We had never organised a funeral service, so all seemed quite overwhelming. Sophie was our first point of contact and explained the whole process to us. Sophie’s extraordinary work ethic, was shown by her determination and dedication towards her role. She was extremely professional and exhibited compassion, respect and excellence that made her outstanding. We felt like a huge weight had been lifted during our time of need. She was happy to answer any of our questions and communicated very quickly and effectively. We had no doubt’s or worries about placing our dear sister Hazel, under Uden’s care. The family left feeling so relaxed and at ease. Sophie gave us info on a few crematoriums, and following many family discussions… and chats with Sophie we finally chose to go to Honor Oak Crematorium. We were so happy to have eventually made that choice as the crematorium and surrounding area was beautiful. The afternoon before the funeral Lee J, the conductor, called to confirm the plans for the day and to see if we needed anything. Lee was so professional & caring and had such a warming voice, once again we had no worries at all. On the morning of the funeral the hearse, 2 family cars and a London Black Taxi arrived at our home in immaculate condition. All of the team were extremely well groomed and looked sharp in their attire, they displayed exceptional respect and care. We were so happy to have been placed under their care. Sophie had provided the contact details for David M, who has the Black Taxi Service. The taxi was required for my mother who uses a wheel chair and is not able to walk or transfer. David M was so professional, kind, compassionate and caring he immediately made the family feel at ease, there was no question in my mind that he would be the right person for our funeral service. David checked out the route and contacted us a few days and also the day before the service, to see if there was anything that we needed. The electric taxi arrived, spotless and smelt lovely, there were cushions and a beautiful throw with music on offer as well (if needed), my parents felt so comfortable. David’s appearance was immaculate from head to toe, he looked extremely smart in a Tailored Suit and his warmth, support and attention to detail was impeccable. Although a sad day the team who looked after us Peter, Jack, Lee W, Steve, Lee J the conductor and David M provided the much needed comfort, that made the day more bearable. So thank you all! We were all over the place until we booked an appointment with W. Udens & Sons in Camberwell, Chris tended to our every need, answered ever email I wrote and every question my family put to him and looked after my father so very well, my father looked so peaceful in the chapel and it gave us peace seeing him so many times prior to the funeral and Chris was very accomodating to every need we had with placing items that meant something to us all in with my father and also the many times we went to view him. On the day of the funeral it was such a lovely respectful and dignified send off for my father, Lee the pallbearer rang the day before to assure my mum of everything and also let her know he would be available before the funeral, during the funeral and after the funeral. When we all saw Lee with his cane and slow marching down to where my parents lived it hit us all and it was emotionally charged with how beautiful everything looked but also overwhelmed with how final it was. Lee our driver on the day was also such a lovely person to look after us while we travelled behind the hearse on the day. The whole experience from beginning to end has been nothing short of exceptional and I recommend W. Uden & sons wholeheartedly without question. An absolutely impeccable and classy service from start to finish! W. Uden and Sons (Camberwell branch) were in charge of the funeral arrangements for my Father, William. In the midst of all our grief, W. Uden & Sons Family Funeral Directors at Southampton Way, Camberwell treated both our family and departed Mum with the highest degree of dignity, compassion and professionalism. We had no qualms about choosing them as we had used their excellent service in 2014 when we laid our Dad to rest. At the funeral parlour, Mum looked peaceful and serene and we never felt rushed each time we visited. On Mum’s day it was raining when she arrived home one final time. The team stood smartly dressed beside each family car with umbrellas wearing red ties as we requested (Mum loved red so we asked all funeral attendees to wear a small token in her honour). I couldn't of chosen a better funeral directors to look after my mum. I dealt with Sophie Parsons at the Camberwell branch and on the day Darrel. We were looked after throughout from start to finish. They showed compassion, bundles of empathy and the upmost respect for my mum. I can't fault their communication with us which was 24/7. No question was too silly or bother to them. Sadly my beautiful mother Jacqueline passed away on Saturday 8th of January 2022. It was and still a very very very difficult time which I didn't know where to turn to but thankfully I found w.uden & family. From the first meeting to the day of the funeral 14/02/2022 They were so nice, understanding and respectful. I couldn't have wish a better send off for my mother. W. Uden & Son was amazing with myself at a really sad time , Chris was great helping me plan my late mother’s funeral even right down to giving me recommendations of a printer to do the order of service which they did a fantastic job, and also a florist for flowers that was also lovely , and on the day Spencer and his team looked after myself and my family they did an amazing job at such a heartbreaking time they was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them . I looked at other funeral directors but actually decided I wanted to use the services of a local family run business and after looking at Udens web site decided to use them and I’m very glad I did they was very professional from start to finish and I would definitely recommend them 100% . From the moment we contacted Uden and Sons, I felt a sense of calm and peace and felt that they were the right people to help us with Dads journey to the other side. They collected Dad and kept us informed throughout the whole process, we are a large family and nothing was ever too much for Udens, they treated us and Dad like family and were very respectful throughout, the service received was impeccable. They brought Dad home the night before to rest and were extremely thoughtful, professional and patient. My mother died in October and was cremated on the 16th November 2022, her preferred Undertaker was Udens. I could not fault the service and the respect that was shown to her during her stay at Southampton Way and on her journey to the Crematorium at Honor Oak. I am forever grateful that her every wish was catered for and nothing was too much to ask - every detail, right down to the route to the Crematorium was honoured. It's hard to properly express our gratitude to Uden & Sons for the funeral of our father. Thank you from us all. We've lived in Peckham for 33 years so have often walked past their Peckham branch and seen their beautiful carriages and cars out in the streets. We spoke to a few other companies before Uden and perhaps it's their 142 year history as a family run business, but they seemed perfect. It's an extremely delicate art being able to talk with a grieving family without sounding fawning or obsequious. All of the Uden staff we spoke to and met were extremely friendly, utterly professional, caring and when appropriate even funny - truly wonderful people. There's also a remarkable eye for detail. I can't recommend them higher.
