Absolutely terrible customer service, wasted an hour of our time by not turning up and never apologised for doing so. Utterly unprofessional. For those interested, details below: We arrived to view a property ten minutes before the appointment time, after the office had confirmed the viewing an hour earlier. There were no signs anywhere indicating that the house was being let. When the time of the appointment rolled around there was no sign of the agent from Alexander May. We called the office to confirm we were at the correct address (we were). The office said the agent should be there because they "left the office ages ago". We were told to wait as he should arrive imminently, or may already be inside the property. Ten minutes after the appointment time, there was still not sign of the agent. We call the office again, who said they would try to get hold of them. When they get back to us, we were informed that traffic had caused the agent to be late and that they were just around the corner. We had just driven across from the same part of town with zero issues, and knew that there was minimal traffic. We were informed that the agent was two minutes away, so told them we would wait another five before we left (we had another viewing to go to). Five minutes pass, no sign of anyone, so we leave. We never received any followup phone call, either to rebook or simply apologise. Dire!

We had previously had our house on the market with the a top competitor for over 3 months without much interest and low offers below our asking price, after switching to Alexander May Clifton we our choice of offers above the asking price I’m the first week. Unfortunately our chain fell through but Alexander May again got us 3 first time buyers to choose from 2 days after this happened with exceptional offers above asking price. Huge thanks to Paul, Sarah and the team as they have been extremely helpful throughout going above and beyond to not only get offers but complete in record time with constant updates and overall excellent service. Highly recommend using the Clifton branch and do ask for Sarah to do vieiwngs she is fantastic!

Overall Alexander May were ok. They didn’t communicate as often as perhaps they should have but I recognise that this was because of covid. However, where they really fell short was on the day we completed. I didn’t hear anything from them and once we got the ok from the solicitor we went to get the keys only to find the office locked. I rang the Clifton branch who didn’t know anything and just said the person in that day was on a viewing but should be back soon. This was obviously massively stressful. Again I recognise that this was staff shortage because of covid but if you’d called me in the morning to explain the office might be locked and given me the mobile number of the person working, it would have been fine.

I had several issues resulting from the landlord not fulfilling their duties and providing inadequate heating and showering facilities. Once the concern was escalated to the director, Rob Mamuda, he conducted a thorough investigation. He found on the side of the tenant which in all of my years of renting I have never come across. It is good to know that the person in charge is ethical and honest. He stated 'landlords must provide safe and adequate accommodation. If they are not prepared to do so then we must part ways'. On integrity alone I would recommend Robs agency. The letting industry has a poor reputation and for valid reasons, the director of this agency can be trusted.

I am writing to voice my positive experience with the Clifton branch of Alexander May Estate Agents. Although I have approached and met with several other estate agents, Alexander May stood out because they were not only very professional but also very empathetic to my situation. Before I even selected them, my questions were answered over the phone so this gave me a peace of mind. I now have found a property that suits me and the entire process was virtually stress free! They were friendly, very knowledgeable and really cared about my move. Terrible experience trying to sell my house. Three months with basically "oh lets see if someone puts an offer" was all the advice they had on trying to sell. As soon as I went and did work on trying to get it staged they suddenly said they could do virtual staging etc to help sell it after i asked every week for 3 months what we could do to help sell it. They rental department wasn't too bad but would not recommend selling through them.

Matt helped us to rent out our home while we moved abroad. It was our first time being a landlord and dealing with the relatively complicated case. Matt is very professional was great helping us mitigate through the situation including assessing the market condition and producing a good appraisal, arranging the viewings, discussions with our tenants, as well as helping us to preparing the house prior to the start day. As a first-time tennant I had many questions and uncertainties. The girls and guys at the Clifton office of Alexander May have been really kind taking care to help me through the entire process with ease. Even dealing swiftly and smoothly with unusual and unforseen circumstances. They've been really friendly and professional throughout, I'd highly recommend them to anyone renting or letting.

Moved into a “professionally cleaned” house, found toenail clippings and other rubbish littered throughout the rooms, our basic requests and complaints at the beginning of the tenancy were met with the response “it isn’t a luxury property”. Found bugs in a mattress, mentioned this and never heard anything back. Overall their conduct was slow and unprofessional.
