I had 3 loads of laundry that I needed to get done quickly, and my machines are small and it would have taken me half the night to get them finished. I had seen Melba's Restaurant across from the Family Dollar store where I go for certain things for the house. Next door I noticed Wash World laundromat and it had a sign free dryers from 10 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. That's exactly where I went because it was after 11:00 pm and I needed to get this done as quickly as possible Sunday night, Father's Day. Problem was, I hadn't set foot in a laundromat in like 40 years. I had no clue what to do. I saw some large front loading washers, then I noticed 2 Ginormous front loaders next to them . It said I needed a card to operate the machine. I had to ask one of the waitresses from Melba's Restaurant which was wide opened into the laundromat and I'm sure they are owned by Melba's. Had to put a $10.00 bill into a computer sort of like a talking ATM... She told me if I wanted to wash all three of my loads together in the Jumbo it would be $6.49..Also before that you put a dollar in to get your card..then insert your$$ and it programs your card when you insert it after $$$. Then you are able to start the washer with the card to start the machine. Large and Larger dryers were named after famous New Orleans natives. I chose the Ann Rice because I love her books, mostly set in Old New Orleans...then went and inserted my card in the computer which said that I had a $3.51 credit. I will go back again if and when my laundry piles up!!! Next time I will definitely go when I'm hungry and eat at Melba's which I noticed had been given great reviews by outside food critics many years in a row!!!

The machines are great and they work well. The laundromat is clean and the staff and patrons are friendly. Our hotel did not have laundry service due to renovations. I loved the highlights of famous people from New Orleans, the art work and encouragement all over the walls. It is a nice touch, especially when doing laundry is not a glamorous task, yet it must be done. I appreciate the technology and having cards to operate the machines, but I recommend a buy-back program. This would help your out-of-town guests get their $10 (or more) back instead of just throwing the card away or losing it or trying to remember to bring the card on the next visit to New Orleans. I understand why this is not included in your policy and procedures today, but in the future, think about it especially for folks genuinely from out-of-town. Luckily, I found a gentleman getting ready to wash his closes and he was happy to get my card. I did not eat at Melba's, maybe next time.

My washer had broken and I needed a laundromat. I'm very suspicious of laundromats claim's of their cleanliness. However, Melba's Wash World LLC, are not just a claim. It's a very real fact! There's an old saying: "-cleanliness is next to godliness". Well that saying holds true for the owner and staff at Wash World LLC @ Melba's. Not only does Melba's serve great New Orleans cuisines through their friendly staff. Melba's there for you when things go wrong with the home or apartment washer and dryer. Take some friendly words of a person that's always dressed too impressed. Even if he's dressing to impress his self. So, when looking for a clean laundromat in this area, it's "Wash World @ Melba's". Thank you Wash World LLC @ Melba's.

Wash World at Melba's makes laundry not a chore. I had been going to another laundromat but they were closed on Wednesday's. I need to get my laundry done that day so I looked up laundries near me. All I have to say is "Why did I not know about this place sooner!?" The place is super clean. The machines are affordable and they WORK (very important). I love the fact it is part of Melba's. I put my laundry in, ordered a shrimp po' boy (delicious), ate it there at the ample tables available, then put my clothes in the dryer. I love the music playing and the general atmosphere. Everyone I encountered that worked there was very pleasant. This is my new laundromat from now on. I highly recommend it and Melba's! Eat at Melba's yall!

Pleasant experience, open 24 hours and best laundromat I've ever been to. They makes it worth my time to ride my bicycle 3 miles to wash clothes. It was never warm with the dryers running. They keep it cool and comfortable. There is a children's play area so parents can wash clothes without the children bugging them the whole time. Kids have coloring, reading, tv, toys etc. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Don't forget to say hi to Noor the owner's son. A special employee that makes people feel cared for and is willing to help anyone that has questions. I gave him a tip because he was patient and showed me how to use the cards for washer and dryers, which is more convenient than having to carry rolls of quarters.

This is by the far the most fun laundromat I've been to. I was having a brain freeze Ave couldn't figure out how to load money on the card to use the machines she an employee immediately sorted me out. I love that everything here is proud of the Black community. All the machines have a little picture and information about a famous Black person. I learnt a lot while waiting for my clothes to be done. And you can get a free book to read while you wait from an awesome selection of books! The prices range between $4-$6 per wash and $0.49 for 6 mins of dryer time. And Melba’s next door is another gem. Plus they have PARKING! Please click the if you liked this review and follow me for more reviews! Thank you.

Spacious laundry room, but the washing machine are so high in price. $2.99 for the small washer, $4.99 for the medium washer, $6.99 for the large washer. I'll honestly prefer to go to an private apartment complex to wash for $1.50 or $2.00 the most for a washer to wash clothes ! But I can say on the plus side. I did arrive one day my 1st time using the wash room, due to me just moving into the neighborhood. I started washing around 9:30 pm , when I notice the sign says dryers are free everyday of the week from 10pm-6am that's great cause I couldn't afford the ridiculous prices they had on the damn dryers either. Only golden egg, or brownie cookies this place gets from me , was the free use of the dryers !!!

Wayyyy better than everywhere else. The hours are reasonable for a laundry mat and they have a great food place and bar connected to the facility. 4/5 stars because theres only one bathroom and is usually occupied by some random person doing drugs but whatever but theres a porta potty in the corner of the parking lot is nasty >?< The daily deals on alcoholic drinks though are great. Been here 4 times now and finally making a review but the 15$ deal for 1 gallon of a strong daiquiris though. Overall the prices are whatever but better than the places around here. And it literally has a kid zone which is cool for parents

  • CrNessata

Expensive, and the washing instructions are unclear for first-timers. Not an employee in sight until halfway through the process - she was running around doing things while getting yelled at (poor thing). There were bad little kids wreaking havoc, so I'm thinking a better kids zone would help keep them occupied. Smelled like actual dog poop in the left corner of the place. This was about 7pm on a Sunday. They have giant dryers, so that was nice. They have a trivia game you can join, it's fairly clean, it's 24hr, and Melba's is tasty.

What a fun place ! I came here because my regular laundromat was closed and I happy I did. First off, the dryers are HOT and dry bigger loads quick. Very happy for that. Place is clean and has a colorful areas for kids. Good parking too. I didn't know there was a restaurant attached. Where there are tables in the laundry room area as well if you want to eat in there there's a restaurant with seating on the side. There's lots of books as well in the area where you order and a lot of local artwork which I really love. Food was good.

I've been living near Melba's over 10 years. It's the closest laundromat and I don't have a car. One day a few years ago the hot water was gone for good. I've went different times. I went was it was busy and I went when I was the only one in there. I saw a laundry in the lower 9th ward do the same thing. They save hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars by not heating water for the machines. And nobody notices. I am not a disgruntled person or anything. All I have written is true.

The service! There was a very nice cashier, that’s it. It was a first and last time visit for me. There was a technical issue and the machines weren’t working....after allowing the purchase of a washing card. The manager who responded to the issue was so rude and dismissive. Of course I gathered my comforters from the machines and went elsewhere because I spend my money with companies where I feel welcomed.

  • Dee Dee Keisha

A was a great experience even though it's a place to wash laundry I enjoyed the atmosphere and my children loved the fact that they have something to do as well. There's a spot especially for kids to color write on the chark board read and more you can get a free ice if you color and draw a picture I think that is a genius idea.. thanks for the awesome experience. Be blessed

  • Sergio Rosales

Very small facility. It was very busy and they only had to laundry carts available. Counted a few machines out of service. Which is a bigger deal when there are not many to start with. It is nice that it’s open 24hrs and that they accept credit card. Restaurant next door is pretty good. Overall, I think I would try to find a different laundromat.

  • Leslie Lainez

The only good thing this place offers is being open 24/7. The area is NOT SAFE and the employees are no where to be seen! The one employee I saw at the end was not wearing a mask correctly( It was placed on her chin). There is absolutely no disinfecting or wiping down of anything at all. The place is dirty and unattended!

  • Jill Hayden

Overall clean and friendly, but I have issues with their washers. They lock up the section where you are supposed to put liquid detergent, so all the detergent runs in immediately and is spent on the prewash and not for the main cycle. (this is not a problem if you use powder) also where you add fabric softener is locked

  • B Edwards

Night manager threw me out after I had walked there in the rain to do laundry and wouldn't give me an actual reason for doing so. He then threatened to call the police if I didn't take my wet clothes outof washer and leave. A rude person who probably assumed I was homeless bc of the bad weather. Still, a jerk regardless.

  • Rachel Johns

Lots of non working machines, you need a pay card (can use coins), the dryers don’t let you add more time during the cycle and the dryers stop prematurely causing you to swipe your card again and be charged additional when the time you paid for technically hasn’t expires yet. Scam! The ATM breaks a lot. Beggars outside.

  • Shawn H

Was working from out of town and used Wash Word for my laundry service. Great customer service, the staff was exceptionally helpful and polite. Got a chance to interact with 4 different employees and the owner. Each was very helpful and professional. Appreciate the commitment to customer satisfaction. Thanks!

  • Davina Anderson

I enjoy this laundromat because there is always open washers and dryers and free dryers after 10 pm which is such a reason to keep going in itself! I would love for the place to be cleaner so I feel comfortable putting my clothes in the carts and would like to see the bathrooms and floors a lot cleaner!

  • Alex M Wallace

Half of the driers are broken. If the location is vaguely busy, the backup to use the driers, have carts, find parking etc becomes backed up. Everything becomes backed up. It's awful. Just fix your driers ‍♂️ Meanwhile Melbas is expanding to another location Fix this one first maybe.

  • Adela Conner

A lot of large sized washers and dryers available, with stickers of some of New Orleans greatest know figures on all washers and dryers. Melbas is right next door you can walk from the Washateria straight over into Melbas on the inside of the building. And it is really open 24hours.

  • Michael M

This is the best place to do laundry and get a bite to eat. Melba's is right next door. And if you come after 10pm the dryers are no longer free Well to update this review they no longer offer the free dryers as they use to. But since the hurricane they stopped the free dryers

  • brittish bostic

Super crowded, bums out front and the dryers barely work. This place needs to get better. Only thing that saved my experience was the young gentleman (with dreads) that was quick to help and assist....other then that...id wash my clothes in the tub and hang them on the fence.

  • bunny killsman

It cost me $80 to do my laundry, because the machine for the laundry card took my $20 but wouldn't let me use the card and said the card was "invalid". Had to buy a second card and load money on to that one, but then had to get another $20 out to replace the $20 I lost.

  • Darlene Harris

Thank you so much for a safe and comfortable place to come and dry my clothes! I also love the creativity, the local history, and the push for literacy and reading in our city. And of course, I cannot forget about the delicious food you offer as well!

  • Jada Seals

Boi, I love it here.. I had some good crawfish, a lady bought me a drink, I actually folded my clothes, the washer and dryers were filled with fun facts about different people from New Orleans, I broke 3 nails and scuffed my big toe but had

  • Kay's Purple Heart

Good place to do laundry. 24hrs, free dryers after 10pm. The only thing is I hate using their carts because they are dirty. The floors look like they never sweep and mop them. The tables and benches are always dirty.

  • Crawbabies LLC

.99 a lb listed inside the business and in their website but it is significantly more. Was not informed about this until after hauling loads of clothes in. Don’t waste your time. False advertising.

  • Random QJW

It was busy for it to be 1 in the morning... But it was clean and had more then enough space for me to wash six load side by side... Love that.. and can u believe free dryer.. will be going back..

  • Angie Angelika

As first time user, got a bit confused with going through 'the ropes' but ladies were so helping and even borrowing me their own card, to get my clothes washing ASAP. I'll be definitely back

  • Randy Martono-Chai

Credit card function isn’t working, even after reporting the issue quite a few weeks ago. The place is trashy and the employees are rude and apathetic to my problem.

  • Abdul-Malik Coco

Had to figure it out (card) but after that dryers don't play. Clothes dried home folded. Will use this place til I replace my dryer. Still got $13 on my card...lol

  • Abdul Malik Coco

Had to figure out how to use card. But after that smooth! Most of all Hella Clean! Appliances work well. Sorry my dryer went out but glad Wash World was here!

  • Roxanna Davis

You have to pay with a card, which I thought was weird but it lessens the likelihood of a laundromat being robbed. Overall we were happy with our experience.

  • Tommy Bowers

Good place to do your laundry. Once you learn the card system they use at Wash World, everything goes smoothly. They also offer food/drink specials daily.

  • Ferdidnand D Bull

Card system is a RIP off. Washers cost too much to use a small amount of water for a heavy soil cycle for $.60 extra. Dryers don't get hot enough!!

  • Jo Jackson

Open 24hrs 7days a week Good location, seems relatively safe, attendant on duty. It is connected to, Melba's PoBoy. MsJo on the go!

  • K Alana

Expensive machines, Driers absolutely Horrific setting as low as it can go no matter what you put it on. Left with damp clothing.

  • Imgi Mustafa

The attendant (Ms. Kim) was very helpful and professional. Treated me as though I was regular customer and made feel at home.

  • Michael Metcalfe

Best place in New Orleans to wash your clothes and get a great bite to eat. From shrimp plates to subs of the delicious kind

  • Valeria Pogue

It's kid friendly, there's books and coloring books for the kids and Adults can have a Drink also while they do laundry.

  • Claude Poux

Cool place. It even has a pretty good diner which i recommend you check out whether you are doing laindry or not.

  • Eric Wolford

This place has souch history. I'm glad to have done my laundry here, and will definitely be back for the gumbo!

  • Dayvid Friedland

Always a great place to do laundry. It's clean, lots of machines, and food, daiquiris available.

  • Gina Beard

It's pretty clean and nice they are open 24/7. There are several machines out of order though.

  • Marvin Feggins

Cool concept! Wash and eat while you wait.

  • Shawn Palmer
