To put it succinctly, this is simply the Best African arts and crafts store I have ever been into in numerous trips to Johannesburg. The buyers for the store clearly handpick each of the items displayed. It is a totally hassle free and pleasant shopping experience where you have time to browse without any pressure to buy. They have extraordinary items for the connoisseur and they have high-quality less expensive items for the every day shopper. The people are nice, the quality is high, the variety is excellent. Needless to say we spent more than we expected but more importantly we feel great about what we are taking home.

Art Africa is a great option for getting souvenirs if you are overwhelmed by the Rosebank African Craft Market and want to be able to browse in a leisurely manner. It's on a charming walkable street in Parkview, and they have a wide variety of typical African art, especially beaded stuff and textiles. Note that it isn't the best source of wooden carvings or statues (rather hit Rosebank for that).

Lovely shop with art and souvenirs from all across Africa. A bit more expensive than other places, but the best variety of products. Almost everything you see can be purchased. However, there are so many things that it takes while to take in everything. Bring time and money (credit cards are accepted). Come again if you can after a few weeks as they stock up with new items seasonally as well.

True to its name, this shop has a wide selection of art and crafts from Africa. As well as bead and wire work, they sell ceramics, carved masks and much more. Some things you can easily find elsewhere at lower prices, like the bead and wire work, but this shop has so much more and you don't get the hassle and haggling of some of the African arts markets.

One of my favorite places to pick up gifts to take back to the USA. They have items from all over Africa, so make sure you ask in case you want something specifically fro ZA. Prices are ok ... no negotiating but you definitely get high quality stuff. Only bummer is that they aren't open on Sunday.

Great store for Africa Crafted gift. The crafts are carefully select from all over the country and are the best example and quality. The service is great and their product excellent value. Never disappoints.

Art Africa has a great selection of local artisanal and craft products. It is my go-to outlet for gifts for international trips and for tourists visiting South Africa.
