I would give them zero stars if I could. I rented a car in Charlotte NC used it here, and traveled to Virginia before returning it 9 days later. While in VA I received a $2k charge on my credit card. I called my credit card company and told them it was fraudulent after finding out the info/company charging me was based in Daytona, and I had no clue what it was. Come to find out in the VERY fine print of the rental agreement if you take the car to any other surrounding state around NC, you are fine but NOT Virginia. It was a $1k charge. I cannot make this up. They literally took $1k from me with NO REFUNDS. I was not told at all when I picked the car up I couldn't take it to VA, but all other surrounding states. When I returned the car, I wasn't given my final bill either. I had no idea until days later when I saw my $2k bill and passed out. I immediately called, and Kim Carter called me back in management. She told me the employee at the front desk had been there for years (who by the way was not very kind and had a very dry personality) and she told me she was almost certain she told me. She wasn't there how did she know? Watch the cameras, that lady NEVER told me not to take it to certain geo locations or hmmmm would you take it for a $1k charge?? No I would definitely have not! She called me from an unknown number, left me zero messages, about the charge when they charged me. I don't answer unknown numbers due to too many scam and telemarketer calls. She didn't leave a voicemail which I have proof of. Now they want their $2k, and there's nothing they can do?? I was in shock. You need a lawyer, dictionary, magnifying glass, and about 3 hours before you BOOK ANYTHING nowadays. It's all becoming such a huge scam. Kim told me already 4 people fell for this just recently? How is this legal? I feel inclined to hire a lawyer for this.. for unnecessary fees that they charge. $1k is a lot of money.. just to drive it across a state line and then to return the car in perfect condition. Renters beware. They lost my business forever as well as all of my friends/family. DON'T RENT HERE.. they will charge you ghost fees and you WILL Have to pay them.

Let me start by saying $300 for a flat tire. Yes $300. We flew into Charlotte on a Saturday night and discovered the booking site we used had failed to mention that one night a week they close at 10. Saturdays. So there we are with our exhausted 3 year old until after midnight in a city we don't know, trying to figure out what to do with no car, no other rental car options (everyone was out), and no carseat for an Uber. We finally talked an Uber driver into taking us to our Airbnb at 12:30. Then my husband took another Uber back the next morning to get our car, which for some reason, costed about 50% more than when we booked and that was with one less day. The carseat we booked costed nearly as much as just buying a basic one (also not mentioned in the site). The desk worker was unapologetic and condescending, which was also helpful. Then the next night (30 hours after getting the car) we stopped for a treat in the city and got out to discover a flat tire. We checked for a spare and equipment, but there was none. We called Advantage to ask what to do and they said the only thing they could do is get a tow truck to come all the way to them, pick up a new rental car, then drive it out to us and trade us. My husband specifically asked what the cost would be and the person on the phone refused to give him one. We saw no other options and it was 8:30 at night so we agreed. We were hanging out with our 3 year old in a shady part of uptown Charlotte until well after midnight -almost 4 hours later when the new car finally arrived. We were then told it would be $300, which I'm sorry, is utterly ridiculous there is no better system in place for such a common, every day occurrence. This whole experience made me kind of hate Charlotte and want to NEVER rent another car again. TLDR $300 charge for a flat tire Rental fee significantly more than we agreed to on booking site Nightmare nightmare nightmare

Horrible experience renting a car from Advantage in Charlotte NC. The First car they offered me had a missing driver side mirror. The Second car had dents all over it, and over 36,000 miles. I was in a hurry, so I took it anyways. Upon pulling out, I heard something rattling such as the muffler. Not just a little rattle, but something serious. So I turned around and headed back into the parking garage where the rental cars were kept. I asked for the rental car guy "Jay", to please come look at the car, and he said "it's not my job". I was completely taken back that he refused to walk 10 feet and look at the car. And then he said he would give me another car. I asked him to look over the new car with me. He said again it was not his job. (Very odd use of words). I asked for the manager, and he said "not available". I asked for the name and phone number of the manager, and he circled the 1-800 number on the top of the contract, and told me to call that number. I asked his name, and he wouldn't give it to me. I returned to the counter inside the airport, cancelled my reservation, and asked the name of the person at the outside kiosk who was so incredibly rude. I also provided my name and cell number to have a manager call me. After cancelling the car, and I went to Budget. Saved $50 on the rental, and got a larger car. I really came out ahead. When the manager called me, I forwarded him pictures of the 30+ dents in the car. I told him about the horrible experience with Advantage customer service, and the condition of the cars that were offered to me. I will never accept another car from Advantage; they should be thoroughly a shamed of themselves for offering cars in such poor condition.

Booked through Priceline and when I got to the desk 3 hours early and was told that the car I reserved was already gone. I was told the only way I could get a car was to upgrade. Then I was told to pick out insurance. I told them I already had the insurance included in my reservation. That’s when I was told I couldn’t have a car unless I picked one. It was going to end up costing me almost $300 more than I had already paid. I reserved a economy car in which they said they didn’t have. I upgraded and got a tiny car that I paid extra for. There was a couple next to me in line that was having to argue with them over the same stuff. It started feeling like just a big scam. They go through travel companies and when you get there they start trying to add more stuff on so they get more money from you. Of course when your traveling and need a car, they feel like they have you and start adding more cost. Not sure if that’s how they work or if it is what the company makes their workers do. Then when I called customer service I was told it was my fault. They claimed I asked for the upgrade and extra insurance. They told me it was my fault and they did nothing wrong. When your told they have no car unless you upgrade and that you can’t have a car without extra insurance what do they expect you to do. You should be ashamed. Scamming people for more money. Most unprofessional company I’ve ever dealt with. Oh and I just love when they respond with contact customer service. If they had only read this they would have known I already contacted their customer service and was let down by them as well. Trying to blame the customer for them being scam artists.

Local renters beware: Apparently Advantage does not honor "unlimited mileage" if you live within a certain distance of the rental location. I rented and prepaid for a vehicle through one of the third party sites. I made sure to confirm via Priceline (the third party that I rented through) that the rental included unlimited mileage and even checked Advantage's terms and conditions to confirm this- all clear. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, Advantage then informed me that there was a limit of 200 miles + $0.55 per mile thereafter, or I could pay $20 for the unlimited mileage plan. Keep in mind that I had prepaid for the vehicle through Priceline so I couldn't back out. I begrudgingly agreed to pay. When I got back to drop the car off, I double checked all of the terms of my booking and nowhere did it mention this policy. I spoke to one of the agents when I returned and she agreed with me and mentioned that Advantage does not honor unlimited mileage policies for local renters, that this policy is not located anywhere that I would have been able to see prior to booking, and that it is a dishonest way for Advantage to bait and switch customers to make an extra dollar. She said that even though she works for the company, she rents through Budget when she needs a rental car. She was nice enough to refund me at least a portion of this fee. Totally not worth the headache. Not to mention, the car had 52,000 miles and smelled awful. I could have rented for cheaper and gotten a nicer vehicle elsewhere. Less than a 1-star experience. Lesson learned.

Absolutely trash of a rental car agency.. Never rent a car from this scamming worthless wanna be rental car place. They weasel you around and make you pay for absolutely every thing. Don't let them screw you out of the toll package and not ask you about it. $25 fee for every toll you go through, and I just so happen went through 15 and was uninformed. I will be calling corporate shortly. It all started out with taking 45 minutes to find me a rental van that u reserved weeks prior. Upon check in they tried to grt to me book any other car other than a van because they just rented out the one I had reserved. 45 minutes go by and they two employees were scrounging around clueless trying to find me a van. They proceed to find me a van, but as I'm driving over the west Virginia border I revieve a call asking for the numbers on letters on my keys because they just so happen to give me the wrong car?!? From the start it was all a headache. Next comes a unnecessary $20 a day charge for unlimited miles that they do not say anything about. Cool I paid the extra $240 no problem. Upon returning I was informed about this ridiculous scam of a $25 fee per every toll you roll through when you don’t purchase the toll package. I was never informed or was asking about any sort of toll, and I will be making a phone call to straighten out this scam. Morale of the story, don’t waste your time with this trash

The experience that I had with Advantage at CLT was abysmal. I reserved an economy car at this business and when I went to pick it up, there were none available. They charged me an upgrade fee, which I had absolutely no energy at that point to fight about (the woman behind the desk was also incredibly rude). I decided later on to call Advantage customer service and discuss this. The man on the phone said he would send the Charlotte manager an email and I'd hear back soon. Fast forward ~10 days: still nothing. I called customer service again and found out that the manager wrote back to them saying that he had called me and explained there is nothing they can do about it. NOBODY CALLED ME!!!! I told the customer service rep that no one has called me and they proceeded to hang up on me. I called back and very politely told the next rep what has happened re: CLT just to be told they'd once again reach out to the manager. Another 10+ days go by and still nothing. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra few bucks for a better company, there's a reason I guess why Advantage is cheaper; apparently they don't pay or train their staff. *Update: I filed a formal complaint through BBB & settled it. It should not have needed to get that far.

Not too happy about all the time writing a review to have it erased when I get to Google, site technicians that's a one star for you. The attendants at the airport were fantastic, that's who deserve the five stars. The young gentleman who helped me was VERY knowledgeable and explained the process perfectly. He offered the first time upgrade and I was grateful. This is for the policy makers now. The first time user upgrade..... excellent idea. This is for the fleet managers, dash warning for tire problem was on the whole time we had the car, the tires were worn but didn't look too bad; no question that there was a slight pull to the left so the alignment hasn't been done in awhile as well. Also, the interior vent had been damaged before we picked up the car but there was no way of noting that on the sheet for examining the exterior of the car, I'm in no way upset about that but it's one of those things that if not noted could come back to me. IF we were supposed to write that on the inspection sheet there was no indication of that, neither was that communicated by the attendants. Otherwise, thanks for a good rental.

Terrible experience. Charlotte added charges I did not authorize and refused to take them off when I called. Misled me on my options for insurance. Said I had to return in person, a three hour drive. It was difficult to reach customer service and when I did they said they were not authorized to do anything. I reached them in writing and informed them of the incorrect charges, and they said they cannot accept it by eMail, I may only inform them in person. This seems like a policy to lock people into charges they didn't agree to. I’m a consumer protection lawyer and would strongly advise consumers to avoid this business. UPDATE: Just got my final bill and they defrauded me on the gas too. They said it would be $2.40 a gallon if I buy a half tank, gas is almost $4.00, so I did. Brought it back half full, as required. Bill showed I left with 13 out of sixteen gallons and returned it with 7 out of 16. They charged me for 10 gallons - $24.17. Or giving them the benefit of the doubt, even though there is no reason to, they charged me for half a tank - 8 gallons, but at $3.00.

I thought I was having great service. The lady booked us a car for 3 days, we had a great rate. Told her when our flight was to be bringing it back. Which was going to be 6:30pm. She said great we will get that in there for you, just drop it off when you get back to the airport, this will be your total. Apparently they were being sneaky and didn't tell me that they would put only 72 hours from when I icked it up, so I get a phone call 2.5 hours before I'm due to return it saying that I'm late and they are going to charge me $75 for the "extra 2.5 hours I'm keeping it" and to have a good day and hung up. I will never recommend this service to anyone and will be calling the company first thing Tuesday morning to inform them of their unprofessional and sneaky service. I wasn't even going to rent a car, but thought I'd give it a shot with them. Uber or pick somewhere else if you ever need to get around. An extra $75 at the end of my trip when the lady told me I could bring it back at my flight, wrote down my flight number and time and everything. STAY AWAY FROM ADVANTAGE.

READ THE FINE PRINT!!! I have flown and rented a car 3 times in the past 7 months. Twice to Charlotte, once to Raleigh. I went with Advantage for the best rate and unlimited miles. I got there at 12:50, my rental started at 2 but rather than give me the option to come back they charged me for 2 hours extra. Three days later they called wanting to know where I was located, I was in Virginia with my elderly mom, they charged me another $250 for going from NC to Va. (just over the state line) Said I violated the contract. Apparently you can only go to 4 states and Ava is not one-off them No I did not read the fine print but I have never had that problem before. It cost me almost $800 to rent a Hyundai Elantra for a week, absolutely ridiculous! When in returned the car I spoke with 2 managers about the charges and turned in the keys. The next day I received a text message wanting to know when I planned on returning the car!! Very unprofessional!! The name should be “Take Advantage” because that’s what they do!!

This is the third time I have used this company its never been great but it was cheep and i could overlook the little niggles. However my latest rental was dirty and as it tuns out not fit for the road as the front tires were bald. Responses from customer service have so far been poor and verging on unacceptable. Judgement will be reserved until I have spoken to them again tomorrow... So 2 weeks later and after putting two new tires on the front (walmart tire fitter was incredulous /scathing regarding how this car was let out of the garage) and a bit of a struggle I have full reimbursement, however, this was only after my wife found the email address of the head of customer service and corresponded with her. Fundamentally this organisation has lost any semblance of putting the customer first and clearly does not have clear policy how to deal with customer issues throughout its customer facing staff. Down grade to 1 . If you do use these guys please check your tires first!

DON'T USE!!! ADD IN CHARGES WITHOUT VERBALLY TELLING YOU!! My husband and I rented a car through Expedia with Advantage. The agent asked my husband "will there be an additional driver?" He said "well I think my wife" to he on the safe side in case I needed to drive. The agent NEVER indicated there would be an additional charge for this. Had we known there was a charge we would have said we were not interested because I rarely drive anyways!!! Upon getting our e-bill we saw we were charged for this. We called immediately and the company would not refund this charge!!! This is a VERY DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICE Additionally, the car we rented had a leak in the tire which we had to fill throughout the weekend which was a HUGE PAIN AND UNSAFE. We didn't make a big deal about it but kindly reported it without asking for any reimbursement. And then they sock us with that Additional driver charge. Will never rent again from them and we rent cars all of the time.

It was July 2nd, the beginning of the Fourth of July weekend. TURO (don't ever rent from them) messed up my car rental and they are overpriced. I found Advantage while searching for a replacement rental on Expedia. The price was right so I reserved it immediately and drove to the Charlotte airport to pick it up. When I arrived there were long lines at every big name rental. I was relieved that I didn't have to wait in one of those lines. Advantage didn't have a line, but they should have. The service I received while getting my car was simple and to the point. The lady representative was professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I reserved a Corolla but she upgraded me to a Camry. When I went up to the lot to get my car, I was impressed with all of their good looking cars. The car attendant gave me my keys and I was off for a fun Fourth of July weekend.

Our recent experience renting a car from Advantage at the Charlotte, NC, airport was one I wouldn't recommend. Though there was no waiting, we still spent 30 minutes at the counter trying to obtain the car we'd reserved. The car we'd ordered wasn't available---we'd ordered a compact but all they had were SUVs and one Camry. They gave us a high-pressure sales job to get us to buy their insurance, saying that they wouldn't rent us a car unless we could provide our insurance policy number or buy their insurance!Fortunately my wife had a copy of the policy number in her wallet. We were called later, in the middle of our vacation, by a staff member who needed information about our car because she was doing inventory. All of that added up to a sub-par experience for us. When we can get great service from similarly priced competitors, why bother with Advantage?

  • My Tahadas

Not sure what the problem is here. I have a reservation. Been waiting in line for over 30 minutes. I've seen one completed transaction and another that is STILL happening. There are 3 people in front of me. When you're at the airport getting a car, don't most people already have reservations? You walk up to the counter, give them the reservation, show them your license, hand you the key and your off. Slowest place EVER. Prices are good, but not sure it's worth the wait. So..... after an hour I did get my car. My husband had time to go get a car downstairs. But we wanted to stay on track so he cancelled it. They UPGRADED us and then also lowered the price. I was also informed that there is a NASCAR race this weekend. Knowing that, seems they should have planned better for manpower. But overall, I will change my previous 2 stars to 3 stars.

Checking in after a two hour flight with a toddler, the customer service representative asked if I'd like to prepay for gas. I declined, as I always do. The employee then said because my rental was a local rental, that there would be no charge for gas. This was my first time doing business with Advantage, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn this. However, unbeknownst to me, she had in fact charged me $45 for prepaid gas against my wishes. We returned the vehicle with 3/4 tank of gas and the attendant seemed surprised when I told him what the customer service rep had told me. I called the company two days later to dispute the charge. They refused to waive the fee and offered me a 20% off coupon. I wont be needing it though. This was my first and last time doing business with Advantage Rent a Car.

These poor reviews are truly shocking to me. We had the worst flight into Charlotte that you could imagine. When we left Oklahoma City it was raining and storming so we had to pack everything up in the pouring rain. The airline lost our luggage, my shoe broke, and my baby had a massive diaper blowout on the flight. Needless to say, we were completely worn out and downtrodden as we headed for the rental car kiosk. Miss Donna was amazing. she did everything that she could to get us in and out as quickly as possible. She asked how our flight into Charlotte was and after I told her how horrible it was she offered us a complimentary upgrade. In my 10-minute interaction with her I could tell that she truly cares about people and was compassionate about her job. The return was so easy and so fast.

I was very nervous about renting from Advantage after reading the numerous highly negative reviews. My last car rental experience (with another company) was a disastrous experience I had no desire to repeat. However, I had already paid for the rental and it was nonrefundable so I decided to go ahead and see what happened. I am happy to say, I was treated well by the lady at the Advantage counter in the Charlotte, NC airport location. Everything went smoothly. I was a little late getting the car back to the airport, but called ahead and they were very understanding. When I dropped off the car, in a bit of a hurry to catch my flight, the staff were very understanding and helpful in getting me out of there quickly. Thank you Advantage for highly exceeding my low expectations.

  • Volodymyr Drobot

If I were able to give them a negative score, I woukd have done it in a heartbeat. I arranged a rental with them at Charlotte airport via Priceline. I entered my flight number and the approximate time I will pick the car up. Everything went without any problems until an hour and a half before the pickup. Then they called me while I was sitting on the tarmac in Detroit ready for the takeoff and informed me that they are closing for the day, and my reservation is cancelled. My flight was supposed to arrive ar 10:30 PM and was on time. They also told me that there are a bunch of other companies at the airport I can rent from. Well, when I arrived, no one but AVIS had a car available, and it costed me $160 more per one day. Bottom line: never rent from this company.

  • Ash T

I made a reservation online. Which when I went to pick up the car it was no issues. I like the fact that only thing you need to book with a debit card is an extra 200 (refundable)and your roadtrip ticket. The agent was friendly. Only thing I had to wait for the car to be clean, because she booked a dirty car. Not sure if that was the only compact car available (which she didnt say) if it wasnt I don't know why I couldn't get something already available and be on my way. So the wait to get the car was the only issue, other than that I would definitely rent from them again. Also online you can save if you prepay early, but that's only with a credit card no debit =(

LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. There's no clear marking on where to park at CLT airport. I stopped where the signage said to stop. After getting out, getting my luggage out the car and walking up to counter to return the keys the customer service rep told me I need to bring the car up to the desk. How are customers supposed to know that without signage? Every car rental place there has exact signage and comes to your car to retrieve keys. They threatened to charge me if I didn't go back to the car and bring it to where they told me to. Again no signs to notify the customer. Also don't threaten customers with any type of action if you want to stay in business.

  • Angelia

Upon arrival the car had trash and crumbs. The back trunk would not open and had to be open physically. The passenger seat beat was squeaking the entire trip. It was incredibly annoying. The windshield wipes were awful. Every time it downpour the car had to be pull over due to the cheap and worn out wipers. And a day before returning the car, the tire pressure indicated low air. One thing after another. Horrible!!! I was anxious the entire time I drove the car. CRAZY!!!! Orbit stated my total was going to be $280, grand total can to $480. How I have no idea . Never got my $200 deposit upon return !!!!

  • Cindy Vivlamore

I was pleasantly surprised at the upgrade of vehicle I received; I was supposed to get a Yaris or something like it and I got a 21 RAV4. The inside counter wasn't being manned at the time of my arrival at the airport so I had to go to the return center in the garage to get my car. Not a big deal. The vehicle was clean but the only thing was there was no windshield washer fluid - wasn't good when I was having trouble seeing through the windshield because of dirt splatter. Other than that, nice friendly customer service and extremely easy to return. I would definitely rent from them again.

  • Amy Coleman

Worst experience!!!!!! we we're rented a gross dirty car, booger stuck to the window, bumper falling off cigarette burn in the super stained seats smelled dirty looked dirty, unacceptable and paid over 30$ dollars a day for 5 days. Bad customer service. The car was in bad shape they don't take care about there cars and they don't care about the customer. It's a ripoff and the didn't have something else to give is. Do not go through this company. Trust this review.... it not right what there getting away with. I have video and pictures from the day we picked it up decide for your self.

  • Bobby Rosenquist

Doing a one way rental so not many options to choose. Rental had less than 1/2 tank. Was told 2 options.. wait for them to fill it up and bring back(it's 10:30pm so late) or just bring it back w 1/4 tank. Notation on paperwork by their agent showing that. Dropped off car 12hrs later in Raleigh w 1/2 tank. More than required. Showed papers and explained to Raleigh about fuel. When I get home, had a $119 fuel charge. Now dealing w customer service to remove charges, whom I can barely understand. Car itself was nice but smelled like wet cat and had cat hair in the vehicle.

* BE AWARE RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE* I advised the sales person not Antonio but the other gentleman that, that car wasn’t what we reserved and also car had issues, he said sorry that’s all we have available so unless you upgrade and pay more money, car shaking on highway, engine light on, they ask me to drive the car to drop off spot another 30 miles away, it will be ok if something happens we won’t charge you, what a joke, Please stay away because if you don’t have their insurance they charge you for the car when it breaks. Good Luck If You Rent From Them.

  • Dee Sam

I was very hesitant after reading the reviews, paranoid even, but it was last minute & I wanted to save a lil money. So I took a chance at CLT Airport. Feb.26. The manager Calvin was great. Very helpful & made sure I was good. I was in and out in 10 minutes in a brand new Toyota Rav4. I will definitely use their service again. I saw somewhere in a review about hidden fees. There were none. Just a deposit for incidentals, which u get back. Just book ur pickup and return times as accurately as possible as late returns accrew additional fees as it should.

I absolutely LOVE renting from Advantage! Been in Charlotte 3 weeks and have made it my business to rent strictly from them every week! Great rates, the cars are always clean and smell good. The staff is AMMAZING and make sure you're taken care of every step of the way. From checking in with the hardest working man in Charlotte to picking up the keys with Ms Kim, they make sure to answer any and all questions I had and explain in DETAIL their polices and procedures. I would definitely recommend using this company for your Charlotte car rental needs!

  • Joy Knight

The young man at the counter was very courteous and polite. I was late picking up the car due to a delayed flight. He assisted me by advising the reservation may not be there but he would look. “No worries I found it and your all good!” He was professional and while assisting me the line was growing. He acknowledged everyone on line and advised he would be with them all shortly and thanked them for their patience. When we reached upstairs to retrieve the car the young lady was also very attentive, professional friendly. Overall great experience!!!

  • Chad Cole

I reserved a full size car. I was told no full size cars are ready and asked if I wanted a compact. Most other companies offer upgrades when they are at fault or don't meet their end of the reservation. Not Advantage!! You get to wait or down grade. So I waited for about 30 minutes. The upstairs staff are RUDE and very unhelpful. They think everyone should know their way around that location and all of their processes. They almost refuse to come out of their little office building. I've had bad experiences with Advantage before, just be cautious.

  • Dadrian Brown

DO NOT rent from this place. They will try anything to get more money out of you. Never inspected my vehicle before renting the car. Returned the car and was charge $250 for smoke smell. Absolutely no smell but that of an air freshener. Just ridiculous! Management was very rude and unaccommodating. (Picture below)-filled up a few miles away from airport, charged $25 for this oversight. Make sure to check your rental and report ANY AND EVERYTHING or they will charge you extra and make you responsible! Just shameful Advantage

  • MICHAEL David

I've never had such good service in regards to renting a car. I landed at Charlotte Douglas Airport desperately needing a vehicle but didn't have much time. I explained my situation to a gentlemen there by the name of Calvin and he made everything happen quickly and seemlesy. Not only was he very informative but was also very polite throughout the whole process. I travel for business very frequently and will be sure to use Advantage from now on. Im only hoping that all of Advantages employess are as helpful as Calvin

I recently had an opportunity to rent a car from Advantage Rent A Car at CLT airport. I was very skeptical at first as I have not seen or heard this company. But the cars and services provided to me changed that opinion. Customer service rep was very friendly, didn't push or up-sell unnecessary items. Car was a newer model, ultra clean. No hassle pick up or drop off. The daily rate was much better than the other car rentals. I would recommend Advantage Car Rental. Try it out if you get an opportunity.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I had a reservation in which it clearly states “unlimited miles”, however when I got to the counter at the scheduled time the agent tells me that because I have a local DL I would only get 150 miles for free, and that they would charge me for each additional mile driven. Needless to say this did not fit in my travel plans, had to cancel this reservation last minute and go somewhere else. Save yourself some headaches and blacklist this company.

Worst experience ever DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT RENT from this CAR RENTAL got there had to wait at least 40 minutes. Got to the car and it was dirty the carpet was stuck w a candy the cup holder were dirty . My family member has 2 kids and you can only imagine kids like touching everything. It was a mission to connect my phone to the Bluetooth. Lastly they ended up charging an extra 60$ On my card . I call and no explanation whatsoever of why they did this.

Had a stellar experience at Advantage Rent a Car at Charlotte Douglas International airport. Despite this summer winding down and last minute travelers wanting to work the last few weeks of vacation in post Covid, they were very efficient in handling my request and their lines seem to be moving along faster than everyone else’s at the car rental counter. This was my first time renting and I will definitely be renting from advantage rent a car again!

  • Nasir Naqvi

Fraudulent business, extremely poor service. They charged me $60 on return when I prepaid for the car already. On inquiry, they said I returned the car with empty fuel and that was on a contract. I never return car with empty tank and fill it by myself on return. It was the first time renting with them. I use to rent with Hertz, Budget and never have these issues. Advantage is too bad and fraudsters. Stay away from this rental company.

Went to pick up my car after getting off my flight. I had booked on Hotwire weeks prior and was told there was not a car available to me because I used a third party site and I’d have to be on a wait list. The lady at the counter said if I had purchased directly I wouldn’t be on a wait list- thanks a lot. Advantage, Maybe you shouldn’t make yourselves available to book through a third party- thanks for wasting a single mother’s time.

  • Ebony Nelson

Read the fine print better yet don’t even rent from these people. My flight got delayed 2 hours. I didn’t know they cancel your reservation after 3 hours. After your rate is an 3 times double a day almost messed up my travel plans. It’s bootleg and ghetto don’t even book. Atleast if you reserve with a major company they will hold your reservation for 24 hours. I gave a star because I had to.

Not even got the car yet but will pay $200 more for any other company Poor misdirected signage at CL and now 45 minutes into wait for key pick up... they have all My info and payment- assumed would be auto pick up of key not this!! Only 3 people in front of me at arrival, but one desk clerk, no mask bu the way, and taking forever He needs help and to learn efficiency.... this is nonsense

  • Ahmose

Rental car pickup was at 7am. Only one employee working handling both car returns and pickups. Waited in line 30 minutes behind two customers and they announced that they were out of cars and waiting on cars to return. Finally got to the front of the line and was told there was an additional $20 per day fee for unlimited miles. I immediately canceled the rental and booked with Alamo.

Stay away from this rent a center, i waited an hour for the car and when i was going to pay they came up with hidden charges. After I spoke to a representative about bringing in my car 2 hours later with out extra charge and she told me I get a 4 hour grace period without a charge, but when I got there they charged me for a full day. These people are really unprofessional!!!!!!!

Had a great, smooth rental from Advantage last weekend. We arrived in around midnight, and despite the late hour everyone who helped us was ready to assist, extremely friendly, and accommodating. We've had some nightmare, late-arrival rental experiences, and renting from Advantage was quite the opposite! Thank you for making our trip so pleasant and straightforward!

This is a small regional car rental agency with big time customer service and quality clean vehicles. They have some of the best daily rates in the Charlotte area. The pick-up and drop-off was quick, fast, and easy. If you are traveling in the Charlotte area and need a vehicle for travel in North and South Carolina, you should really consider this small agency!!!

  • Alicia Chaffee

It was supposed to be at the airport, but they sidled me to the middle of no where. I was supposed to have a 2pm pick up time at 5 they finally tried to give me a car that wouldn’t even drive. The emergency brake the oil light and the check engine light were all stuck on. Then they refused to help rectify this situation. Never rent from these scammers!!!!

There were 3 agents in the booth, only one was working. There was 8 people in front of me and it took over an hour to make it to the front. There were no cars so we all had to wait and when I did reach the front the car I rented was not available so I had to take a lesser. car. This is the second bad experience with Advantage and it is the last one.

  • Lori B

Horrible customer service. I returned the car. The lady did a walk around. She said it was fine and signed off on my return.. A half hour later I got a phone call saying the windshield was damaged. After disputing it with the claims adjuster for 6 months I am now liable. Clearly the walk around upon return by the Advantage employee means nothing.

  • Jeff Lindvall

Its just worth it to spend the extra money at a reputable company. Slow service. The counter set me up for FPO (which allows the customer to return at half tank) and then at the counter in the garage they changed me to a different car and didnt include the FPO so was billed at 8.99 a gallon when i returned it on a half tank.

  • Wesley Mays

Our flight got canceled and was not going to leave until late the next day. The customer service representative was very accommodating and was able to get us a rental car so we could get home. The car was in great shape and the whole experience was great. Would definitely be renting a car with you next time.

  • Ken Pietrzycki

Had a really positive experience with Advantage thanks to their care and proactive help in resolving a major mechanical issue. Kim Carter, the Manager at the Orlando location took the time to bring the issue to resolution and get me on my way. Would definitely use Advantage again and recommend them highly.

  • Barbara Minihan

I will not rent from them again. The agent was very unfriendly and unhelpful. She led us to believe the car we had rented was tiny. She didn’t make the extra charges clear. We upgraded to a bigger car and saw the original car. It would have been great! We ended up paying $100 more than we had planned.

  • PUNEET CHATURVEDI

They over charges for rental and hide it under the contract. Worst car rental service ever. I booked the car for a day less $100 but ended up paying $300 just a for a day. They deduct the amount from the deposit money and service agent so annoying was not listening to complaint at all.

  • Adina Howard

This was my first time using Advantage and I was pleasantly surprised. Booking a vehicle with them was last minute due to an unforeseen situation. They were courteous, professional, and affordable considering the major events that were taken place that weekend. I definitely recommend.

  • my gypsy

This was my first time renting with Advantage, and it was a good experience. The staff was super nice on both ends. Upon return they refunded my deposit immediately, before I was finished unloading my stuff, so I was able to check my email for the refund before leaving the car.

  • Madiha Ahmed

This was my first time renting and it was pretty smooth! Initially there was some miscommunication about the optional insurance but when I contacted the Ms. Kim she was incredibly helpful and was able to get things straightened out easily. I look forward to using them again!

  • Donna Sisak

First time to use Advantage Rentals. We found the car price much cheaper for the same size car than the other rental agencies, It was clean, fairly new and got us up and down the Blueridge mountains without any problems. We will be using Advantage on our next trip.

  • Laura Murphy

Thank you Advantage for your kind, sympathetic service after our canceled flight left us stranded in Charlotte! We were looking at a two day delay otherwise. Donna is a gem, and we got home safe and sound thanks to Advantage (we also LOVED the car!)

  • joan bauerlein

Advantage Rent a Car offered a significant savings over all the other rental companies. In addition, it was the best rental car I've ever had! Their kiosk is inside the CLT terminal and easy to access. The associates were pleasant and helpful.

  • Himanshu Mani

If you want to stay out of trouble, never ever go to advantage rent a car. They will rob you with all of your money and their staff (bunch of liars) who will be very nice to you at the desk when you pick up your car and will tell you about

  • Kristoffer Svendsen

The worst rental experience I have ever had. If you think about renting a car from CLT, just make sure you do not get close to Advantage Rent A Car. The one staff I talked to was the rudest staff I have ever met at CLT. If you want to play

  • Brenden See

Lady at the counter was very friendly. The car that we had been assigned was terrible it was badly beaten up had severe rattling all over and the AC smelt like urine. When I told the gentleman that the car looked like it hadn't been clean

  • Dolly Herron

My family arrived in Salt Lake City after a full day of travel, tired, and ready to get to our hotel. We took the hot shuttle bus to Advantage, and arrived to see 20-25 people sitting around the tiny office. We were told that they "had no

  • Shanna Wiles

Placed the order for the rental car as we were on a plane headed to the gate. Ended up having to wait an hour and a half on the plane. Text Advantage to check in and they text me back directions on where to stand for the shuttle to pick

  • Izabel Garcia

The service clerk was clearly taking advantage of me and my little knowledge on car rentals. I ended up paying $250 additional to my original rental of $160. I thought that was bad but then I went upstairs to collect the keys and the 3

  • Mark Tye

Booked car and insurance on Hot Wire. Attendant immediately applies pressure to buy additional insurance through Advantage. Charged $200 deposit which was not mentioned anywhere. Signed up for and economy car got a dinged up mini van.

  • Mike

Awesome in-person staff at the Charlotte, NC location. Terrible back of the house. Call center unable to do much of anything. Charging a different card incorrectly. Charging cards multiple times. Charging different prices than what is

  • Vasuki Pasumarty

The Advantage attendants were great and helped me get my car asap. The vehicle was in almost perfect condition and returning it was seamless. I will definitely use Advantage again. Thanks so much!

Terrible way to do business!! Should be disadvantage rental car. I made reservations 2 months before I traveled to Charlotte-Douglas airport. I arrived at 10:30 PM and was told they didn't

  • Alex Stink

Charlotte Airport. I rented a car thru Hotwire and paid in full. I reserved a 9 am pickup time and 10 am (next day) dropoff. My flight was early. I went to the counter and told
