I don't know frankly how to even start but here goes an experience I had... A few nights ago I was walking around the area after doing some shopping and got hungry. My mom and I started walking around and came across this place because I noticed that aside from baked goods, they also sold regular food like Pizza among other items. I walked in and the cashier, [a white gentleman] was already ringing up a customer [also white] and no one else was inside besides a few folks sitting outside on the tables. Noticing that it was past 9pm, I asked "are you guys closed for the evening?" To which the cashier simply answered " yes". I kept it moving and walked back out to look for another place to eat and ended up at Andrew's Diner about 2 blocks away. After I finished at the diner I had to pass by the same establishment and when I did, I noticed that: 1) not only was the place NOT closed but 2) there were even MORE customers in addition to some still inside as well purchasing food! Coincidentally? Everyone was white. Again, keep in my mind I passed Zeppola's Bakery about little over an hour after having finished eating from a diner nearby and there were customers still at this establishment, so why tell me they were closing??? Confused and curious by this, I went inside and flat out asked the same male cashier "hey do you remember me? I walked in earlier trying to purchase food and you said you were closed!" But he looked at me once and I suppose realizing that it was me (and to avoid a scene which was never my intention), just kept ringing up a customer (again, white) and simply didnt acknowledge me. He kept ignoring me the whole time! I asked him once more why did he say they were closed if clearly more people have continued to go inside to buy food- but he just kept ignoring me. To make matters worse, when I asked him a second time why he refused to sell us food, he started to chuckle right in my face! I never got disrespectful so I was just very confused (and he didn't even try to answer me by the way). I was just shocked overall because we live in such a diverse city like NYC and to experience that type of discriminatory treatment in this day and age was just out of hand. Terrible...just terrible. This establishment doesn't deserve customers. I bet their food is sh!tty too because the only customers that night were tourists. SMH.

As an Italian in New York, I am always on the hunt for authentic flavors from back home. Zeppola Bakery, nestled in the bustling heart of the city, has not just met, but exceeded my expectations, offering a slice of Italy with a unique New York twist. Let's start with breakfast, arguably the most important meal of the day. Zeppola's variety is impressive, catering to both sweet and savory preferences. The star of the show for me was the focaccia with speck and truffle – a harmonious blend of rich flavors that is both filling and irresistibly tasty. This dish alone makes Zeppola a must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional breakfast experience in New York. For those with a sweet tooth, the bakery presents a delightful dilemma. The pan chocolate is exquisite, with just the right balance of pastry and chocolate. However, it's the bomboloni that truly steals the spotlight. These Italian doughnuts are generously filled, striking the perfect balance between sweetness and texture, a testament to the bakery's commitment to quality. The ambiance of Zeppola adds to its charm. The place is immaculately clean, exuding a welcoming warmth. The staff, cheerful and knowledgeable, contributes to the overall delightful experience. It's clear that they take pride in their work, and it shows in every interaction and every bite of their delectable offerings. A notable mention must go to the owner, whose Italian roots are evident not just in the authenticity of the flavors, but also in the high quality of the ingredients used. As a fellow Italian, I appreciate the effort taken to replicate the true essence of Italian pastries and dishes, making Zeppola a slice of home away from home. In conclusion, Zeppola is more than just a bakery. It's a culinary experience that resonates with the soul, especially for those who cherish Italian cuisine. Whether you're craving a hearty, savory breakfast or a sweet treat, Zeppola promises and delivers excellence. Highly recommended!

(UK tourist)We were located in Time square for 3 days and by accident came across this little gem. They do a special sandwich each day and for the $21 it cost, we didn’t feel robbed or ripped off. Easily one of the tastiest (and largest) sandwiches we’ve ever had. We shared it between us and it kept us going all day. Word of warning, they sell out fast at lunchtime. Any Brit reading this, $21 is a fantastic price for what you’re about to experience. If they were located in the UK we’d easily pay the £ equivalent due to its quality and size. Forget your fast food outlets, head here I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. We loved it so much we ate there each lunchtime. Definitely worth a visit, thank you for making the high cost of living in NYC so much more bearable for this grateful tourist.

Disappointing review. I admit I'm an Instagram girlie who live for pretty looking food, but I can never accept when aesthetics overpowers taste. I was completely deceived by the picture-perfect baked goods at Zeppola. The pastries here were AWFUL. I was craving for some sweets to boost my mood but unfortunately left unsatisfied. * Pistachio Cruffin The pastry was very stale and old, not to mention its lack of flakiness. Yes it was fully loaded with pistachio custard, but the texture was extremely sticky and chunky. I didn't enjoy eating it at all and gave up finishing it halfway through. * Apricot Bomboloni Sickly sugary apricot jam. My mouth was overwhelmed with sweetness which made me nauseous. Words can hardly describe how angry I was to fork over pastries that were far below average. ***15% off if you check in on Yelp. Thanks god I found this discount so I felt slightly better lol

Zeppola Bakery is a hidden gem for those seeking a delightful breakfast experience. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee immediately captures your senses, setting the stage for a perfect morning pick-me-up. The quality of the coffee is exceptional, making it a standout feature of this cozy bakery. The focaccia with spinach, eggs, and cheese is an absolute delight. The combination of flavors creates a savory and satisfying breakfast option. The attention to detail in crafting this dish is evident, with each ingredient contributing to a harmonious culinary experience. The bakery's welcoming atmosphere adds to the overall charm, making it a great spot to savor your breakfast or grab a quick coffee to-go. Zeppola Bakery's commitment to quality ingredients and a delightful menu makes it a go-to destination for those who appreciate a delicious start to their day.

It was my second time having Zeppola Bakery. The first time I had custard bomboloni, fried cannoli, Nutella croissant. They were all great and I have been craving for these. I finally went to get them but fried cannoli weren’t available which was disappointing. I wish I know which day they are available. I just got bomboloni and Nutella croissants but when I tried croissants there was no crunchy inside. I wonder if they changed recipes. When I had it last time there were crunchy stuff inside which made me obsessed. Overall, their bomboloni dough has hint of fruity flavor and well moisturized. I like fried connoli dough more since they are little chewy. Custard cream is not too sweet but perfect combination with their bakery. My two favorites were Nutella croissant with crunch inside and fried cannoli. They are must try!! Update: I recently tried regular cannoli. It was very fresh and tasty. The filling was not too sweet and the shell was well baked.

Stopped here randomly while in NYC for the day. They have the most beautiful and full pastries! We also got sandwiches (arugula, prosciutto, burata plus a ham, cheese, pesto) which were absolutely delicious. The bread was fresh and perfectly cronchy. We got cannolis and a chocolate pastry. Had a nice area for seating and eating. Staff was super friendly and I felt it was affordable.

I didn't intend to visit this, but when I walked by Zeppola Bakery after dinner, I couldn't resist the beautiful donuts with their vibrant colors and lovely decorations. This place is one of the finest bakery in New York and at walking distance from Times Square. I didn't want to but still I gave in to the temptation and tried their cream-filled Suprême donuts, one with dark chocolate and the other with white chocolate topping. The burst of sweetness, along with their generous size, was absolutely delightful. It was very fluffy and tasty. I strongly recommend them.

The staple in this hood for best (traditional) Italian (not American Italian) sandwiches. Huh? Yeah, exactly. Sandwiches: 5/5 Quality: 4 Portion to $: 2.5 Service: 3 (nyc indifference, sometimes a lil tude) Destination: no Sandwiches are premade, but it’s still good. That said, tough to pay that price for premade, unless you wanna go to 12 more blocks for the best Italian(not American Italian) sandwiches They’ve raised their prices, again. Quality still good, but are skimpy with meat on sandwiches lately. Quick lunch thing.

While gathering goodies for our return train trip we happened upon this bakery around 8pm, and so glad we did! The pistachio glazed donuts were incredible, not overly sweet and definitely not 'greasy' like the ones you usually see commercially. This is the Real Deal Donut. Staff is also so lovely. One of the gentlemen made a delicious (really personalized) custom coffee for me to take along. We've already bookmarked this place for our next visit. Neat, clean, totally appealing bakery with lots of other options to enjoy.

We went at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon and were thrilled that the bakery wasn't crowded. The prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, and all the baked goods looked outstanding. We got the pistachio zeppola and the nultlla bambolonie. The bambolonie was fluffy and had a nice chew. The zeppola was next level. It was chewy, soft, creamy, not too sweet, and full of flavor. We Loved it! Make sure you try the zeppola!!

Had to pop in for the cube croissant. Wow just wow! This was an experience of Italian goodness. You can have breakfast, lunch, and dessert here. Bomboloni italian donuts, sandwiches, artisinal treats, and Gelato. Don't forget to take a picture using their board. Nutella, pistachio, strawberry. You name it!

Was good could be better. Sat down for a Nutella latte and two cannolis. Cannolis where excellent but my order for Nutella latte never seem to jump from one person to another and they just made me small regular latte that I only noticed after I sat down to enjoy my meal. So customer service is lacking a bit. Also took some fruit tarts to go. They were great my partner’s family enjoyed them. Would I stop by again? Sure just reluctant to order coffee again.

One of the best Italian bakeries I have seen! Staff was super nice. Their donuts are to die for - dough is fluffy, loaded with jam and delicious. If you have a sweet tooth, I definitely recommend! The sandwiches made with the Italian bread that they bake on site looked delicios as well. While you are there you can grab an espresso and freshly squeezed orange juice(juice is a bit pricey, but delicious nonetheless).

  • madi christiansen

Zeppola Bakery has some of the most delicious pastries. I shared the Raspberry Jam Bombolone (doughnut-like pastry), a Mini Cannoli, and a Custard-filled Croissant with my boyfriend. The baked goods were delicious. However, I wish I had gone in the morning when the goods would have been warm and freshly baked. Next time I would like to try the more savory options like the Prosicuito and Arugula Panini.

  • Hsin Yi Wei

We placed an order on TooGoodToGo app from Zeppola Bakery and got a decent bag with reasonable price. The process of picking up went smoothly and the staff was really friendly. The decor is classy, elegant and authentic with cozy ambiance. The pastries were overall decent but not as delicate as expected. There is a great variety of options available and we will definitely plan our next visit to try.

  • Buschauer

I hadn't planned on indulging, but passing Zeppola Bakery proved irresistibly enchanting, despite that I had just finished dinner. The allure of the donuts, with their radiant hues, intricate decorations, and flawless presentation, was simply too much to resist. In a fleeting moment of sweet surrender, I savored one. The explosion of sugar, coupled with its grand size, was perfection.

  • Nestor Diaz

Love the pistachio cube croissant. Hope they make more pistachio croissant rolls cause they're always sold out, and start selling the pistachio spread by itself. They got the best pistachio spread in NYC, much better than viral Lafayette bakery.

The donuts are fantastic and the latte is delicious. We tried the Nutella and caramel donut. The dough was so freaking fluffy it was intense. The donuts were not overly sweet at all. Just perfect. Next time I'll want to try the custard. The latte was decaf with almond milk and coupled with the donuts made for sweet sweet love in our mouths

My girls and I were visiting NYC for a concert and deliciously stumbled upon this exquisite bakery. It was very difficult to decide what to try but we had self control. Ate a few while we were there and happily carried some home to VA. We didn't want to share however my husband did enjoy a sample of everything. We will return soon!

Was visiting New York for the day and felt like I had to have a canole. This place was the closest and my goodness I'm glad it was. The pastry crust was so crispy but not messy or dry, the cream was so sweet and chilled perfectly, and there was chocolate at the tips. It was so good, EXPENSIVE, but good!

Great bakery , huge selection of pastries, coffees and some sandwiches. You can order lunch there During summer they do have gelato But it’s not real Italian if you know how it should taste but for United States market nice The have outside sitting to enjoy your coffee

Very pleased with this small bakery that has ample seating in the back room for guests. We had two of the breakfast specials which were very tasty and plentiful. Staff is friendly but limited space for orders made a line grow quickly. Lots

One of my favourite bakery spots in New York! They had a wide range of fresh creamy doughnuts, pastries and sandwiches plus great coffee. If you prefer to sit down they have a hidden seating area in the back. Overall a great find! …

  • Priyanka

I would give more than 5 stars if I could. This bakery is among the best I've ever tried. The custard bomboloni was a particular favorite, but I wasn't as fond of the lemon mousse tart since I'm not a big fan of lemon flavors in desserts

  • Lorna Watts

I had several cakes on my visit, I was only there for a week so I made the most of it. The custard donut was delicious, I also had a pistachio pastry filled will custard staff were helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend

Too good!! Service was okay, price was on the high end of reasonable ($15 for two treats) but OHMYGOSH. I'm going to be talking about that rolling croissant with pistachio glaze for WEEKS. One of the yummiest things on the street!!!

  • Fureall A

Although I’m wary of going to places close to touristy areas, but this one was surprisingly good!.. we tried the tiramisu, which was pretty yummy and so was the mocha latter and regular latte. The staff was also very friendly.

  • Flitter Fever

Great quality of food, everything delicious. Fresh orange juice, fried eggs, pancakes, fruit... Very nice staff. Only the plastic plates felt like an insult for the good food. Spent over 70 usd for a breakfast for 2.

  • Jill Jones

Popped in for a quick bite for lunch. We got the turkey & cheese and a ham & cheese on foccacia. The ham & cheese was our favorite. Very yummy. Topped things off with a Nutella croissant, so good. try it!!!

  • yassine laourine

Decent experience overall. The margherita and the turkey and cheese sandwich were both great however the cashier was quite unpleasant and the pastries were below average and didn’t stand up to the expectations.
