Waterstones Putney is the epitome of a bookshop and why we should all still use them! I know it is a big chain, but this store has a real local friendly cozy feel, you really do feel comfortable enough to browse, pick up find a corner and settle in for a read. It is well set out and stocked and staff are really approachable and friendly, so if they haven't got it they will look it up and order it for you, happily. I love that they do little write up cards for books/authors, these are really helpful. My favourite thing is to get three or four books go into the cafe area, settle into a a booth or comfy chair and have a read with a good coffee. Oh and not sure what you're looking for, then go with the recommendeds for the month, there is always a good pick. We'll done staff at Putney waterstones, you might be a chainstore, but you really are my bookshop around the corner!

This is a wonderful book shop, considering it is not the usual little independent I look for. The staff managed to give just the right attention to customers neither overbearing nor invisible. I took a teenager for a Sunday 'couch potato' session, we gathered up several books each after browsing, then sat in coffee shop side on big comfy sofa, feet up reading til our hearts content! No-one minded and there was no expectation that we had to buy anything, although we did as some good special offers. Will certainly be doing this again soon well done Waterstones for achieving what others have tried.

Most part quiet, which is nice if you want to read in store (which you can). There is nice chairs and a little coffee bar area where you can read. Has a good selection of books, however is lacking in the ancient history/history area as it's mostly filled with WW2 books rather than stuff about Aztecs, French revolution and other worldly history topics. It's got the same prices as any other waterstone, has memorabilia of pop culture stuff and they help you to order books to the store if not available. Overall pretty good

Went to buy I book that was mentioned on the radio that morning. I didn't know the title, only that it was on Japan. I gave the assistant the author's wrong name but I remembered on which radio was the programme, the name of it and at what time was the programme. And this fantastic person, went to the computer and looked for the programme, the people invited that morning and from that we got the right name of the author and then she arrived with the book. Incredible sales lady, such a patience and good will. Thank you!

We had a coffee at the W cafe, the coffees were of high quality and very tasteful. Staff were very friendly at the W cafe and they did a good a at keeping the cafe clean. The actual bookshop it's self was also very nice, lots of great selection of books which was clearly labeled making it easier to find the subject you were looking for. The store was also very clean, tidy, modern. Shall come here again soon, brilliant selection of books and the cafe was excellent.

I like their coffee, cakes and atmosphere. However, I am so disappointed with their post-Christmas policy of serving coffee in take away cups as it was predicted to be a busy time. It was not busy on the 27th December when this policy was in place. First I do not think it will make such a huge difference in terms of saving time and secondly and more important I think it is an irresponsible waste of resources and an unnecessary accumulation of non recyclable waste.

Poor attitude from staff member. Don't usually buy from Waterstones (prefer independent book shops, or for convenience only Amazon) but I had a £10 off stamp voucher due to an expensive purchase in Waterstones (another branch) previously. Woman working there (in book shop not the café) on afternoon of 3rd May, was uninterested, unfriendly and clearly didn't want to be there - a little hint for you then: leave! Won't be buying from there again.

Wonderful place to be - Putney Waterstones small but full of lovely books for all ages the children boos in the end of the store - there is a book for ever age, start from 1 year old. Some of the books marked as environmental friendly and some are marking as dyslexia friendly easy to read with special font. Staff is really busy helping a lot of costumers but I did my Christmas shopping - Marry Christmas every one

Book store absolutely fine. Friendly and efficient staff. The cafe used to be very nice and welcoming with a good range of sandwiches and coffees. The last 3 times i have been in. The tills haven't been working, given stale scones and yesterday found 2 hairs in my toasted sandwich. Not very nice. Tried to be fair and not blame the server but an offer of another one wasn't really the point.

I missed the coffee shop here. The consistency has always been good, they take the care to ensure the coffee tastes the same every time (unlike some shops where it doesn't). But I'm pretty sure they're serving the coffee hotter than they used to (different team). It was served at drinking temperature before, but now it has to cool down.

  • Richárd Vámossy

Lovely bookshop inside the little Putney shopping centre right by the entrance. Inside the bookshop they have a little, cosy coffee shop with a spacious room to enjoy your drink and your book. The staff is friendly and helpful, the selection of books is fairly big. Well worth the visit. Recommended.

It is a lovely shop with a built in cafe where you are welcomed to buy a beverage and read a book. The books themselves are a collection of hard back, paper backs and more. They also sell some cool board games that I always check out. The prices are fair and the staff are welcoming and helpful.

  • Paola Scanga

Great place if you need to work or study. You can sit in your place and stay with your computer. Good coffee and friendly staff. Sometimes is very busy and with a lot of babies, I love babies, but if you need concentration is better to know before. Good food. I tried the croissant and a soup.

  • Nadia M/M

I am very impressed with the customer service, the girl at the coffee shop was so nice and you could just feel she liked her job, great atmosphere, very good coffee, and the “sugar blocks”( not sure how it is called) on the tables were just so cute!! I wish I knew this place before.

  • Christina Kalogeropoulou

Looking for the latest published books? For something you need to buy as a present? I simply a space to sit and enjoy your books? Waterstones is the place for you. I bought an amazing writing set as well. If you have some time go check out their collection of envelopes and papers.

  • Milena G

Who doesn't like a Waterstones!? The staff are always there to help. You ask for an author and they will lead you straight on. I have given it 4 stars only as it is a little dark at the back and it seems there is hardly any children looking in/at books these days. A little sad!

  • Mick Dale

Nice place for a coffee. The high Street seems to have lost its coffee shops . Nero is further down but as there are less coffee places than on previous visits it was quite full. The coffee was good . Next time I go to putney I will return to Waterston and maybe but a book

  • Bella Verdemela

Your typical Waterston with an exceptionally nice cafe at the front. Newly renovated and very child friendly. Great gift books selection and nice layout. No sitting area to read a book though! Service is efficient but it lacks personal touch of a small bookstore.

  • Francisca Sconce

This shop goes is larger than it looks! There's a good selection of books and lots of places to sit, as well as the cafe area. It's also good for gift buying. If you can't find something the staff are very helpful and can order in specific titles.

  • Reya

I'm a book lover and I love Waterstones. It may looks small, but it has A LOT of books, the staff is helpful and all looks so organized. I usually spend 1 or 2 h in there whenever I get to Putney Exchange where it's located.

  • Louis X. Meikle

A bookshop with a wide range of literature, and a nice café to read in. Can be a bit crowded sometimes for a bookshop but it's not really a big deal. I would certainly recommend it if you were looking for any kind of book.

  • Jas Gill (Jas)

Always love a good book shop, this place was great, wide selection of books and stuff were helpful. As I needed some decent books for my young neice and was helped quickly and Info was provided without me having to ask.

  • Amy McIntyre

A lovely bookshop with a great feel to it. It's got a great big kids section at the back, and a cafe looking out onto the shopping centre, which has a really nice, relaxed feel to it. The staff are friendly and helpful.

  • Claire Fourcade

Great staff, the one who helped me had a lot of great recommendations and we had a good chat about fantasy books. The children's section was great as well, the kids bookseller was so knowledgeable and so helpful!

  • Thomas Bates

Putney's Waterstones well stocked and good to see some comfy seats for browsing. I liked the travel section and the collection of books about London. Could have spent longer than twenty minutes here, no bother

Good book shop with a great selection. They have opened a cafe inside. It's a nice touch but the coffee is basic and expensive.

  • Marc W

Surprisingly large with a good selection of books and a few board and card games and some very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

  • Mary De Caires

I like the atmosphere and that there's no painful background music overwhelming. Good coffee, yummy cakes, generous sandwiches.
