Disappointed. I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter's 16th . Showed the photo of what I wanted and was told they could make it ... so I was happy to hear. I was quoted $47.00. I gave them 6 days to make the cake. The day finally came - I picked up the cake today and was so disappointed when it was brought to me. I could not believe what it looked like... nothing like the decoration I showed them ; no attention to details, the flowers used were not even at various sizes, colors and style. I told the guy that brought the cake to me, if they needed more time to add more flowers - it didn't look at all finished like my photo, he came back and said the pastry person was gone for the day and they hand made the flowers. I asked him if the pastry person would be in the next day.. I could give them an extra day to finish.. he comes back and said the flowers were bought and they didn't have anymore.. I said bought? ok. - so, I said if they would get more the next day .. and he said he didn't know. Before I left, I showed the young girl that took my order what the cake looked like.. and all I said to her was.. "here is my cake... looks nothing like the photo." I will not visit them again for any cakes. I will go elsewhere. - See the uploads - I think you can figure out the disappointed cake.

If I could give him give 0 stars I would I order my dads 60 birthday party which was a whole sheet cake for 100 people the cake was black with gold. Nastiest cake ever the cake was not even eatable u could taste the black whipped cream like plastic n the cake was order with fruit but contained no fruit wat so ever. I had alway orders from here for years but recently they’ve just had the worst management n people working here they don’t care about the quality anymore they just care about the money. I payed $120 for a whole sheet cake n what I receive was not even believable. In the party no one even took a bite of the cake because of how nasty the cake was. I should of just took my money and my business to EL BOLLILLO they always make the best cakes but again since everybody knew the arandas bakery we all agreed on there but this is the worst place to get cakes I DONT recommend unless u want to be embarrassed in front of hundreds of people with a disgusting cake and for pictures I have proof so PLEASE DONT buy cakes here go to any other cake store n I promise u will get a better cake and more than likely even cheaper.

Security pulled a gun on me. I went to Arandas Bakery a few hours ago, the security guard approached me and said I can't have a firearm I apologized and told him there was not any posted signs saying this. I also showed him my licenses to carry ID, he walked away. I preceeded to pay the cashier suddenly the guard pull his gun on me. He was held back by two store employees. They then apologized to me and didn't want me to call 911. I called the police they showed up took statements, viewed the video footage and gave me a case number. I've been going to this place for many years And almost lost my life today because of an inexperienced security guard and a store who allows its security to threaten its customers. I will express this on every social media platform. I am still unable to process this. I just wanted some tamales but instead I had a gun pulled on me. WOW!!!!! I AM STILL SHAKING. I WILL NEVER EVER GI BACK OR RECOMEND Arandas Bakery to anyone anymore.

Horrible experience. As a first time customer, I called ahead to make sure they had what I wanted. I told them I would be picking up the tamales and I would be there in about 30 minutes. When I arrived, I waited in line about 45 minutes to pick up my order. When I spoke with someone, they told me they could not sell it to me because I did not provide payment when I called. The girl that took my order just started working there and neglected to ask me for payment and I assumed that they would get my payment when I arrived. Even though it was their fault, and not my fault, they would not sell it to me, even though I was standing right there with payment in hand. Instead of making it right, they doubled down and lost a customer, total incompetence. So I wasted my time and had to go to my party without the food that I promised to bring. It ruined my night.

Giving them a 3 star why, I went in for tamales. I will be honest I had stopped coming to Arandas Bakery since Covid started. My go to bakery is Tepatitlan Bakery. I figured I would buy tamales at Arandas Bakery it is just the next exit from where I live. I got tamales de Puerco, and asked for salsa, but the cashier stated that they don't provide sauce for tamales. They think the sauce inside the Tamales should be sufficient. Most Mexicans I know have salsa with every meal. This was a disappointed purchase of tamales they where blend no flavor, they are cooked to perfection I will give them that, but they lack that kick that the salsa gives it. Next run for tamales will be back to Tepatitlan Bakery its out of my way but the fact that they add salsa to each order has me driving from Howard Dr in Houston to Spencer in Pasadena every other weekend.

My husband ordered a tres leches cake for my birthday. When he brought it home for me, I thought they had given us the wrong cake. There was no writing on the cake that said Happy Birthday and it was covered in fruit! We decided to try it anyway and cut into it. It was like no other tres leches cake I have ever had and not in a good way. It had 3 different layers inside that were pink, white, and brown. The worst part was it had fruit inside of it. Old hard pineapple, peaches (I hate peaches) and grapes! Who puts grapes inside a cake?? The whipped cream was so old that was gummy tasting. Tasted like it had been sitting on a shelf for at least a week and had a freezer burn taste. Nobody at my birthday party like it and we threw it all away. That was a waste of $50.00! Never again will I order anything from this bakery!!

I ordered a cake the day before and they said they would have it ready by 5pm. I came in at 5:45pm and it still wasn't ready. I waited and waited and it was 6pm by then. All these other people had their cakes ready and I was just standing there at a loss. Finally, my cake came out and it had the wrong color for the border and name. The colors were specified on the note but somehow they still got it wrong. I was very disappointed in the lack of time management and service to the client. I had to wait another 10 minutes. The girl trying to help was the one who apologized yet the guy who seemed to be trying to manage the place said absolutely nothing to better or accommodate the situation. I gave two stars only because the cake tasted good but I will not be ordering cake from here again.

  • Valerie Medina

Horrible Service from the women in here. I was standing in the cake like for at least 5 mins nobody acknowledged me. The 2 women just kept checking out the people on the Pan side. So i get in the Bread line and im 2 people away from the front of the line when a 3rd lady comes out the back to start helping a lady that just got there for a cake. I stayed on the bread side once it was my turn i told the lady i needed a cake she rolled her eyes and just like wave her hand to follow her. She got me the cake i wanted. Wrote down on the ribbon what i wanted placed the ribbon and walked away. Even after horrible service, as i was leaving i said thank you (just to try to turn my view of them & nope) nobody said anything. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

  • Tiffany Castillo

I ordered a cake from them a week before I needed it when we went to pick it up the cake was not even done correctly. They took it to the back to fix what was supposed to be gold little dots to big orange dots. I asked them if they could fix it and they told me yes give the 10 minutes. I waited 1 hour and 30 minutes was late to the party and the cake was still not fixed it was two different purples looked like a two year old did it. They then told me they could not mix gold and purple for whatever reason witch was not told to me the day I ordered the cake. Never again will I trust them with a cake for a birthday party! I spoke with the manager he said he would give me a $50 credit when I paid $180. .

  • Briana Vasquez

Today, I picked up my order of tamales (6dozens) I was handed a bag of with tamales (my assuming all my tamales are in there) they were busy and one I’m trusting them that they are handling my order complete. I get home and see I only got 6 half dozens which I’m still missing 3 dozens. I called and I ask the guy if I can make it over there in 20 mins he said no they close in 10mins. I asked if I can go tomorrow he said I have to bring al of my tamales and NOT guaranteed a REFUND ! Mind you I paid also 100 dollars !!!! It’s unbelievable how this gentleman handled customer service he needs to get fired ASAP!! I will never return here again !! This GUY SHOULD NOT BE WORKING HERE AT ALL

The lady who was making tacos was to busy talking with her co-workers that she didn't get my 2 barbacoa tacos right, all I asked for was to put the veggies (onions, cilantro) separately as it was breakfast time but I was going to have them for lunch or they would be soggy . But NO she didn't. So I had no idea what happened because I went to get a cold drink and then pay & she had it wrapped up and ready to go, so I left it till lunchtime but it was a huge soggy mess of both, stuck together and just got nasty. So no I will not be coming back. Im pretty sure that my taco's matter more than your conversation, just ask your boss.

WORST BAKERY EVER!!! I ordered a cake for my wedding, provided pictures and my cake looked nothing like the one in the picture!! I was told not to use this bakery for such an important event, however I wanted to give them a chance... Ughh worst mistake ever!!! If you’re looking to get a cake for a special event, don’t event think about using them! They just RUINED my special day for me. I wish I could give them 0 stars, cause 1 star is way too much for them. I called and they didn’t even apologize and they didn’t even take actions to try to fix their mistake. It wasn’t even the worth price I paid for it.

  • Adrian Ghost

I ordered two cakes at this location the day before my kids birthday. When I went to pick it up they had me waiting for a hour before telling me that they only had one cake ready. I was told that the employee who took my order had filled out the form incorrectly so one of them was thrown out. When they took my order again they couldn't even get my number right. The manager started to give me attitude when I came back to get the second cake as soon as he saw me. I should have listened to my friend who recommended el bolillo bakery on wayside and 45.

  • CINDY Martínez

First time going to this bakery. I came in on the fly trying to find a small cake that would look good in a picture. I found a small carrot Cake that looked so pretty! Much to my disappointment it was the worst carrot cake I have ever had in my life. It was beyond dry and tasteless. It was not edible. Nobody wanted to eat it after the first bite, thank Goodness it was mainly for the picture. I probably would not ever get a cake from here again. You’re better off going to Kroger or any other grocery store bakery for that matter.

  • Sandra Laguna

I ordered a 150 pieces of Bread and left it paid for a week before a big event. I did this so it would be ready to just to pick up because I was going to be super busy that day. Needless to say I've been waiting at least 30 minutes and still waiting. Then the manager promised me it would be fresh because they fill the orders first thing in the morning. Tell me why im getting some hard conchas off the shelf. Normally this place is great but today I'm very disappointed with them.

  • Hiba Khan

I am a resident of Boston,MA and wanted to deliver a cake on behalf of someone else within Houston,TX.. Gina at Aranda's bakery was very helpful in providing all the info, including pic of the cake, price and final order receipt for this delicious cake and delivery ..even though she mentioned they don't do deliveries for such small orders, they were kind enough to do this as a favor!! THANKS EVERYONE. I can't wait to actually try out the desserts myself on my next Texas trip!

  • al wassef

You are in for a nice treat in this traditional Mexican bakery. They have the best bread loaves you can find anywhere. They also have a very good assortment of desserts and decorated cakes. I have not tried the cakes but they look wonderful. This is a very authentic place, so Spanish language is helpful. Usually there will be someone who is bilingual either on staff or one of the customers. If not, you can usually manage by pointing at what you want. Very friendly staff.

  • Pink Pawn

ARANDAS bakery used to be the best ever. Recently it's been going downhill. The variety has dwindled and the employees seem like they don't like their job. You never get greeted or a smile. I went last Sunday because I was driving by and in the area. The lady just literally threw my items in the bag. I know she was trying to be fast, but you can be fast and careful. No hello just made a face when I handed her my credit card. I doubt I will go there again.

  • Carlos Fiscal

Terrible the boy at the counter was on his cellphone barely help me and when he did he went to the back and didn't come back. I could have just walked out he left front and the register completely alone plus two other customers came in and thought the same thing we could have easily took the money from your store. So train your employee better oh he did come still on his phone did charge me no thank you come again don't worry Won't go back ever.

  • Valerie jones

They always make me great cakes. I just cringe when I have to go inside to pay or pick up the cakes. Its very uncomfortable. I'm not completely fluent in spanish and I'm always ignored, skipped, customers taken in front of me. It feels like all races are not accepted. The woman who took my order and the gentleman who helped me pay were very nice( I wish I could remember their names) after I finally was able to be helped.

  • Kristo Rodriguez

Customer service : I am very dissatisfied with the customer service I have received. I had placed an order for my little boys 6th Birthday for 10:00am. Went to Pick it up by 4:00pm …..waited as 47 mins passed by just for them to let me know it wasn’t ready ! Could have politely told me it wasn’t ready 25 mins ago and with no problem left and come back a later time. (Cherish people TIME just like you cherish yours !)

  • Luis Barcenas

This place has excellent bread. It is always fresh and this is the ideal place for me to go shopping when I am in the mood for coffee and bread. I have never had anything wrong come out in the bread and since these people are always so busy of course they have a long line, but the line goes fast. The one item i love is their chesecake it is around $20.00 but it is amazing cheesecake I recommend everyone try it.

  • F Vega

I love this place, but sometimes I feel they charge me too much Today, I buy 5 bolillos, 7 conchas, 1 dona rellena, 1 unicorn dona and 2 Calaveras cookies, one small and 1 big And I paid 24.96 I know the bolillos is 5 for 3.25 The other stuff was 20 dollars. I don't know the price of each item, but on other occasions, I only paid 17 or 18 I think I should've said something there, but I don't know why I didn't

  • rebecca carrasco

I only come when I visit my family because I love the cream cheese, jalepeno bollilo. Today I asked someone to help me find them because it’s changed since my last visit. The woman who I asked shook her head and then walked away and said to another person she doenst know Spanish you help her in a rude way. ( she didn’t even tell me she doenst speak English) I would have asked her in Spanish.

  • Nicole Lopez

I went there about a week ago and i could not believe what i saw in the bread, it was these sort of bugs just crawling around. They were people around seeing the same thing. When we told the staff working there, they didn’t do nothing about it and just let the people get bread without informing them. There was also very little selection to choose from. If i could give it 0 stars i would.

  • George Pineda

Always love the fresh sweet bread, bolillos and flour tortillas, they have the biggest selection of sweet bread that everyone at home loves, weather is with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate you can make no mistake; another great thing they are the best at as well Is their tres leches cakes. Keep up the great work. Great friendly staff.

  • Julian Franklin

Great Mexican style bakery with a huge variety of "pan dulce" or "sweet bread." The cakes and muffins and cookies and such are not as sweet as typical American style baked goods, which are usually overly sweet in my opinion. It's self-serve, so grab a pizza tray and a pair of tongs and grab what you want. Prices are cheap so load up.

  • Javier Paz

Bread is great but most of the time if you don't watch what they charge you, they over charge you if it cost .$.50 they charge you $.70 just like other varieties of bread. I think they should have the prices on the glass of each kind of bread like they used to, but know they just want to charge what they fill like it.

  • Joseph Merkley

Great local bakery. The assortment is massive, I've never had an "old" item from them. The prices are on point for the give work it takes to make the food. My kids love the bread delivery button that has them shooting bread out of the wall for you. This is a frequent visit for my family, sometime twice a week.

  • Dahlia Fick

Disappointed..I was overcharged. This is all I bought and charged $47. Ofcourse they don't give you a receipt so there's no arguing when it hits you you been overcharged. Please be aware. I grew up buying from here, but I doubt I'll be coming back. The personnel does not appear competent in running register.

  • Dr Pamela Hernandez

Completely disappointed with the lack of empathy from the staff who did not allow my aunt (an elderly woman) use the bathroom in an emergency situation although we were willing to purchase something. Who does that! It's ourageous. This business doesn't care about customers, they just care about making money.

  • Lucia Lozada

The doors where bread is kept do not close appropriately so there were flies in and out It was sooo hot not sure if AC was broken or that's just they way they have there employees working in those e poor conditions. We always stop when we're in Houston, after this visit it was taken off our must stops list.

  • johnny castillo

My favorite bakery to go to. It is open spaced and they follow all guidelines for covid recommendations. Everyone there is wearing a mask. Makes me feel just a bit of comfort in these trying times. The bread is great and fresh. Cakes look good i just haven't tried thier cakes...yet. i highly recommend.

  • Mary Cruz

When I first moved to Texas I used to go to this bakery about every weekend they had the best soft tasting pastries but now I hardly ever go because they have dry hard pastries that I don't like so I guess I won't be going by for another good while it's just a waste of my time and my money.

  • Sensei Montenegro

We ordered a 3D image that was to be placed on the cake but instead the image was transferred onto the icing. It looked nice & the cake was delicious...even if it wasn't what we ordered. Unfortunately we were not offered an apology for their mistake ... much less an offer to make it right.

  • M D

I’ve been coming here for years for tres leches cake. Lately I went and it seems like the tres leches cakes are dry with no milk in them or they’re being skimpy and barely putting any in the cake along with raising the price by $5. You can’t raise the price and not put milk in cakes.

  • Chad Tobler

I like to go here to get fresh tamales to take home. I usually end up trying some of the pastries because they look so impressive, but the tamales are what keeps me coming back. Good tamales at a reasonable price. I make it a habit to stop in every time I'm around the Hobby airport.

  • Erica Guerra

Please have your employees wear hairnets correctly and wash their hands and maybe even dust off their clothes before getting in to make the bread. I sell baked goods myself, except I would go through soo much and lose so much if my customers found a hair in their stuff!! …

  • Jacob Meyers

Great selection of Mexican bakery items. Just disappointed that the frosted cakes (the yellow, white, chocolate, bread topped with frosting and sprinkles) are no longer available. Regardless, bakery still has a huge selection to choose from. Friendly staff and great service.

  • Aleida Martinez

We actually spent $40.00 here because we bought 2 1/2 Tamales and Pan Dulce. Honestly all the Pan Dulce that we bought was very Moldy. I got very sick from eating a Cuernito. It was actually Food Poisoning. I'm not recommending this Bakery to no one. What a waste of money.

  • silvia hodge

cake was awful. I ordered a white/ vanilla tres leches cake with fresh strawberry filling and strawberries on top. the cake was pink and dry no leches at all...the frosting tasted like chemicals and it had jelly and peaches on top...just bad. 50 bucks and 10 unhappy people

  • Marie G. de Leon

I am fond of Mexican pastry but their cakes all seem to be same. It's kinda pricey! When they sell seasonal tamales they should try putting in some more meat not dough! Service is great and fast. I usually go for what I'm craving and out the door. It's too expensive!

  • Miqueas Junior

The lines a not too long and the security guy doesn't let a lot of people get in at the same time so isn't crowded in there. Bread is good, my favorites are the chocoflan, cheese cake, and the moca cake. I never tried the ice cream cake but I will …

  • Diana Martinez

Bread stays soft and tasteful after a few days at home. Good variety of bread and cheap. Only downfall is on Sunday afternoons most of the displays are empty of bread. However the special order cakes are delicious, cake is moist and the order us always on time.

  • Houston Real Estate

The Mexican bread at Aranda's Bakery is by far THE BEST in all.of Houston. My favorites include the fresh bolillos, cheese empananadas, churros, conchas and donuts. They also have tamales which are fantastic! I love this place. Highly recommended!!! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

  • Yesi Trevi

Their conchas and bolillos are good. IDK about anything else bc I haven't tried it. It's a clean establishment and looks nice. Wish they also sold telera, then I would definitely go back. I really loved their Dia de los Muertos altar and decorations!! …

  • Riaz R

Excellent staff who are friendly and helpful, decently clean, organized, and always a good selection. One of my favorite panaderias in Houston. I wish they would pour some money back into the building for upkeep, but otherwise most excellent bakery!

  • Maria Suarez

Love this place. Recently they gave away toys for the kids/sold roscas on special, and my kids were extremely thankful, another reason why I would keep going here. Family friendly and reasonable prices. (Unfortunately I hardly take pics of food) lol

  • Fresh Waters

Arandas never disappoints from their service,to creative innovative pastries and wonderful seasonal celebration. For any future celebrations to a good morning breakfast or sweet tooth this bakery is the place to go! 10 out 10 would always recommend

  • Salvino Gonzalez

Breads great but customer service isn’t we had to ask three staff members for access to their public restrooms ( for a three year old) The proceeded the last employee gave us attitude and just said “the restrooms closed” no other explanation

  • Sundra Deleon

Sorry guys no pictures this time but their store is great. Authentic and delicious. Only thing was needs to some TLC. The microwave you can use needs some attention and their coffee station.( I don't drink coffee but it's in the same area)

  • Gerson Sifuentes

Very fast working young people at the counter and security guard armed with hand sanitizer. Bread was fresh and upheld its traditional flavor! Delicious seasonal cookies for the kids and daily made staples for everyone else!

  • Camila

We have ordered cakes multiple times from this bakery over the years and they NEVER disappoint. The cakes are always beautiful and so moist! The sweet bread is always fresh as well. I definitely recommend this bakery!

  • Leira Nakash

I order my Baby shower's cake there and it was delicious. Also the prices are very cheap. At first I thought that for prices like that I wouldn't get anything so good but it was actually one of the best cakes ever.

  • Texas Made

My sons cake turned out to be wonderful and quite tasty! Although I ordered to soon due to weather cancelation for his party,it still was good after a week! Would definitely get a cake done here again

  • Rashida Kachwala

First time in a South American Bakery. Loved it. The cheese empanada was amazing beyond words. The tres de letches cakes were the best I have ever had! Bit far from me but would definitely go again

  • Yesina Platero

I love coming to this place. Bread is always fresh and delicious. It has a big selection. Only thing I don't like it's their employees. They are rude and seems not to care about customers at all.

  • Peter Rodriguez

Food had mold. I recommended you double check your pastries. I talked with manager about the situation and how to make it right. The sweet bread is good when it's fresh. Good Luck Arandas Bakery

  • Major League Chasing

While i town working I craved some pound cake for my morning coffee. A quick google search turned up this bakery. What an amazing place. They had everything i needed and more! Conchas are life!

  • Donna Coleman

The lady who was making tacos on New Year's morning was rude and to busy talking with her co-workers that she couldn't make my barbacoa tacos correctly...had to throw them away.wasted money.

  • Anthony Flores

Not the most appealing from the outside but that keeps away the crowds. Make for a wide variety and stocked selection of pan dulce. Reasonably priced and of course the pan dulce is perfect.

  • Mahwish Sohail

Ordered a birthday cake which was to be ready by 5 pm. Went to pick it up at 5 pm and it was not ready. I had to wait an hour and 10 mins to get it.. cake tasted good but hated wait time.

I love going to his Bakery every chance I get when I'm in Houston the only problem is you have to go early in the morning if you want the good sweet bread Cakes & rolls and other pastries

  • Veronica Castro

Cashier was very rude. I will drive a little further to spend my money and get excellent customer service. I only gave it 1 star because I had to give it a rating, they deserve NO STAR!!

Don't bother going here after 6 pm, hardly any bread on the shelves at night and not much to choose from. Also no prices on the glass windows to know how much each piece costs.

Very popular place for mexican sweet breads. Until recently, we do not go in after 2pm, shelves will be empty!! They sell out fast.
