"Aquatic Park is framed by Municipal Pier to the North, Van Ness Ave, and Sea Scouts to the West, a sandy beach and two Parks and Recreation semi prívate rowing clubs to the South, with the East side as the Hyde Street Pier with her historic vessels"
"We anchored our sailboat in Aquatic Park in Sept 2017"
"What a coming-to-the-end-od-worldwide-freakin'-pandemic blast swimming there in the Aquatic Park Cove was with one of my oldest buds (who I met just up the street from here in a serendipitous occasion over 30 years ago) in the cold, cold water! Just the wake-up call for returning to--or heading toward--whatever comes next !!! …"
"Great for kids because there aren't any waves"
The quaint, historic cove surrounded by piers includes a swimming area for people, who are able to enjoy the cold bay water. A small beach invites tourists as well as locals. With the Maritime Museum and it’s old ships on one side and the long curved pier out into the bay on the other, this beautiful spot had much to offer: views, information, education, relaxation. Even so the pier is slowly falling apart it still has charm enough to be visited on your next San Francisco trip. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz are amazing and free.
Aquatic Park is framed by Municipal Pier to the North, Van Ness Ave, and Sea Scouts to the West, a sandy beach and two Parks and Recreation semi prívate rowing clubs to the South, with the East side as the Hyde Street Pier with her historic vessels. It’s a favorite SF swimming spot and snug harbor for visiting sailing vessels. It’s about 3/4 of a mile around the perimeter. Come and take off your shoes, walk the beach in the big City, and get back in touch with yourself.
We anchored our sailboat in Aquatic Park in Sept 2017. We were on our way South to Mexico from Portland Oregon. It's a great location to get into town and a beautiful place too sir and enjoy the "City by the Bay". The once draw back is the amount of surge you get from tidal action, waves and wakes from boats crossing the entrance. ⛵

Great for kids because there aren't any waves. Plus, the location allows for fun at Ghirardelli Square and The Warf. Unfortunately, the beach seems filthy and the water is polluted with toxins as well as trash. Try not to swallow when you splash around.
It was an early morning encounter with almost clear skies. There was a gamut of colors from purple and pink to yellow and then bright white. I wanted along the Pier to the watchtower at the end of the Pier. There are scenic opportunities.
It depends on what you want to do .... And if it's for 4th of July then I would say don't bother because most likely it's going to be overcast at best .or street level pea soup at worst and the most you'll see is rainbow colored fog.
Amazing place to watch the fleet week airshow by the Blue Angel's. Smaller area than the google map makes you think. Bit lots of room for good sized boats. Great protection from any waves/ swell but still pretty windy.
Nice view on the bay & the golden bridge. So sad the “sea side” of the pier is in very bad condition and closed to public. This is a major touristic spot and city should do something about it...
This is a wonderful anchorage. Great place to stay while visiting San Francisco. It's well worth the $10. Per day fee. The staff are courteous and friendly and sail boat lovers themselves.
Had a great couple of nights anchoring here. Shore landing can be a bit rough if the swell is up, but nothing too treacherous. Excellent view of Ghirardelli square and the city front
For swimmers, a great place to finish Alcatraz to SF events. If you swim inside aquatic park, beware of rocks underneath water around the west side. Better to stay near the buoys.
Beautiful spot for short open water swim practice and perfect finishing area for Alcatraz swims. Nice walkway and beach, water is cold all year, usually mid to high 50’s. …
This is the spot if you wanna go for Open Water swim and still be somewhat safe. There is bunch of swimmers all around, rain or shine. Parking can be very though :-(
It's a nice place to watch swimmers who swim a long distance in the ocean. And there times when you'll catch a glimpse of marine life( seals, storks , and snails)..
Best to visit in late evenings and destress with ocean view on one side and Ghirardelli Square view on the opposite end! Street parking available 2-3 blocks away.
Visited the cove during an anniversary visit to the city. Great place to view the marina/fisherman's wharf area at night, with all the city lights.
What's not to love?! Nice view and the place to get your open water swimming training in for triathlons. They are bueys in the water for laps.
Located across the street from Gharadelli Square this is an great walk on beach area that is fun kids to play and adults to take a stroll.
View of the Golden Gate in the background, Guilhardelli Chocolate in the middle and side of Pier 43. Could to have benches to sit there.
One of best places to see Alcatraz and the golden gate, very close to fisherman’s wharf and worth the trip for the shops around it too!
Good view of Alcatraz island, can see the golden gate from afar. Nice hangout spot by the bay, not crowded at all even on a weekend.
This was super pretty in the afternoon. I got a kick out of watching people fishing off the dock and seeing a few people swimming.
My daily walk I’ll never tire of this beauty nice, peaceful and windy as ever. Always somebody fishing, running or chilling.
A great walk to get beautiful views of the city without getting on a boat! Beware of the seagulls which seem rather brazen!
Beautiful view of Alcatraz. Great place to watch a sunrise. Here you can see people fishing or going for a morning jog.
If you're having a stressful week and wanna tell people you're gonna jump in the bay this is the best place to do it
Very tranquil I love this area. I go there often for piece of mind and to take in the views.. Awesome!!!
I got to see dolphins, a guy fishing, some really neat places to explore and great food down the street!
Great view of Ghiradelli square, view of the east bay on one side and the golden gate on the other.
Loved it was amazing the weather was perfect and not too crowded only parking wish Thiere was more!
Deserted and littered with bad smell. Some use for fishing. Nice view of harbour and museum ships.
Beautiful spot to take in the sunset and the last light of the day falling over the city skyline
the view of historic ships , sound of swimmers in the morning's. playful seals. City lights.
Very beautifull spot. Not so crowded. Good views of the city, Pier 39 & Golden Gate Bridge
this is where I go crabbing. happen to catch this little weird fish in my net..lol
Awesome spot do a walk, ride or run. Go here every time I visit. Love it.
Great place for a picnic, watching Blue Angels, relaxing or anything
Beautiful spot to take photos of the city. Highly recommend.
Beautiful and relaxing place to spend your afternoon
Beautiful view but unfortunately in need of repair.
Really nice to walk out on the pier on a clear day!
The historical bridge and other places good view
The beach is nice but they need public bathrooms
I'd say go in the summer! Rent a bike from Uber.
Great walk to see the Bay. Port not cr crowded
Quiet place for cycling, running and walking.
beautiful views and incredible sunsets …
There are no locker for the swimmers:-(
Quiet place with only a few people.
