Uncle Sam Is Bad At Managing Stores This Post Office is woefully understaffed and absurdly hot during the spring and summer months. One of the employees was telling at his supervisor about how he can't breathe inside of the building. The wait time is extremely long during peak hours (not entirely the fault of the employees), and I get the sense that everyone there hates their lives. But hey, at least they have awesome benefits? The packing materials are twice as much as FedEx and UPS; but if you ship flat rate, it's actually a good deal (and to their credit: USPS gets there on time; even if they do kick your fragile box down a flight of stairs for fun). Do yourself a favor: just go to a properly staffed FedEx store and be done with it. And I say this after having an extremely bad FedEx experience, because picking freight companies in the US is sort of like "choosing" an ISP; they're all pretty horrible and you lose, either way. They're all pretty evil when it comes to new hire treatment (and in regards to how they treat their drivers), but at least at a FedEx store, you'll be in and out in only a few moments and the store will have air-conditioning.

Trash! Customer service trash! The lady working the front desk trash! You do not treat your customers like that especially when your customers pay your salary! I own a small business, and shipping is a big part of my business! I will no longer ship through the post office! I spent over 30k last year in shipping.... I will never ship through the post office again I am going to UPS and FedEx! The only thing good about this post office is it's about 5 minutes away from my house. I will drive the extra 15 minutes to go somewhere else. That lady should not have a job. I watched her be extremely rude to multiple people in front of me. And everyone she was rude to was nice. I started getting irritated with her and about gave her a piece of my mind. That lady should not have a job that lady should not work customer service. And she should be ashamed to work a customer service job. So I can assure you until she's gone I will never frequent that post office again. I will never drop off another package at that post office.

Soooo... I’m one of THOSE people who actually enjoys going to the post office, buying stamps, and sending out frequent notes and packages as a way to keep in touch with friends, family, and clients. Been living in West Seattle for almost 6years now and definitely call this branch office MY OWN... The folks at the counter have a long warming time, but they recognize me now and we exchange pleasantries when I’m across from each of them. Truly, I don’t blame them for being just a smidge on guard... they serve hundreds of people everyday, and I’m sure they experience a range of dynamics, personalities, and moods... especially when they need specific forms filled out. I love my post office. AND they usually have some of the latest stamp designs available.

I purchased a label from the machine in the lobby. The shipping label didn’t dispense, only the receipt. I went to the counter and asked if they could print the missing shipping label from the receipt, and was told no. A manager was kind enough to come out and open up the lobby machine and search for the missing shipping label. Not there. She asked if the transaction had posted to my bank, which seemed inappropriate given the RECEIPT I had. There was nothing she could do. I was given an “application” for a refund. No reversal of the transaction. Just a piece of paper to fill out. Quite frustrating. I don’t blame the personnel, just the system. Fortunately there are alternatives next time I need to ship anything.

Getting someone to answer the phone is impossible. The mail carrier has some strange aversion to using the building's call box, so packages are routinely undelivered, then vanish off the tracking grid. I've reported this several times, but the issue is never resolved. I just spent a solid 45 minutes calling - just trying to get someone to answer the darn phone so I can find my package - nothing. If you have a secure building with a call box, use UPS or FEDEX, at least they know how to use a call box.

Been going to this post office for many years. Always get excellent customer service here. And when there's been an issue with their delivery to my home (rare, fortunately) and I've spoken with the manager at this branch, it's consistently immediately addressed. It's one of the few places left where I can be waiting in line and strangers strike up friendly conversations, a priceless reminder of the strong sense of community many of us have here in West Seattle.

I've been going to this post office for over 65 years! People are great and our carriers have always been top notch but there wasn't enough parking 65 years ago and it's never improved! Feds fault. After this many years it couldn't get better parking and West Seattle has quadrupled in size (or more?) and we only have one post office. The one in Admiral closed. Other post offices all over the city have much better parking, accessibility.

The Lady working the front desk today. Extremely rude! Also extremely condescending! Not respectful to myself or the woman that was behind me. Don't give customer service jobs to people that have a bad attitude. If I were her boss she would be fired. My tax dollars should not be paying for the level of disrespect that I just got in that post office. I will never go to this post office again

  • shey dalida

Worst service! They always deliver our packages in wrong address and ended up losing them never received anything. Tried to call them about the issue but seems they didnt even bother to follow up the responsible person who carry our packages or assigned in our area. And one of the employee told me that our packages doent cost that much, so they just leave it that way . Rude employees.

  • Arlynn Helgenberger

Love this part of town, but this post office has the worst customer service ever. Really! If you accidently lost your tracking number and you have no idea how you could keep track of the package you send, they can't do anything about it? How am I gonna find that? I even offer to keep them my information they still say no. I even got it insured. This is not happening.

  • Shin Ryu

Terribly operated, bureaucratic, slow service, especially in recent years! There is literally one clerk at work with no sense of urgency while a dozen customers are frustratedly waiting in line. No, they have some employees not working at the counter but they would not offer help, even if you just want to ask a question. Looks like DEI policies didn't help.

  • Maria

Small but efficient post office. Fast & friendly team at the counter. Mostly street parking on CA Ave but a couple spots in a tiny lot. Wheelchair 6 the 2nd door is a tight squeeze. Boxes for sale but limited selection. If you need a certain small size "Regional" Priority Mail box (not Flat Rate) you need to ask an employee for one.

  • Ciarrah Hansen

They keep saying they attempt to deliver my package and I’ve been AT THE DOOR from the time they open to after they send me a notification that it’s been taken back to the post office. Been on hold forever, and overall unhappy with the fact they’re saying that my package was requested to be held by myself when that’s untrue.

  • Kiyomi Arevalo

No customer service, once they actually answer the phone. After getting nowhere with the unhelpful first experience, I've tried calling 3 times in a row and no answer on the second occasion a week later for a the separate need of assistance. How can nobody be answering the phone after three hours of being open?

  • Kat Smith

Decent enough but they have lost our mail 4-5 times since moving here a year ago—and it’s always important mail like paystubs or relating to our small business. We report the mail missing and then hear nothing. I’ve lived in many places and have never had mail regularly missing. It’s really a shame.

  • Jeri Szomething

Staff make no attempt to enforce or even encourage 6ft distance or mask wearing. Lobby setup will force you within two feet of other patrons if more than one staff member is available to ring folks up and again during entry/exit because one door is bolted shut and no one enforces distance from door.

  • Rachael Henry

Nice people. Forever stamps are $0.69 each or about $14.00 for a booklet so I would suggest getting those elsewhere because they are normally$0.55 each or $11.00 for a booklet. They have a good selection of cards for different occasions and the coffee is decent.

  • Miranda Harris Hamlin

I ship items for my business multiple times a week and have never been disappointed with this post office! Everyone there is so lovely and kind. As funny as it sounds I look forward to going to the post office because everyone is so nice there!

  • Priya Ball

Best USPS location I have found in the Seattle area. Always well staffed and everyone is helpful. Package drop off is easy as you typically don't have to wait in line for it. The main room is very small so social distancing can be a challenge.

  • Dano Beal

The USPS is completely unhelpful. I have not received mail even though the shipper has declared all items delivered. The ENDLESS phone looping message at USPS does NOTHING. If the USPS defaults or collapses, THIS IS WHY.

  • Ashlye Wasnock

They have the worst customer service. They hang up on you and their carriers can't seem to deliver anything to the correct address. Then they tell you that your apartment doesn't exist when they have lost your package.

  • Nicolas Meilleur

15-20 people in line, 1 person working. One of the busiest post offices in Seattle should be staffed better. Went to the one at Westwood village and there were 3 people working, was in and out in a couple minutes.

  • Noah

Wow sooo rude, what in the world. Avoid going into the line. Just pay online or at the machine and drop in the box, unless, of course, they lock it and force you to wait in line to just drop off packages.

  • Colleen Robertson

Helpful, competent, and friendly people working here. Tends to be lines but it moves along. Things are in general disrepair - not their fault - a product of (lack of) federal funding.

  • Megan Sullivan

They don't deliver packages and they don't answer their phone. How am I supposed to know if my package is at their office or not. Some of us work during their hours. It's just absurd!

  • Adam Purrington

Even before it was gutted by former administrations this was a dying government agency. This office is just another among many that is too slow, too cramped, and understaffed.

  • rmkensington

This post office serves a huge community, but never has more than 2 people working the front desk. It's extremely rare to see less than 8+ people in line. Ridiculous.

  • Tiffany-Ashton Gatsby

As post offices go, the west seattle branch is pretty awesome. Friendly staff, not usually too crowded, good parking. You can even get good coffee next door.

  • Sauce Boi Coke

Steve and Bruce help my wife and I with everything. We brought in 14 huge boxes and they help us every step of the way. Made us love the company even more.

  • Dan Ciske

Kiosk in West Seattle does not offer nor makes stamps. Post Office in Issaquah has 2 kiosks and prints stamps. West Seattle residents deserve the same.

  • David W

Very quick service at lunchtime in early December - I'd say that's pretty good for a post office! Convenient parking available, too.

  • C Upton

Have shipped and received lots of packages with pleasant interactions and professional service. A big thanks to all who work here.

  • Saga Foo

Best staff, professional courteous knowledgeable. They deserve an air conditioner. Seriously. Thank you West Seattle post office.

  • John Doe

Great place!! Always bring in a ton of packages and they supply us with a crate to bring them in from the car.

  • Greg Wilson

Typical lines, but the staff is rather helpful. Better experience than most post offices.

  • Sam Grant

Many times I have given them packages and each time they arrived at where I wanted.

  • Jayce Mavros

Good staff and really very good service! Highly recommend to anyone!!

  • Roberto Rollison

Just hopping I will not need to come here for another couple years.

  • Dumpvillian Entertainment

Po boxes are expensive but I do receive great customer service.

  • Teri Radichel

Won't deliver packages. No way to cancel tree killing flyers.

  • Nathalia Benefield

This place sucks along with anything in regards to USPS

  • Kit Lee

Always long line. Very few parking spot.

  • Susan Leipziger

As expected, bureaucratic and unhelpful.

  • Pete O

Very helpful! What a great service!

  • Sarah Sorensen

Very fast, and not very long lines.

  • Emily Guillen

  • Jeep Boss
