waiting yan hour and half before swing

  • Susan Grace

I was referred to Dr Barsky in dermatology for a a few bumps growing on the top of my foot. I waited 45 minutes in the lobby. I had to cancel and reschedule because of the wait. Eventually, He did a punch biopsy to diagnose and “make sure it’s not cancerous” Almost 3 weeks later (after calling multiple times for the diagnosis) I received a rather angry call from his personal cell phone. He then asked me to send you pictures of my foot I did and I never received a response for treatment. Thorek and its doctors are absolute garbage. Especially dr Barsky

  • Danielle Pierre

My experience here was really traumatic. I didn’t get any care for hours and hours while doubled over in pain (which I later found out was sepsis). The nurses treated me with so much suspicion and coldness and put weird, untrue and unrelated things in my chart. After about 20 hours, I asked to be discharged AMA because I had had enough. Afterwards, I received an exorbitant bill from a fraudulent collections agency, leading me to think the hospital has a security breech. I’m still unsure of how much of my personal information was compromised.

If I could give a zero I would. Spent 7 hours in ER waiting for a nurse or Doctor to update on my Son-in-law after he had a seizure. Absolute joke of a facility. Front desk greeter was being used to collect information for the ER doc. Receptionist was rude No nurse or Doctor updated on what was going on. Seems like everyone is hiding and afraid to talk to family members. Absolute joke of a medical facility. 7 hours waiting and no nurse, no doctor gave us an update. Receptionist was used to deliver information. You have to be kidding me.

This is the worst care I’ve had yet. Not only did it take 4 separate phone calls to get a “convenient” line to make an appointment (30 min later), I’m still waiting in the waiting room for an appointment that was for 4pm (it’s 4:45) and their excuse was “there’s always a long wait” and “there’s only two rooms” simply put, don’t schedule that many people then… and validate your patients when you’ve made them wait because of your services. No doctors office I’ve ever been to has been more irritating than suite 301 outpatient services.

  • calofe calofe

They don’t care at all about patients, they just care about money. I had labs and exams done and never received any results or communication regarding a condition I have. Having those results on time would’ve help me a lot. I had to go in person because when I called the rude stuff didn’t want to help me. They also charged me $11 dólares to print my labs results. It is my right to know what is happening with my health and don’t have to pay additional for it. Enough what my insurance paid for those labs test. Unfair.

  • Ivan Salazar

Was there waiting for two hours and couldn't see the psychiatrist even though I had made an appointment with three months in advance; the nurse simply said 2 hours was not much and that most patients wait for four hours before being able to see the doctor, staff was rude and ultimately I decided to leave. She also said the reason for the wait was because the doctor was overbooked, this is disrespectful, why wasn't I informed of this when I made the appointment? Who knows, Do NOT waste your time.

READ THE REVIEWS. All the negative reviews are real. How are they still even open! Department of health needs to shut them down. Will be filing numerous complaints with the department of health and other departments. Was waiting in the emergency room for 2 hours or so. A lady walked in hours later with the almost the same condition and they took her in after 5 mins. Literally got in into an argument and had the supervisor take me in to be treated. This is no way to treat Ill patients.

  • Laura Calderon

If I could give Zero stars I would cause this is a HORRIBLE hospital the E.r room is empty all the time I was there and after almost 3 hours of waiting I left to another hospital because they don't know how to do they work. Idk how the E.r is empty and yet nobody came out to see me. I didn't see the reviews before I came but next time I'll definitely make sure I do. I added some pictures as well so people can see how empty it is and small and yet they still are horrible hospital

  • Gedi J

If you have to come here, you should change your insurance ASAP. Terrible terrible service. Waste of time. Came back for a follow up 6 weeks later and didn’t even see Dr. Goldflies, one of his students instructed me to go on YouTube to get some help with my arm nerve pain. This now the standard of healthcare in the US, go on YouTube!? They keep kicking the can down the road and make you feel like you’re reliving Groundhog Day. Totally useless sham of a hospital.

  • Bryan Rust

The physicians at the hospital are very friendly courteous and professional. I have only good things to say about Dr. Barsky and Dr. Hunniford. Other employees of the hospital hit or miss. My advice to fellow millennial trying to navigate the health care system: make sure you got your referrals (from a primary care physician) and authorizations (from insurance, for procedures) in order. It's sometimes hard to get office staff to explain these things to you.

  • It's my turn

Thorek has a terrible reputation that they live up to unfortunately. Dr. Huntingford doesn't like to write out referrals for specialist. They have been chased down for 3 weeks now about a referral in addition to constant calls made about it. It still hasn't been taken care. I do understand that they have many people to deal with daily, but they get paid well to service people. Customers get tired of paying high medical premiums and can't get adequate care.

  • Prince Brian

I went here for a colonoscopy and thought it was a decent experience. The only problem I encountered was that they handed me an orange juice after the procedure and I dropped it. Sorry but it is probably not a good idea to give someone a cup of liquid while they are still waking up from being drugged. The nurse sort of made me feel bad that I dropped it. Still, I have to say I was pleased with the overall experience for an outpatient procedure.

  • Foire Samme

I had a terrible experience at Thorek Memorial Hospital. The staff was unfriendly and unprofessional, and the facilities were outdated and unclean. During my stay, I witnessed several instances of miscommunication and neglect, which led to delays and errors in my treatment. The doctors seemed uninterested in my concerns and dismissed my questions. Overall, I would not recommend Thorek Memorial Hospital to anyone seeking quality medical care.

  • marcela martinez

This hospital is the worst hospital my brother Victor Martinez has been in. Right now he is here and he is being totally neglected. Today I am trying to transfer him to Northwestern hospital. They careless about patients like my brother. Victor is quadruplegic cannot move nor speak and I believe that's why they just careless. I will file a complaint with department of health. Since I have pictures and videos of what they are doing to him.

  • Ellie Diaz

Okay, I just left the ER. I came in stating I had a staph infection and it took an hour to get in. They put me in a hallway with a curtain with no privacy and the nurse asks me if I’m there for a sore throat. The doctor asked if I was there for a fever. I was blown away. They take me to a room and there are stains on the bed and hair and bandaid wrappers on the floor. I left AMA and got myself to a hospital where I feel safe.

  • J Prince

Very disappointed. It took 1 min. of entering their ED before realizing what poor service this system offers. Left and went elsewhere. Waiting room smelled of urine. Proper protocols for emergencies weren't in place. They should be investigated and shut down before a life is lost to malpractice. Interesting how many people said to never go here. They were right. Stay away from this place. Go somewhere else.

  • Monique Monica

Very disrespectful front desk people. Had me waiting almost half an hour for the emergency room. The lady at the pharmacy (the black one) was very disrespectful & rude to this hispanic lady. I don’t know why the front desk people have rude attitude but it needs to be checked. The nurse was very sweet, SV, yeah liked her. Also, I had to wait an hour at the pharmacy to get medication??? Horrible

  • Patrick Swayzy

There is a green eyed black girl who took care of me in the er then the next day I saw her on the 6 floor working. She was sweet and accommodating! She is a nurse but I forgot her name. She made me feel more comfortable with the situation I had If you do see this, you are such a beautiful soul. Thank you from Patrick Cons the hospital is understaffed and not as clean as it should be.

  • Edward Rios

I wanted to review the Thorek Cafe in the lower level of the hospital. The cafeteria is amazing! I honestly would just come here for the breakfast. The food is amazing, the coffee is strong, and the prices are just right. Sonya made me the best bagel sandwich! Thank you to the unsung heroes in the cafe! You guys are the bomb! And great customer service, you guys deserve a raise :)

  • Qiao Ting Liang

I hate coming here. My mom had an appointment at 9:30am for an ultrasound. We ended up waited for one hour. Tried to ask help from registration front dest during the wait. No luck, too busy to care, and was told to go to radiology apartment to knock on their door, instead of helping me to figure out why it took longer than usual. Thanks for the awesome service you gave me.

  • Connie Abels

The hospital was filthy and disgusting, especially the entry and waiting area and elevator. The first room I was brought into on the 4th fl had a bathroom that had not been cleaned, and there was a pill underneath the bed so that room had not been cleaned at all. I am not a germophobe, however, I expect a hospital to be clean at all times. Absolutely disgusting!

  • Bryan Garcia

I went to emergency room first the took me 20 so the can take care of me there was nobody in the building no one in the emergency rooms and they still took 3 hours to see me and I only had a broken finger you can be dying in this hospital and they still won't take the worst hospital I ever see it's just not fair how they treat you they should close this hospital

  • Mia Green

I don't share the same experience as the other reviewers. I had to go in last week for surgery and was pleasantly surprised to find my experience to be far from negative. My team was great! Thanks again to Tim, June and Mark! You guys are the best! Don't be fearful if you are sent here. I highly recommend Thorek hospital. Staff was kind and professional as well!

  • Jessi Martinez

If I could give this hospital 0 stars I would. The night shift is the worst! Have no compassion what so ever. The very own security was making fun of my dad mocking him and laughing at his pain. Very unprofessional! Had to wait over an hour just to get a room for my dad who was in critical condition just to wait some more when they finally had a room for him!

  • Robert Rogers

I had a laceration on my hand from glass. Not only did it take near 2 hours to get seen while still bleeding through multiple layers of towel. Once k was finally seen. The person who did my stitches not only used the wrong stich but didn't go deep enough. It's been 2 months and the scar still bleeds. I wouldn't recommend going to this hospital for anything

  • Maria Cruz

Chichi was my nurse on 6th floor and helped me with my medical stay and even tho she was so busy with her other patients she stopped in to change me and help my needs . I’m a big lady so turning is hard but she went above and beyond to make me comfortable. I heard she’s one of the best there. She’s a gem. To anyone that says otherwise they are idiots.

  • Nat Lutz

I brought my friend here when she was sick and it was a horrible experience. We waited 45 minutes in the waiting room throwing up. And then she had to wait another 45 minutes for the doctor to show up all by herself— passing out and throwing up — for him to finally give her the IV we knew she needed the whole time. Don’t come here if it’s urgent.

  • Sarah Stokes

Had me wait for hours. I had to remind the nurse I needed a throat swab for strep she told me the dr canceled it I asked her why she told me she didn’t know with an attitude. I felt so uncomfortable. I just walked out and went to another emergency room. They literally did nothing for me. Worst er ever don’t even bother to waste your time going

  • Sarah Bartlett

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This ER is terrible. Would give 0 stars if I could. The lack of compassion is disgusting. Hospital workers laughing at our ill family member as they laid on the waiting room floor alone before we could get there. Left him laying there to laugh with no triage or vitals until we called and complained to check on him.

  • hatai5025

Went rto ER for severe pain and could not change position. After 8 hourrs waitinfg in ER. Got EScript from the doctor. Pharmacy did not have that medication and tried to get new order from doctor. That doctor is not there today. Nobody can get the order . I’m still in pain with nomedication. Can you refund my money I spent in ER.

  • Octavia Martin

Worst ER experience of my life.. You will get better and more efficient treatment from a middle school nurse . I have been currently waiting almost 5 hours and still counting. People have arrived after me and received treatment before me. Live your best life and get treated elsewhere... Or go here and DIE . NO STARS

  • Brent Holman-Gomez

Meds not delivered on timely schedule, secretive staff that don't communicate changes to condition even to power of attorney, just a couple of the non-patient-centered experiences of long stay there. Now patient is on hospice and nursing home level of care and communication is multiple times better! And timely!

  • Pramod Gaikwad

Given a chance I would give zero stars. I went to ER at 2AM wherein there were no patients and after waiting half an hr with my 20 month old I left the place, no one cares at all. If they can't handle they should not have an ER, for people to live in an illusion that there is a Hospital to rely on.

  • Angel Goti

The ER has been one of the worst experience. Anybody to take at leats the vitals to patientes waiting for 5 hours at the waiting room. The registration lady didn't care and nobody responded. Terrible treatment to patients. They have to improve the quality of service. I will contact the BBB.

  • Taotao JI

This hospital is horrible. When I checked in the receptionist didn’t even look at me. Because I am Asian? And when they called the patient, they called this one and that one. Really really rude. They won’t listen to me and inject a large tube of steroids into my body. So horrible.

  • Amy Nicole

I loved how quickly and nice the lady at the counter attended me and my boyfriend. He came to get an EKG and everything was fast and the people were so nice. I am a new nurse so just walking into a pretty lobby and being greeted by everyone kindly makes me want to work here.

  • Dīs Pater

Did not even bother to clean a shin gash and decided to charge for an 10 hour stay(10PM-8AM) when on my Google Maps it said we got there around 2:45AM and left around 6 AM. Overall a very scummy and poorly run "hospital" only looking to scam its patients.

  • Cynthia Nicole

I’m not sure about the emergency room and these negative comments but I went in for a spinal tap and the experience was amazing. The doctor was so helpful and explained everything throughout the whole process. Dr.hunniford is a great physician as well!

  • Jennifer Wu

Great doctors, nurses and hospital staffs. Free Parking also across the street. Famous painting and Holliday decorations will light you up. Over time upgrade the hospital face entrance. Near to the lake view neighborhood. I'd recommend this hospital.

  • Kirstin Mulvaney

  • Tatianna Ibarra

The staff look and act like they're higher than a kite and while we were one of literally 3 people in the waiting room, it took 3 and a half hours to see us. In the ER, there are a small amount of patients and we have not been seen yet. I

Would give a 0 if i could!!! Went by ambulance, paramedics were rude and careless. This hospital is the worst i have ever been to. Everyone had an attitude and was rude, everyone seemed like they didn't know what the heck they were doing.

A disgrace for a health organization. You come in for basic checkup in good health only to leave sick with the amount of stress provided by the support team who lack minimum customer service skills. The lady behind the desk in room 102 is

The providers were good, but the billing department isn't cooperating with me. None of my bill is going through my insurance. There's a chance you will pay your medical bills out-of-pocket, so, given the option, get care elsewhere.

  • Sharon Shimizu

Zero Stars. Got called in the morning to move my 2:30 apt up to 12:30. Seen after 2pm. Response was "Do u want to reschedule?" NO, lady, I've been waiting close to 2 hrs. What I want is you to schedule intelligently.

I was so nervous for my procedure but as soon I arrived with the GI team I knew I was in good hands. Everyone was amazing especially Olivia and Princess. I’m so thankful for the whole team, you guys are awesome!

Chi chi on the 6th floor is rude and did not want to help my dad use the bathroom 0 out of 0 stars someone should show her better customer service. I hope someone treats her mom or dad like she did mine.

  • Patrick Smart

Went to the Emergency room and was placed in a Urine soaked bed. Had to wear paper clothes for 5 hours reeking of urine. Thorek did nothing to help. Medical care was adequate but would never go back.

The Hospital in Gen-rel, Seems to have trouble giving straight answers to straight questions...Prepare for getting run a rounds, allow them to do so, with standing great patience on your part.

  • Sheilah Bowden

Its clean, professional and easy to reach. I got too the clinic quite often and have gone thru 3 primary drs already. My recoveries were peaceful and the staff was attentive but not hovering.

I had physical therapy at this location and my therapist, Jette, was super helpful, friendly and easy going. I’m glad to say I looked forward to attending my sessions for this reason.

Daisy at Registration provided excellent customer service. Staff got both my daughter and I registered in an efficient manner. Great attitude and answered all our questions!

WORST HOSPITAL IN CHICAGO to make Dr. Appointment. For half hour of more no one answers. Email for appointment, NO REPLY at all. I suggest choose Dr from other hospital.

My service was good and the hospital was clean. I had a great staff. My complaint is. I had surgery under local anesthesia to remove a screw from my foot from a past

Dr Hannaford was very detailed and explained diagnosis simply and professionally _ _ took time to explain. Staff very cooperative throughout the medical appointment.

  • Camille McCormick

Went to the er for xrays, it took well over 2 hours and I was the only patient there. Absolutely no sense of urgency and the place is a mess

  • Dee Heuer

My mother used to work here in 70's-90's. I'd hang out here with her in the mornings before going to school my freshman year.
