I used to visit this place quite often. But a brand should not just be carried by how great the product is and how well it is advertized, it also should be carried by its customer service. One time I came in and a customer had ordered many pieces and has held the line up. I did not mind this, although there were 3 other staff that did not jump at the opportunity to recognize there was a line and it has been 15 minutes, and the only action and recognition I received was the awkward look. These people had stepped up their disrespect and rudeness when one of them rolled their eyes on me. When finally after 20 minutes one of them finally provided service, when the transaction was complete, that employee just left without saying thank you. This store should not even get a star from me. Very rude, very disrespectful, and no manners. They made me feel very disgusting.

If you are the type of person that needs coffee and a muffin in the morning to get your day going, then 85C is probably your best bet. The coffee is decent (by which I would say Starbucks quality or better depending on the day) and the baked goods are inexpensive and delicious. In fact, if you wanted to just grab a baked good in the morning, I would recommend that because you can get 2 items here for the price of anything at Starbucks or Coffee Bean easily. My only complaint would be that sometimes the line gets backed-up due to the espresso machine. Listen, this isn't exactly a coffee shop, so if you want a morning latte I'd recommend going somewhere else to save some time. Not that they can't make the latte, it just takes forever and hold everything up.

There's nothing better than starting your day with a delicious cup of coffee and a freshly baked pastry from your favorite coffee shop. The coffee shop is always bustling with energy, and the smell of coffee and pastries fills the air. The coffee is rich and flavorful, and the pastries are flaky and moist. The drinks are also incredibly refreshing, and there's always a new flavor to try. Whether you're stopping in for a quick coffee or spending the afternoon chatting with friends, the coffee shop is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some delicious food and drink.

The place is well organized .It goes like this : enter get a tongue and a tray + a tray cover. Pick up your desired goodies then proceed to the cashiers who pack your order. What seems to be lacking in the bakery is a smile and some compassion for the average Joe. I had some puff creme muffins and the price was affordable. However there seems to be some pastries that are a bit high. The clientele to me seem to be upper middle Class and yuppies. I might go back but I'd like to see more smiles when I do go back.

Update Nov 9 2022: This location has improved substantially since this review was posted. Service is as good as ever and faster and there are more pastries. - old review: This 85°C location seems to be perpetually short staffed. The service is courteous and good nonetheless, but other areas suffer: signage is often wrong, it may get slow at times, and the pastry quality is not as great as other locations. The staff does wonders with the resources they have, but the experience is objectively not the best.

I love this bakery chain. My favorite picks are the brioche bread, garlic bread and anything with chocolate chips. They also have a variety of teas drinks, like sea salt jasmine green tea, to wash down these delicious pastries. This location is conveniently located on the street corner and walking distance from Los Angeles Central Public Library and Pershing Square. The space is small and cozy with a few counter seats. DTLA just good hooked up with a great affordable Asian bakery. Enjoy!

I've been working in L.A. since 2010, but I have not heard of 85 Degrees, until today, thanks to my friend Judith. I really liked their baked goodies, most especially their Brioche, Chocolate Brioche and Matcha Red Bean. The Chocolate Chip Bowl was also good. I tried the Sea Salt Jasmine Tea and it was great. I will surely be back to get my husband his birthday cake here. The store was clean and the staff was helpful. It surely was a great find in the heart of Downtown L.A.

All I ever get here is the Mango Slush because it is so good! I make a lot of frozen fruit drinks at home and I'm often disappointed when I buy them from restaurants and stands but not from 85, these are the best I've ever had and I've not been able to duplicate them at home. This is a must stop if you are in the area. It is like drinking the best mango I've ever eaten, naturally sweet and refreshing. They make it quickly and freshly and it is not that expensive.

I came here randomly. Got a Jalapeño & cream cheese croissant and also a red velvet slice of cake. Interestingly enough, it's good, especially the red velvet cake, which wasn't over excessively sweet, and I probably could have eaten two of those. Would like to try drinks on my next visit. I do have a slight recommendation (just an opinion). You guys should order a toaster to heat up some of the pastries. Some people like myself kinda like their croissant warm.

By far one of the best Bakery and Café I have been to. For my first visit I got the Chicken Pesto Panini and all I got to say is... "Damn that was so good!" So cheesy, so filling, and so flavorful. And how could I have left without getting some dessert, so I left with some of the fruit tart. That blew me away also, fresh and tasty. Overall my experience was one of the best. The staff and environment was amazing. I sure will be back for more!!

This place is great for a coffee run in the morning or to grab a pastry at lunch. The pastry selection isn’t what you might expect, though. 85 Degrees has interesting Taiwanese and Japanese pastries, like snow bread and honey teriyaki chicken. The Japanese mango bread is my personal favorite, definitely would recommend it. The only downside to this spot is the often long line. It’s worth the wait though if you’re up for something new.

I heard so much about 85°C Bakery Cafe which I think originated in South Cal. Finally got to try it during my visit to LA. I might have caught it on an off-day and also I was there just before closing also. I found the bread is kind of stale. The mango dessert cake and black forest cake was on par with other Asian bakery, but nothing really stands out. It's not bad, just doesn't quite live up to the hype... IMHO.

  • Mario Dos Campollo

Chain bakery delivers the goods!! Taiwanese style pastries and Guatemalan coffee, what more can you asked for. Eight five have a plethora different types of snacks and drinks. I myself had to go with a cafe con leche and a slab of cheese cake and a slab of Black Forest. Why not. And a taro drink for the Mrs.. Overall it’s a solid pastry shop and it’s great for breakfast or dessert. Dos cakes up

I love 85 degrees. This is a Taiwanese bakery with lots of buns and cakes to choose from. When you go in, just grab a tray and a pair of tongs and start picking out yummy pastries. I've never tried the savory buns, but they look really tasty too. I like this apple bun thingy with custard, and I always get a Sea salt iced black tea with half the normal amount of sugar (to offset the sweet buns!)

  • Cheryl McDermott

The bread is delicious and there are so many different options to try ranging from very unique to pretty standard for bakeries. Their drinks are also very good. Even in the morning rush, they're polite and quick with drink orders. The staff is friendly and happy to be there. Love this place and if I ever travel to any of the other cities they have a location in, I'll definitely be stopping by.

  • Kimberly Daniels

This is a great chain bakery, unfortunately the location in DTLA lacks the freshness of the Century City location. The food is good at both but the Century City location has always had warm items and more of a selection. In all fairness I think the one in DTLA is smaller and maybe not as busy. Overall it is a great value and good bread and pastries.

  • Ana Lopez

I like it a lot, they have amazing pastries like the premium milk or the brioche. They also have great drinks like the taro latte and mango boba slushie. Im rating them 4 stars because they no longer have my favorite pastry: the chicken and green onion with sriracha. Everything else is amazing though and I would recommend going there.

  • Mimi Mimi

I thought of getting a cake for someones bday at the last minute. It was late Saturday and this place was one of the few open bakery’s. There was a few cakes to choose from. I order a coffee cake, and it was delivered within 45 minutes of me placing the order. Cake tasted fantastic, and I loved the no hassle ordering online options.

  • Kathy Bradley

My boyfriend and i came here for the first time and we tried the patty melt dog, the dirty chili dog, and dirty fries they were all amazing but by far the most incredible thing either of us have ever had was the horchata ice cream. It was phenomenal. Each bite with the almonds, rice crispies and churro was literally a mouth orgasm.

  • Fat Tuscan

Unexpected, but maybe the best bakery I’ve been to in a while. I loved the unusual flavors and an Asian bakery offers all of that and more. I’m still dreaming of the sweet roll and chocolate bun! Think soft, milky, savory and not too overwhelmingly sweet. All things bread with oh so much to offer that we love when we think bakery!

  • Matthew Fuller

Pretty tight in this location. Don't expect to lounge about and enjoy your boba and buns... But it has everything that every other 85C has which is great. If you are in the mood for almost kind of pastry (besides pie) or are tired of the coffee or tea drinks from Starbucks definitely check this place out.

  • Cristobal Rendon

I've been to all the 85° in so cal, and even though I have nothing but observational data, I truly think this specific one in downtown LA bakes the best pastries (in case you're curious the one in Sherman oaks bakes the worst lol). For first timers I recommend the strawberry bun!!!!

  • Josian ジョジアン

Great pastries. Better than donuts! Take some to give to your office friends and you will be the popular guy. Their cakes are amazing too. Every birthday on the office people order from them. Especially the strawberry cake. Very fluffy, fresh and not to sweet. Very good.

  • Ekaterina Spiridonova

If you like sweets this is the place to go. The variety will make you go on circles trying to pick a couple things instead of ten. Prices are very pleasant. $1.80 apple danish $2.00 spinach danish They also have boba! for extra $0.50 2.75 medium Jasmine Green Tea

  • A R

If you really want cheesecake, and you ORDER the cheesecake, you will be disappointed. It's the texture if a fluffy pound cake. Very much a cake texture. Would be tasty if it had some cream on top and fruit I guess? It's rather too dry to have by itself

  • Jackie Ivy

I love this place - coffee and breads are amazing! I haven't been able to by snow bread in weeks (so sad). This location is tiny! There is only enough room for 4-5 people to sit...there is no outside seating, so get your pastries and coffee to-go.

  • Jaroslav Simecek

Great pastry and cakes. The coffee doesn't meet the Starbucks quality. The only problem I have here are long lines in the rush hours. They never use all the cash registers they have and since I am rushing to my work I really don't have time

  • Phillip

Bruuuuuuh this place....words can't describe how great of a bakery this is. The bread was literally coming out every 7 minutes or so. Me and my friend stumbled upon this place during an early morning walk. We did not anticipate on finding

  • Queenie Ito

85° finally opened here in DTLA! Centrally located on the corner of Wilshire and Hope. The bread, cakes and drinks are all still yummy here in the new location but unlike its suburban counterparts, the space is quite tiny and can make

  • Jessie Ingram

Great food and drinks. The 85C Bakery Cafe - Downtown Los Angeles brunch is good. Hot chocolate is smooth. The special drink eggnot is colorful and taste like candy, also great as well. Atmosphere is great, lots of window and light.

  • Brock Bell

Oh boy, this stop is a home run in my books. Delicious offerings that sub as nice small meals for breakfast or lunch. Of course, offering all sorts of pastries and sweets. The pricing here is unbelievably cheap for DTLA.

  • Miyu Ono

Love the variety of Asian American fusion pastries. Very narrow shop with limited counter seating. Staff are friendly but they do not accept American Express or have a bathroom. Would recommend the Marble Taro Bread!

  • nikki m

The pastries are delicious. My two issues are as follows: hearing the term "fresh bread" being yelled at 7am is a bit annoying. Also, the manager needs to realize you don't train new staff during the morning rush.

  • Luci O.

Everything I have purchased has been pretty good, very fresh and unique items. Both savory and sweet. I love the coconut and blueberry tarts. They announce 'fresh bread' every time it comes out of the kitchen.

  • Jared

85°C Wow! I'm glad I stumbled across it. Peach/Mango smoothie was excellent as was the tea. All of the baked goods and desserts looked wonderful. Unfortunately I had just ate, because the cakes looked so good.

  • Martin Georgiev

The bakery is absolutely delicious! I feel like there were fewer options here as the store was a bit smaller but whatever they had was super tasty. The staff was quick and friendly!

  • Sean Lisinski

Ordered milk tea, hotdog bun, and chocolate chip fudge cookies. All 3 were delicious and perfect. Highly recommend this place for a quick snack and there is some street parking

  • woongs

It's a proper bakery with breads, cakes and pastries made daily. The coffee doesn't rank tho. But the one-serve slices and tarts are priced better than Starbucks. More

  • Steven P.

Great Bakery, but won't bother to stop here anytime after 6pm unless I'm looking for boba. They always seem to be out of their more popular pastries after that time.

  • Dharani Devarakonda

They have lots of verities. Prices are reasonable. I love their sugar cream cheese, jalapeno cream cheese and guava strudel. Will visit again to try other stuff too.

  • Uyen Huynh

This bakery store is well-organized, lots of types of cakes. A typical coffee is deserved to try, not too sweet. Below are two types of coffees that we ordered.

  • The DemenCha

Bombbbbb fresh deserts and amazing breads too!! You'll be addicted after your first bite. When I make pasta, I always grab their fresh garlic bread, bomb AF!!

  • Angel Bretado

I love this place. The staff is friendly and remembers your drinks. I wish their app worked to place orders. The bread is always fresh and so many options.

  • Lanett Grant

Amazing selection of yummy pastries. The lemon cupcakes were so light and fluffy they felt like air. I wished I lived closer so I could eat here regularly!

  • Erik Ramirez

The pastries here are beyond delicious. Highly recommend this place. Only gripe....these pastries should be warmed but they don't warm them for you

  • Felipe Solis

Awesome service that makes you feel welcomed. Try out the Ham and Cheese and don't forget the coffee. Best delicatessen I've been in a long time.

  • AJ Supernova

This place was well organized and very clean professional polite knowledgeable of products and services overall great experience for me.

  • Dan

Yummy dessert!!!! So worth the money!! Price is reasonable too. The price at NYC is so much more expensive. Love it!!!!

  • hyperion87

Got the Hokkaido egg tart, very good, worth the trip. Also got additional tarts, Ube bread and a taro bread
