I visited Historic Asbury United Methodist Church with a bus tour group in honor of Mary McLeod Bethune's 143rd birthday. Mary McLeod Bethune was a church member of Asbury United Methodist Church. We were greeted by the Asbury Church Historian, James A. Wright.
Every 4th Sunday, Asbury sponsors the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program where they feed 250-350 homeless residents of Washington, DC. The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.- ΟΛΑ chapter and other volunteers began aiding in this effort since September 2017.
This is my home and my sanctuary. I dont have strangers here at all. If you're in the Nation's capital then this is the place you should be. There isn't more love in any place else in my fair city.
I attended Easter 10:45 a.m. Many of my favorite Easter Hymns were sung. The sermon was divine. The choir sang beautifully and the organist played masterfully. I enjoyed the entire service.
The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. - Omicron Lambda Alpha chapter brothers volunteer at Asbury's Neighbor-to-Neighbor program every 4th Sunday to feed the homeless.
Oldest African American church in the same location in the District of Columbia. 1836 founded. 1915 building torn down and replaced but still the same church.
Every Sunday at 1pm , they let homeless on to their 2nd floor for snacks, and dinner and got to watch the game 49ers vs Washington Redskins.
This church is so great, made me feel like home, especially homecoming all the activities were amazing. Bingo was my favorite . …
