"Based in the capital city of Ghana, Accra, the Accra sports stadium is excellent for sporting events"
A wife of one of the players took me to the game and we were stuck in front of the gate of the stadium for almost 2 hours because the people were pushing themselves in so the security had to close the gate and then the drivers of the first few cars in front of us couldn't wait and decided to lock, leave their cars and went in to watch the game. It was a disaster and no one wanted to do anything about it until 2 ministerial cars came behind us and the army and police were forced to do something. It was quite frustrating and we missed the game for half an hour. We had to forget about our VIP seats when we got in as everyone decided to sit everywhere. In my few months in Ghana, I've never really seen Ghanaian people losing their cool except on this occasion. I found it hilarious!! Being stuck 15 meters in front of the gate for 2 hours wasn't cool though. Never seen this anywhere in the world. It's been an experience
The Accra sports Stadium is the oldest stadium in Ghana located in Accra central, the national capital. The sports stadium serves the main purpose of sporting activities such as football, athletics, basket ball, and many more sporting activities. The sports stadium also serves as a venue for occasions with large gatherings such as church conventions, funerals and weddings, celebrity shows and many more. The numerous state and private properties around the Accra sports stadium gives it a very good landmark such as the Military Cemetery, OmanYe Aba building, independence square, and many more. The red, yellow, green and black paintings on the seats gives makes it very beautiful and gives a true definition of our proudness in the national flag. Still undergoing renovation as of SEPTEMBER, 2018.
Accra Sports Stadium was a good experience to watch the Accra Lions. The stadium offers refreshments through local sellers walking through the stands and the basic necessities such as bathrooms. Seating was GA, purchasing tickets was pretty simple outside the main entrance. There were a few guys waiting outside to help you get your tickets. I think the way it works is, you show up, hand a reseller/buyer your 20 cedis, they use their mobile app or phone to then purchase you a ticket and hand you a paper copy of the ticket. Once in the grounds no one checked my QR ticket though, so didnt feel like i got scammed or anything. Tickets ranged from 20-30 cedis. I'd with the 20 cedi lower-leaving seating to sit nearby the local fans to amplify the experience.
Accra sports stadium is a sport stadium in the center of the capital (Osu), it has the Black Star Square to its left and the parliament house at right and also have ministries at the back and the Osu Castle few meters from the front. Accra sports stadium is the main stadium for a the Ghana national football teams, the stadium was renovated in the year 2008 prior to the 2008 hosted by Ghana. The facility takes a human capacity of forty thousand plus (40,000+) and has volley and tennis ball court. The facility is the home venue for Accra Hearts of Ork, Accra Great Olympics, Legon city FC, Accra Lions and more of the clubs in the Accra, and hosts a lot of cup matches and finals in the country.
Based in the capital city of Ghana, Accra, the Accra sports stadium is excellent for sporting events. Much of the rich experience of the stadium came through home leg matches hosted by Accra Hearts of Oak which considers the stadium its home territory. Over the years the stadium has held many exceptional matches - the stuff history is made of. The Black Stars of Ghana have also played some international matches on this soil. The stadium is bordered by the Independence Arch and the Independence Square. If you are a football enthusiast, then definitely check this stadium out when it hosts a match. With a seating capacity of an estimated 40,000, there is enough watching space for everyone.
The Accra Sports stadium serves massive fun, rivalry and spirited team support on mid-weekdays, weekends and most importantly on days when the Ghanaian senior national football team , The Black Stars are engaged in a home match for international competitions. What on a regular day looks like a calm and collected monument becomes charged with the presence of men, women and children of all economic, social, political and religious backgrounds inside and outside the stadium in cheers, intellectual football discourse and prideful rants about the beautiful game.
Biggest stadium in Accra, Ghana.... Neatly arranged seats with clean environment. Adequate and tight security too...It was also cool seeing food and drink vendors around. Parking space is a problem during very huge events tho and washroom maintenance is utterly disappointing, considering the fact that it’s the popular and largest stadium in Ghana. Ministry of sports should kindly do their homework... The whole place was stinking so bad and excrete were all over the wcs, very disappointing.
The only major sports stadium in the capital city of Ghana, Accra. Has a seating capacity of about 45,000. Hosts major local football and international football matches. After major rehabilitation in 2008 to host the CAN 2008, it was converted to a full football stadium. Athletic tracks were removed. Is located between OSU, ridge, independence square now black stars square and parliament house. About 800m from the beach of the Atlantic ocean.
Came here to watch the opening game of the Ghana Premier League—Legon Cities vs Bechem United. We discovered the 40000 seat stadium mostly empty, but enjoyed the atmosphere. Great place to sit and socialize while watching football and listening to a live band. Tickets are 10 GHS, ladies get in for free! If you are passing through Accra, this is a fun and cheap way to spend an evening. Ask around to see if any games are happening.
Accra sports stadium is a great place to watch a match or participate in any number of sports. I've attend a judo and self defense workshop there with Ghanaian national team which was amazing and free of charge. Watching a national league game was a great experience!!! The local fans are passionate and dedicated. The game was entertaining and the spectacle was a memorable. Drummers songs dancing it was all fantastic.
I have two problems I would like to share if the authorities will listen and work towards it 1)The score board doesn't display the play back or the slow motion of the action so if you miss the action that's all 2)I also suggest a biometric purchasing of tickets to avoid over crowding like what happened between Olympics and hearts of oak last Sunday which a clear goal scored was disallowed
It was an amazing atmosphere. The stewards did a good job of keeping the fans to sit according to the Covid19 protocols. The math between Accra hearts of Oak and Wydad Casablanca was one well enjoyed. From the beginning both teams looked to be all careful and so it cagey, but the second half was more explosive from both teams. The home team ended up winning by a goal to nil.
I came all the way from Nigeria to watch Nation's cup qualifiers between Ghana vs Kenya, i got to Accra two days before the game, went to all the malls couldn't find tickets for purchase anywhere, i had to visit the stadium, i want VVIP ticket sold out, the VIP tickets was available, after purchase i couldn't get a seat, i sat on the stirs to watch the game, unfortunately.
You would want to go to the Centre Line or VIP slot when you are supporting teams with a massive fan base. The seats at the centre line and the popular stands are not cleaned so you are likely to get your pants soiled when you don't get them cleaned first. The popular stand is not coordinated and the washrooms are not well managed as well as some portions of the stadium.
I have been here few times but the excitement wasn’t to expectation. Maintenance of the stadium itself has been a challenge for quite some time now. Their wash rooms are very appalling and must be worked on immediately. For whatever reason I came here, for instance for the cardi B concert in 2019 I had fun as Ghanaians you know are friendly and hospitable
How cool is this to have such a big stadium in Accra. I had the opportunity to visit it and I must say I was impressed with how big for me it was and the various sports sections inside the complex such as a tennis field and others. i did like feeling the effervescence of a stadium despite the fact that it was empty but I enjoyed myself going there.
For a stadium that is the nation's flagship, a lot more can be done to improve the state of the amenities. The pitch looks poorly maintained. The chairs are in poor shape. Doesn't look like they are cleaned very often. Washrooms are terrible. The vast majority of them. They have so much space for vendors, but has not really taken off.
The washrooms were not well kept with water dripping all over the floors. I guess the authorities are not ensuring a good maintenance culture of the facilities. This is a national property and its image reflects the impression that other nationals get about our Nation. Authorities sit up to maintain the standard of our stadium.
It was awesome Presence of God all over the place. Through the ministration of God's Servants,Drs Paul and Becky Enenche from ABUJA Nigeria. We're blessed to have him. After closing the Uber services and the map helped us to reach home safely although it was late in the night. We appreciate your efforts to help Strangers.
Largest capacity multi-purpose stadium for most international and top level local matches. Convenient location makes for easy access to anywhere in the city. Visitors have to be careful with their vehicles and belongings left in them though; this place attracts all kinds.
Ghana’s most popular stadium. Centered in the heart of Accra - the capital city. Serves as the prime location for open space entertainment and concerts. Recent renovations have given the place a facial uplift but more can still be done, especially for sports activities.
If it's a big match, its best you go early and get parking space. Plus if you're scared of heights like i am, buy vvip tickets. If not you'd have your heart in your hand as you climb up for a better view. I was damn scared for my life. But it's a good place
In fact our only NATIONAL SPORTS STADIUM is very beautiful almost every area has been prepared very well and renovations are almost done every part of the stadia, nice to visit and Tennis tournament over weekend. Good to send kids to have fun …
Can't beat the entrance price, fans are super enthusiastic playing instruments and dancing, and cheap snacks. If you're a futbol (soccer) fan who enjoys the game regardless of who is playing, this is local fun in it's purest form.
Nicely refurbished Central Stadium, within Accra's city centre. The stadium was refurbished, after the big stadium disaster happened in 2001. More than 130 died during a stampede. Opposite Black Star Gate and Independence Square.
Rubbish! 5hrs to the game and tickets were not on sale at the gates. And no advance sales so you have to show up an hour before 6game starts to buy tickets. 20000+ people buying tickets at the same time with an hour to kickoff?
Great atmosphere, massive support from both fans, fantastic and entertaining soccer. A good run for your ticket(money). Ghana Football is the hub of continental football. We call the Accra Sports Stadium "The Nation's Wembley"
For those playing tennis there are four good quality hard/ acrylic courts in the National Tennis Center. There is also an excellent tennis shop with a good stringer where you can also buy a variety of tennis clothes and shoes.
The new renovated sports stadium looks quite great, seats looks new, floor lights working again, speakers sounding much better. The washroom still needs to be worked on. Not a bad place to watch an afternoon or evening soccer.
The Tennis Centre has four hard courts of good quality. The courts also have seats so that’s excellent. The bathrooms still need work, and the lights for evening matches have to be fixed. Tennis in Ghana needs help.
Went to support my country today. The black stars scored 1 against the harambee of Kenya. The love for the country drives us to support our black stars thru thick and thin. Nice stadium with great view points
It's a massive stadium. Just wish they could keep the people outside and the children that actually don't have tickets to come inside. And disgusting toilets as any one is allowed in.Tighten up security.
I’m not much of a football fan. Hence I barely visits sport stadiums . As a public place, I entreat that the lavatories are given keen sanitary to. The current state ain’t the friendliest. …
It is a nice place with plenty of nice people. A well organized shopping mall in the centre of one of Ghana's busiest markets. I was able to purchase all I wanted to purchase, great shopping experience.
The stadium is being renovated. The seats have been replaced and also field looks greener, coupled with lots of things which were either malfunctional or rusted have all been replaced.
One of Ghana's finest sport's stadium... Has a capacity of about 40,000... I just wish the stadium will get display screens ...but I guess plans are being made for that... …
My third visit to the Accra Sports Stadium. This time for the Christ Embassy Foundation School Graduation Ceremony - 25June2022. Beautiful arena. It looks better with each visit.
This place is good for various sporting activities, like table tennis and others. Wheel chair accessible so those with deformities can also enjoy the place.
I had an awesome experience at the Accra sports stadium last night. Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics really displayed their talents on the pitch yesterday.
Accra Sport Stadium is one of or the best place , amazing ,big Parking, you feel much the game from the tribune , yes , go and see and confirm it !!!!
The facility so poor. I was beaten by the rain even though I was under a canopy at the center line. Washrooms so smelly and dirty. Bad baf experience
It was not bad to watch the football in the stadium. Ticket is GHC 10. VIP ticket is GHC 20. The VIP area was quite full and other areas were empty.
It has a 40000 seat capacity. It has 3 tennis courts and a court that can be used for judo, boxing etc. It's very big and it is a sight to behold.
Neat environment, toilets, organised, easily accessible. Has a roofed area and an unroofed area. The noise from the stands is also well contained.

N S C didn't do well at all for not even clearing one of the seats for we shame to them about the game nice and excited we need more of such game
It was all fun, as my darling club Accra Hearts of Oak won the league for the first time after 11 years on 11th day of the month of July.
The renovation works done has greatly improved the facility. The washrooms are awesome. Floodlights working as well as the scoreboard.
Well and nicely arranged chairs. Only the chairs were dirty. Conference rooms were well lit and tidy. Great view from the top gallery
The chairs were too dirty and the wash rooms were extremely unkempt. Aside that, it's a great place to watch association football.
Appalling in every sense. Washrooms were the filthiest I've ever seen in my life, seats were uncomfortable and many broken.
Accra is exciting place to be, the fact that cost of living has gone up has it positive vibe and what you make out of it
great facility... lots of talent are being developed daily especially in tennis... bring your kids. amazing coaches
The seats are old and dirty. There should be people to clean them. Some too are broken. More room for improvement!
Accra sport stadium is a cool place to be on any given match day. Your safety and entertaining football is assured
Accra Tennis Stadium. Well kept and maintained grounds with sparing partners available for hitting at all times.
The Accra Sport stadium is close to the Black Star Square & the Independence Cenotaph and some other monuments
I watched a very good football match. My team Accra great Olympics won and I'm so excited. I had a lot of fun.
It’s has a lot of room for a crowd I think a better job can be done at maintaining it but for now it’s okay.
Washroom was a mess, demn !! Toilets all over the place, looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in over a year!!
Beautiful place, bust must be advertised to hold other events and tourism to improve revenue generations.
It has nice environment but the park itself needs some improvement the sun scorching there is too much
It does the job. Neither anything bad or good. Just meh. Could have better quality pitch at the least.
It's a good place for all sort of games.... it's just that maintenance isn't really top notch.
Even though we didn't go to the next stage of the competition but the supports were really woo
A very lively stadium, with a very nice atmosphere when there's football game going on there
ECG has taken the power from Accra Sports Stadium ️ this is a National Embarrassment …
Nice place to visit, but it's difficult to watch a match because of the covid protocols
It is an amazing and huge stadium where we had our Zonal foundation school Graduation
Badminton court in a deplorable state Was disappointed with the lack of Maintenance ☹
It was a new experience altogether.full of fun and very exciting .had a great time
The environment is not properly clean and the seats are not in good shape.
We went for a show It's a big stadium but they can work on their washrooms
They are currently having the 1st ever Para Games in Africa in Ghana...
Washrooms were unavailable even though there was an ongoing event
I went there to watch Ghana black stars vrs Liberia
Very dirty place. No place for proper convenience.
Just as usual but needs regular maintenance
Most of the washrooms are in terrible state
