I’ve heard a lot of great things about this place and was excited to give it a chance. But I’m not sure if i’ll come back due to the lack of efficiency of service and lack of clear information about available dishes before sitting down. We came on Saturday evening around 10 pm, got sat down 30 minutes later. Regrettably, there wasn't enough staff available to clear the tables, which lead to higher wait times. Also, be careful about them skipping your name on the waitlist. That almost happened to us, but thankfully we tracked down the waiter before they sat down another party. If we were waiting outside, we definitely would have been quietly crossed off the waitlist :/ We had to flag down a waiter twice to place our order and waited an additional 10-15 minutes just for water. To our disappointment, when we finally ordered, they informed us that mango, sticky rice, and tofu were unavailable for the dishes we wanted. It would have been nice to know this before adding our names to the waitlist or before going through the menu. Ultimately, we settled for the Thai mixed jelly balls dessert, which was not bad. However, the one-hour wait and the overall inefficiency of the establishment make me hesitant to come back. If they can address these issues, I'd consider giving this place another chance.

Tina Cake Desserts is a Vietnamese Dessert shop on Kingsway, between Slocan St. and Duchess St. It looks like this place was a Japanese restaurant at one time as there's one room at the back that seems to have been built in the style of a Japanese Tatami Room. I'm not sure how long Tina Cake Desserts has been around. It feels like years as we've driven past it and seen it on Google Maps hundreds of times. After passing by it so many times, we finally made our way into this shop recently and now I can't wait to go back there again! They've got pages and pages of desserts to choose from; there are simple choices for less adventurous people and more exotic choices for more adventurous people. Our daughter is rarely ever in an adventurous mood, so she had a bowl of bubble gum ice cream for her dessert. My husband and I shared an Almond Panna Cotta Lychee Dessert with Caramel Flan. It was awesome! Shorly after walking in, there's an area where you can see the wide variety of dessert toppings they have. I love seeing the huge variety of toppings that they have. As much as I loved eating my dessert, just being there and seeing all the cool toppings they have is a treat for me already! This place is an absolute gem and I definitely recommend coming here! My favorite place for Vietnamese late night dessert with friends and family. - Food: variety of options including dinner menu and dessert menu. Highly recommend the Mixed Coconut dessert, House Special Dessert (Che Dac Biet), Salted egg sponge cake, Mango sticky rice or Durian crepe. - Service: management and training staffs should be improved even though I understand they are very busy at night. Dessert served sometimes without ice or take long time to ask for extra bowls or spoons. Some staffs are not familiar with the ingredients or menu when customers ask for recommendation. -Atmosphere: very busy at night and usually 10-20 mins wait for groups. Make sure to wait inside, otherwise people behind you will get the table first.

Wonderful dessert cafe with kind staff and more importantly - delicious food!! I always go very late at night (past 12 am) so most of their popular desserts are out of stock, so I recommend you visit earlier. Apparently, this cafe also serves meals, but I haven't had the chance to try them yet. This place also has a small room for two big groups of people where you have to take off your shoes and sit on cushions.

Came on a friday night. I was seated promptly, then waited over 30 minutes to place an order. Workers seem like kids and acted like it to in the kitchen, easily seen from where I was sitting and just doing aimless things. They need more service prep from employer to help the business run properly. Got my first dish, the grilled pork with only a spoon to use, waited a while for a fork/chopsticks after asking, eventually had to ask again for the grown up workers. Brought me the wrong tofu pudding after also. Got a yogurt item for the inconvenience after paying my bill Food was good overall, grilled pork is great when it's still warm, nice and flavourful. Miss on the pudding but was trying different desserts Plain yogurt is great more on the sweeter side of course

Wide range of dessert selection, good choice of background music, friendly staff, clean dining environment, and pretty decent dessert. I like how the food prepping area is really transparent, so you can see what's happening behind the scene. The house special dessert was REALLY good, fantastic flavour, TONS of jello and ingredients insides! The jackfruit dessert somehow taste a bit funny, and the fruit itself was a bit slimy.......I don't think it went bad, but just...not fresh Other than that, everything else were decent. NOTE: about 1/4 of the dessert are all ice LOL I guess that's how they reduce the sweetness from the dessert.

Extensive menu for dessert and savory foods to the point where my friends and I took a while to decide our order. The fish sauce chicken wings were fried well with the perfect amount of fish sauce flavor and a bit of kick. My milo flan dessert was super Milo-y and the crushed ice added a nice crunch. Pandan pudding had a bouncy texture but not much pandan flavor. Servers were keen and the place looked family run. Will be back cuz there are still lots of items I wanna try on the menu! Cash or debit only!

Very delicious cake which is NOT SO SWEET the cake is moist, topped with generous meat floss and salted egg yolk. The perfect combination of sweetness and savory that I’ve craved for so long!! The only thing that I don’t like about it might be the yellow sauce on top, I think it’s probably some type of mayo, a bit oily and flavorless, just my preference as I’ve never been a fan of mayo. I can’t wait to come back to try more!!

The atmosphere of the place is very nice, there are simple fruits that you want to eat, they have a variety of desserts, my favorite was a fried banana with vanilla ice cream, the meat has an excellent flavor, everything is very delicious. Sometimes the place is full so come in advance especially on weekends

Food was pretty good and price also good. Che was very nice portion and sticky mango rice was also tasty and good portion. I don’t know why the store was full of cigarette smell and it gave me headache. I would recommend to take out the food but not dine in. During weekend night it gets pretty busy so maybe avoid that time.

Always has a line up. Good place to eat dessert The fried banana was surprisingly really good. The asian tables for bigger groups were fun to sit at. There's even board games and cards at the back of the restaurant Bills for big groups can't be split. Is convenient that it stays open late though. I can see why so popular

Eating at Tina Cake since they are at the old location, never disappointed with their food and desserts. Sticky rice, bbq quails and sponge cake are my favourites. With the busy they get, sometime there will be a little of a wait but I can see the servers trying their best.

Great place to hang out with friends at night! We had the pudding with bobas, the banana crepe, salted egg yolk sponge cake and a peach tea. Everything was great and the pudding is my favorite! It's not too expensive, everything is around 6-8 dollars. Super full and enjoyable

Such a great ambience, I feel so relaxed and happy all the time I visit this restaurant. Best food , not overpriced. All desserts super delicious. And the best fish on the menu for me is there , fried pho and chicken stir fry with vegetables. (Last item on their menu ) good size portions. Great staff and customers around .

So we went to this place for a late night snack. The place is busy and from what we heard it’s busy all the time. It isn’t the greatest interior, small and semi clean. The food really made up for everything else. Desserts are great and even the pork chop with sticky rice was good. Pricing is cheap. Will come back again to try other desserts.

  • Michelle M

We ordered a bunch of stuff to share and it did not disappoint. The bubble tea flan was my favourite and so was the salted egg yolk cake and the durian sticky rice. The prices are so affordable and there’s plenty of space for late night snacks. I love Asian desserts and this place has a lot to offer.

Chicken feet was so good, well seasoned and very spicy. Chow mein and the Char Siu with sticky rice are not bad. The waiter was understaffed, we wait 10 minutes to get a cup of water, but they were friendly.

The last two times I bought sweet soup to take home, I found hair in it, but I overlooked it. However, during my recent visit to the restaurant, the staff was extremely rude. They didn't explain clearly at first, then raised their voice and

Priced really really well. Bright interior. Menu includes more than just dessert (such as savoury lunch and dinner items but I didn’t get a chance to try them.) the mango crepes were filled with rich cream and lots of mango chunks…more

Desserts are heavenly, staff is very friendly. Had the savoury corn and squid, plus tofu with pearl and flan with fruits. I’d rate the squid over corn and the tofu pudding over fruit flan. Hot sauce that came with the squid is amazing.

Delicious dessert! I love Che Thai, Thai mixed fruit with coconut milk. The taste is so great, not too sweet. And it’s good to share with friends. Friendly service and affordable price. More
