At first I was very happy since my initial booking is to hire Hyundai Accent but we get Hyundai Elantra without extra charge. However, I took safety steps by taking photos of the car. Since there were lot of scratches and dented. There were no problems within 3 days using that car. A night before we return the car, we went to 24hrs auto car wash to ensure we return the car in the good and clean condition. In the next morning, I have to return the car at 8.00am. My boarding time is at 9.35am. My homestay is in Franskton South which take about 1 hour to reach Apex office. So we planned to depart from the homestay at 6.30am to avoid traffic jam because people will start their travel to work. After we loaded our luggage in the boot, then we realize our right rear tyre was flat!!!! Suddenly flat!! There was a nail in that tyre! Something fishy. I'm thinking that Apex wanna to sabotage us in order to get extra charge! The best part was we are 3 females! At first we call Roadside Assist but they said it takes 90 minutes to reach our place. We were damn nervous and worry will missed our flight. Then we decided to replace the tyre by ourselves by refering google. Firstly, we checked the tyre inside the boot. What a surprised!!!! The spare tyre also have a few effects from nail puncture that have been repaired. I am very confident that an irresponsible person had sabotaged us. It is not logic if hirer always faced flat tyre problem! We took 30 mins to replace the heavy tyre. We were getting late to go to airport. Since people start travel to work, the drive time took 1hr 20 mins to reach Apex office. I told Apex regarding on the tyre issue. Luckily during booked the car, I chose to rent with zero access. If not, we have to pay the flat tyre. Please refer pictures below! . I am so frust if it is really been sabotaged. Logically, if we hit the nail during drive on the road, must be front tyre will be flat since we drive forward and not reverse!

Worst rental agency in NZ - reasons why they are so cheap. PLUS they take money from credit card anytime they wish without even consulting. When making phonecall about it - they think its a pro rata agreement, CONSUMER OMBUDSMAN PEOPLE!!!! Upon arrival to airport, rang phone number and told to wait at pickup which was fine. Upon pickup van arriving, it was clear the 'driver was having a stressful day , as he said if its only you, I can only take you - otherwise you will have to wait'. Transported to agency where it became rather obvious others had to wait as there were only 'two staff' and around 15 people waiting to be served. Were told "just wait - other people seen to be walking in and out of back office, 'Manager didnt even attempt to come out and help staff - walked back into office and stayed there. One of the staff members had a sign "in training". NIL paperwork ready, had to go through the whole process with worker. Car was SHABBY, DENTED, POOR CONDITION, STAINED SEATS etc etc. Note: returning car was also a repeat of nightmare, only more poor people waiting and even less service available. WILL NOT BE USING THIS SERVICE AGAIN - GO ELSEWHERE!!!OLD FLEET< CRAPPY SERVICE!!!!

It was the worst experience ever !! I had rang on the 26/5/2018 at 12.27am, to enquire about the price on deposit of hiring one of your cars !! The gentleman told me they take the daily charge and keep detail of credit card until car is returned !! I was happy with that !! I live in queenscliff which is a good 2hour drive one way to the melbourne airport !! Once we arrived they informed us of a $2700 bond !! The ladys in the melbourne airport office we very nice and helpful eventhough there was nothing they could do !! I immediately rang you 1800 number that i had called during the day !!! The lady told me there was not a thing they could do , after i explained that myself and my young child were stuck with no car and unsure of the area ,,,,,,,, she tells me to hang on and puts me through to an answering machine , which then hangs up !!! I was extemely upset , on how i was treated and intend to put a complant with the ombudsman first thing monday morning !! Melanie 0 rating

Mixed experience. Good quality vehicle and quick pickup. Note that their hours are a bit limited considering they operate as an airport car-hire service. If you have an early flight and need to drop it off you need to arrange that ahead of time at extra cost. My biggest issue was the 2750 AUD bond I placed on the vehicle when renting was not refunded to me until many weeks later and only after calling them when I noticed it on my credit card statement. Ended up having to pay it and having a big credit on my CC. First world problems, I know. Update: rented another car and the pick up took over 30 minutes despite the location not being busy. The woman working the counter seemed very flustered and confused. I was also given incorrect instructions as to early drop off location (this is despite me calling the day before drop off to clarify location). Ended up needing an Uber and almost missed my flight. I wouldn’t rent here ever again.

Rented a car for 5 days from Sydney. Much cheaper than Hertz, Thrifty and others. I gave them my flight number, therefore found their shuttle straightway which took me to their office, a 10min drive. The shuttle driver was very helpful loading and unloading our luggage. In the office they took 1 bit more time, 30min, to give me the key. It was black Elantra. Excellent car!!!! While returning the car, the fuel was slightly low than a full tank. Needed to go to the nearby station to make it full by $4.5. One thing to mention: they have contract with Sydney Transport Authority for toll roads. I accidentally entered in a toll express bus lane. My friend told me that I'd get a fine of $250. 2-month later I got only $14 toll pay notice. Thanks Apex for saving my money. I will use Apex next time as well. So highly recommended!!!!

Website was easy to use. Rented a Hyundai Elentra but they gave us a Kia Optima. We have no complains as it was a free upgrade to us. But still do check with the staff at the counter if they have accidently gave you the wrong car, because charges of different cars are not the same. *Tip when you receive your car: Take the picture of the car front, back, the sides and the interior, just in case when you return and there were some missing parts. In our case, our car were missing the front part of the bumper. The part was already missing initially and luckily we have the pictures to proof. Nevertheless it was great fun driving in this car. Good power, great comfort, price is reasonable too.

I have not used Apex before but the other car companies had raised their prices considerably over the Christmas period so had to consider it as an option. Pick up and drop off at the airport was very smooth and we avoided the airport traffic. The Camry had pre-existing scratches and so pictures were taken by the staff member at the commencement of the trip. The car had 111,000 on the clock but performed very smoothly. We did over 2,300 kms in two weeks. Total cost was $1031 which included a $264 hire car insurance with $500 excess. Only slight issue was the diminishing strength of the car remote. I would definitely recommend this smaller operation. I love value for money!

Fuss free rental. Reasonable price. Missed the shuttle bus once and they send the shuttle again to pick us up. We rented a Hyundai Avante which has high mileage clocked and a dent on the door but all was good. Return at the CBD was easy and a staff came to took over the car once we parked and informed us that we did not need to go to the office for paper work. I was doubtful and called the centre to clarify that it was their staff. The child seat rented was full of crumbs and they should clean it up before renting it to us. E-toll was auto credited to my card as the car has a device installed. Overall, recommend for the competitive price.

After an airport pickup and a short shuttle ride we were brought to the apex offices. Despite three desks we had ro wait a short while due to other customers. We were fast and efficiently helped at the desk and we received valuable advice about insurance coverage. The car was brought to the entrance and off we went. The car was fine snd drove well despite about 100000 km in the clock. When returning the car i had firgotten to top up the tank. The lady at the frontdesk was so kind to tell me and allow me to go to a service station to fill up the tank. Overall a good car rental agency and recommendable service.

Whilst very friendly, I pre-booked a car only to arrive at the rental office and be told they did not hire out to provisional drivers (I'm on my Green Ps/P2 a month away from my full licence). It would have been nice to know that when I booked. The website uselessly asked my age and did not ask the actually important question of whether I had a full licence. Whilst the staff member tried to find me a car with a company that does hire out to provisionals, they were all booked out. Apex NZ does a much better job - I had no issues whatsoever on my new green Ps in North Island over a year ago!

The service was nice at the counter for the car collection, however it took quite a lot longer than expected or as compared to other companies like Hertz, Avis etc. It was my first time with apex in Melbourne although I booked with them in Sydney and Brisbane as well. This time in Melbourne, it took us about 20-25 mins wait at the airport before being picked up. We had to wait in rain while eventhough the bus was here. That part of the service was unpleasant. The car we got was okay. It has a few noticeable long scratches and some interior marks and stains.

It was very easy to book car and the service was very quick. The car was very new toyota corola and easy to drive. Jay came to pick us up from the airport, he had his smile on all the time. Jay took our luggage and put them in the car. When we went to drop off the car, we saw Jay was waiting for us and greeted us with his smile. He again packed up all our luggage. When he drop us off at the airport, he grabbed a trolley set all our luggage nicely and made it very easy for us! We are with Apex from last 5 years and never got disappointed. Thank you Jay :)

Rented a vehicle for my family trip of 8 for 11 days. Prices are competitive and collection of car was smooth even though we (with infant and elderly) have to take a shuttle van to a short distance away to collect. However upon returning the vehicle, the service of the driver for the shuttle van was shockingly unfriendly and unwelcoming! We even have to ask him whether is this the vehicle to the airport and whether could we onboard, and he replied "just put your luggage". That was the most "friendliest" service i ever received from all my travels.

Booking with Apex was straight forward using their online website. We had to take their shuttle to their office less than 5 minutes away. A quick briefing and we were handed with the keys. Clear instructions given, key information provided in a document when the key was handed to us. Driving a Toyota Corolla was great. Clean car, good condition. Return was easy, again taking their shuttle back to the airport. Also to add, the Apex team took photos of the car and emailed directly to me which was a nice touch. Sample photo attached.

Dropped off the Car in the condition we were given it in, and the Staff were happy with it. It was quite disappointing to see that the building was understaffed, but each customer were talked to personally and care was taken to make sure everyone got what they asked for. Our Shuttle to the Airport was comfortable, fast, and quite entertaining, as the driver talked and made 'contact' with us. It was welcoming and felt like we were treated personally. We were dropped off where he described as 'Public Hell.' Got to love Apex.

Rented a kia Elantra but got an older corolla. No complaints there as their prices were way more competitive that the bigger boys. Returned the car early with 30 mins to spare but had to rush to the airport. I did not have time to fill up the remaining 1/4 tank and was told there will be a service fee on top of the fuel cost. Didn't receive a bill for it but only saw AUD60 charged to my credit card a week later. Felt there could have been better service there in light of my circumstance but would rent again nevertheless.

Ken in Melbourne Tullamarine helped us on our first day and also our last day, he had genuine interest in trying to help us. Ken was the perfect level of Professional and Friendly and as a Business Owner myself, I always appreciate and respect those who put the effort into their jobs. The original man we dealt with almost made us leave straight away, if not for Ken we would have left in a taxi and not used Apex again. Otherwise, the shuttle service was good and the drivers we encountered polite and friendly.

Car was battered and dented, but drove ok. Service was terrible. I arrived at the office just before 8.00am and told to go back outside and sit in my car until the official opening hours of 8.00am. The outside temperature was 4°. Shuttle bus to airport was delayed departure which caused me to miss my flight. Bus driver could not have driven any slower to the airport. I had to pay a $150 penalty fee to reschedule my flight. So much for a cheap car rental. Never renting a car from Apex again. ☹

Arrived at airport and had to wait over an hour for branch to open before we could get the shuttle. Message on the branch phone gave another incorrect number to ring the main apex branch. Car was ok but had no gps which i would consider an essential piece of kit for a rental car for people in an unfamiliar city. As we were leaving outside branch hrs we had to pay for an alternate supplier shuttle. Not very happy about that. Wont be using them again.

Shuttle service due to pickup after hrs was fast and efficient. both from melbs airport and to. Liasing with Melbs apex via ph and email was efficient. Answering my questions. Price of Rental for a hyundai i45 for 8days was the cheapest. Rental was cleanly presented and drove very well. Pickup and return of vehicle was easy and quick. definitely satisfied with apex customer service and andrews airport parking on pickup and return of vehicle.

I won't bother with any of the rental car companies at the airport ever again. The prices are ludicrously expensive compared to Apex. Sure, you do have to get a shuttle to the main office, but it's a short wait and totally worth it for the sometimes hundreds of dollars you'll save. I've hired cars from this office 3 seperate times and never had any issues. The cars are in good condition and purchasing the full cover insurance is cheap.

My email was written wrong in the system so I did not received the instructions for early drop off location. The charged was already deducted from my account however and I missed my flight! I booked another flight in 2 days and the apex staff who seemed to understood my situation gave me free rental until the day of my flight. At least I did not have to spend a penny on the rental, although need to purchase a new flight ticket.

Quick paperwork and great service. Am a regular customer, and will continue to do so because of the really value for money rental rates. Just one thing that could massively improve Apex's reputation is the frequency of the airport transfers. Right now, it's typically 20-30 mins wait for a 5 min to their offsite location. Would be awesome if it was 10-15min walt instead, especially if there's an urgent appointment to attend to.

We were able to pick up our car late around 10pm from andrew's there was no one to facilitate, they kind of just handed us the keys and off we went. not complaining, the car was clean and new, but i did take photos before i left the place and returning was fine, there are airport transfers to here with clear instructions. you may have to cater some time if you are flying out for the return, maybe an extra 15mins will be fine.

Our experience was very mixed, i must admit we were given a great new car with only 4000km on the odometer. the problem was they couldn't provide us with the snow chains and ski/snowboard rack that we had chosen on our online order and that id emailed to confirm in writing would be available for pick up when we arrived. So great service at a very competitive price just don't hold out for the extras.

Car rental itself went fine back in July/August 2022, nice car, good price. But avoid taking toll roads at all costs. The only way to pay for the toll is to sign up for a website where you can pay it, but since then I have received minimum 3 scam/spam text messages per week about overdue toll notices, never received anything until the second I signed up to pay that notice, now it will not stop.

Offer cheaper car rental rates as compared to international rental companies. Car fleet seems to be getting old & tired. However, cant fault with the prices they are offering. Do take note that car pick up is not at the airport but at a offsite location that is 6mins drive away. Shuttle bus is provided to pick u up at the airport & also for dropoff but do take note of the shuttle service hours.

From all the rental agencies in Melbourne, Apex had the most competitive rates. They offered a shuttle pickup/drop off to the airport and were easy to communicate via e-mail with any queries i had. I rented cars from them for about 6 months. At one time i did get a car which did not have the features as advertised or it was defective. I will use them again next time.

So Rude staff. Especially the van driver Justin. We rent a vehicle for three days in Melbourne. When we have dropped off back the vehicle we have explained to the office lady that we have a lot luggage. Please tell the van driver to reverse close to our luggage area to load but he replied soooooooo rude can’t do it. Never will use the service any more in Melbourne

Car was unsafe to drive on the open road (pulled hard to the left and vibrated violently). Have twice requested a callback from the manager to discuss reimbursement but this has not been forthcoming. Update - received a callback from the manager who was very genuine and apologetic, refunded me a fair portion of the car hire. Rating updated from 1 star to 3

Lack of transparency when booking online, minimum age is 21, they expect someone to have a full license at that age which isn't possible. Went to pickup the car and they bluntly said we can't rent it to you as you are a probationary driver, they only tell you that you need a full license after you confirm the booking. Very untruthful and in a way scam.

I have been on and off renting with apex rentals for almost a year now. They provide best service in terms of communication, cars and support. I had a busted tail light, they fixed it in house, did not charge me anything extra and refunded the excess that I paid. That speaks volumes on how much these guys value customers.

Fast and friendly service! Additional driver was free of charge and we didn’t have to clean the car upon returning. When we received the car the tank wasn’t entirely full, when we handed in the car we tanked just before until we thought it was full. Apparently it wasn’t but that wasn’t a big deal. We are happy customers!

Tried several times to pay for an extra day but their computer system does not allow an additional payment on the same card. Then they have the cheek to threaten me with dept collectors. Until then the service was good but I strongly suggest they need to sort out their systems before dealing with them again.

Hired a car. Had an accident paid the exorbitant excess and more than a year on am still getting correspondence from the car I hit insurance company saying they have not paid and they are chasing me for the money. Do not touch this company obviously dodgy with their insurance. Not worth the risk.

Great value for money, friendly staff, 10 minutes shuttle ride to/from terminal. My Outlander is very new and in good condition. However this is the only Apex outlet that I have tried so far that charged a small amount of rental fee on my card while other Apex branches accept full cash payment.

Great service for inter city drive! We picked up Mitsubishi Outlander from Melbourne Airport and dropped at Sydney Airport. The car was in good condition and great for the long ride. The only inconvenient bit is to drop off car within office hours 8-5, else pay extra!

I had good experience with the team at Apex Melbourne. Very friendly and cheerful lot. Just have to read and be aware of all the t&c and you should be ok. I would give it a 5 star rating if the car provided for me was a brand new one. But it was in good condition. :)

Very competitive rates with adequate communication prior to arrival. Some may say it's a hassle to have to wait for shuttle pick up and send off at the airport to/from the rental location but we think it's a small price to pay for the competitive rates.

Good value if you have the time and patience and are ok with older cars. Shuttle used to be good but is now infrequent and unreliable - less than twice per hour on our arrival & departure days in Dec '17 (not due to roadworks).

The staff are friendly and the service was smooth. Albeit being a tad far away from the main airport, there is always the transport service. The entire process of collecting and returning a rental car was really smooth.

Easy smooth process, only issue was the car we got was in pretty bad shape on the outside. New car and inside was spotless, just exterior looked like people haven't been caring for it. Plenty of scrapes and dings.

Decent car rental place, only downfall is they are not at the airport - you have to get a shuttle bus to them. Its of course free and efficient - just a shame Apex don't have a pickup at the airport itself.
