Well, my office is close by, so I noticed some things that most people coming here now and again wouldn't. THE CAKES Firstly, the turnover of the cakes are low. By this I mean, when you decide to get the cake in the window, that cake might have sat there for a few days. True, some cakes can be kept like this for a while, but apart from this, I also have had a few bad experiences with their cakes. Whilst I am not sure whether the baker has changed since then, a few years ago, I ordered a cake from here for my birthday and when we tucked in at the restaurant, one of my friends told me that her slice contained a piece of chicken bone. Yes, you read that right, chicken bone. How does a chicken bone get into a cake? Was the baker eating KFC whilst baking? Well, maybe it was a one-off? No! As I was spreading news of this monstrosity that happened to me far and wide to my circle of friends, one of them told me they also found a chicken bone in their cake from this place. Amazing! This means either that 1) the baker likes to play jokes on people 2) He loves chicken so much he decided to share 3) it's a secret ingredient to a successful Chinese style cream cake 4) Hygiene is a real issue here. I will let you decide by yourself what you think. Needless to say, whilst the cakes are really pretty here, I do not buy cakes here anymore. GENERAL SNACKS Same issue as the cakes. My colleague bought a jar of some Malaysian type snack sauce, and it was completely off. As she knew the employees, they gave her a refund even though they had no idea what the product should normally taste like. The price is not the cheapest either, but they do seasonal stock like the mooncakes at Mid-Autumn festival and have a good range. So if you are passing by and are attracted by the cakes at the front, you could go inside and buy some snacks and drinks, but beware of the cakes themselves and always check expiry dates!

I was up in London from 16/18 April with my daughter and decided to eat in the Chinese Quarter. While browsing we came across this cake shop and decided to buy one of the cake slices in the window. We also bought a cream bun each - they were £1 each and their size was unbelievable. We saved the cake slice to eat on the train home the next day and ate the buns at night. They were delicious and so was the cake slice. It was so beautiful to look at it it was a shame to cut into it. It was so light and did not take us long to demolish. The cream filling was not a bit sickly at all. I wish I lived nearby. Would have one every weekend. We had the strawberry one.

The worse one ever. I had ordered birthday cakes from here twice. And both time it was wrong designed with the picture that I ordered, and they didn't even say sorry probably, just gave me a reason that the baker not here so they couldn't do anything now . Are you kidding me ?? They said they will give me some candle to sorry for that. The staffs were so rude as well. Seriously. And it not even cheap. They are so unprofessional and irresponsible. Omg. Anw this store is the worse. I will nerver ever come back here.

Update: such a ripoff. Check what they’re charging you. 2 stars as the bakery is beautiful and has good selection eventhou being small. But the workers aren’t nice or helpful, most of the items seem overpriced when you check around Chinatown. There’s supermarkets here which sell the same things way cheaper. The cakes look pretty but are also expensive. This was the first place we visited in China town and late realised that there’s way cheaper shops.

Bought rice balls for my son who is allergic to peanuts. It was not listed on the ingredients that they contain peanuts. He only found out when he has already eaten two rice balls and found the peanuts embedded in them. He has to take antihistamine and the epipen on standby. Very dangerous for people with allergies like my son as ingredients listed on the rice balls are wrong. It should highlight they contain nuts!!! Very disappointed.

Great shop selling a variety of Chinese and other Asian sweets, as well as a variety of food and items (including a lovely selection of bowls) However the shop is a little cramped and quickly gets claustrophobic when busy - I'd recommend visiting at quieter times. My favourite purchases include their mooncakes, mochi, and a super cute rabbit bun (tasty & filled with custard!)

The only place in Chinatown that sells Kiki noodles. Breads and cakes selections are really nice. The pineapple cakes are great. I have also bought 粽子 from them before and it was moist and the fillings are generous. The staff are all much friendlier than most other places in Chinatown. Very helpful and not rushing customers.

Surprised by the negative reviews below. I've been to this bakery twice and have been very happy with everything---the green tea cake with red bean is so tasty that it has become my standard breakfast. The young sales person there is very polite, helpful and patient with me when I wanted to exchange the cake for another one.

Terrible experience. I’m the only one enter the store and the cashier suddenly chose to come out from the counter follow me around in silence. I stood in front of the aisle of iced drinks and she just walk around me in circles. I don’t feel comfortable buying anything, end up shopping at the Chinatown Bakery.

Bought a black forest cake with strawberry on top. When i got home my excited son took the strawberry only to find out it has molds underneath it. Good thing i was it before he ate it, otherwise he could have been sick this christmas. Very disappointing as for the price i was expecting they'd sell fresh cakes

They are a really good bakery, however I tend to only visit this place specifically during the mooncake festival season. Along with selling generic and H.K branded mooncakes, they also bake their own in house versions. Their in house mooncakes is easily on par quality wise with a very famous H.K brand (WW).

  • Azrina MJ

My sisters just bought a coffee roll cake for £5 from there. THE CAKE WAS MOULDY. We called and the woman on the phone was rude and said we have to come back to get a refund. Coming back would mean £3 bus fare on top of the price of the mouldy cake. Never purchasing from them again, avoid at all costs

  • Peter KCN London

It’s ok, most bakery are packaged in plastic so it’s clean and airy. Does sell out of date drinks that are on sale, not sure if it should. Definitely the go to place for mooncakes during the season as they do the best mooncake deals and selection compared to other Chinese bakery shops in the area.

  • ottis m

It's a large Chinese cake shop (with an Anglo/french name) and they sell all manner of Chinese cakes and pastries. Sweet and savoury. The coconut finger thing was nice, as was the sausage bun. They have loads of different varieties and some quite unusual variations. Worth a visit.

  • Harish Kohli

Really bad quality cakes, and even worse staff. They are all very rude and very unhelpful. The smallest request, such as a carrier bag, seemed liked an enormous chore and stroppy staff. Will never return. Avoid at all costs!! The cakes are extremely awful as well!!!!!! AVOID

  • Heather Kane

My favourite bakery and grocer in Chinatown. Skews a little bit more Malaysian and South East Asian than other stores in the area which is really helpful when you're looking for particular Malaysian biscuits and sweets. Staff are always delightful and helpful also.

  • Looknam Kanchisa

I bought a Matcha birthday’s cake for £25. The quality was excellent we really enjoyed it so we will be return to buy more soon. It was fresh and smooth not too sweet just perfect! We are really satisfied with Wonderful Patisserie! Thank you! …

This Wonderful Patisserie in Chinatown has various kind of cakes, buns, cookies, dried food like instant noodle, tea, sauce etc. Clean, bright & food items are excessible within reach. Good place to shop for birthday cakes as well.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Daisy Boswell

Great bakery. They sell Kek Lapis! I am over the moon, I usually only eat this when I find it in Singapore. They have a pretty range from cakes to pastries. I've never had any problems, last I checked minimum card spend is £10

  • TheCho

Bought a pack of two char sui buns from Wing Yip in Manchester. These were £5.99 for two bubs. There was less than two dessert spoonfuls of filling inside. What an absolute disgrace and ripoff. Pictures included as proof.

  • Guy Klein

Bought a birthday cake yesterday for my wife (Mango, £25); it's huge and very tasty, not too sweet, but rich and creamy and well indulgent! My first time buying a cake there, probably not the last!

  • Dimples S (부-인)

This place has an assortment of snacks, which are delicious (the ones we purchased so far). Staff are friendly. The cakes are really cute, wouldn't want to eat them though. We will be back!

  • Lord Al-Tayeb

Rude woman, telling my elderly mother to hurry up and she can clearly see she has a cast on and my hands full! Disrespectful woman!!

Visited this shop last week to buy some tarts. Poor ingredients used (Both in quality and quantity). Most cake shops in Chinatown are hexpensive and this one is no different. Pas bon

  • Pigeon Spagett

Come here every time I’m in the area, can recommend for tourists as a good option if you want to experience Chinatown but don’t know where to go. Looking forward to my cocktail bun!

  • Jyk Wong

They used to do a larger selection of pastries. The green tea and taro pastries are nice, as are their char siu baos. This is the only Chinese bakery in Chinatown that do natas

  • Elizaveta Lartsenko

One of the best cakes I've ever tried, not even joking. I got a slice of pandan cake and it tasted soooo good. Though the price could be better cause I wanted more …

  • Gladys Chong

This shop only sells expired snacks cheaply and non-expired snacks at absurd prices. There is no way Hup Seng crackers should sell for £12.99. This shop is a tourist scam!!

  • Ucho Ucho

Bought a few cakes from here, delicious and super soft, with nice cream on top rather than that disgustingly sweet icing that you'll usually find on cakes in England.

  • Charles ekelegbu

Awful awful cake....bought a cheesecake this afternoon. I only had a small slice and i was sick pretty much within 10 minutes, vomiting and upset tummy, awful cramp

  • mouzhen chen

rubbish, How long have you had your cake? The cake is mildewed and sold,I don't want to give a star. My comments just make more people see what the store looks like

  • Andris Lelis

Jackie Harryman, that was not Custard tarts, but EGG tarts, very popular in Hong Kong and in any Chinatown around the world! They are very delicious! I love them!

  • Ben Adelie

A large variety of Chinese baked goods. The quality is good, fresh, and relatively cheap. Try out the lotus and green tea buns or their famous moon cakes.

  • Deema Almutawa

The mini supermarket inside is very expensive compared to other next door supermarkets! Crazy price differences for the same items …

  • Feeble Grind

Very rude and unhelpful staff. Bread doesn't taste fresh and no expiry or best before date. Found a piece of scourer in the bread.

  • Arg dm

Good cakes, nice value for money. Always rather buy cakes here than Tesco or Sainsbury. Fresh and never dissapointed in taste.

  • Kovila

Variety of snack, hello kitty candy with toys, rabbit candy its like a milk candy, hello panda snack is availiable there

  • Stoyan Nedev

The location of the bakery is perfect. Hower the quality of the food is not good enough. It's a cheap bakery …

  • Par Pars

Nice clean bakery/store I really enjoyed their coffee roll and coconut custard bun, store workers friendly too.

  • Albena Karameros

Really nice cheesecake and fresh pastries. Not a long queue even on the weekend and friendly staff.

  • apple kun

A male employee wearing glasses kicked a chair. It is the worst to attack stress on customers.

  • J H

The worst custard tarts I have tasted. Soft, slimey texture and rancid oil flavour. Inedible

  • Yuk Chung

Tried their bakery, it was okay not too bad, but nothing too special. The price is good.
