I love this dental clinic! The staff from the front desk managers to the personnel in the back, everyone is fantastic. Great service. Dr. Nelson is the BEST Had another appointment today, and again Dr. Nelson is AWESOME VERY polite and professional team. 14 Jan 21. Another visit today for teeth cleaning . Everyone is super careful due to COVID-19. The staff is very courteous and professional. The technician that did my teeth cleaning was absolutely awesome . I love the service provided. Dr. Nelson came in and checked my mouth and he was great. I would recommend this clinic to anyone. 24 July 2023. I had a cleaning today and the hygienist was terrific. I never have issues with my teeth getting cleaned. After she was through the dentist was on a major case and could not do an exam on me. I could not wait for an extended period because I needed to return home. I asked for another dentist to complete the exam but I guess that could not be done . That was disappointing .

They really need more compassionate people in the front desk working, especially when they are answering the phone or calling to confirm appointments, Alexis had a really bad attitude, she really could care less of the company she works for. Would not recommend this establishment at all, we are stuck going there because of my daughter’s ortho appointments but that is all we are going there for now, I am in process of moving Geena, myself and my son Rylan Emery and going to another company. I also asked for a manager to call me back both ortho and front desk manager it”s been a month and still no one has bothered to call or reply. Poor customer service stems from the top, with no callback from any manager or supervisor says a lot about the establishment!

I have a seriously painful tooth in the back of my mouth. I called West Lakes dental on Wednesday The 15th and made an appointment for Tuesday the 21st. The pain I am in is excruciating. I drove to San Antonio for my appointment at 8 AM and they said that they didn’t have me on the schedule even though we have emails where we tried to verify her insurance Earlier in the week. They don’t care and they tell me they can see me but they won’t do anything for me today because they’re just going to try and squeeze me in unacceptable. What kind of dentist can’t keep a schedule and what kind of healthcare provider doesn’t care that someone’s in pain. If you do come here, make sure you call every day to verify your appointment.

Dr Shah has seen my son for over 18months. He took over for another provider who had not been adjusting my son’s braces routinely. At first, in meeting Dr Shah and learning of a longer treatment plan, closing office location, and what I felt was a breech in contract (by Dr Smith) I wasn’t as pleasant toward him or about him taking over care. However, Dr Shah is patient, kind, gentle, and very competent. In hindsight- having him take over my son’s treatment was probably for the best. I have learned he has many practices and hope to see him thrive in his professional endeavors. I would recommend this location/ office primarily because they have the right orthodontist behind the chair.

A couple weeks ago my family was visiting San Antonio from out of state. My daughter had an issue with her mouth spacer on a Saturday morning. Not only did Westlakes agree to see us without an appointment they saw my daughter immediately. Dr Royal and her assistant Marvin were so kind and gentle with her. They did everything they could to help. They removed her spacer that was digging into the top of her mouth within minutes, offered up a prescription to help with pain and healing, and had us on our way. If we lived in the area of this office I would strongly consider switching to them. They were absolutely amazing!

The dentists are great but last time we went there was to get my sons wisdom teeth out. I called them all day trying to get the pain meds that they told me they would call in to the pharmacy. They never called them in after talking to them about 5 times and even the pharmacy calling them. I asked for a school excuse that I was told they would email me. They never did. I told them months ago that we changed our secondary insurance and have followed up that I continually get paperwork that they are still charging the last insurance. The office part is frustrating but I do like the dentists.

Went to have a bone spur shaved down after an extraction of the molar furthest to the bottom back of mouth at another dentist. Procedure went fine but towards the end during the stitches started to feel some pain. After being done Dr. prescribed med for pain. I get meds from Walmart and it was almost closing time. Front desk refused to fax script and said I had to take it in person that they don't call or fax to pharmacy. Pharmacy closed before I could get there so here I am in pain until opening time tomorrow when I'll have to take prescription then wait for it till it's filled.

The work of the dentist a technicians seems to be great. Administratively this practice leaves much to be desired. Failure to process paperwork causing huge delays in what the practice itself was labeling emergency work that needed to happen as soon as possible. So either the “emergency” was not much of a concern for them to process my paperwork or the emphasis of you need to get this work done “now” was to drive income generation without a care to my particular situation I may never know. I do know that the administrative practices of this office need tightening up.

After 1 year of my last visit they called me for remind balance of my visit Called my insurance and they told me that was unnecessary deep cleaning ! ( I thought they check with your insurance first and if the insurance will cover that they will do the job !! ) So I end it up un expected $421 balance charge with no discount After even my last visit I didn’t want to go back there bc they keep changing doctors and you don’t see 1 doctor for a while there ! But they end it up to even charge me after a year ! Not recommend.

Westlakes Family Dental is WONDERFUL! The staff members are very kind, caring, and professional. Their prices are definitely reasonable and the property is well maintained and comfortable. I was a bit anxious but the assistant taking care of me kept me calm. The dentist made certain that I understood what was needed to be done, how it would be done and that I felt no pain during my procedure. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a dentist!

They want you to show up early, but they make you wait until your appointment time. The orthodontist coordinator is never available. Doesn’t return phone calls. You think make an appointment and they are too busy in the office eating and laughing to actually take care of the patient because of course your life you have nothing better to do while they get paid to have fun at work

I came in as a walk-in emergency. The staff were very kind and understanding. They were able to squeeze me in. The doctor and assistant took care of me in no time. On this mornings follow-up and picking up my new partials, I received the same care as before. The front office staff are incredible. I highly recommend Westlakes Family Dental.

I visited Westlakes Family Dental today and had the best experience ever. Being new to San Antonio, I have found the place. From checking in to checking out, everyone were amazing. The entire team made the difference. Jacquelynn is so easy to work with, including insurance and scheduling. She goes out of her way to ensure quality service.

My experience had been nothing short of amazing! Each time I arrive for my appointment I am greeted by the friendly front desk staff, who make sure to remember my name! I would definitely recommend this dental facility for any dental work! Once my braces are off, I’ll be getting my teeth whitened and implants! So happy! 10/10 recommend!

I had a good experience. The hygienist was super friendly and knowledgeable I loved her! Dr. Nelson was amazing and knowledgeable as well. The front staff they were really helpful also and went out of their way to help me. I love coming here they are so thorough and plan to bring my kids here now.

While I didn’t get my hygienist’s name, she was passionate about her work. She insisted that I relax and cleaned my teeth well. She gave me tools to clean under my bridge and matched my sample with the current brand of toothpaste I use. My dental experience today was excellent.

Everyone there was so helpful and assisting me w my father’s appointment. He is a military veteran and they took the time to tell him “Thank You For Your Service” which meant a lot to my dad. I highly recommend this dental office as everyone was kind and compassionate.

Taking away a two stars because they changed our orthodontist without warning and we don’t love the new one. He’s abrasive and no bedside manner. I feel they have become rather pushy with services over the past year. Won’t be going back there for the next phase.

I have permanently switched to another Dentist office. Westlakes are too worried about milking your insurance for all they can get. A lot of hidden charges that all of a sudden are “ Not Covered “ under your plan. They hired about 6 girls

It’s always a great experience at Westlake Family Dental. I’ve taken my daughter there for over a year now for her braces and every time it’s been a quick in and out process with all of our questions answered and needs met.

This office is consistently professional, kind, and helpful. Half the time, I have my two small kiddos in tow, and everyone is always very understanding when they’re not perfectly quiet little door mice or get the wiggles.
