One of the most important attractions in Cyprus! Well maintained and clean! The place is beautifully lit at night and is an ideal destination for walking and relaxing. The aqueduct was built in 1745 with a donation from the Turkish official Abu Bekir Pasha in order to supply water to the city of Larnaca and the port, mainly from the Tremithos River, but also from other smaller sources, thus solving the serious problem of water shortage. This project was the most important construction of the Ottoman period and an act of public utility unusual for a Turkish official.
This beautiful 18th century aqueduct can be found on the road heading towards Lemesos (Limassol) in the area of Kamares, which takes its name from the distinctive arches (‘kamares’ in Greek). An open-air sight, the aqueduct was built in the Roman style in 1746 by the Turkish governor of Larnaka, Bekir Pasha, who funded it out of his own sources to carry water to Larnaka (Larnaca) from a source about 10 km away. The aqueduct was abandoned in 1939 and its function replaced by modern pipes. There are more than 20 arches still intact, and these are strikingly illuminated at night. A cobbled area with benches and a footpath allow you to enjoy the site of this monument, with the path linking up with Larnaka Salt Lake.

It's quite a way to go from the city centre. I rented a bicycle. I visited in April and it was a very sunny day so it was very hot. If you come in the summer I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble. It was built in the 18th century, so I'm sure there are more ancient and spectacular aqueducts scattered around Europe, dating from Roman times. I mean, the building itself is OK, but if you're in Larnaca for a day like I was, don't feel guilty if you skip visiting this place.
Very pretty bridge. Was completed in 1750 and operation until 1939. You're not allowed to climb on top of the bridge for those that are wondering because it's too tall and too dangerous. Very cool to look at thou and great photo op. There's free street parking next to it too.

Great location for snapping some awesome looking photos. I recommend combing this location with a trip to the salt lake. There is a very scenic footpath behind the aqueduct that connects both locations.

This was a great bit of history to see still standing and on a beautiful sunny February morning we popped over to take a look , only need 20minutes to walk the front and go look at the top of it . Fascinating to think these used to carry water to the city’s. We enjoyed it on a relax day out
We were planning to walk along it, but now it is closed. Beautiful structure, better to read about it in advance, as you won’t find any information about this spot when you arrive at it.

An attractive place for a short visit. You can walk along the aqueduct. Half an hour is enough for you to visit. There are also places where cars or bus can be parked. A stream flows under the aqueduct and there are various birds in it, some even exotic. The place is in the city.
It's a nice place to visit. We rented a bike in town and cycled the salt lake hiking trail, which was verry nice ! We stoppen and bathed our feet in the water. ENjoyed the enourmous reets and walked up and passed under the Aquaduct, where the trail starts.
It is just a historic water bridge with multiple arches. Don't expect an amazing architecture. 20 to 30 minutes is enough to get some pictures.

An amazing Roman acritecture which anyone can visit at any time? I have started from here my nature trail though the salt lake. Is worth visiting as it doesn't take a lot of time to admire a few of the Roman acritecture in Larnaca? Περισσότερα
Located just outside Larnaca city centre off the old road towards Limassol - definitely worth seeing even (or especially) after dark!

Could easily have been a 5 star birding spot. But as on the rest of Cyprus. Garbage everywhere and the whole area looks like a construction site, as everywhere else on Cyprus
We arrived just as the sun was setting. I foolishly though it was Roman, but it's 18th Century.

A bit out of the way from the main sites in the area, easier by car than by bike or walking. Impressive to see in person. Περισσότερα
Great starting point for running on the salt lake path. Has parking. Pet friendly and the path is well maintained in most spots.

Right next to my home , it’s a park and a view in residential areas of Larnaca ( beautiful )

I've read a lot about aqueducts and how they were constructed. Very interesting place if one knows the history.
I found it interesting to see and the kids enjoyed walking over it. Open site with no information found.
