I recently had the opportunity to travel through Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD), and I must say it was an impressive experience from start to finish. The airport's facilities, services, and overall ambiance made my journey through ADD smooth and enjoyable. Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is a well-designed and modern airport. The terminal is spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing a pleasant environment for travelers. The airport's architecture reflects the rich cultural heritage of Ethiopia, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. The check-in process at ADD was efficient and well-organized. The airport provides multiple check-in counters and helpful staff members who assist passengers throughout the process. I was pleasantly surprised by the short waiting times and the overall ease of the check-in process. Addis Ababa Airport offers a good variety of dining and shopping options. The selection of restaurants and cafes catered to different tastes, offering a range of local and international cuisines. The retail outlets provided a diverse array of products, including traditional handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs, allowing me to explore and indulge in the vibrant Ethiopian culture. The airport's cleanliness and hygiene were commendable. The facilities, including the washrooms, were well-maintained and kept clean at all times. The airport staff worked diligently to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for passengers, which I greatly appreciated. The staff at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport were friendly, helpful, and professional. From the security personnel to the customer service representatives, everyone I encountered provided excellent service and assistance. Their warm hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile added to the overall positive experience at ADD. Connectivity and amenities at the airport were convenient. Free Wi-Fi was available throughout the terminal, allowing me to stay connected and access important information during my time at the airport. The availability of charging points for electronic devices was also a thoughtful addition, ensuring that passengers could keep their devices powered up. Transportation options to and from Addis Ababa Airport were readily available. Taxis, car rentals, and public transportation were easily accessible, making it convenient to reach the city center or other destinations. Overall, my experience at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport was impressive. The airport's modern facilities, efficient services, friendly staff, and cultural ambiance made it a memorable part of my journey. I highly recommend this airport to anyone traveling through Addis Ababa, and I look forward to returning on my next visit to Ethiopia. Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is the main airport of Ethiopia and the hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national flag carrier. The airport is located in the Bole district, about 6 km from the city center and 65 km from Bishoftu, a popular resort town. The airport has two terminals, Terminal 1 for domestic and regional flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. The airport also has two parallel runways that can accommodate large aircrafts such as Boeing 747 and Airbus A340. The airport was opened in 1962, replacing the old Lideta Airport that was too small for jet planes. The airport was originally named after Haile Selassie I, the former emperor of Ethiopia. The airport underwent several expansions and renovations over the years, with the latest one being completed in 2019. The new terminal expansion increased the passenger capacity to 22 million per year and added new facilities such as lounges, shops, restaurants, and a hotel. The airport is well-connected to the city by taxis, buses, and a light rail system. The airport also offers various services to passengers such as free Wi-Fi, baggage storage, currency exchange, ATM, medical center, and visa on arrival. The airport is known for its high security standards and its efficient baggage handling system. The airport also hosts the Ethiopian Aviation Academy, which trains pilots, cabin crew, technicians, and other aviation professionals. The airport is a gateway to Ethiopia and Africa, with flights to over 120 destinations worldwide. The airport is especially popular among travelers who want to explore the rich culture, history, and nature of Ethiopia. The airport also serves as a transit point for many passengers who fly with Ethiopian Airlines to other continents. The airport has won several awards and recognitions for its service quality and customer satisfaction. Overall, Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is a modern, spacious, and convenient airport that offers a pleasant travel experience to its visitors. The airport reflects the growth and development of Ethiopia as a nation and a regional leader. The airport is a proud symbol of Ethiopian hospitality and excellence.

I got into Bole International Airport to connect my next flight the following morning. This meant the airline would provide a hotel for the night. I was mistaken, it wasn't for the night. It was only for about 3 hours. I spend about one and half hours to get to immigration after arriving at about 9pm. By the time I got through another set of security checks with some asking me if I was not having more than $10,000 and also waiting in the cold for the hotel shuttle, it was already close to midnight. By the time I got into my the new Skylight hotel to join another long queue for another hour, it was already 1am but my next airport pickup time was 5:30am. So you can do the mathematics. What time would I take a quick shower and finally drift into sleep in my anger. It is however worth mentioning that the hotel is world class and equipped like any 5 star hotel. It would be great to spend some time at the skylight on holidays and not in transit. Don't leave the Bole airport without some coffee if you love good coffee.

It's a super crowded and chaotic airport!! I have been to Bole International Airport on three occasions, and each time, it seems to become worse. Yes, the building had so much potential when it was built, yet, the opportunity to make it one of Africa's great airports has been lost. Today, 23 April 2023, I transited through Bole on my way to Cape Town. Going through Security, even though I was "fast tracked" was exasperating, as I even had to procure my own trays to put on the conveyor belt, and the wait was long. The airport is beginning to look tired and uncared for. Facilities are beginning to show their age. The shops are few and uninteresting, and the restaurants seem average. The goods are so overpriced at the shops. The flight information boards were inaccurate. My gate was A12, yet the board said C3 and "final call," but it hadn't even begun to board. This is Ethiopian Airlines' main hub. Flights are always late.

Bole International Airport, situated in the heart of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, epitomizes the quintessential African hospitality. Reverberating with a warm welcome and courtesy that is truly African, the staff ensures a seamless visitor experience devoid of unnecessary delays. The provision of free WiFi adds a touch of modern amenity, generously lending a feel of home even in transit. This airport is a testament to Ethiopia's commitment to the hospitality industry marked by efficiency and comfort. In essence, Bole International airport is not just an entry point to the country but a brilliant precursor of the ensuing enjoyable Sojourn. It indeed is a gateway worth saluting.

It's international Addis Ababa ethiopia Airport its one of the largest airports in Africa. It is located in the Bishoftu outs side of Addis. It's a safe arrival every day. million ppl are arriving, but the airline has poor management of ur baggage. It's always missing if ur transit with ethiopia Airlines. So if ur in transit from this airport, it's better to take photos of ur baggage around. otherwise, if damage, they do not take responsibility. Its largest airports, so u have to walk more to the gate. Also, food courts are expensive if u don't have local currency. If I used USD some time, if u have a long layover, then u may not find space for rest chair

One of the busiest and modern airport in Africa and comparatively systematic. But experienced following problems during my transit journeys of few times, 1) Non Availability of drinking water kiosks suggestion to keep a water bottle 2) Very few trash bins , you have to search to get one 4) There is only one lounge available. 5) Very limited food and beverage stall considering the volume of passengers and expensive also. 6) Toilets are not clean most of the time. Otherwise enjoyed the ambience and warmth of Eddis Ababa and Ethiopia. Thanks

Bole Addis Ababa Airport in Ethiopia is indeed a vast and well-organized facility. During my 4-hour layover, I found the airport to be efficiently structured. Despite the pricey airport food, I managed to enjoy a decent meal. The seating was surprisingly comfortable, and there were charging spots conveniently placed throughout. Additionally, they offer options for more luxurious waiting experiences like the Gold and Silver rooms. Like any other airport, there were frequent boarding announcements to ensure passengers don't miss their flights.

VERY BIG aéroport located within Addis. Please don’t be shy to ask, you can get lost very easy. Easy to find Ethiopian staff to ask question/support. Visa arrival + airport verification(police) is very slow. You can change money and/or buy local SIM card very easily before to go out. Be careful with the driver inside they love to charge expensive, you can bargain. If you are leaving, LOT OF DUTY FREE SHOPS.

Very crowded. The international transfer and security is chaotic and a bit scary. Limited aircon on ventilation in terminal, everything stinks. The entire airport looks like a 1979s Eastern European shopping mall. Not an ideal place for connection especially not if you are on business trip.

  • Vikram Kulkarni

To be honest too much crowded but they manage everything on time and Ethiopian Airlines is just awasome biz class and economy class really gud food drink and service is just amazing. The crew are extremely helpful and down to earth to make your flight experience really best.

One of the best airports in Africa. A bit crowded, but plenty of shops and food options abound. Staff was exceptionally friendly and exhibited standard Ethiopian hospitality. Free wifi throughout terminal worked well.

An OK airport, as you can see they are upgrading their facilitues. Need better smoking area/lounge as the current one is very crowded. Overall is OK. Hopefully next time i pass by again, it should be better.
