My nearly 4 year old son literally stopped walking, he couldn't bear weight on his legs so I took him to Williamstown emergency as we were nearby. He had an ultrasound and the doctor said there was fluid in his hip and it would resolve with nurofen and rest but to come back in 3 days if he wasn't walking and/or had a fever or vomiting. 3 days later he still wasn't walking and had developed a fever so we went back. A different doctor said there was no mention of fluid in his hip in the notes, that he had tonsilitis and suggested he was faking not being able to walk. He was unbelievably blase about my son, aggresive and rude. A nurse in emergency said I should stop pushing him in a pram and force him to walk and insinuated I was making up the fact he couldn't walk and that he was spoiled and manipulating me! She was incredibly rude and snide. I took him straight to the Royal Children's and whilst a junior doctor had no idea what was wrong, the Consultant pediatrician took one look at him not bearing weight and diagnosed him with viral myositis, an inflammatory reaction post-virus sometimes seen in young boys around Spring-time. Long story short, if you are a parent, NEVER waste time at this hospital with its rude and incompetent staff. Their attitude and treatment of me was extremely distressing.

Prior to surgery Susie and the team were amazing in prepping. Thank you Halina for your profession. After the surgery I received dismal treatment. I had 2 graduate nurses, one of them laughed at me when I said I was in pain, the other kept getting everything wrong, thought I was a different patient and called me a different name. He was really trying though just needs more supervised support. I was discharged with a graduate nurse who had the wrong surgery written on my discharge form. He did not provide accurate discharge and home treatment info. Not his fault there was a pharmacist that was suppose to discharge me but they never came. The graduate nurse told me to visit a pharmacy and get the info from there. I should of been discharged by a doctor! When I called the hospital 3 days after treatment to get discharge info they couldn’t tell me any info as I could not quote the ward I was recovering in. No one told me this detail and it was not on my form. After guessing I got through and found out I should of started my home treatment two days ago. All a huge mess. Now I’m recovering from an infection. My family doctor is now looking after me and is incredible (thank god) If only I had the surgery prep team in the recovery ward!!

Thanks to Williamstown GEM center for treating my mom, Sarah Glover – Gem is credited with so many dedicated nurses and health professionals. My mom wouldn't have attained remarkable improvement in her health condition without these health professionals. Physio Manny by his magic touch improved her from a point she can't stand to a 40 meters walk-able point. Dr.Nadeline with her friendly smile gave full confidence and encouragement to every patience. Nurses like Sotos were so attentive and always there when patients needed, he walks fast to reach the patients but handle them gentle. There are so many other friendly nurses and staffs like OT Jess Head nurse,Lou,Kibra etc had been helpful all the way. Even Food supplier and cleaner Grace spins like a 'Top', she is so hard working and dedicated to her profession. On the other hand, some night shift nurses, especially one on Saturday,12th of Jan just want to sit in a chair, rather than doing her duty – There is a greater risk of patients falling when nurses are reluctant to do their duty.I know that night shift job is even harder, at the same they cannot be so careless- Roger

My friend was transferred to Williamstown hospital and suffered Pressure Injuries on his feet and heel. Not only the nurse did not attend to these PI, he was forced to stand on his feet to walk. I found used sugar prickers, used sugar testing strips on his meal table and on the floor. I also found soiled nappy left openly in the general bin in the shared shower/toilet. Despite the doctor diagnosed him dementia, he was asked to sign form on the same day, without answered the question what happened if he refused to sign. Every nurse used the same phrase "This is my first day working in this hospital, I am still not familiar with the EMR computer". The "Call for help buzzer" was not attended to for more than 30 minutes. I was asked not to come until visiting hours but I knew my friends and other patients family members were visiting their sick family member at the Williamstown hospital from 8am to 10pm every day for months. My friend will not survive under their care but he has no family members to speak up for him. The nurse in charge and many others did not wear name tag to be stand out for any situation.

On arrival on Monday 13th June the nurse in triage who unfortunately did not wear a name tag (dark haired Asian lady) was positively awful. Rude, abrupt and uncaring to say the least. The admin girl wasn’t much better (at first) but improved a bit over time. She was frustrated (I think) that my date of birth had been entered incorrectly at a previous visit on 14th May. Once I was able to prove my date of birth (my word wasn’t good enough) her mood improved somewhat. Maybe because she was rostered on with worlds worst triage nurse put her in a yucky mood. I’d understand that. I was taken in pretty much straight away and the treating nurses, Kim, Irene (in particular) and Nav were really really nice. I was seen by Dr Mohan ?? who was very nice and was being very careful ordering varying blood tests, swabs and X-rays. I next saw Dr David R ?? who was a funny (in a good way) and very very nice also. If not for the terrible triage nurse on duty I might have added an extra star. (Note there was no one else in the waiting room when I arrived so it’s not like she was run off her feet at the time)

Child recently had surgery there and because aesthetically it didn't have the bells & whistles I expected the worst. I was wrong! Every single staff member we interacted with was amazing! They made our stay so much easier. Had a room to ourselves, which they said is common being a smaller hospital. Always a win! Thank you to our nurses Kaz & Rubee. Ally & Mia! That's how great they were we remembered their names. The food was worse than the average hospital food haha but with Uber & so many food joints close by there was no drama. Cafe on site. Not that great a selection but they are small & quiet a lot it seems. Had a chicken & avo on a zatar bread. Cost an arm & a leg at $15. Despite the price it was delicious. Parking across the road is free which is great. However it's near the train station & I think I checked my car, esp staying overnight, maybe every hour I was that worried it would get stolen.

By far If I could give the emergency department a 0 rating, & that would me being generous. We’ll start off with me, i was having an asthma attack and all they wannted to do was send me home, as it was nearly closing time, when my lungs were pretty much collapsed. My father went there with stomach pains just over 2 months ago, they sent him home with pain killers and that nothing was wrong with him. The next day was rushed to Melbourne hospital for an 8hr operation. Last night my 2 year old sister went there after she had fallen, dr said she was “okay and just in some pain” and sent her home. This morning went to sunshine, to find out that she had a broken collar bone. If you’re sick or injured I would never in my life recommend Williamstown emergency hospital. The only thing they’re good for is sending you home with painkillers.

  • Anne Buckley

Lovely nurses, doctor and staff but a real reflection of how poorly funded our public hospitals are. I waited 3 hours in pain only to find out that the procedure I needed could not be accommodated. They simply didn't have the facilities. The procedure? Ear wax removal using an ear syringe. Yes. The "Emergency Department" in this "hospital" could not perform one of the most basic procedures in medical practice. All because they didn't have a single modified syringe for use with the ears. To the nurses credit they tried to find a superclinic for me that was open at 9pm (I'm not joking) but in the end all they could do was send me home with painkillers. The doctor was kind and apologetic. I had no reason to doubt his sincerity. I hold no grudge against the staff whatsoever, but I am still in shock.

ED is fantastic, All the stars in the world for their amazing work. I only waited 20 minutes and was treated amazingly by the nurses and doctors I saw However, the receptionist at radiology with the curly hair is SO RUDE??? I was taken to radiology from ED and she had the audacity to YELL at the nurse who took me?! All we did was enter the door. Extremely rude service from her, she needs a customer service course. She also yelled at multiple other patients while I was in the waiting room. I won’t come back until this lady is fired, she doesn’t know how to work with patients and needs to learn some respect. I don’t want to bother her anymore Western Health please do something about her, I’m not the only patient who’s complained about her apparently

  • Dino

Only give 1 star because it won't allow 0 stars! I would not recommend this hospital - the Triage and Admin staff at the front are rude, non-compassionate and do not follow their own signs/process!! They caused us undue stress and anxiety in an already stressful situation dealing with my partner and a suspected heart condition! So much for taking care of people and avoiding any further health issues! Also, the Western Health website says you can chat to the manager/nurse in charge to discuss and resolve issues which we did, however they could not provide an appropriate explanation/response at the time! Useless. Please avoid - there are better hospitals nearby, especially Footscray.

  • Geens JC

Presented at ED and from there my experience was top notch. Admin/Triage desk were gentle and patient and nurses and doctors were absolutely wonderful, professional and went above and beyond for myself and other patients. I’ve been to the hospital many times and this hospital by far exceeds my expectations. Great patient care and kept me updated throughout my time there. I felt the utmost care and respect in their hands and am very appreciative of what these people do. A huge thank you and keep up the great work! I hope Mercy Werribee take notes of the above because the same could never be said about that place.

  • Wol Ashwill III

just WOW! I went in for an ACL reconstruction and overnight stay and I had such a fantastic experience here, from the nursery to the surgeons and even to the other patients everyone was so lovely and nice. Just a bunch of professional and amazing staff. REALLY THE BEST EVER and took amazing care of me with smiles and no bad energy targeted towards me or anyone else because that’s something you really do feel. If I was ever to be admitted again I would definitely love to stay here again, time just flew and honestly didn’t feel uncomfortable or less like a home. Thank you Williamstown Hospital staff!

  • Yashaswini Reddy

Went to this hospital tonight and the Asian nurse on the front at the emergency building is absolutely the worst She was the rudest person, we asked her how long the wait was gonna be in a nice manner and got told to “go back home if you want to, you look absolutely fine anyways, we don’t have the x-ray machine anyways tonight.” She was rude and diagnosed me and told me I’m absolutely fine without checking me. Just wondering if the hospital would take the responsibility if I did go home and turned out I was really sick. Very rude and absolutely disgusted by her behaviour.

  • Lisa

I live in Seaholme Altona but never know their is a hospital here in Williamstown. My niece hurt herself in training and my wonderful neighbors Sparky direct me here, to this amazing easy to find a car park, wonderful staff who easy to talk too n we felt comfortable in their direction. I been to Footscray n Sunshine Hospital but I feel too busy n confusing in directions everywhere, maybe as it's too bigger than Williamstown but this is my kind of hospital. I love Williamstown Hospital and I thank you for your services, keep it up

  • Victoria Garrett

My experience was really positive at this hospital - my number one concern with hospitals is the staff (they work so bloody hard and long hours, they can’t be lovely all the time) but everyone was fantastic. They were responsive, gentle and sympathetic. Even though they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me at the time, not once did they doubt my pain - and it was a lot. They worked so hard the night I was there, and I can’t thank them enough for their care. It makes all the difference, and it made me feel I was in safe hands.

  • Robyn Alhajji

I took my 6y old daughter been sick for 4 days. She could not keep anything down and worried about dehydration at this point. The 1st doctor was really nice and could see he made an effort to connect with her. Told us to try iceblock and of no improvement come back the next day. We'll we did and we wish we didn't the nurse at the frount was rude and the indan doctor was like just get her to drink . Told us to go home and if she is still sick tomorrow go to sunshine they deal with kids. Poor care on his part. Really disappointed.

  • Khaled Taleb

My daughter went in feeling really sick my daughter told me she was told to go home and that she looked fine by an Asian lady at the front desk how disgusting her behaviour was towards my daughter 7 ppl came after my daughter and were seen before her in the end my daughter just walked out due to the Asian ladies behaviour its not good especially when dealing with really sick patients I mean why would my daughter go there if she wasn’t sick and wait four hours for nothing very discusting

  • Jo Ann

This is long overdue but Williamstown Hospital is very well-deserving of good reviews. I had laproscopic surgery on the 21st of February (2023) and I am so amazed at every single encounter I had from receptionist, nurses, anaesthesiologist to the surgeon. A massive shoutout to Julie, Sue, Sheila, Vanessa and Dr John! They were all so kind and comforting and very professional! Thank you so much for providing me with a very safe , calming and comforting experience! God bless you all!

  • Ahsan Uddin

I had a knee surgery yesterday and everything seems to be alright. Just wanna say a Big thanks to my surgery team, my orthopedic doctor Andrew and anesthetic doctor Mr Garoth if I’m not wrong who was really friendly and explain everything with positive attitude that helps me a lot to keep my nerv calm before the surgery. I’m very much grateful to him and the whole team as well. Overall experience is good apart from one nurse who doesn’t seem friendly to me.

  • Shak shak

Jade the asian nurse One of the worst nurse I have ever seen my life! I had to deliver her food, she said she would wait outside and when I came delivered her food from the busiest restaurant. She didn't turn up and when I got into the hospital she was yelling at me!! What a pathetic attitude she has,I have best experience with lot hospitals, they are very nice people, despite helping her she rude as! Hopefully, she gets fired!!

  • Annie Smith

Worst experience ever I have hg which is a pregnancy disability where you constantly throw up I went in for a drip and this old nurse with spiky hair ripped out the needle from my vain as if she was waxing my hair and blood went splashing everywhere I was moaning from the pain It was the most painful experience and she didn’t even have the nerves to say sorry, she had absolutely no care factor what so ever Hope she gets fired

  • Michael Jon

Had an absolutely great level of care from nurses and doctors for surgery on my broken wrist. The overnight care was great (though you do get woken up every two hours for checks, can't be helped, so be it). Shout out to Phillip, Fajah (spelling), Caitlin, Steph, Michael, and everyone else who I might have forgotten in the LWW wing, this had no right being as good as it was, your relentless efforts made me feel very safe.

  • Tim Bowers

Sent a staff member there with a bad head cut. He waited for almost 4hrs, in the middle of the day, when it wasn’t busy. Others came and were seen with far less serious issues. In the end he had to leave. Zero communication with him whilst he was there. They treat patients as an inconvenience. Unacceptable in a modern country like Australia. We deserve a better standard of care. If I could give zero stars I would.

  • Cheryl Desailly

The hospital has always been a reliable and reassuring local haven in times of personal health crisis. However my experience with the attending Doctor on Friday 9/6/23 was poor and bordered on elder abuse. The rest of the staff were wonderful/ professional & caring. The doctor was argumentative, failed to fully inform me of side effects to treatment and was dismissive to my pain & fear. Cheryl Desailly

  • Svetlana N

Horrible place, rude staff, takes 15-20 min for someone to come after ringing for the nurse and people who work for medical equipment rental companies act like pushy car salesmen, threatening to keep your family member in that hospital if you don't rent equipment costing $1200 a month from them even after the patient repeatedly told them he doesn't want it and won't use it! Disgraceful place!

  • Clinical Imaging

Avoid if possible. On two occasions a year apart had the exact same experience of apathy when presenting with my injured infant. Waited 5 hours to first time, and after two hours the second I left for Royal Childrens. I understand it’s a thank less position, I understand operating in Covid times is not ideal - but either fund this unit properly or equip it with staff who want to be there.

  • Frankie Tseu

I cannot express enough gratitude for the care my partner received during his operation at this hospital. The staffs was incredibly friendly and willing to assist with any needs we had. They went above and beyond to ensure that the preoperative preparation, operation, and follow-up went smoothly. Special shout-out to Nurse An, Katherine, and Amanda for their exceptional care and support.

  • Daniel Jonker

Was booked in here for an operation today. Every single staff member from the receptionist to the nurses and the doctors were top notch. Everyone was so professional and their bedside manner is impeccable. No question was too much to answer and everyone always tried their level best to put me at ease. Huge Kudos and a many thanks, you made an unpleasant procedure much more bearable

  • Abdel Osman

I take my daughter to the emergency on Saturday night she was have ear pain ,and the emergency dct that check her ear he said nothing wrong with her ,and he didn’t check her properly , my daughter couldn’t sleep from the pain then couldn’t take her to her doctor until today and her doctor find out she have ear infection in both ears !!!

  • Eb Hussain

In rehabilitation: nurses are rude, dont listen to patient, dont share information with family, dont get an interpreter for patient who doesn't fully understand English and it is documented. Nurse on night shift tells patient not to press the buzzer when she needs help unless it has been atleast 2 hours since she pressed it last time.

  • Slade Yuille

I had to come to the Williamstown Hospital for a hip replacement and expected to be in hospital for a week but to my surprise I was under the knife on Thursday 24th March and will be released on Saturday to my surprise as the nurses and medical staff are very impressed with my quick recovery and walking once again on a walking frame

  • Dorota Dodulek

Just left Williamstown hospital. All staff, nurses, doctors wonderful, very helpful and attentive. The only pity I had to wait over 9 hours for the operation: got there at 7:30, was operated on at 17:30. Feel sorry for the doctor who had to work that many hours in one day. Otherwise received amazing care. BIG THANK YOU from Dorota

  • Kate Saker

I've had a very good experience with Williamstown hospital and wonderful staff with the exception of just one staff member who i felt a bit bullied by and deliberately I felt intended to embarrass me in front of other patients, she was v rude .with other staffs kindness I continued my treatment. Great little hospital

  • Yvette McKersie

Walked in feeling VERY ill with breathing difficulties, all staff from security guard, triage nurse, admin clerk, nurses and doctor were very good. Nurses and doctor were caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and very good at their jobs. They got my breathing under control and sent me home with good instructions.

  • paul & katrina gliddon

My son just presented at emergency with an extreme throat infection, was 4.30 on a Sunday afternoon. A nurse saw him, extremely short with him, spat the words to him, “well there is a four hour wait, so you you should just go to a G.P. A bit disappointing. We also work with the public in The health profession.

  • Zion Fallon

Williamstown Hospital has extremely dedicated staff who all have the same priority; taking care of patients. The staff at Williamstown Hospital are extremely friendly and professional and always provide holistic care to every patient they see. At Williamstown Hospital, your care is always in great hands.

  • Bonnie Lee

Came at 10:50pm with my partner who had a dislocated shoulder and the website says the hospital closes at 11:30. We show up at emergency and are turned away by security saying the hospital closes at 11pm. I have never had a positive experience at this terrible hospital. Definitely go anywhere else

  • Francesca

Stayed overnight for a hip arthroscopy- every single nurse was beyond lovely, kind, gentle and friendly. They were attentive, kept me updated on meds, came whenever I called and helped me anything I needed. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, very very pleased with my care here!

  • Caz M

Indian doctor was rude & unprofessional to say the least. Clearly the gp referral stated ‘pneumonia’, yet still, with attitude, he proceeded to ask, ‘why are you here? What do you want me to do?’ Most uncomfortable hospital experience ever. Would not recommend Williamstown Hospital!

  • Steve C

Came in quite late due to extreme pain around my ribs after a fall. Within 1 and a half hours, I was in and out with X-rays done. I was worried originally that I would have to wait for a long time, but all of the staff made it a really easy, efficient and stress free experience.

  • Thor Aspden

Despite the long wait just for a 10 minute or so consultation in the emergency department the staff were fairly good and done their best even though they were short staffed and not enough rooms/beds other than that I had a pretty good experience I will go back when I need to.

  • Maria Doumanis

4 hours waiting to see if a pill damaged my elderly mothers throat and yet to be seen by a doctor. I'm pretty sure if there was damage it would have already happened. How bad has the Australian Health system become when a simple inspection needs 4 + hours? Just sad

  • Tim Fitzgerald

I just had a simple operation done and the professionalism of service was amazing in every department. There is a great team vibe there and everybody works well together and makes you extremely comfortable. Best hospital experience ever ! Thanks again team

  • Venomin

ED was great. Clearly states until what time they were open until. It was fairly busy and it took a few hours for me to get seen, but that's how triaging works. All staff were very nice and courteous. Doctor listened to you and gave expert advice.

  • Renee Lee

Absolutely couldnt rate this hospital, staff, doctors and nurses more highly. I went in not able to breathe the best, coughing spasms leading up to my visit and during and was seen in a quick and timely manner. Straight away the required

  • Ray Sharp

I would not recommend this hospital to anybody I have been to every other hospital this year and this was the worst I have walked into I thought I was walking into a prison The most arrogant staff out the front I have ever met

  • AngieJorgen EightandBeyond Poetry

Extended wait times and very rude staff. Especially one older woman possibly in her 60s a nurse at front desk working on a Monday evening. She was completely unprofessional and rude also providing incorrect medical advice

  • Graeme Leach

As a regular visitor to the radiology department I couldn't wish for friendlier and more accommodating staff. The staff are a credit to this hospital, there is a lot some people could learn from the staff here.

  • shae Fiu

Some staff are great had a couple of rude nurses on the night shift couldnt believe what I was hearing if someone is going to be that rude they shouldnt work at a hospital or they much hate there job that much

  • R Rose

Great experience from entry to exit. Condition serious but managed so competently, professionally, and with kindness.. from entry security guard, Triage, through to ED Staff. Very very grateful to all today.

  • I M

Thanks heaps for all the help and care i received last Sunday. From the moment i walked in to see Irene and Joyce at the triage window, to all the doctors and nurses who help treat me. You were all amazing!

  • Paul Murray

Terrible, avoid!! Took my 5yo waited for over 3 hours, would have still waited hours later. Staff without empathy or just over their job, other more compassionate hospitals that care!! 1star is generous.

  • Paul Zahra

Emergency is Under resourced and only offer excuses. If you face an emergency better of going somewhere else. Not an easy function to perform but has to be fit for purpose otherwise what is the point.

  • Kez ShowMeTheMoneyCrypto

Amazing and caring staff, everyone one from the triage nurse, to the nurses out the back and the doctors. These people really do care. Thank you guys so much for taking good care of me on Monday
