If I could marry a bakery I would marry Agnes Bakery. So delicious- first time having it, I went back 4 times in the same week. Each time it’s hard to leave with less than 6 of a good selection of savoury and sweet. They do weekly specials so always new flavours- you’ll get sad that some of your favs aren’t there but the beauty of it is that you get to fall in love with a new pastry. Everything is so balanced and the sweets are never TOO sweet (v important LOL). Also if you had to pick one savoury I’d pick the flat looking puff pastry thing (it’s godly) AND their chicken sandwich. Kouigh Amanns probs spelt that wrong but w/e is delicious- should definitely pick every flavour to try but if you HAD to pick one get the custard, if two then also get one with berry in it ugH divine. Donuts also so deeelicious- donuts themselves are moist and soft, the creams they use are always softly flavoured, not too sweet and just so yum. Like I’m not even a big donut fan but THESE donuts fam. Danishes you could skip if you already got like 3 kouigh amanns but I don’t recommend doing so since they’re pretty and gram worthy so just get it w/e. Also the cheese tart and banofee Tarte in the fridge is good. Coffee is good too. Nuff said really, I’d marry this bakery. Doesn’t help that it’s only like 10 mins drive away, somehow always find myself in front of it before the morning brain has even started functioning properly ugh.
Had to stop going here as I was spending approximately $100-$150 a week and a stupid amount of money on their bakery items each week for months on end. Get in early if you want first pick of what's on offer as things sell out fast. You have to get there at 7am when they open. Don’t bother ringing as they don’t answer their phone. They are pricey but unique and way better than Sprout across the road especially with serving customers in order of arrival. Unfortunately several of my favourite items that they did during lockdowns and since lockdowns ended, (like their bitter chocolate tart and was quite large compared to the tiny chocolate and caramel one they suddenly changed it to yet charge the same price when it’s half the size) aren’t being made anymore so beware that they change the menu often. Annoyingly, their best product- the pithivier, has also been discontinued. After not visiting for almost a year, I discovered today that their menu has changed DRASTICALLY. I struggled to find anything of interest that I wanted to buy, that was different to what you’d see at all other artisan bakeries. On that basis I’ve downgraded my review from 5 stars to 4. Have to agree with another reviewer that the amount of flies in the display cabinets became quite off putting. They’re making bank enough to warrant addressing this. Please bring back the pithiviers so that I don’t have to make them at home.
Went in around midday but was surprised that there were still quite a few options left to choose from. I was quite lost being a first timer, but the staff did a good job on providing some recommendations. I wanted to try everything; it was so difficult to decide - the abundance of flavours are more unique compared to other pastry stores. However, I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I would be. I did find the pastry a bit dry, flavours were average, but would give it another shot next time as well as their other desserts! Also, I wasn’t given an oil sheet underneath, so the oil seeped through the cardboard box.
Oh my wowsers. Agnes certainly lived up to the hype! The potato and rosemary danish had the perfect crunch and balance of cream cheese, slight hints of garlic. Absolutely divine! The fig and pear danish was beautifully balanced in flavours. The almond and custard kouign amann was soft and bouncy without being too rich. To top it off, we had a walnut brownie which was moist without being too rich, as well as a salted caramel choux which was simply divine! Everything was made to perfection. Coffee was average, but they don't promote that as their staple, so not bothered.
Had some bread at a friend's place from Agnes Bakery, & just had to have some more! Drove over half an hour to get it, but so worth it in my opinion. The flavour in their baguettes is unmatched. Wood fired cooking is just so unique. Had a donut & another of their sweet treats, & loved it all. Obviously we won't be regulars because of where we live, but can see us dropping in when we are in the city. Great staff who were friendly & helpful seals this as a bakery every one should try..... if you like bread that is!
Arguably, Brisbane’s finest. The pastries are of exceptional quality, and the quality is consistently high every time you visit. The espresso is thick and creamy. Despite long queues, the staff work efficiently to ensure you don’t have to wait any longer than you need to for exactly what you are after. A real gem.

Had driven past many times and seen lines out the door so I had high expectations but Agnes did not disappoint. What a gorgeous bakery, I came in whilst it was empty and the lovely woman who served me was so kind and helpful explaining their range of pastries. I went with the Apple Crumble Danish and it was perfect, I simply couldn’t fault it. Returned in 2023 in the early afternoon and sadly wasn’t too fresh, about a 4/5. Ham, fermented chilli and gruyere croissant was delicious though!
Went on a wed morning given all the good reviews. The queue was short and I ordered a few items. The service wasn’t the most welcoming. I m excited for the pastries yet disappointed. The croissant and the cardamom bread are stale and like a day old. I went there at 7am wishing for fresh baked pastries. Banana bread tastes like a vanilla pound cake lacking aroma of bananas and so oily. Absolutely no point for the hype and high priced items. Don’t waste your money here, not recommended.
I want to like these guys because I can see where they are going and the restaurant meals are delish but the smoked sourdough is very one-note after a while, the gluten-free is mega heavy, and every other bread is usually sold out by mid morning. The pastries are too glazed, oversweetened, too much gelatine so the recipes hold in the summer but makes for sort of gummy textures. Still keep going back to Danny’s bakery after trying others.
This bakery is simply out of this world- everything I tried there, be it hot cross buns, pastries, breads, sandwiches… they are all wonderful. Every time I go to Brisbane I would try and come here- it does get a bit crazy during holiday seasons like Easter, however their stuff is worth it! The staff members are ever so patient with the customer, knowing that it’s really hard to choose when there are so many yummy stuff!!!
We made the choice to pop in 'off peak' and we're thrilled! Easy park, no mad queues, the staff were buzzing and exceptionally sweet and bubbly (young man with a mullet was a joy) we got some fresh rolls, donuts and quite frankly one of the best danish-ishes that I've eaten from around the world...pear and friends! The oven was pumping the tunes were gorgeous and we can't wait to go back! This is worth the drive!
My partner just grabbed some pastries at Agnes, which were ok, but she was treated really badly by the girl serving her. It was busy I get that, but being rude while we are paying that amount of money and supporting the business isn’t good at all. Obviously the girl behind the counter would say that we are wrong but apparently we are not the only ones having this kind of problem..
Got in pretty late on a Saturday afternoon so there weren't that many options left. I ordered the burnt Basque cheesecake, the impossible cake and a white chocolate mousse donut. I could eat the burnt Basque cheesecake on a daily on basis for the rest of my life and be grateful. The donut and cake weren't as good in comparison and fairly average though.
The potato Danish and fig tart was really nice. Flavours were well balanced, not overly sweet and well balanced. I recommend coming early to avoid the long line. I recommend Agnes to have more signs for each item they sell. It's a bit hard to know what to order just looking at the menu at the counter. This would reduce the waiting time when ordering.
2 stars go to the delicous coffees and 2 lovely baristas. We had a lamb roll, a plain croissant and a chilli ham cheese croissant. Sorry they're just... shockingly below average for how much they cost. A bit strange service from a lady that took our order who missed out on one of our coffees... Thank you for the coffees that saved our experience tho.
I can’t pay for cash for a $15 sandwich. Really? Cash is legal tender and excluding this form of payment ridiculous. Fair enough if you don’t keep change but should be able to pay in cash. Banks charge 1.5% surcharge which is avoided if I pay cash. Cashless companies are on my avoid list. Staff were really rude and didn’t even cut the $15 sandwich.
This was amazing, the food was so fresh, soft, and flavourful. Will so be going here again, please stop by if you’re in Brisbane or going cause it’s so worth it.

Bought the most delicious array of pastries :-) Service was fantastic and everything was really yum. Highly recommend the passion fruit/marshmallow and bacon kouign amann as well as the fig/honey choux. Some of the pastries are quite heavy so might be a good idea to share :-) And no long 2 hour queue this time :D Will be back!!
Pastries were good and priced well for the quality. There is a long queue in the morning and they sell out fast, so expect to wait a little but it’s worth it. Reason why I am scoring 4 is because the coffee was pretty bad but then again, this place doesn’t boast their coffee, rather their pastries and doughnuts.
Well have been wondering what is all about this queue everyday front of the shop. Today I understood that it was well worth to wait to get some goodies. we ordered zucchini stracchino, chocolate milk+caramel+sesame chox and basque cheesecake. They are all yummy in their different essence . Well done …
I've been here twice. I give 4 stars because a point was removed from personal preference dissatisfaction. The baked cheesecake was delicious (pictured in photo), yet the Danish was slightly dissapointing. The pastry was perfect, yet the filling was more of a cream than a custard which I did not enjoy.
The smoked potato sourdough is probably the best tasting bread I’ve ever had in my life - I love the smoky flavour and the texture is amazing. Fantastic toasted for brunch with bacon / smoked salmon and eggs or equally good served fresh with lashings of good quality butter / olive oil!
Ordered the raspberry donut. A bit pricy, but the service was nice. It was quick. The staff are nice. The aesthetic of the place does stand out a lot. I would recommend going if you’re visiting brisbane. The bakery is a bit pricy. But the options varies so there’s a lot to choose from!
Both savoury and sweet pastries were delicious. They were light, flaky, and had amazing fillings! Coffee was good as well! Will definitely go back.

Yesterday afternoon I bought two burgers ate one today, then I realized the second burger had lots of maggots laid on the inside of the burger when I opened it. Luckily, I haven't taken a bite and had taken the bun off to notice the maggots. I hope you can improve to avoid this.
The bakery does great food and presents the pastry well. We went to the bakery today to get a couple of things. The only problem was there was heaps of flies in the display cabinet all over the food. If you have a good product kinda pays to practice good hygiene.
The recipes have changed and are no longer as good as they use to be. Croissants aren't as buttery, but I guess bread is still decent. Mustard with straciatella is AWFUL - completely ruins the cheese. Also incredibly expensive. Very sad we won't be coming back.
Whenever I came to here, there were a long queue. Finally today I can visit at there! I waited just 5min to enter. I ordered basque cheesecake, chocolate chou and zucchini danish. All of them are tasty I really enjoyed❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’ll definitely come again!! …
Quality and selection has dropped. There was even a fly trapped with the pastries that they didn’t bother trying to remove.

Wow! Blown away with quality of good offered her and the service matches the pastries of offer. If you are in or around this establishment don’t think twice and go! If and when I ever go back to Brisbane I’ll be sure to make a detour to this cracker place.
The pastries look great and tasted fine. I enjoyed the sweet caramelised coating of the custard almond kouign amann. We came during lunch on a Thursday and a lot had already sold out but still a decent selection of pastries. Service was quick and fast.
Love their bread with a passion. I drive 40 min for it. The sausage rolls are disappointing. Flaky pastry. But dry and the flavours were overpowering the meat. And, in my opinion over complicating a simple concept. Had both the Lamb and pork for lunch.
This was 1 of the best bakeries in Brisbane. Until they decided not to accept cash anymore. Legal tender. Looks like we will be going to their biggest competitor now instead. Catering for all our team meetings will be from elsewhere too. What a shame.
Generally good pastries but *beware vegans and muslims* … they use the same slicer for their breads as they use to cut ham. Our sliced bread tasted like ham :( don’t get your bread sliced here, just do it at home… had to throw away an expensive loaf
Over priced. The sourdough is only good as toast, it has very little flavour and is soft, not crunchy on the outside.

honestly one of the best sourdough I've ever had in Brisbane! There's always a queue but I can promise you it's worth the wait! Got the sweet potato sourdough and molasses sourdough; along with their cinnamon doughnut and blueberry Danish
I had a painfully average croissant here which was $7 and included a short wait. I don't understand the hype, you can get far better croissants for €1 in France. High price, average quality, long waits. The stuff there is far from terrible
Honestly haven’t branched out too far from my usual mocha doughnut which I think you’ve discontinued, please bring them back!! Although the new blood orange flavour also slaps. The staff have been very kind during each visit. What a team.
So far it is a hit and miss. Everything looks fabulous, but some have come up short in flavour or texture. I believe there is demand for the "burnt" baked cheesecake. I don't get it ! Once I removed all the "burnt " parts, I enjoyed it.
Lots of great options. Not a fan of how the pastries are on display right where everyone is crowding to stand in line without any glass or protective barrier especially during covid. There are pastries down almost as low as your feet.
Croissants are very good, buttery and flaky and you can almost forget you have paid $7 for them. Baguettes are just okay but have a slight smokiness which is a bit off-putting; they're small and not quite of a standard to merit a $7
Beautiful little artisan bakery. Incredible food, great coffee, and wonderful customer service. Some products can sell out quickly, and there can be lines at times. Worth going early, or with a bit of time to spare at peak times.
Carrot cake was to die for. Super moist, texture on point, perfect ratio of walnuts and carrots and spices. Oh and the frosting- not too sweet, creamy and matches the moist cake perfectly. I am so going to miss this stellar cake!
We have been there a few times and the pastry were always yum and delicious. We love the seeded sourdough it’s was full of wooded aroma even our baby girl loved it. A bit on the pricey side but def worth every penny.
Cmon Agnes Bakery, if your croissants get any smaller, they will fit on a postage stamp. They used to be a decent size with heaps of ham in them. Don't rip off locals customers that frequent your store almost weekly.
the bread was exceptional, but leaving 5 stars just for the woman who served me this morning. she was a ray of sunshine. i was having a pretty rough day but her kindness and warmth was wonderful to experience :)
I love their cakes specially the carrot cake. It is not so sweet and the texture is just perfect! Their prices are very reasonable compared to other artisans bakeries . I will definitely come back to buy more.
A freshly baked bread. Our favourite was mortadella+ Zuni pickle + stracciatella. The baked goods were well baked, soft and crusty. The croissant was also flakely. Would come back to try different baked goods
Due to my lifestyle and poor choices, I'm never here early enough to enjoy the full selection of sandwiches. But it's never a poor choice to eat here. I'd commit at least a misdemeanour for a free one.
So delicious! I went late in the afternoon on a Sunday. There were still a number of great options available (and only a small queue). The zucchini treat was incredible, and the doughnuts... so good.
It may be small, but Agnes Bakey is big on its delicious woodfired offerings. Stunning soughdough bread and some of the best pastries in town. Those Kouign-amann delights are out of this world!
Definitely a must try bakery in Brisbane! The Custard & Almond Kouign Amann was outrageously delicious with the caramelisation on top, and the potato danish was beautifully balanced and flaky.
Lovely coffee! Very unimpressive staff though, while we were waiting they were all casually chatting about their weekend antics and ignoring the customers, didn’t seem happy to serve anyone.
I was going to sprout bakery but i go to agnes , Worst service and welcoming , I ordered custard danish and the Asian girl gave me some with pork and onions. Not coming again..
I went as the basque cheesecake was recommended on a blog. Definitely not impressed with either cheesecake or the almond croissant. Wouldn't recommend going out of my way to try this!
Just popped in a got a supposed to be a egg goddess no egg inside just some tasteless yellow slice , flavour not good , paid 15.00 for it what a rip off never go back chucked it out …
The best bakery youll ever see in Brisbane. Service isnt great tho, but always goes back please try their focaccia

Everything i try from this place is just unbelievably tasty!!!! Perfection!!! I can't even name just a few of the items i tried because everything is perfect! Cant wait to go back..
We ordered the pork sausage roll and ham and cheese croissant. Croissant was okay nothing special but the sausage roll pastry was disgustingly oily and way too mustard heavy.
The most outrageously good pastries I have had in so long. The Kouign Amann are out of this world and an absolute MUST. Check out @sixfootandsalty for more food reviews.
Walked a long way to check out this bakery after being told about it and they don’t accept cash. Choquette is my new favourite! They do an amazing job and accept cash
Not worthy... So disappointed with the baguette! One slice of prosciutto and cheese and some mustard for $13. There was not love at all. I can do it better at home.
Always great tasting pastries from Agnes. My only con that people don’t mention, is the flies that come in to the store and that all the food is exposed to them :(
Great Pastries, Terrible Coffee….! Brush up on your customer service, it goes a long way. I know it’s artisan, but there is a lot of burnt bread in the window.
just delicious! smoked potato sourdough is a must, as is the miso and cheddar kouign amann! can't wait to come back and try absolutely everything else :)
Omg. O.M.G. it was so good. I felt like I was cheating on my partner. Omg. Will be going back as soon as possible. Coffee was surprisingly good.
Goes without saying that the produce is sensational. The queues are a killer so would recommend visiting outside of peak times (no weekends!).
It is my first time been this bakery and they have the best sourdough I have ever had. I absolutely will visit there again and try others

This place is way too dangerous - so many delicious eats, both savoury and sweet! Would totally recommend for any lover of baked goods!
Delicious baked goods. Little bit of a wait in line but it moved quickly, definitely worth the wait though. Coffee was also delicious.
The bread looked very well done (almost burnt looking) and food seemed quite expensive. Walked out empty handed.

Maybe it’s a one off but this was the worst pizza I have ever had. I understand that this is wood fired but it was inedible.
Intended to share with the family but ended up eating them all. Pop in early for a coffee and a pastry fresh out the oven!
Customer service could do with some work and the coffee is a bit meh. But the selection of baked goods look cool.
Month of visit: November 2023 First time trying here, wow i thought CJ was already the best and most expensive
Absolutely beautiful baked goods. Top quality pastry and amazing selection of flavours. Gorgeous bread as well.
3 times visit thankfully not only donuts left surprisingly love the cheesey danish! Will go again! …
Best bakery in Brisbane! Savoury and sweet pastries are sensational! Must visit if you haven’t tried!
Wanted a plain croissant and received a brioche bread. They're good in bread, not much in pastries.
I want travel back to Brisbane just for their pastries!! The danishes were just heavenly
Cafe was not overly busy and yet we waited 40 minutes for our sausage roll. Crazy
I live 45 minutes away... Worth the drive! Everything is delicious!
Epic. Staff were lovely. Sausage roll was so good!
