It is an absolutely disgusting and inhumane institution. Pros: nice colonial building (figure out what resources it was built with) Cons: misinformation at every possible step, which led to a long-term work visa being rejected by Portugal authorities, a lot of time and money wasted (4 months of Portuguese long-term house rent and 2 months of security deposit; figure out an approximate loss given the current Portuguese property market). All that could’ve been prevented if they were honest and professional in the first place. - You give a bunch of documentation to them (~100 pages); they send only 50 pages tops (??? reason unknown) which they choose at their whim without your or your lawyers involved. Who knows which of them reached the officials? - Lies upon lies in order to not do any work. The most iconic was, during the personal meeting, them saying “If you would’ve just sent us those documents to review beforehand (...we’d told you that you’re missing this and that document)” . I DID send it and communicated clearly that they need a review. You just ignore your emails and they put the blame on the applicant. - Required to take your spouse for your visa appointment where you are the main applicant? Leave her at the gates and go alone to ask the staff to let her in. This is just humiliating. - From an earlier visit: want to get out? Wait 5 minutes in a locked coffin-like metal crate until the security guard finishes whatever they’re doing to let you out. Hello claustrophobic people. - Want to get a phone consultation with the visa department? Maybe you’ll be able to get through the busy line after trying for several days, at which point the gentleman who’s working with visas tells you “You know I’m very busy right now, I have a visit soon” not listening to your concern / suddenly and conveniently forgetting English. I was astonished when that happened! I didn’t even take 2 minutes of your precious time. Humiliating, revolting experience that left me wanting to vomit. And compare their map rating with the now-hated-by-everyone-Russian consulate. It is even lower than the claustrophobic and crowded Russian office. With Portuguese consulate has many of their 5-stars from tourists leaving them for “a beautiful building”. I'm not going to deal with Portuguese authorities anymore, unless I really have to; that's quite enough.
Mr. Narong has ruined my travel plans for 3+ months now by being incompetent, rude, and a generally unpleasant person to interact with for any reason. We’ve now applied for a second Schengen visa, traveling with an EU family member who is sponsoring the trip. 1st application denied for financials since none were in my name, but provided all of the EU family memeber’s financial statements who was also accompanying on the trip and had their info in the bookings. Fair enough. Applied a second time with my own financial information, new hotel booking, insurance, flights etc. After 6 weeks there was no update on the application. I called and emailed for a week with no response. I eventually was connected through to their visa department where I spoke to Narong. I told him I would need the passport back since I must renew my visa in Thailand now since they have been doing a tourist application for 1.5months now with no progress or update, and my Thai visa was nearing expiration. He told me it would be sent back to their visa agency TLS whom one must use when doing visas for the Portugese embassy in Bangkok. The next day by 3:00pm the visa agency had not received anything. I called the embassy they said it had been sent. After another hour of no one knowing where the passport was, the embassy said they *may* have sent the passport. It turns out Narong never sent it. After being connected to him I asked when he would send it and why it didn’t go out today. He disconnected the call partway through but not before He proceeded to scream at me on the phone saying “I never promised you anything” when he clearly had told me the day before it would be ready for pickup at the visa agency center the following day. A terrible impression of Portugal and it’s disgusting this goes on with nowhere to be heard or received fair treatment from. This embassy is located in the land of smile but is it the total antitheses of that.
à senhora que me atendeu e a um dos directores que também veio cumprimentar e ajudar em todo o processo. muitos Parabéns obrigado Eduardo Fortunato Almeida jr everything would be easier if in Portugal they "treated" us like in the embassy of Portugal in Bangkok (Thailand) Exemplary treatment, everything worked very well. from the security guard at the embassy door (Polite and smiling) I have lived outside Portugal for decades (Australia, Indonesia and vice versa) I went to renew my passport because it had expired (despite having another passport from another country) I contacted the embassy via email, they replied in less than 12 hours, they explained everything to me, short and concise, and I booked my trip to the embassy by email. I was received in such a cordial, friendly and professional manner that I was impressed by the Trato. thanks for the professionalism. to the lady who assisted me and to one of the directors who also came to greet and help throughout the process. congratulations thank you Eduardo Fortunato Almeida jr
Very robotic and almost no human interactions over email. Being in Vietnam or Malaysia you will have yo work with them in Thailand through email and they are very lazy, they have 4 automated replies and you will not get any other answer. - Application form reply - Address and fee reply - Acceptance reply - Rejection reply They will never explain the papers needed to be send, or what is missing or help in any humane way, ZERO empathy! They hire people that make money for literally not doing their job whatsoever. Such a shame that a beautiful country like Portugal is being represented abroad with such lazy and horrible mindset. They also never open files you sent nor read the application, my wife got 2nd rejection even though we didn't appeal her paper and we requested to cancel her application, but they didn't even read the appeal file, they also never give you update, I had to add the ambassador's email in the thread so they would remember to send me a rejection after 120 days. I also have email tracking, they ask for the application in pdf but they don't even click it or open it. Just 100% robots getting salaries for sitting on a chair and clicking a button or 2 per day. I really hope they consider improving the services and hiring people that actually going to work and able to represent Portugal in a nice way.
Ms Rita deserves the highest commendation for her prompt and attentive service rendered on April 20. She's made my first visit to the embassy an unexpectedly pleasant one. Not only is she patient, knowledgeable, approachable and helpful, she makes the embassy proud for being modest and professional. Please convey my sincere thanks and congratulations to her. Your embassy premise is very welcoming, elegant, secure and beautiful. I was horrified to read all the previous bad reviews on google reviews before going to the embassy and was surprised to leave there with a positive experience so I am hopeful that Ms Rita will be a role model for her peers! Will visit again soon to another department and I am praying hard that my next experience will be just as good, if not better!
Completely useless. I started my marriage process in Vietnam 9 months ago and I'm still stuck to it. I started the procedure with a Portuguese staff that suddenly stopped replying my emails. I send an email to the addresses listed on the website and guess what? Zero replies, until 1 month later (!!!) when I got an answer from a Thai staff that prompted herself to help me. It's now been 8 months, and I still haven't done this, because every time I send an email, I get a reply 1 month later and only after I insist. I had to postpone my wedding date for 3 times already. No one pick up the phone either, which makes all this complete useless and pointless.
The application is not complicated if your documents are completed. Experienced some help service but be reminded to spare your time for visa application as it's possible to receive visa in last minutes or take longer process than their informed duration. Average frequency of replying email is about a week. If it takes longer then you should follow up by calling again. And there is no guarantee if your call will be picked up especially when they are in busy moment.
Seems its a great service. I have attended my appointment on last 12th September for my visa application. Literally i have forgotten the name it was Mr Narong Vipatapan or Ms Rita who was attending me for my application. Approach me friendly and asked for documents politely. The embassy location absulately in great place. At this point im still waiting for reply from Them. Let's see I hope will get a positive outcome from honorable consulate and entire Team.
The excellent service I received during my recent visit to your embassy. K.Suphitsara were extremely professional, courteous, and helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure that all of my needs were met. Overall, I had a very positive experience with your embassy staff and would highly recommend your services to anyone in need. Thank you for your commitment to providing exceptional service and for making my visit a pleasant and memorable one.
Since there is no Portuguese embassy in Malaysia, I had to fly in to Bangkok. I wrote to them but there was no reply regarding the appointment. At the gate of the embassy , I was told I needed an appointment and I rewrite to them again. I was lucky as I met Mr Marcos who was so friendly and helpful. There were others too, queuing and Mr. Marcos gave his assistance to us. I believe all of us were pleased with his help. Well Done Mr Marcos.,
Check yourself out a Thai man officer there, I bet there's someone else can do the job better than you, if you're not happy for what you do then leave, you're horrible to work with people since your energy is wrong, Portugal embassy should listen to us for what this person ruin the organization reputation, just leave do something else.
Mr Narong deserves commendation for being very professional, super-efficient and patient when handling my student visa application. His modesty and willingness to listen and act with empathy is impressive and I am sure I am not the first to give him this genuine compliment. Congratulations on having him on your team!
Unprofessional service, lengthy-time waiting for documents to be processed, misleading information that goes against what is stated in official decrees of laws, and in other official websites from other Portuguese authorities. By far the most appalling interaction I have ever had with an authority in any country.
Not reachable by phone,is Portugal an EU country or some 3rd world jungle country?Amazing.Makes me wonder if someone has an emergency and can't reach the embassy.Ambassador and embassy like that, is useless. Complaints via website impossible to send, because captcha not reachable.
If you want a Schengen Visa go to any other Embassy. There are some unhelpful staff here who will cheat you out of money, insist on unnecessary translations and then refuse to give you back your original documents. Worst Embassy experience ever, a complete disgrace.
We had an amazing experience with the Embassy of Portugal in Bangkok. We applied for residency visa and were approved. We came very well prepared with all necessary documents for the application. Mr. Narong and other officers always …
Do an interview /appointment is recommended... By email.. Could be busy some days... Go with time, if want solve your issues.. Limited staff... Beautiful place, nice location ..
Soi Charoen Krung 30 also named Captain Bush Lane. It housed European community in 19-20 century. The Portuguese embassy here was first established in 19 century.
Situated in a great zone in Bangkok. It is a century-old mansion, modern inside. The staff (Thai and Portuguese) are very friendly, competent and professional.
Number 1 wrost embassy in the world. All uneducated people. Narong, Marcos all illiterate staff working. How this guys representing on behalf of Portugal. Omg
I feel very impressed with the warm welcome of the Ambassador and his staffs. The colonial-style building of the embassy and it's surroundings are beautiful.
Some time it take a Lot of time for them to reply though some of the stuff like Ms Rita and Mr Narong are kind , very helpful and reponse very fast.
After 3 emails and 3 phones calls, in 2 different days, I still couldn’t reach anyone from the embassy or get an answer to my emails.
They are a helpful bunch. Every time I have been there I have been warmly received and received the help that I have desired.
Look from the the outside is like a old building but the inside is really beautiful design. Building wall is use glass.
Staff very rude on phone call, they don't have service-mind to talk to people, do they? Shame on you!!!!
Staff friendly and fairly good except for the security at the entrance which is rude and uncooperative.
Very good consular service: friendly and professional. I wish all embassies would be like this one :)
