We travelled from 40 minutes away to this hospital, after making an appointment a week prior, but after the unprofessionalism and lack of care displayed, we returned home. On arrival, no attention was given to us. The reception staff was nonchalant about my cats who were in distress after a long journey and one who messed his cage. No 'please wait in the car Ma'm for someone to assist' but 'go sit in the car someone will come.' We waited 25 minutes in the heat & had to keep going to reception for attention. Having being our first time here & the receptionist didn't greet or explain - just handed the form to me with an expression of dissatisfaction. They have no manner of customer service & care or sensitivity shown to my pets who were crying all the way there and had to wait in the sun, one of them who messed on the long journey there. Other vehicles were given attention & reception laughed and talked with other owners at their cars while ours suffered. The least they could have done was tend to my distressed elderly cat who had messed himself. On expressing I was leaving, one receptionist rolled her head and left without replying to me, while the other got into another conversation & laughed away. Only when our car was out the driveway did the vet come outside & we were told we were the first appointment yet it was past 8.30. If this is how they treated us and excuse themselves with no empathy I can't imagine what they would have done to my pets. We came all the way expecting one of the best treatment for our pets. As a pharmacist, if I see a patient who is in need, I prioritise that patient & yes there are Covid regulations but I would expect the reception to ensure those in need to be prioritised to me.

Probably the worst vet we've been to. Took our pet and the only thing they seemed to care about was money. Charged R1100 just to see our pet for an emergency consult and advised that they would only proceed to do further bloods once paid exorbitant amounts such as R8000,upfront for simple bloods which cost R550 at other vets. Treatment offered and suggested by the "vet" was more like a scare tactic to do more treatment and once we saw another vet he was confused as to why the Westville clinic diagnosed our pet the way that they did. For eg: we were told that our pet had a very bad lung infection and upon doing a blood smear ,the vet had diagnosed our pet to be anameic, the vet we had taken him to afterwards had advised us that you cannot determine an animal to be anaemic from a mere blood smear. And upon taking our pet to the other vet they refused to release important medical information which was needed for its treatment. The receptionist told us, and I quote "If you really cared about your animal you'd bring it back to us". This was after they had stated that even though we brought the pet the previous day, they needed to charge us a further R1100 again as they have to re start from scratch as they have a different vet but apparently no records from yesterdays visit. When we argued this obviously silly statement she told us "it seems as if you are financially struggling". This was absolutely rude and unacceptable behavior. Bottom line, THEY CARE MORE ABOUT MONEY THAN THE WELFARE OF AN ANIMAL. If you wanted the best interest of your pet, do not make the mistake of taking it here.

Sad to say, but I, in my experience with Westville veterinary hospital, cannot see the dedication, compassion or interest for the care of animals at the clinic. It has merely become a basic job with a huge appetite for money. They will refuse to treat your wounded/sick pet if you cannot pay A deposit upfront, and all this during an emergency, imagine the disgust you feel after experiencing this. Vets without compassion or empathy just scamming distraught owners for money. In my experience, the vet has given me an entire breakdown of the prices and cost of treatment before even examining my pet. the vet refused to do anything without payment, he hesitated to consult and further held back treatment while my pet was fighting for his life. how do people like this even live with themselves? more than consultation it feels like a business transaction. this is the second time liaising with them, my first experience was reassuring and treatment was excellent, this however was a few years back, now things have certainly changed. I would not advise anyone to go there.

Very disappointed at the most recent visit here! Took our fur baby in after hours for an examination as she wasnt eating and had a lesion on her neck in which the hair fell off. We interacted with the after hours vet Dr Evans. She appeared friendly and helpful only to disappoint us by treating our pet for allergies. After 2 days we noticed our pet still isnt eating, lethargic and germs wound was becoming septic. I spoke to reception who advised we call Dr Evan's in the evening and she will make the appmt for the next day, if needed. We called Dr Evans only to be turned away and told to go to another vet whom we explained was very busy due to staff constraints. I am extremely disappointed with this particulars doctors treatment and general attitude towards her patients. I'm generally a very pleased customer of westville vet however this interaction has really changed my perception of this vet clinic causing me to feel very disappointed to say the least.

I'd like to express my sincerest gratitude to the Dr Steve Wimberley and Dr Keagen Boustead. I would highly recommend Westville Vet Hospital and the above mentioned Dr's if your four legged family memeber is in need of medical attention. My precious little bunny was severely injured and had broken her tiny leg in 2 places. The recommendations were amputation and even euthanasia. However, Dr Wimberly suceesfully undertook the immense task of repairing my darling bunny, Avi's leg. Avi is now well on her way to recovery. Dr Boustead dedicated his afternoon to ensuring that this tiny creature come through surgery and anesthetic without event. I am eternally grateful to both Dr's .  A big thank to the staff as well for treating us with dignity  and compassion in our darkest moments. The Dr's and staff were professional right from the start keeping us informed and sending pics right after surgery. Excellent service all round. Thank you again.

The vet that assisted my little one this morning was really kind and compassionate and helpful. Explaining everything well. But come on guys. Your fees are exorbitant. I get you are a 24hr operation. But you really are the only place people can take their loved ones after hours if there is an emergency. If they don't have the funds they risk the loss of life of their loved one. With the influx of desperate people turning to you when there is no where els to go... I don't see how this facility has any monetary issues. It takes away from care and love for the animals. Fix your prices.. They are truly, shockingly greedified. Again.. Vet was awesome.

The (Dr's) Vets are experts in their fields, and have a Genuine concern for the well being of the animals (pets) bring brought in. The bedside manner and the explanation of the cause of the Animals ailment is very clearly explained. What I find really amazing, is the simple things, like the early morning message to say your pet has had a good night and all is well, or the unexpected call during the day from the Vet himself, to inform you of your pets status. Other to this, the Staff on hand are extremely helpful, polite and attentive and clearly have your pets best interest at heart.

Obviously the cost of treatment is relative but you get real service from professional dedicated animal friendly caregivers and very caring doctors. We had the pleasure of meeting Dr Rees, a very genuine and caring doctor, who had so much love for my pet. Definitely a dedicated down to earth person with a brilliant attitude. Apart from Alison, the front desk staff are very unfriendly and need to smile more. The nurses need to adopt some basic mannerisms and stop acting like they are the doctors when in fact they are just the help, the only let down in my first interaction with WVH.

A huge thank you goes out to Dr.S.Wimbereley a true angel in our eyes,very kind and genuine,you gave us the hope we needed and helped us with our german shepard ,Dimples. Thank you for all that you do and for being so passionate about what you do we are so greatful. Thank you to all the staff especially the nurses who were involved in the care of dimples and during her surgery that she had undergone of the removal of her tumour from her paw,we appreciate you all tremendously. Many thanks from my entire family and from dimples aswell im sure she is really greatful to you all.

Thank you so so so much to Westville Vet for the most caring and reassuring service the past 24 hours! From the moment we walked in at 10pm last night we were reassured throughout the night and this morning on how our baby kitty was doing and she was in the best hands! I’ll never forget the words of Nurse Kirsten last night when our baby was admitted “atleast I get to cuddle her tonight” and I walked out feeling so confident that she was in the best hands and that is what was proved to us! Our new family vet for sure, all the way from Glenashley ❤️❤️❤️

We only went here because the Kloof Village Vet was closed. They did mention that they don’t have an Avian vet but when we got there, we were a bit disappointed with the way the vet spoke to us. He didn’t come across as caring and didn’t handle our parrot well (kept him in a dirty cloth without a space to breath for a while - wasn’t very nice to treat a living creature like that). The only reason I’m giving an extra star is since the vet knew what he was doing in terms of the medication but otherwise I’m probably not going to come back here.

Not an experience I would wish onto anyone, very cold and inhumane, more interest is placed on monetary gain, vet said my family would have the opportunity to bid farewell to our precious baby but as soon as the eft was done, our baby was euthanized not even their reception had the decency of letting us know until we had phoned because we were told to wait outside, because of the urgency we used them, I would rather recommend Dhoonside Vet or even Toti Vet, at least there, your pet is treated with dignity as a child of your family would be

My Pekingese Fur Baby Kai had a terrible eye ulcer on his right eye. The eye was so cloudy and infected I was terrified because I thought he would lose his sight on that eye or even lose that eye. With the excellent treatment given to him by Doctor Webster my Fur Baby is now perfectly fine. His eye has completely healed and is back to normal. I am very happy with the treatment that my Kai was given. The staff are super friendly and the hospital is very neat. We didn't even have to wait long. Thank you Dr Webster! Outstanding service!

I haven't been into the Westville Emergency Vet, however I did speak to one of the vets on duty on Sunday night around 21h30 and he was so helpful, patient and informative with me over the phone. I was not expecting the great service that I received over the phone especially at that time of the evening. I left the call feeling alot less anxious and comfortable enough to address the situation myself until the morning when I could take my pup to my local vet. Thank you to Vet Marcel (I hope that I remembered your name correctly).

Took my cat in on Sunday as he hadn't been eating and wasnt his usual self. I was told that he was in good health and they couldn't find any issues whatsoever. I must give him a week to see if he would start eating again, as it most likely is just a change at home causing it. I took him to our usual vet the next day and we found out he has liver and heart issues and as well as liquid around his organs. So glad I trusted my gut and got a second opinion. Now to just hope that it has all been caught in time for him to get better.

Thank you to Dr James Webster(opthamologist), Visiting there was such a pleasure.Also the 2 nurses in front were so pleasant and lovely to both us and my baby. We were so scared and worried before taking my baby Trina in but Dr had such excellent mannerisms and helped to put us at ease, and his treatment has helped her so much. Being unemployed the fees though high was not extreme and still affordable. I would do anything for by baby so to finally see her progressing means so much. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.

Excellent service from the staff and the doctors. Brought my dog in for a consultation, did not have to wait long before seeing the doctor. The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. A quick diagnosis was made and the doctor had given us multiple options moving forward. Obviously seeing a specialist comes at a cost but we were pleasantly surprised that everything was discussed with us, no hidden agendas. A huge thank you to the staff and the excellent doctors.

Poor service - won't be back. I understand this is the era of COIVD. But I was wearing a mask and used sanitizer before entering to purchase food. I was told to get outside - quite rudely. I was not even greeted. The store did not have stock of common Hills pet food for my animal. The management could do with changing their attitude regarding customer service - these days, as a retail concern, I would think you would be grateful to have any customers at all. Shocking.

The doctors there do not have any compassion on what they doing, I brought my cat in there from a car hitting her and she stayed over night and I fetched her the next day when he said it’s okay for her to go home… on our way home she passed away. I would really suggest go to Hillcrest vet much better. Th Doctor kept calling my cat “it” instead of she and carried on to do so. DONT GO TO THIS VET !

What a fantastic experience. Our Daxie, injured her spine late on Friday and was unable to use her back legs. After one call, we were told bring her in and they would do surgery. Fearing the price, we took her in. When we arrived they did a quick assessment , made a very fair payment plan and into surgery she went. 6 weeks later she is up and walking and chasing her ball like nothing happened.

Dr Wimberley is an absolute gem. When I was losing faith in the recovery of my boy. Dr Wimberley rescued my boy reassuring me that he will be fine.i cannot thank Westville Hospital and their dedicated team for taking care of my baby. Do not waste time with any other veterinarian in durban. Westville is the best. They are extremely compassionate n your fur baby is guaranteed the best care.

Last night I visited Westville Veterinary Hospital with a very sick cat that has battled many wars over the last few years and I knew her time was up. Anna, at front desk, and Dr Delport were very professional and caring dealing with her and an emotional owner. I am glad to know her last hour was in the hands of caring Westville Vet staff. Mom and I went in after hours as we had just collected our new chow chow puppy. He needed his inoculations and deworming. I'd just like to thank Lynn at reception for being so warm and trusting. We didn't have enough money to fit the bill and she was graceful enough to allow us to return and pay the deficit the next day. Thank you so much for what you did for us!

Absolutely friendly staff, and they offer amazing care for the animals. We generally deal with Dr Perling - she’s been fantastic with our kitten and is a very bubbly person :) Few months ago my kitten got into a major fall broke its back leg and had internal bleeding. Dr Vergeer and Dr Perling managed to get my kitten back into great health :D

Dr Steve Wimberley is absolutely amazing. Not only did he manage to rehabilitate a badly damaged leg on our Belgian Malinois without surgery, but he took great care of our tiny Yorkshire Terrier who required tooth extraction and sterilization. Westville vet really is top class when it comes to taking the best care of our beloved fur babies. ❤

Went there in an emergency since Kloof Village Vet was closed. The front office staff were not very good. The vet was rude and didn’t really care. Rude in his treatment towards us, the owners, and the way he handled our pet was not very nice. I don’t have a great impression of this place but I guess it’ll have to do in case of an emergency.

Excellent facilities, well trained staff, top specialists, and no nonsense. Without exception the best care I've ever recieved for my dog. I can not adequately express how impressed I am. The attention to detail, and real care offered, is professional and oriented towards you and your pet. The level of expertise available is world class.

Brought my dog who was limping badly into the vet who implied we were overreacting and that he would be fine by lunch. After it didn’t show signs of getting better I went to another vet and it turned out his leg was completely broken and he has to go in for surgery to fix it. Being charged 1200 for such a terrible diagnosis is criminal

I have taken my own cat here at around midnight and he was in very bad shape they sorted him with care and efficiency please note which I did not it is a cash practice and thus you cannot leave your pet there less deposit is paid first if it is an emergency I suggest you plan accordingly on the vet friendly staff and good service.

Horrible experience!!! My Rabbit passed away, so I phoned to find out about going in to cremate and the receptionist who answered was extremely rude. Questioned if i had phoned prior to the call (which was not the case as it was the first time ) and then she cut the call not even listening or provide any assistance or advice.

I had an emergency and their after hour facilities fitted me in. They were all so lovely and kind especially the vet who saw me. They gave me ample respect and time with my late dog Mollie who I had to put down. You might end up waiting a bit for your appointment and pay a bit more but ultimately they prioritise animal needs.

They are truly an amazing bunch of people. The doctor was so friendly and very caring. He assisted out little dachshund who broke his nail and was in so much pain. The only sad part is that you can't go with your dog, due to covid regulations they collect your dog from your car while you wait. But that too is understandable.

Hi my pet Milo was diagnosed with cancer, n had chemo there with Dr Reece. My other pet Latte has arthritis, n goes every month for an injection. The Doctors r the best. Helpful and friendly staff. Have been there many times over the year with different animals and the Vets are extremely helpful and compassionate with you and your animals. Fully stocked store for all your pets needs. Parking can be little tight if busy, but you can order with the store and collect which makes things easier.

Kind and friendly staff. We had an emergency with our little boy T-Man.. they looked after us and our boy. Assisted us in our time of sadness. Looked after us and our little boy. I took my little puppy in for an operation. The doctor was INCREDIBLY homely as well as efficient. Withen 3 days of the consult we had the operation done and the nurses and receptionist are all so so very sweet!!!! Great clean place. Would definitely 100% return. Despite being a heart breaking day as we had to put our fur baby off to sleep, Dr Allison was truly an angel. Her compassion and understanding was truly needed and she out did herself, not forgetting the very efficient staff who were waiting in the parking lot to recieve us and start helping as soon as we arrived.

Excellence in every aspect. Dr Steve is a genuine and down to earth human being. His honestly is amazing. Really gives us peace of mind knowing our beloved Cody is going to get excellent care. The staff are extremely profession. Money was never a priority unlike other vets and human doctors I have been to.

This is a place that truly understands that pets are family. The Veterinarians have displayed great knowledge about my giant breed of dog as well as information on how to keep her happy and healthy. Reception, handlers and the shop staff have thus far all been enthusiastic, well informed and welcoming.

My jack russel came in after hours with severe injuries after being attacked by a rather large 8 month old pitbull. He was stabilized, x-rayed and given the best care. It's been a week since the incident and he is well on his way to recovery. Thanks to the Team at the hospital who never gave up on him.

They don't deserve to be in the position they are. All they care about is money not your pet. It's so upsetting that we have to rely on people like this who give the wrong advise and you lost your pet and they don't take responsibility for their actions. They are Rude! and not sympathetic and all!

Such a warm well run hospital! The veterinary surgeons have a wonderful bedside manner and genuinely care for the animals that they treat! Our pup spent a few days there and was treated so well. We received regular updates on his progress as we couldn't visit due to Covid-19. Highly recommended!

Our 12 year old cat was knocked by a car. A very kind neighbour took him to the Westville vet hospital so we knew what had happened when he didn't come home. They were amazing and incredibly understand. Helped to make a very sad time much easier leaving us with good memories. Thank you.

Really clean and friendly. My cat passed away and a stranger bought her in. I was able to find her location on a WhatsApp group. The staff were so supportive and kind to me in my time of mourning. I got her cremated and received the ashes a week later. Beautifully done and very sweet

If you want a team to have the same heart as you have for your pets...then this the practice you place the care of your pets under! My personal favorite is Dr Steve Wimberley who is very focused when your pet is sick and finds their wellbeing and topnotch care his agenda at all times

Worst vet I've been to by far, took my dog in too check what's wrong with him on Sunday and he passed away on Monday. The vet still didn't know what was wrong with him and made me pay R3000 without knowing what was wrong with him! Don't recommend this vet at all! …

This is an excellent facility. Staff are very up with modern veterinary practice and kind, courteous, and caring. It's a pity that Covid prevents entry into the hospital and owned have yo wait in the cat park, but c'est la vie. Not cheap, but good service and efficiency never is.

Not good. I will stay clear of this practice even if my future dogs have to die at home. Purely operates from a business model and not a care model. My dog was not examined I was simply told he was old and was charged R2300 instead of the quoted R545 plus meds for the euthanasia

Not a pleasant experience putting your pet to sleep but Dr Reece was the great combination of competence and empathy. The staff were friendly and sympathetic. They noticed we were quite shaken up and even offered us rescue tablets and a glass of water. Place was very clean.

Dr Marcel and Dr Kirsten treated our fur babies. They did an excellent job and both our dogs are home and happy! Reception and nursing staff were also great. They also stock a wide variety of food, treats, toys and beds. Dont hesitate to take your animals there at any hour.

Excellent vet, the staff are friendly, the team at the hospital are excellent and know exactly how to handle larger dogs. They don't only provide excellent treatment but also aim to educate pet owners on preventative methods, as well as alternatives to costly treatments.

Our boy was having seizures and took him at night Doc Kirsten saw to him and stabilized him and then booked CT scan with Dr Phil Reece. Both Docs were friendly and answered all questions that we had. If you want proper care it comes at a price.

Absolutely disgusted... From seeing all the good reviews, I am sure that the doctors are amazing but the staff need a wake up call. Reception was so racist, rude and insensitive. We lost our baby girl and she had nothing comforting to say.

Great customer service and professionalism offered by the clinic. Dr Smith treated my 15 yr old fur baby Lola with respect and care. I have been taking both my dogs to Westville Veterinary Hospital and have always experienced great value.

They are awesome, when my 18 and a half year old cat, who was the love of my life, needed to be euthanized, Steve came and did it at my home, so Foo was spared the stress of the trip to the vet and crossed over the rainbow bridge at home

Such kind caring staff to both the animals and their humans. Thumbs up to our very special vet Dr Wimberley who we've been seeing since he was newly qualified. He is a really compassionate man who clearly loves animals (big and small).

They crooked me they charged 20k and they still tell me they have no idea about my cats illness. Do not waste your time and money for these useless people. Totally fraud and crooks.
