My second visit to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford E20 was specifically to visit the ARCELOR MITTAL ORBIT, on Saturday 18/6/22. Busy at the time with an event in the London Stadium, but no problem parking in the disabled bays in the London Aquatics Centre car Park, reasonably very close to the ARCELOR MITTAL ORBIT in nearby Thornton Street. I made research and enquiries on this particular matter during my first visit at Q.E. Olympic Park Information Point, Friday 27/5/22. I intended during my visit to brave the slide but it was fully booked up on the day. ( Probably best online, but you can turn up at the booking office and ask if there is a slot for the slide....?) However, very pleased to have reached the upper viewing gallery ( by lift going up), and you are rewarded the ultimate views north, south, east and west of London. Open air balcony too but obviously fenced high over your head. Abseiling was taking place during my visit - a downwards dangling glide down to the enclosed landing area below. I watched two people dare this breathtaking pursuit from the edge ( launch release platform outside on a ledge as I viewed from within the window viewing gallery inside). The experienced guides, assistants were obviously present to prepare / attach their harnesses which are connected to steel pulleys and cable guide lines. A crane hook mechanism concealed within the roof lower the participants steady dangling in mid-air to descend down alongside the Arcelor Mittal Orbit structure. This remarkable structure, worthy of world status recognition, was designed by artist Anish Kapoor in collaboration with Cecil Balmond; and the Slide designed by artist Carston Holler. This unique attraction opened in June 2016. In essence a sculpture and is the U.Ks largest piece of public art. The twisted red metal tower stands at 375FT, and with the looping steel bar at the top it is slighty taller than the Statue of Liberty on Statton Island in N.Y.C. Unique also in having the fastest slide in the world in 40 seconds descent - a narrow silver steel tube with twelve twists. I decided the slow route down by walking leisurely the 455 steps cage corridor that twists around the tower like a snake. During the walk down I heard football crowd (courtesy West Ham United F.C.) matchday recorded sounds emit from speakers planted along the staircase. Adding to a matchday atmosphere from the London Stadium. Eventually you reach the same area exit where both slide tube and abseil landing area meet - this spacious area all within a fenced perimeter enclosure. Alternatively a lift journey of 34 seconds is also provided to reach the top. But for me, the admiration of the structure itself and a remarkable view from the top makes this a major tourist attraction. I had an informative and helpful talk with the slide manager/ organiser in the upper view gallery. The slide now operates and 'as I was told', on weekdays as well as weekends ( before it was Friday, Saturday, Sunday only!).Fantastic tourist landmark attraction not only in London but world over...a unique structure that in appearance different to the rest, whether considered attractive is debatable? I leave you to decide... At first sight the appearnce of this structure reminded me of a Martian machine described from H.G.Wells S.F. classic 'The War of the Worlds'. Dont worry, no heat Ray attached...safe to embark! Rating from me A1, 10/10. A must visit, if only once in a lifetime experience...Chris.

I've always wanted to experience but didn't get round to it untill 31 August 2022 Booked my ticket online, think it was about £1 cheaper online ‍♂️ It was 1x Adult - The Slide and Skyline views £16.75 1x Child - The Slide and Skyline Views £10.75 You then book a time slot, your time slot is only for the slide not the Skyline views. You have the option to use the GoPro to film whilst you go down the Slide. That was £15 and any additional £10. Which they also provide before you go down the Slide. Other websites give give you option for just the views and then £5 extra if you want the slide option. So me and my boy did both. When you go there they charge you £1 for the locker which is then refunded once you're done with the locker. Only if you're doing the Slide that is. You can't take anything with you, not even your phone. Place everything in the locker. You then go up the lift, jump in the queue. They then put on your GoPro camera (if you've paid for it) elbow pads and head guard. You can take a photo up there before you down the slide ad you can see in my pics. Then go down the Slide. Get the refund for your locker at the main desk. Then you can go back up the lift on the second floor and take in the exceptional views. Luckily the sun was shinning when we were there and got amazing views. You don't realise how high it is till you're up there. You've also got the option of the stairs to walk uo or down, I didn't bother with that, no thank you Lastly, I personally think the slide should be faster In my GoPro video it looks quick, when you're actually doing, it ain't. I was it was abit faster. But nonetheless, it was still great fun and glad I did it

A tricky review to leave, as the staff and service from them was faultless, and the views from the top of the structure were great (see photos below), however, the weather is fully to blame for our bad experience. So, this was something that we'd wanted to do for so long - ride the world's longest tunnel slide - but unfortunately, due to the severe rain and thunderstorms in London during our visit, our 13:00 booking was delayed due to 'inconsistencies during the ride'. Then after over an hour of waiting for this to be rectified, was cancelled altogether, which was disappointing beyond words. We did however get to visit the observation deck twice, which provides views of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, Canary Wharf, central London, and beyond. There is an exterior walkway extending around the indoor observation deck, that overhangs the structure, and also a gift shop for souvenirs at the base and a small cafe just next to the site itself too. Tickets can be bought online in advance, or in the main entrance, and two options are available; Skyline Views with The Slide, or just the Skyline Views option (where you take the elevator back down). Overall our experience was disappointing, to be let down at such incredibly short notice, although the observation deck is certainly a nice attraction within itself. We received a full refund for not being able to ride the slide, however, when it is something that had been planned and booked for so long, a refund doesn't quite cut it for missing out on the experience.

  • Kerrie Rickett

Do not book this experience directly or through a voucher! I read reviews going back a year saying they cancel the experience on the day and do not notify customers at all so people are wasting money on the experience, travel and accommodation for nothing, and then have to argue for a refund. This is 100% true! We got given the experience as a gift, paid for accommodation in London, train tickets to get there, and tube travel on the day, to get there and find ourselves and several others being told the slide was not operational, we had received no email, no phone call nothing! All we kept getting was the same ‘well it’s cancelled’ so basically it’s cancelled that’s your problem not ours. The receptionists were lying to customers saying they couldn’t contact them due to GDPR on the side of the sister company they work with which is FALSE. They then proceeded to tell us it was due to storm antoni, a storm they knew about on the Friday before our experience on the Saturday and were told to contact us about, I have the emails to prove this, emails which also prove they emailed direct bookings through them and purposely ignored those with a voucher. Getting a refund is a nightmare, and more time wasted, but I have reported them to the ombudsmen, as this company has no regard for its customers at all! Save yourself the aggro and book something else!

Myself and my 16-year-old daughter recently visited the ArcelorMittal Orbit, which is a giant observation wheel and slide in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this experience to others. We started by riding the slide, which was very exciting given how high it was and the length of time you got to ride it. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but it's a lot of fun. After the slide, we went to the viewing level, which is located at the top of the Orbit. The views of London from the viewing level are amazing. You can see all the way from Buckingham Palace to the Shard. The outside viewing platforms are very good, although if you're not good with heights, this is definitely something that will test your nerves. We didn't do the abseiling, but my sons are planning to come in the future to give it a go. Overall, we had a really enjoyable time. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the views are simply amazing. If you're looking for a fun and exciting activity in London, I would definitely recommend visiting.

Awesome must-visit tourist attraction! The staff were unbelievably professional and so friendly. The views from the top were amazing, even with rolling clouds and scattered showers when we were there. The covered spiral staircase down was really pleasant, I enjoyed the soundscapes, a real sensory treat! The only problem is that my legs were shaky for a day afterwards! XD The slide itself was very exciting, made me feel like a kid again. Just as adrenaline-boosting as a roller-coaster, but without the jarring accompanied nausea! About as expensive as you'd expect from a London tourist trap, but I'd definitely recommend for young adults that can enjoy scenery as well as a little shot of fun! Again, I really can't sing high enough praise of the staff, they helped us with our luggage, made us feel reassured about the order and timings for our slide and viewing, without feeling rushed, and professional about Covid safety. They were always smiling and making comfortable small-talk and even when I misheard the safety instructions for the slide, the staff were happy to repeat slower and clearer for me. Thank you so much!

  • Andrew Moore

After travelling for around an hour and waiting half an hour we were told that we would not be able to do the slide due to the weather conditions despite the slide being fully enclosed due to 'poor rider experience' After a bit of questioning and getting through their deliberately opaque language it seems that the ride is badly designed and that under certain weather conditions riders are at risk of getting stuck. There is absolutely no information on their website indicating that weather could cause any issues and it is clear the company only cares about profit instead of appropriately informing people of this risk. Staff are incredibly rude and lazy - we booked our tickets ahead of time so it would have been very easy for them to call us and inform us of the situation. When we gently suggested the the staff that they include this on their website they seemed completely unable to understand our suggestion. Avoid at all costs.

It is an amazing experience to visit this sculpture and observation tower in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford (East London)! Highly recommend! Because you could enjoy the stunning views of the 2012 Olympic stadium, Olympic park, even Canary Wharf, the cable car in North Greenwich and the City of London (if the sky is clear)! It is a family friendly attraction, too! When you look at the very busy Stratford rail and bus station, the trains and buses are very cute and moving like toy trains and buses! My young family members like it so much! Moreover, the staff of this attraction were very friendly. Just one thing was the software which introducing the other places needed an update. For example, the cable car in North Greenwich/ Royal dock has changed its name recently! I definitely would like to come again and try the the world’s longest tunnel slide!

The slide is an enjoyable 40 sec exhilarating ride to the bottom and there are some decent views from the top, but at £17 it is over priced. They also need to have a consistent policy on items in pockets on the slide. There are lockers - we stuck our bags in them - but we kept our phones on our person so that we could take pictures of the view at the top; we were told by a staff member this would be okay as long as our pockets were zipped. Then, at the top of the sculpture, we were in the middle of taking photos when a different staff member told us we would have to go all the way back down to the lockers as our phones were not allowed. Not sure why we were picked on as loads of other people were taking photos before going the slide. The same staff member also rushed us to the slide whilst we were enjoying the view at the top. For £17 we would have liked longer; we were at the top for less than 30 minutes. This spoiled the whole experience.

  • Deepa P

Slide experience was cool..It took 40 seconds to whizz from top to bottom , including 12 loops round the tower! Felt like a big kid again! Views were okay (have seen better from other spots in London). Place can do with some refurbishment.. Two star less because of poor hygiene with safety equipments during pandemic . Helmet and safety sleeves were reused and felt old and smelly! Staff was friendly. The lady at the elevator was the only one who looked serious about disinfecting and sent each group in separate elevators. You are asked to leave your belongings including phone in the lockers.. So you go up do the slide then take your phone from the lockers and go back up again to take the pictures of the skyline views

Okay hello everybody I will tell you about my horrible expeeriance in the orbit in Stratford. First impression was that architect was having a bad day when he designed this, I mean seriously did he just scribble on the blueprints and the builders puzzled it together to make a red scrapyard looking structure? Next the view was horrible, I was out looking at 360 views of a concrete jungle, there was nothing to see, totally not the London skyline you would desire to see. Worst part was the staff, I tried to go down the stairs to leave this boring place and then I was taken hostage and shoved down a slide like tube to the bottom. This is unacceptable.

Do not visit this attraction, I traveled to the East London Wasteland today only to be told that the Orbit is closed for a private event this Tuesday. No indication of this on the website or on Google. Large parts of the access routes were also closed due to construction work in the Queen Elizabeth Park. Hardly any indication of a detour. I just lost an expensive half day of vacation. No wonder the newspapers are talking about the great white elephant of Queen Elizabeth Park. Better use your time for something else.

I was quite excited, to be able to see from close in a person this tower/sculpture. Amazing engineering and design of this high 115 meter high-tall Slide Tunnel Tower. So there is two options: 1 you buy ticket just to see at the very top the skyline view, and take great pictures of all the city horizons. 2 or buy slide tunnel ticket to just slide throughout famous and worlds longest tunnel. And ofcourse you can both tickets/options of course if you want :) i highly recommending this place for families, and friends. You could experience memorably moment's enjoy :)

  • Chris

Would not recommend a visit. Make sure you get in contact with them. On arrival they said they had not received our booking, in spite taking my money. I rang 17 time with no answer, sent loads of emails without response for them. Upon arriving I explained the situation and was told by an very rude man, that smirked and said I reply to all emails myself. Clearly not, was made to look stupid and basically called a liar in a massive cue of people. Even showed my email to prove my point, that there was no response. Poor, poor customer service! Would not recommend!!

  • Sarah Ottewell

This is an amazing experience and super value for money. The staff were very informative even when the slide was not ready for use because it wasn't fast enough !!!!!! It really isn't for the faint hearted and I would recommend paying the extra for the Go Pro, (it will keep you smiling time after time), even though I screamed most of the way down The views from the top are incredible and they don't rush you, even if you are just a spectator. Absolutely loved this and we would do it again in a heartbeat. The best 38 seconds you will have in your life.

  • Ms Blake

Took my son here for a Sunday excursion. First we up to the top (2nd floor) to check out the views of London, we could see the shard, central London, the top of O2 building and other known landmarks. Then we made our way down to the first floor to take the slide down. My son had a camera attached which recorded his message as he went down the slide. It was a brilliant experience and would come again very soon. I purchased my tickets from get you guide. Staff were friendly and polite and it's something for the kids to do which isn't expensive.

  • Katy

So the kids absolutely loved it. We only did the viewing gallery, not the slide, and this is very expensive for a view and trip in a lift. We walked down the stairs which prolonged it a bit. I ended up buying our tickets via a buy a gift package (including London Stadium tour), which represented much better value than booking direct, especially during peak times. The slide looked like fun for those who were brave enough!

I was given this experience as a gift which came with a bottle of prosecco. There was a bit of a wait to get on the ride but it was fun watching others go down. The slide was enjoyable but was over quite quickly. I would recommend trying it once but it's not something I'll keep going back to try. I would buy tickets in advance and tell them you have a ticket with prosecco at reception.

Loved this experience again with my son after visiting 4 years ago. There is a bit of a wait whilst waiting to go down the slide, but worth it! Lockers available to place belongings and views from the top are great too. I wouldn't pay the advertised price direct on website as we found an offer from buy a gift, an adult and child for £22 rather than £54 from the orbital website.

Rip off price, for one go down a slide! You are much better off spending a few pounds extra and spend the entire day with access to many rides at a theme park such as Chessington or Thorpe Park. Overhyped, aimed at tourists. There should be a concessionary ticket available for local Borough residents who paid for this through their council tax bill when it was built!.

This was a great vantage point for taking zoomed out shots of some interesting places near stratford and on the horizon. There is a slide that goes down a hundred metres or so, which I avoided. It was really windy, and as I stood still holding on to a perimeter railing, I could feel the structure was swaying a little, which was only slightly disorientating.

Been up the tower twice now, lovely views of London from the top even on a grey cloudy day. The slide is lots of fun and takes quite a while to go down! It was fun. The slide is cool, wish it was longer or you were allowed to do it twice etc. The staff are friendly, but the process is slow. I have heard it from many others they are usually behind schedule. Even we were delayed by 30mins before we could take our side down. The slide is exciting, it has moments of light and darkness, darkness being the most fun. For the 40secs of slide, and 30mins delayed the price is expensive.

  • Carrera-Leigh Dix

Had such a fun time on the slide on my birthday. Because it was a weekday and not a school holiday, the queues were minimal (great for people not fond of heights). The staff were really chatty and friendly, the ride itself was over quickly but a great experience, and then you can go back up to take in the views afterwards. Be warned though, if you walk down the ramp from the top, you may end up with wobbly legs by the bottom!

  • martin lane

So we traveled all the way to London to celebrate my birthday, we stayed just around the corner from the sculpture which offer great night time views, the day of the slide it was too windy and we could only view from the platform, which was disappointing, but we were up there so long it reopened and away we went! It was all over very quickly but I'm glad I did it! The views were spectacular even on a misty November day.

  • Vivienne Wong

The slide is really fun! They give you an arm guard and head guard to wear, and you sit/lie down on a thin cushion to go down the slide. It's a super thin side with lots of turns! The viewing platform was okay. There are some great views, you can see The Shard, Gherkin, the O2 etc from there. It's a bit of shame that the viewing platform area is a bit bare and would have been nice with some chairs, or cafe or something.

  • Steven Vacher

I was lucky enough to get a trip up the Orbit for a work event. Even better, the event included a ride down 'The Slide'. Thankfully I was the second person in the queue for the slide because they closed it for the rest of the night after I rode it. I would have been very upset if I had paid the £16.50 and not got to ride it. The views from the upper deck are superb, I might have to come back during the day.

  • Leticia M.

Staff very friendly. It’s not really near anything but it is the tallest slide in the world so it is worth Checking out. They don’t allow cellphones on the ride. They do have lockers. You pay 1 euro for a token but you get it back at the end once you remove your contents from the locker and return the token. you do have to wear a ski mask and elbow sleeves to protect as you go down. It does go very fast.

  • Ana Cardoso Cachopo

Great views, fast lift, nice staff. I enjoyed going down the slide, it was a lot less scary than I expected. I usually go on water slides, and I usually feel the speed a lot more, maybe because in this case there is a nice and comfortable mat between my body and the slide. What I did not like is that we can hire a camera to film the descent, but we are not allowed to take our own tough camera instead.

  • Hailey Adams

Was a bit scary up here for me if you don't like heights but tell you what you definitely need to check out the views of you can make it up there. At sunset too, it looks amazing and completely takes your breathe away. What a stunning view. If you are adventurous, you can check out the slide experience.

It's a nice day out and a good reason to go and see the Olympic Park. However, the viewing platform was thoroughly underwhelming - there was metal fencing and mesh around most area which really got in the way. The slide on the other hand was a lot of fun! It takes some courage to get into it but then it's 20 or so seconds of fun. You can't really see anything sliding down though.

  • L Sa

I actually thought the slide was pretty slow, and even had the feeling like I would actually stop. The staff were great, no problems, just a very underwhelming experience. I am a fan of extreme sports, maybe I've done too many adrenaline activities which flatlined this experience for me.

Booked the slide with my kid, only to be informed that the slide is closed upon arrival. Was rescheduled for the next day, only to be informed via email that the slide is still closed 40mins. before the scheduled slot, which of course meant that we were already on our way out there. Terrible experience. Hope at least the refund won’t be auch a nightmare. Don’t book.

Iconic structure of the 2012 Olympic Park... And you can take a slide down it. Visited on a Sunday as was passing, no queues or waiting (but you do need to book ahead for the slide - thankfully) Great views of the park and across London. If you are in the area it's worth a visit.

Don't get me wrong the view is incredible but is not worthy 12 pound ticket for that. You can go to the second floor through an elevator (this is were the view is) inside the main room there are two big mirrors and you can se the other side of thw room but in distortion (It's really cool) . On the first floor ia the slide (I didn't try it but looks cool)

This was a big sculpture thing made for the 2012 Olympics with a slide stuck to the side. It’s an awesome ride lasting about 40 seconds and not for the feint hearted or the fat! It’s a tube that you ride in, wrapped in a kind of sleeping bag and reach speeds of 15mph. Nice view from the top of the London skyline.

Great viewing platform, although a bit more info would be useful. The slide is good and H&S before you go is well explained. Once at the bottom that's it. Surprised no photos available of you on the slide, no cafe or toilets.

Went in April 2018 was brilliant! Slide was fun shame it was cloudy so we couldn’t see the views. Found it a bit annoying how you couldn’t bring your own camera but you could borrow a GoPro for £15.Also one of the staff members was rude to us in the gift shop. But all in all a brilliant day out!

  • Cathleen Loh

Good views of London from the top deck, which was included in the ticket for the slide. It’s a little pricey but the slide was very fast and felt almost like a rollercoaster, which makes it more worth it.

Amazing views especially during the west ham game. The crowd chants and seeing them pile out from above is like seeing a wilderbeast migration . Slide was fun but it's not as scary/exhilarating as you think since no views of outside world. Price is a tad steep but overall great day

The venue was easy to get to from the station, staff were a little abrupt when dealing with parties attending at the reception counter. Could do with a little more training in customer service.

Great 360 view of London and the slide is great fun! Thankfully there is a lift to the top! There are both indoor and outdoor viewing areas over 2 levels. There are also a pair of very large concave mirrors that mess with your head on one of the levels.

  • Neil Bird

Great experience. Makes you feel like a big kid as you fly down the tube. An attraction which can be enjoyed by all ages. Views from the top are really good as also as you get a 360° look across the London city scape and its surrounding areas.

  • Virgilio Jarrín

Just brilliant! To be fair, you'll be scared to death at the beginning, specially reading that it is the tallest tube slide in the world. But you get into your little sack and jump down and it's an amazing experience! Super safe and cared

2nd visit here over the weekend , my granddaughter, who is 8, was determined to go down the slide so long as she was taller than the minimum height of 1.3m or 4ft 3inches. She was by 1 inch and now nerves joined in with the excitement but

  • Steve Ellis

Great view over london did the slide down the world highest and longest closed tunnel slide which is great fun. You can leave your personal items in the lockers provided do the slide then go back to the top and take great pics of the area.

  • Michelle Burns

I will give it another rating when we have succeeded in doing the slide. It was being tested and found to have issues when we went for our booked slot. Still got to go to the viewing platform... And walk down the exterior spiral staircase

  • Kellie Saunders

Booked ahead online. No tickets available the day of at the location. Lines to get in are long. Time was 345 took an hour for one ride down the slide.

I had booked two tickets for this experience, for my wife's birthday. However there were train strikes on the day we booked, so we tried to ring up to amend the booking, but no matter how many times I rang, no one answered etc. So we

I am a disabled person. I couldn't use it as my carer wasn't allowed to get on the slide with me. It's very expensive and no doubt why it's not busy there at all. Also it looks like when your on the slide you don't see anything More

  • North London

The staff were great, friendly informative and professional. The wait for the slide was around 40 mins but went quickly. The slide it self was good fun without being too demanding. Worth a trip, around £18 pp. Parking at Westfield

  • Mily Proff

Such wonderful staff! Thank you Kern, Janie and Hayley for taking such good care of my son - who thoroughly enjoyed himself! NEWHAM COUNCIL PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS PLACE REOPENS ITS TOO GOOD TO BE LEFT AS JUST A STRUCTURE!

  • D Tailor

Great place to visit, the slide was a good experience, anxious at first, but once it started and I was on my way, the experience was amazing. Great veiw across London too. Great overall experience and highly recommend.

  • Mad Morty

It looks rather odd from the outside and you can definitely recognise it from afar. It's a nice fun activity that isn't even expensive! I recommend doing down the slide, it's fun and not too extreme.

Absolutely Awesome experience...the views are amazing...and then the Slide down...AWESOME...quick (blink and you will be sorry) staff are superb and friendly...another one ticked off my To Do List...

  • Chris Kapp

This structure is just amazing. The views from the top is spectacular. Recommend doing the slide, so much fun. But book in advance and get an extra go also, you definitely would want to go again.

This slide was so much fun! My colleague yelled all the way from the top to the bottom because the ride was so intense. The views from the top is also spectacular

Managed to get a discount as we were going to Abba Voyage. I’ve also wanted to visit the tower. It’s good fun and you should leave at least an hour for a visit
