The service was not up to par, it took over 10 minutes for me to get checked in because nobody was at the desk. The next day in the morning, I asked for help from the coloured guy on duty and he completely ignored me, he just pointed me somewhere and didn’t help. I’m not sure if my age (I’m quite young) played a part in the disrespect I received, or maybe because I was there for work, I wasn’t as special as their high priority guests. I was also completely ignored at their restaurant/bar outside because I was alone (and young). Completely put me off, I’m never going there again and I’ll tell my colleagues the same as well. The shower in the room was fantastic though, the staff, however didn’t seem too eager to help me, for some odd reason, and I’m going to chalk it up to the fact that I was a young guest and I wasn’t as valuable (monetarily).

Great quality beds, clean and fresh linen, working air-conditioning and smelled clean in the rooms. Not 5 stars as we had to call for another towel and had a gap in the shower sealant that caused a lot of water to pool on the floor. Honestly, it's not a big deal though, as I simply angled the shower head slightly and therefore had no more pooling water. The staff immediately supplied the extra towel when asked.

Spent 2 nights in the hotel, very clean & beautiful rooms. The king size bed is massive & linen was very clean. Room service was excellent. Breakfast options are limited but very nice. TV options very limited, you might want to bring a laptop to watch Netflix etc. Wifi is very stable. Parking is secure If you want to iron your clothes,l suggest you bring ironed clothes because the hotel iron was leaking water ( a second option was better but not satisfactory). Next to the hotel there is a park, we took a Walk after breakfast to allow room service to clean our room. It's a quite place, the water flow is fascinating ( I'm sure in its hey days the place looked better than what it is today) Nonetheless we enjoyed our stay. Kudos to the reception ladies, they were very friendly.

1 Cleanliness : this hotel is very clean, the room, the bedding, everything. It's top notch clean. 2 Stuff service : the stuff is relatively friendly especially the shuttle driver I believe his name is Linda and the kitchen stuff. 3 Food : if you are a cabbage fan you will enjoy the menu for sure. I didn't know there were so many different ways one could eat cabbage. We stayed there for 4 nights, I don't think there was a day we didn't eat cabbage. 4 Loadshedding preparedness : I only got 1 hot shower the whole time we stayed there. Also the aircon doesn't work during load shedding. Otherwise, you can't tell it's loadshedding 5 Aesthetic : it's pretty, the room is nice, dining area is okay. You can get good pictures for the gram if you are into that.

This hotel is in dire need of maintenance and a serious upgrade. The main hotel door sensor doesn't work properly. The single lift sticks and eventually I opted to use the stairs to the 4th floor on several occasions. The carpets are stained. The floor I was on stank of strong smoke to the point of nausea. The A/C unit was really old and just blew out hot air. There was no water during the evening to shower, although it seemed to work okay again the next morning. The towels were old and some even marked? The door lock to my room got stuck with me on the inside on one occasion and wouldn't open. The general feel of the facility is tatty and grubby. The only positive is that the front desk staff are very polite and friendly and extremely helpful under the circumstances.

The only wheelchair accessible room has two single beds separated by an immovable bedside table. The beds are in a terrible state, dirty and old, and the bedding doesn't even cover the base, so this is all exposed. The room is awful. Nothing about it says the hotel takes inclusion and diversity seriously or that I should come back and give them more business. I requested the GM to come and see me, and they never showed up. I was not important enough for her to make that call or visit. I find this revolting disrespectful. Persons with disabilities have lives. I could have been traveling with my partner. The expectation that they must sleep in single beds as if they are in a hospital is disgusting.

I had a five star experience! The room was larger than I expected! It was definitely up to American standards. The bed was comfy and having the a/c was wonderful. The food is great. The buffet style give you ease of mind to have variety. The staff was over the top friendly. It has a restaurant attached if you desire a switch in food. I felt perfectly safe the entire time. There is a LIFT! So staying on upper floors is easy! Also the hotel has a shuttle service to the airport. I highly recommend this hotel! Amenities are simple but more than enough to keep you happy for your stay! Oh, grocery shopping, pharmacy shopping and local shopping within 5 minute drive!! Uber is in Joburg!

Good Points: Quite nice and affordable. Buffet is alright and cheap, not enough varieties though. Thursdays are best... it's grill day and you can have your fill. Rooms are clean & cozy. The receptionists are nice and attend to you with smiles Bad Points: No gym room. You have to use another complex where you have to pay. Accommodation does not include breakfast. There's no water in the fridge.. you have to pay for water. The elevator is a bit cranky and misbehaves once in a while. Some of the waiters are a bit stuck up, doesn't smile much.. like you are a pain (my perception though) However, if you are low budget... I recommend this hotel. For a 3star hotel they are alright ...

Not the best experiance. Lift wasnt working so had to climb a few flights of stairs with our bags, however was fixed soon after. Tv was making a terrible noise on some channels. Batteries in remote for aircon were dead. Brought new batteries but couldnt change the settings on the remote. The plug in the basin wouldnt open , so filled up quickly..coulnt use it again. Was very dirty under the beds, i dropped a earing so had to move the bed. . The table light kept going on and off , a bang in the table would make it work again. We enjoy staying there, however we wernt very impressed with this stay.

I was at the hotel from Tuesday to Friday 15 July 2022. The food section is very disappointing. Don't cater for vegetarians. People had to go buy food from the restaurant next door. You give people tribe and not everybody eats that. People should be given options. You can't just give red meat and assume that everyone will eat. You must improve your food section. When some food is finished, there is no refill. We understand that food is expensive but it mustn't be an obvious thing at the hotel We pay for food and we can't be getting food from restaurants while the service has been paid for. Service your generator as well.

So disappointed with our stay. Avoid at all costs. Filthy baby cot which was missing a mattress, so unsafe! Tv not working and most channels fuzzy, staff weren't interested in fixing Some of the staff I found were grumpy and not helpful at all. Dinner I had the brisket and oxtail which was mainly brisket and quite spicy so didn't finish it and my Fiancé had a streak and peppercorn sauce. Nice and Modern hotel, with safe parking for your vehicle. However, the bathroom needs a deep clean, there’s rust on the shower door mould everywhere in the shower and you are only provided with 1 roll of toilet paper and no facial tissues. The breakfast buffet was absolutely underwhelming and the generator is so loud woke me up at 3am, the noise is unbearable

The room was well-designed and spacious with a king-sized bed. There was even enough space to deal with our four big bags. The bathroom also never felt cramped. There is a restaurant right next door, so you have everything you need. The only issues is with the generator situation, which is not their fault. At night when it comes on or switches off (I don't know which)there is a flash of light in the room. Apart from that, the place suited our needs very well.

Awful experience! Did not sleep the whole night as people were screaming and fighting outside the door and we were so scared. The aircon water dripped on the floor and we had to use the only towel provided to stop the dripping sound on the floor. This was a traumatizing experience as I came from hospital and an operation to recover and felt so scared and unsafe. I could have stayed in my car in the middle of a taxi rank would have been the same. Never again.

I stayed for a week on a business trip. I must say that i was extremely impressed with EVERYTHING. Not what i was expecting from a 3 star hotel. Great spacious rooms and the MOST AMAZING STAFF. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel. Keep on doing what you are doing and keep shining

The rooms are okay but don't expect to find service here. This is the second night in a row that the food has taken forever...and there are no waiters to be seen. From all the Protea Hotels I've stayed in this has by far been the worst. I wonder what do the managers and staff think of the service they provide. And if someone ever checks up on them.... Honestly, I am very sure you will find a better place to stay near this hotel.

The hotel is nice, and have friendly staff and excellent service. My room was big, just not used to an open wardrobe. Makes the whole place looks a like messy when your luggages are just laying on the floor. Had an issue with my bathroom basin, seemed to be blocked. My dustbin in the bathroom was also broken. Also didn't enjoyed the dinner I ordered, however they had a great buffet breakfast.

The food here is awful, the first time I stayed here in December 2022 it was decent however everytime I have returned since then it has been absolutely terrible. The worst part is that they charge premium prices. It's been incredibly disappointing. The service however from reception is excellent, cannot recommend them enough from that standpoint.

I just love the place and its environment, inside and outside. The friendly and helpful staff is what keeps me going. The big and hearty breakfast is memorable and can't be easily compared. I loved that I was offered a late check out, it came in handy. The beautiful outside, well manicured gardens look great even in winter, the environment is just awesome!

We Loved our stay at the Protea hotel by Marriot. Very nice and well looked after hotel with very good rates on the rooms as well. It is next to bossa where we got wasted and had a good party. Afterwards when we got back to the hotel we ordered room service, the food was impeccable and it came within 20min. I will most definitely stay at this Protea hotel again!

Beautiful hotel, delicious breakfast with variety of options and friendly staff. However, there’s room for improvement. The sink in my room was not working well, the charging points were a bit loose which made charging a nightmare. The TV channels were not working and maintenance couldn’t fix it. The staff at the Protea Hotel Roodepoort are friendly and willing to make your stay and enjoyable hassle free experiance. I would recommend this hotel for anybody visiting the area as it is clean and comfortable. My only negative was that in todays times one would not exect to have a limit on the Internet usage.

Situated above a beautiful lake, you would not say that such a tranquil place is located within the vicinity of a busy hub. Received by friendy staff, we were treated with exception. One of the best hotel u can visit and love it because of its safety and security personnel, good reception and have the most fresh air due to trees and flowers surrounding the place. Not just inside but also nice experience in taking a walk on the garden with a grate view of the lake

That's our home away from home. Staff always friendly. Rooms clean and fresh. We even visited last year in the peak of Covid. They tried their best to ensure that we feel safe even though they could only serve a limited menu. Security staff, very helpful. We'll be back again.
