We love supporting Asian-owned businesses, but our experience at 017 Shop was bizarrely degrading and disgusting. We weren't greeted at all when we walked in, instead, the person behind the counter with the shaved head (perhaps owner Clayton Chan?), who was maskless the entire time we were in the store despite the public indoor mask mandate, motioned for his employee, a tall-ish man with glasses, to follow us around. Although the initial tone 017 Shop set was already hostile, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and thought maybe the employee was just trying to help. Man, were we wrong. Said employee proceeded to quite literally follow every single step we took and every single move we made in the store like a motion sensor CCTV, and he was dead silent the entire time. We've never, ever had a "customer service" experience as bizarre as this. His literal... stalking of us was so obvious and weird that my boyfriend, who's not usually very observant, eventually asked me "does he think we're stealing?" It most certainly looked that way. Then it got worse :D A ceramic piece in shape of a LV Speedy in the display case in the back caught my attention, so I asked Mr. Motion Sensor CCTV who this piece was by, since it certainly was not produced by Louis Vuitton. He looked at me, rolled his eyes (?), scoffed (??), and said, "um, LV is a world-wide brand." (???) Although I'm not sure what could have possibly led him into believing that I'm not familiar with Louis Vuitton, he also quite literally did not answer my question. So on top of being presumptuously degrading, rude, and unhelpful, he also could not comprehend simple questions. We said "thank you" as we left 017 Shop since we believe in being courteous to people even when they don't deserve it, and heard nothing back from Maskless nor CCTV. Disappointed, but not surprised.
I have shopped online with 017 several times before and I finally managed to go to the actual retail shop today. It was definitely one of the worst experiences I have ever had shopping in an actual shop. When we first entered into the shop, we were not greeted by the two salesman in the shop. There were no customers in the shop besides the two people seemingly working there. Instead, one of the two salesman in the shop stood up immediately and followed us around the shop like a hawk. Not only did he follow us around, he also constantly watched our every movement and what items we picked up to look at. He probably only looked away for few seconds on his phone during our entire time at the shop. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling being profiled, especially not by a shop that you used to support. Needless to say, they have lost me as a customer from now on with the way that they operate their business and how they treat perspective customers. To whoever is in charge of the business, please be advised that customer service is particularly vital to the success of a retail shop and good luck to anyone that is attempting to make a trip to the store.
I ordered from 017 Shop online. I had done so before and had good experiences. Their web site said that prices are listed in Canadian Dollars, and That has been my experience. This time, they billed me in US Dollars, a ~23% markup, $133, over the expected price! I wrote to 017 and asked what might have happened. Their messages to me were stiff. I was never even given a name of who I was speaking with which is awkward when the message says “call me.” They didn’t really want to take responsibility for their mistake, they blamed their card processor, my bank, and when they finally recognized their error, they wanted me to lose money on the return rather than just give me the sweater at the advertised price. Most of their cloths can be found from other vendors, so in the future, I will work with shops that are more honest and ethical.
Took discourteous to a whole new level. "Sales"person (note the thinly veiled sarcasm here) follows customers around like a hawk with the vibe of a prisonguard. If this is how you treat well-dressed customers who look and behave like they can buy a rack of your clothing, imagine how untrusting you are of the general populace. Abysmally depressing experience, even 12 seconds was painful.
I went in to 017 shop and was not greeted at all, but stared at. I was then asked if I am friends with the only other Brown employee in the store. I was not. They then told me it's by appointment only and kicked me out. Covert racism in the works! A very unpleasant and disappointing experience.
If you are on the hunt for some one of a kind urban streetwear pieces this is the place to go. They carry collections for both men and ladies. Elevate your wardrobe with the trendiest styles bags shoes and jewelry coming from Asia and beyond. It is definitely worth checking them out.
Just finished shopping through the brick and mortar store after years of ordering online. The experience was worth the trip. The staff was accommodating and welcoming , really cool environment in there as well. Will definitely be coming back more often in person!
This shop is completely incompetent towards how they market, display & promote their Clothing products!! The staff has no real customer service skills, unknowable staff (including Clayton chan). Probably will never purchase clothing items from this store again
Once again the team at 017shop showed warmth and a positive can-do attitude. I ordered a sweater from them yesterday... and I received it across the country in Montréal in less than 24 hours. Thank 017shop...sweater is fantastic too :) Kind regards, Joe
Dope little shop, clean and understated vibe. Really unique and curated selection of exclusive styles not available elsewhere in town. The owner is super chill and more than happy to talk gear with you. Nice addition to the Downtown scene.
Used a promo code for 25% off anything. Chose pickup option. Pickup was plain and simple. Store looks phenomenal. They also had my clothing wrapped which is a great bonus. Absolutely worth going to if you are looking for a new style.
Always have had great experiences with the shop! Super accommodating and friendly when communicating through email. Also appreciate that they offer Sezzle for payment options.
Super sweet store with an awesome collection plus great editorials on their blog. All the staff is really chill and pretty knowledgeable about fashion in general
Really cool store! Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable about the product, I’ll be sure to go back when I’m in the area
I went in to buy a bracelet for my little sister and the staff member was helpful and patient with me while showing options.
This shop was amazing! So much great product and the customer service was incredible. So kind and welcoming environment
Located in the states but great online experience and customer service! Would love to shop again and stop by the store.
