Horrible experience (s). Booked a winter tune up appointment for my E-Bike conversion. Had an in length conversation, in person with veteran sales staff, ordered specific parts (studded tires, metallic brake pads etc.) so they would be there on time - 3 week wait for service. While there I bought high end grips, and lock and some other small accessories. The high end grips were missing a specific nut and won’t lock on the bike as they should. Not their problem, maybe you can call them for warranty. Bring my bike in 3 weeks later, and now after this very detailed and in person conversation I had regarding exactly what I want done, can’t be performed due to a very hard company policy. Not to mention, all the parts I ordered, were never ordered. So glad you mentioned that 3 weeks later. No empathy at all. Condescending staff and the”manager” they got to help wasn’t very sure on anything in his store. Only positive was that he mentioned Corydon Cycle and Red Lion are amazing and offer little to know waits to book. Took me a3 weeks of waiting, $40 plus tax on wasted grips, 1.5 hours of driving and and 30 minutes in store trying to make sense of how this much incompetence could happen. Funny as hell when he tried to sell me the parts he did have and I would need (no discount even offered)…couldn’t even find his way through his own stock. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I felt compelled to post another review for Alter Ego based on my latest experience. Many businesses could learn a few things on how Alter Ego approaches Customer Service. Commuting to work, I noticed my back tire had a bit of a wobble. When I got to work I checked the rim and tire, but couldn't see the issue. I cleared out some tiny rocks in the tread in hopes that might solve the issue for the ride home. Alas it did not. Riding home, I decided to swing by and have the bike assessed and schedule an appointment for service. I know it's "go time" at the store with summer in full swing, so getting in right away would be unlikely. I was greeted with a smile upon entering the store and directed to the service team. a technician quickly assessed the bike and showed me where the tire was starting to delaminate. I asked when I could get in for an appointment and he said he would pause what he was working on to fix the tire now as it was a safety issue. I couldn't be more thankful and appreciative for the care and consideration I was shown. A big thank you to the technicians that helped me out that day.

I haven't owned a bike in thirty years. With the current Covid19 pandemic shutting all the gyms down and social distancing pretty much restricting most group physical activities, 2020 wasn't looking to promising. On top of all of this I just received a "just how important it is to keep active at the age I'm getting to" message during my last visit to my doctors. I figured now it was time to return to an activity I haven't done in many many years. With doctors and nurses putting their lives in harms way and much of the population remaining in isolation at home for their own safety the staff at Alter Ego Sports was hard at work. I had gone in more than once to ask questions, demo bikes and ask more questions all the while staff eagerly welcomed me back, sanitized surfaces I'd need to contact, practice social distancing measures and professionally answer my questions. I was provided with a new bike, gear and accessories that I couldn't be happier with. Which right now is something I truly need because I don't see how in 2020 I would have stayed active/sane without Alter Ego Sports.

I enjoyed my recent shopping experience at Alter Ego Sports. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. I found the bike that I really liked at 10 minutes to closing time. Although, they offered to stay late and let me take it for a test ride, I declined their kind offer. It was very generous of them to then suggest that they put the bike on hold for me for 1 day, so that I could have more time to think about the purchase. When I returned to the store, the staff told me to take as long as I want on my test ride. Alter Ego is located very close to the new rapid transit corridor, so I was able to quickly access a bike path for my ride. I purchased the bike and the store was able to install accessories that same day. Overall, I highly recommend Alter Ego. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they genuinely want you to have a positive shopping experience.

I can't thank the fellas in the service department enough for getting my bike fixed up better than brand new. I had a ruined end of season last year due to a damaged cassette and the upgraded replacement has been amazing. These are the guys I trust with my bike as they fixed all my issues as requested and also provided a detailed explanation of what it would take to upgrade my bike to a 12 speed, which I was considering. Further guidance was provided when I was discussing my seat discomforts. A gentleman measured me for my seat and then after looking at my seat asked about my riding clothing. He suggested a pair of padded riding liners, which have been an absolute game changer for me. Alter Ego is now my go to when it comes to my bikes, thanks again for some top notch service.

I had purchased my first higher end bicycle from alter ego just before the pandemic shut downs. Chris was quick efficient and timely with responses and communication whilst we dealt with the supply shortages etc. Upon receiving the bike, I was given clear and concise instructions of how to care for the bike and the features. Because of this quality customer service, I had my spouses bike serviced as well for the start of this season. I was surprised at the charges being fair and better than expected. The honesty, professionalism and priority of the customers needs and wants are what makes this company shine and stand out from the rest. I will definitely be continuing my business for years to come and purchasing my family’s next bicycles and other sports equipment here.

Went to Alter Ego on July 3rd looking for a bike on a tight budget. I feel the gentleman that works there could have tried harder finding me a bike that would have fit my budget. He looked at his computer screen at bikes in my price range saying that none of them were built which was totally fine but he didn’t show me any bikes that were similar leaving me totally clueless to what these bikes looked like. I left there with no bike and felt undersold. I went across town and found a bike that was in my price range and I couldn’t be happier with it. Best $925 I’ve spent. I’m giving 3 stars because the guy was ok but he could have made a sale if he showed me some bikes.

I rarely deal with people who are like this. Professional, caring, interested and knowledgeable. Many stores sell bikes, sell you whatever. The people here actually listened to what I wanted made intelligent suggestions and were amazing every step of the way. I first went there last fall, to learn what I was going to ride this spring. Again, the level of interest, help and patience was amazing. This spring, I returned and was very happy that I chose to return. They have terrific selection, great prices and the best service. You can buy a bike anywhere, but, very few places will excite you about it! Thank you Heather, you have amazing staff and a terrific business.

I am a loyal customer of Alter Ego Sports, having purchased several bikes and related accessories there. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and patient. Recently, I had a 3D bike fit done by James - prior to the fit, he emailed to ask some exploratory questions so that he could have things ready for when I arrived. The fit was very comprehensive and it was clear that James is very skilled in this area. He offered explanation along the way and welcomed any questions or feedback I had about the process. He followed up shortly after the appointment with my report and some recommendations. Overall, the experience was excellent!

My now go-to bike shop. The prices are fair compared to online retailers and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. ---------- I've had difficulty finding snow goggles with 2 lenses that fit with my glasses and helmet. The staff were willing to let me test fit some goggles, and it made all the difference in finding the right one. ---------- My wheel's bearing was "crunchy" and the rim was warped; I figured I'd be better off simply buying a new wheel. A mechanic quickly opened the bearing and gave me advice on how to maintain it. Thanks to that, I only needed to spend $35 to true the wheel rather than replace it.

I picked up the bike today along with a few other things. I've been to this store now 3 times over the past few weeks and dealt with 4 different employees. The entire experience every single time has been superb. I am very impressed with the professionalism, knowledge, and pleasant demeanour of your employees. I also really appreciate how seriously everyone is taking the whole COVID-19 situation - all the precautions were executed well. This has been the perfect bike buying experience for me and I have been to many different shops in the city. Keep up the great work and I'll definitely be back again!

I love the annual maintenance that is included with bike purchases. Note that it’s now a 50% discount since 2021. I especially like the fact that recommendations on part changes are not driven by spending and that if a part change is not necessary after initial estimation, technicians won't proceed with the change just for the sake of it. My last service was for 3 bikes and despite asking for level 2 service, they decided it wasn’t necessary in my case due to some parts being replaced, so they just charged level 1 price. It is a nice surprise when you see the final bill. Thanks for being honest.

In the last ten years I have purchased two Cervelo bikes and a Wahoo smart trainer from Alter Ego sports. The equipment is superb, the staff are very knowledgeable, the service is great. These people know bikes in a really professional way. My experiences with dealing with Alter Ego have been totally positive, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a bike, or probably any of the other sporting equipment they sell. They are real experts! Just updating, have been dealing with Alter Ego for 15 years. Real experts. Trust them implicitly. Just bought an e-bike for my wife. Excellent service.

Great service and great products. Helped me choose right bike and staff were very helpful when I changed my mind, even when it made it harder for them. I originally bought bike off of trek website thinking this was same as purchasing from the store itself, but that's not the case. If you want a bike give them a call and they'll quickly order one for you if it isn't available at the store. No need for online shopping as this doesn't help a local business out. Glad I purchased my bike there and would recommend to anybody looking for bikes or accessories.

Good experience. I called at store today. The person whom i spoke to was knowledgeable and helpful. I visited the store within 20 minutes and picked up wheels about which we spoke. Order was ready before i showed up in the store although it was not prepaid. I paid after i saw parts with my eyes and checked if it is the one i needed. I will definitely visit again and this time not parts but to get the bike i like. Highly recommend. People who get bikes from Walma*t Canadian Tire etc. will love this place.

My family has shopped here as long as I can remember. I bought my first solid MTB here and countless snowboard accessories, bike parts, etc. My wife's bikes were both purchased here, also my most recent gravel bike purchase. Tune ups are always done efficiently and are fairly priced. Warranty is always honoured without friction. Staff is just incredible. You might catch the owner's cute terrier too! I'll continue to support this exceptional local establishment until, well, forever.

Landon was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He helped me select a snowboard for my daughter that enabled the use of her old bindings. Did not try to up sell anything. Was mindful that I was commuting outside of the city so assembled the board and had it waxed all within a <30 minute timeframe. This is the 2nd snowboard purchase I have made within a year from this store and I won’t go anywhere else. The new location is beautiful with great parking.

I bought my bicycle from here two years ago and I bring it in for servicing every year. The service here is excellent. They're quick and they make sure servicing is done right. Last year they discovered a leak in the hydraulic brakes caused by faulty equipment. Despite being past the one-year warranty, they were able to get a replacement set of breaks for free from the manufacturer. I highly recommend them for all your bicycle needs.

Thank you to Landon & Mike over at Alter Ego for helping us with our snowboarding gear! We showed up many times with a million questions. They were patient, professional and accommodating. It's stressful looking for new equipment, but it's nice that these guys know their stuff and give their honest opinions. I would strongly recommend Alter Ego to anyone!

My e-bike had a major accident, and they spent about 9 months fixing it; coordinating between the carrier company and the bike company ensuring that everything was done right. Amazing. He is fair and reasonable to deal with and will consider my perspective as a customer when repairing my bike. I'm happy to deal with him.

I have bought multiple high end bikes for myself from Alter Ego in the past. Now it was my daughters turn. It was obvious that I’d buy the most important bike I’ve ever bought from the shop I trust the most. They fit her and mechanically went over the bike to make sure it was safe and enjoyable for her to ride.

They were very quick. I received my bike the next day after I brought it in for a tune up. They were very thorough and told me exactly what they had done to my bike. Book early for tune ups because their appointments fill up fast! I booked mine at the end of March for my May appointment.

From ordering online, getting a confirmation email from the owner, to store pickup, & the service techs double checking the bike before I paid & left.... it was all AAA! I've bought 2 other bmx bikes from another Gt bike dealer in town over the years & this was a far better experience!

Lots of products are available in store. I haven't tried any other services, but mostly, the staff are friendly and helpful. I never experienced anything wrong in terms of customer service. All my friends shop from here, and I will also purchase my next bike from here.

The staff at Alter Ego are very knowledgeable but also approachable. I have limited knowledge of bikes but at no point did I feel as thought I was being talked down to. It was a positive experience and I recommend cyclists of any experience level to visit this shop.
