The Grand Soluxe is what I learned is a upscale Chinese hotel (compared to a Western style hotel). The room I stayed in was amazing. Huge room with a king bed, lounge chair, desk, closet, and a bathroom. The bathroom featured a deep tub that had a window that looked into the bedroom, a separate shower, music, and many toiletries. There is a shade if you want privacy from the window that overlooks the bedroom. The room has a hot water kettle and comes with 2 bottles of water per day (no charge). Tea is available, but no coffee. Breakfast buffet was a mix of Chinese and some Western dishes. They had everything from cereal, breads, juice, milk, soy milk, Chinese food, dumplings, soup. waffles, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, ice cream, salad, coffee, tea, etc. Breakfast is about 50 RMB per day. Service was nice. The business center was unavailable. Meeting rooms and store was vacant. Chinese restaurant was an empty room with a handful of tables. The western restaurant was similar. The lobby lounge was only open part of the day. Not really a lounge, but it featured many lounge chairs. When you enter they had a table with packaged breads and cans of soda, with a price list. No one was monitoring the "lounge". The hotel has some restaurants and cafes nearby. Its located near the city wall. I took Didi to get around most places. If you just need a nice room to stay in and don't care about the rest of the hotel amenity this hotel is for you. If you came expecting more, then look elsewhere.

The room and toilet were spacious. The bed was comfortable. It is within walking distance from the airport bus terminal. The public buses outside the hotel travel to most of the tourist attractions within Xi'an city. The public bus at the Train Station can go directly to the Terracotta Army Museum. However, the central air-conditioner was blowing only natural air, confirmed by hotel staff. So, there were 2 days (16-17 Apr) whereby the outside temperature went up to 29°C and the room was unbearably warm until I was sweating inside the room. It was extremely uncomfortable! Even the corridor was cooler than the room! Although I made a complaint to the hotel, they said the sudden high temperature was unexpected and they couldn't do anything. It was very disappointing to get this kind of answer from an established hotel. The hotel wifi was also unacceptable as I couldn't connect to the wifi throughout my 7-day stay.

Hotel was big and impressive but probably some time ago. The staff didn’t speak English so couldn’t communicate well, WiFi never worked and people were smoking inside- even at the breakfast buffet!

Great hotel. Clean, tidy and great facilities. Very helpful staff. Close to the train station, the City Wall and subway.
