खुला मञ्चको आफ्नै वैशिष्ट्य, आफ्नै इतिहास छ । यो मञ्चको भवन बनेपछि सरकारले यसको पछिल्लो भाग ‘युवा कलाकार समूह’को कार्यालय राख्ने प्रयोजनका लागि निःशुल्क उपलब्ध गराएको थियो । मञ्चको वरिपरि नेपाली कला क्षेत्रका हस्तीहरूको जमघट हुन्थ्यो । पञ्चायत कालीन समयमा यो मञ्च बेलायतको हाइड पार्कको समानान्तर नै त थिएन, तर हाइड पार्कका धेरै फिचरहरूसँग मिल्दोजुल्दो थियो यो मञ्च । यो मञ्चमा विशिष्ट पाहुनाहरूको अभिनन्दन हुन्थ्यो । पञ्चहरूका सभा र भेला हुन्थे । काठमाडौं सहरमा राजनैतिक चेतनाको विस्तारसँगै सुरक्षा समस्या बढेको महसुस ग¥यो राजदरबारले । यही सुरक्षा सन्त्रासका कारण काठमाडौं नगर पञ्चायतले विदेशी अतिथिहरूको नागरिक अभिनन्दन बन्द कोठामा गर्न थालेपछि खुला मञ्चको सरकारी महत्व घट्यो । ती नेपाली भाग्यमानी पुस्ताका थिए, जसले विश्वका साँच्चैका, ‘जमामर्द’ नेताहरूको नागरिक अभिनन्दन खुला मञ्चमा गर्न पाए । खुला मञ्चमा भएको एउटा नागरिक अभिनन्दन थियो चीनका तत्कालीन उप–प्रधानमन्त्री तथा उदार आर्थिक नीतिका प्रवर्तक तेंग श्याओ पिंगको । उनको भाषण तेजस्वी थियो । उनले आफूलाई उदार लोकतन्त्रको पक्षमा खडा गरेका थिए । राजा वीरेन्द्रले २०३६ जेठ १० मा बहुदलीय प्रजातान्त्रिक व्यवस्था र निर्दलीय पञ्चायत व्यवस्थाका बीच जनतालाई कुनै एक व्यवस्था चुन्ने अधिकार दिंदै जनमत संग्रहको घोषणा गरेपछि बीपी कोइरालाले नेपाली जनतालाई खुला मञ्चबाटै सम्बोधन गर्नुभएको थियो । जेलजीवन, निर्वासन र फेरि जेल जीवनपछि बीपीले सार्वजनिक भाषण गर्नु भएको पहिलो अवसर थियो त्यो । उहाँले आफ्नो भाषणमा जनतासमक्ष नेपाली कांग्रेसलाई ‘उत्तराधिकारी’ सरकारका रूपमा प्रस्तुत गर्नु भएको थियो । बीपीको भाषणलाई त्यतिबेला धेरैले मन पराएका थिएनन । बीपीले जनमत संग्रहलाई बिनापूर्व सर्त मान्नुभएको थियो । खासगरेर, उग्रवादी राजनीतिका हर्ताकर्ताहरू उहाँ राजतन्त्रप्रति धेरै नरम हुनुभएको भनेर कुरा काट्न थालेका थिए । बीपीलाई यो आलोचनाले छोएन । उहाँबाट कुनै प्रतिक्रिया आएन । त्यस दिन बीपीसँगै खुला मञ्चमा भाषण गर्ने गणेशमान सिंह र कृष्णप्रसाद भट्टराईले राजतन्त्रको कटु आलोचना गर्दै जनमत संग्रहका लागि पूर्वसर्तहरू राख्नुभएको थियो ।

The Park was built at the investment of Rs 20 million of Kathmandu Metropolis and Rs 40 million of Madhyapur Thimi municipality under the Town-Town Collaboration Programme. On the occasion of Shankhadhar Day, Kathmandu metropolis mayor Bidya Sundhar Shakya inaugurated the park amidst a programme on Sunday. He shared the metropolis has been providing support to 12 municipalities of the Valley for the construction of religious and tourism parks as well as the multi-purpose parks. 'Kathmandu metropolis is the oldest and the most resourceful cultural town. It also has the obligation to help adjoining municipalities in their bid to construct public places. Construction of Sankhadhar Park was a manifestation of town-town collaboration', mayor Shakya added. Also speaking on the occasion, Madhyapurthimi municipality Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said, 'We had approved a master plan with a total budget of Rs 130 million for the park construction'. The first phase of its construction has been finalized and remaining portion has been planned for the next tenure, Shrestha said, expressing his confidence that the KIMC would extend further financial support in the upcoming year to complete the backlog of construction works. The park stretched over the area of 13 ropani has water fountain, stone-carved step, hanging garden, stone spout, MP theatre and green garden. According to the master plan, Green Park, children park, traditional hall, statue of Shankhadhar Sakhwa, big conge, rock climbing and rope climbing spots are to be constructed in remaining five ropanis of land. At the programme, Kathmandu metropolis Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha said the metropolitan city has emphatically collaborated for the preservation of culture and heritage.

नेपालीको शानको रुपमा रहेको एतिहासिक स्थल रत्नपार्क देशकै शानको रुपमा रहेको छ वास्तवमा भन्ने हो भने रत्नपार्क सबैले आराम गर्ने स्थलको रुपमा रहदै आएको छ रत्नपार्क शान्त हरियाली र फुल बगैंचाले सजिएको छ । पार्क संचालनलाई व्यवस्थित बनाउन टिकटको व्यवस्था गरिएको छ भने महानगरले १९ जना कर्मचारी खटाएको छ । रत्नपार्कको निर्माण कार्य बि.स २०१८ सालमा तत्कालीन महारानी रत्नराज्य लक्ष्मीदेवी शाहको ईच्छा अनुसार सुरु गरिएको हो । यसको निर्माण सम्पन्न भने २०२१ सालमा भएको थियो । पछि २०५८ साल जेठ ५ गते रत्नपार्क महानगरको मातहतमा आएपछि २०६३ साल कार्तिक १ गते देखि महानगरकै वातावरण विभागले यसको संचालन तथा समबद्र्धनको जिम्मेवारी निर्वाह गर्दे आएको छ ।

It was earlier known as Ratna Park. It was named after then queen Ratna Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah. And it was built by then king Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah. This park is situated in the middle of the city and it has a variety of flowers from all seasons which brings people closer to nature. There are plenty of benches to take a rest on when someone is tired from observing the park. This park is connected to almost every location of the city via bus, taxi and micro bus. There is a nominal fee for the tickets to enter the park. It is a very nice and beautifully decorated park.

Ratna Park is one of the oldest park in Kathmandu यसलाई राजा महेंद्रकी पत्नी रानी रत्नको नाममा राखिएको छ। यो बच्चाहरूको लागि निर्माण गरिएको हो र रत्नको नामबाट राखिएको छ, राजा महेन्द्रकी दोस्रो रानी। यो काठमाडौंको मध्य भागमा रानी पोखरी र तूडिखेलको बीचमा अवस्थित छ। अनि छुट्टीको दिन हो र धेरै मानिसहरू श्रम दिवस मनाउन वरपर जम्मा भएका थिए, हामीले पार्कमा पनि धेरै मानिसहरू भेट्यौं। नि: शुल्क प्रवेशका लागि हाम्रा आशाहरूको विपरीत, पार्कमा टिकट लिन हामीले २ Rs रुपैयाँ तिर्नु पर्छ। DSLR लिनाले मानिसहरूलाई डराउँदछ, सबै तस्वीरहरू एक स्मार्टफोन द्वारा लिएको छ।

Well maintained and nice place to take a break from all the hussle and bustle of the ratna park area. Although I have no complaint regarding the place, I would suggest the management board of this park to get and provide a locker service for the visitors which inturn would retain dwellers to spend more time thereby utilizing the motive of this park fully. Plus putting more charging points around the benches might be helpful too. A big thank you for such a good maintenance to the employees and management board/committee

Best place to take a rest after travelling in a busy and noisy ratnapark area. There are beautiful gardens with flowers, benches , waterfalls, swings and trees . You can have a dating or spend some time there with your loved one and relatives. You have to buy tickets, a bottle of water to stay out of thrust and some breakfast also. I have been there with my loved one around 6 years ago and have really good memories with this park. I miss you my love

However, the park itself is clean and well-kept. There are no issues within the park. This is a fantastic palace for mind relaxation. Peaceful surroundings, natural beauty, open space, and tastefully decorated. I adore this location.

Suitable for refreshments after busy hours. Surrounded by plants and flowers but the management and maintenance is too poor. Water in the pond is dirty and Open place is not properly managed. The park is overcrowded and seems like picnic spots.

I don't no why r they charging 25 rupees as entry fee. Nothing interesting inside the park. Mostly tired people visit to rest or young couples to spend time. Maintenance is not upto expectation but remains over crowded most of the times.
