My fiancé is from Venezuela so I’ve tried her arepas and I’ve tried cachapas from different countries. I gotta say this place makes way better arepas than my fiancé ( I hope she doesn’t read this review.) and what makes it so good is the quality Ingredients they use and how fresh they are. Corn they use to make it is top notch and makes the world of a difference. The Cachapa full house was so delicious and tasty! The cheese, plantain and the meat combo is perfect! Doesn’t seem good but once you take a bite it will change your mind! Blast of savory and the cheese will balance everything out. I’m not a plantain guy but it surprisingly went well with it! Tequeños, the more sophisticated adult version of mozzarella sticks. Instead of mozzarella & breadcrumbs they use queso blanco. Delicious stretchy, salty, cheesy goodness wrapped in a crispy pastry like shell. We were fighting over the first round of these, so we put a second order right after! And they came out just as fresh, and scrumptious. Definitely worth the wait. 9/10 would recommend! Def would love to come back!

I was sick and tired of the same ol lunch meal and decided to go to South America for something I've had before but not in a long time. Put a mobile order for pickup and headed out to pick up my meal. I arrived and the typical lunch line was there. Headed towards the pickup counter to inform the staff that I had a to go order. No one acknowledged me and I had to jump in after the server had handed out an order to another customer in order to pickup my meal. I ended up ordering the capresa jamón arepa and bolitas de yuca. After a few initial bites of the arepa I grew tired of the chunk of cheese which is flavorless. I took it out and finished adding the cilantro sauce which is great. The bolitas de yuca, were good still had a little crunch, but would skip the sweet guava-based sauce. Overall, not impressed especially with customer service. I'll give this place one more shot and try a different type of arepa, hopefully service and food will be better.

They get my business any day! Arepa Zone is uniquely original, fantastically tasting and conveniently located. I was so happy to have a little taste of Hispanic food in D.C while on my four months internship. Their arepa trio is great if you want to eat a little now and then later or just have a taste of all their popular flavors. Don’t let the size fool you though, they are small but packed with filling. The large arepas also do not disappoint and any choice in the menu is a great one ☝️.Don’t forget your tequeños! Their drinks are also pretty good, especially this one made with sugar cane and lemon (delicious). As for dessert their Tres Leches is to die for and such a treat to take home. So happy to have found this place

Amazing experience here and I guess it helps that it's my first time eating Venezuelan food. I Cachapas , arepas, and tequeños and I loved it all. My friend introduced me so I had to sample as much as I could. Tequeños were flakey with a light crisp and the cheese inside so pleasant. The Cachapas full house was just a treat and an extremely hearty one at that. I never though I would eat plantains like that but it went so well with everything and it had this subtle chewiness with crunchy edges while the filling of meat and veggies along with their custom sauce, which is amazing, was sooooo flavorful and tasty. Everything felt like indulging in extreme comfort food. You might be a little sluggish when you leave but with a permanent memory of some excellent food. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.
Yum!!!! I was a little intimidated with the menu but we loved everything we got. The pabelleon was my favorite. Easily could be shared. It has that yummy arepa but with delicious shredded beef, plantains (for a bit of sweet, cheese and yummy sauce. Hands down my favorite. We also got some things to share. Also tried the Arepa samplers which were fun. We liked beef the best. The dipping sauce is so refreshing and yummy. Like a lime cilantro ranch My kids fell in love with the cheese Arepa which had some yummy corn and cheese on top. Finally, we got the little cheese balls which were super yummy and filling. We will be back.

there's street parking, food was not what i expected, we ordered arepas, they the filling was actually okay, but the arepa itself was bland and old, after placing the order it took them 25 minutes to complete, bathrooms weren't available, apparently they were being cleaned (we left after 1 hour and they were still cleaning them) note that this was between 9:30 am and 10:30 am (1 hour after opening and bathrooms weren't clean and ready to go?). not coming back, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Must try!! Great prices for the portions, especially on the patacón. It can be slow during busy hours and food takes a few minutes to make, so I recommend ordering online ahead of time for pick up if you don’t plan on eating there. I’ve also ordered catering from this location and it was just as great!!

Food was alright, the only I really hated, it was the lady's attitude at front, she was a Colombian, but she had a great attitude with us, but yesterday there was a new person training, and she was not very nice with her, she was trying to push her tod o things fast, me and my family hated that, because she was just learning, but she was not getting a good treatment, food was nice, cachapa very good, tequeños alright, empanadas very nice but that lady's attitude was disappointing, please stop treating people like that

My wife and I were looking for a good place to have lunch, while in DC for business at TSA. We were very satisfied with everything about this place. The owner even stopped what he was doing to come over to explain the menu in more detail to us. It was because of that extra touch of service that my wife got what she wanted and was very happy with how delicious it was. We'll be back next time in the area.

Venezuelan food is delicious. We tried the full house cachapa, arepa peluda, arepa Santa bárbara, and empanadas and everything was so good. Service is A1...fully recommended Update December 20, 2023 They change the crew, there is a fat guy and a young woman that do not care about customers. Management must take action or will lose customers. The golfiado is reheated in the microwave, horrible, don't but it

I love the primera dama cachapa, I have been visiting this restaurant for the last 3 years and I still saying I haven’t tried another cachapa with better taste in the DMV area. They’re really doing great and always try to improve on quality of food and customer service. Prices are ok but they deserve the money for the quality and taste of food. You should also try as a dessert the tres leches and this will blow your mind! They also have a small stand with Venezuelan products that are really delicious!
On Sunday I was with my family in this place and one of the people who works there is a young white woman with a Colombian accent. I asked her for a cigarette for my drink and she was at the cashier at that moment but she was unoccupied talking to another and I turned my eyes and made a angry face for this, it seemed in very bad taste because I really did not get them on my own, the owner should keep a closer eye on his staff.

the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life!!! rice completely dry and hard! the beans without any type of color or flavor! It seems like they transfer it from the can to the plate, the meat is old, I wanted some cachapas and when the cashier told me that they don't make it, they buy them from a company already made and you just heat it up! Wow, I paid $30 dollars for frozen canned things, they just heat it up and throw it on your plate!

It was OK. Service is slow. Food was a little dry. It didn't have a ton of flavor for me. We tried the mini flight of pork, beef and chicken. I felt like it really needed some lime or lemon. Hubs tried the ham and cheese. The cheese and ham were not warmed just thrown on the arepa. The arepa itself reminded us of an English muffin. Overall ok.

This is a very nice and convenient place to eat Venezuelan arepas. They have transformed this place in a famous spot in DC. We were there on a hot Friday, and it was busy. They were able to attend clients in a faster and more organized manner. The only thing Cachapas were kind of cold, they should be served hotter.

Delicious! I wasn't sure if it would fill us up but my goodness it was hearty and extremely satisfying. We had plenty to eat! I had the white arepa with beef plus added plantains. The corn arepas are much bigger and I suggest selecting those if very hungry. The fried yuca was the best yuca I'd had so far.

We loved this place. Originally looking for some Colombian food but it was very similar to Colombia cuisine and it was worth it. 4 stars because the food was very heavy and oily. The portions were huge! I was only able to eat one arepa stuffed with pork. Also it's very expensive! More
What a surprise! They make a good arepa, but the combination of seasoned meat, sweet plantains, and cornmeal is really impressive. At first I thought this $10 meal was small, but as it turns out it is a perfect amount for lunch. I would definitely come back to try some more items.

Delicious. I get the vegetarian arepas every time I go: beans, cheese, plantains, and avocados. There are always a lot of people here at lunch, but don't worry, the line moves really fast. They also have amazing fresh fruit juice here.
The food at Arepa Zone is delicious! It was my first time there and I’m already thinking about planning my next visit there. I had the pabellòn and the beef was so juicy and well seasoned, my mouth is watering over the memory of it.
They of course have wonderful vegan, vegetarian and meat arepas and empanadas but what I really enjoyed was their chunky green cream sauce and their freshly squeezed mulberry juice. Great portions for sharing, indulging or feasting!
Great! I’ve been here a bunch of times and it’s always great. I’ve had the mini arepas and the cachapas. They also have good price specials during happy hour. It’s definitely one of my preferred spots downtown. More

The Full House (shredded beef, plantains, beans, and cheese) is everything dreams are made of. It is delicious! I drive all the way from Gaithersburg for them. The cheese tequenos are also very good.
Last year we visited this place and it was amazing. However, this time the Cachapas were cold and so was the meat inside the empanas, little disappointed so I hope they take this into consideration
This is a great restaurant to try out arepas with different fillings. I ordered the meat lovers flight mini arepa trio which included Chicken & Avocado, Shredded Beef and Shredded Chicken arepas.
First time here. I got the chicken and cheese arepa. It was good but I've definitely had better. The green sauce that comes with it on the side saved it. It was pretty fulfilling for $8.25
