although I got the first check up for free (which was good) the vet was most definitely trained to get as much money out of me as possible. so, to start... wanted to change over to this one as it is close to my house, and as I no longer have a car it was hard to get up to our previous vet's. Firstly, it started with weighing both the cats, and was told they were both underweight and needed blood tests (£80 each). Vaccinations (about £40 each). One of them had a serious tooth problem which needed to be done ASAP (£350- £500), but needed the blood test first to check that she could handle the anaesthetic. (Was told one tooth needed to be extracted). Then came the, "oh, but if you pay a monthly fee of (around £20 a month) it'll make everything a little bit cheaper. Decided to go back to our old vet and ask for a second opinion. Was told that they were both a healthy weight for their age, and the bigger one had finally lost enough to not be overweight any more. Then on to the matter of the "tooth". Turns out she had two bad teeth, both needed to be taken out but wasn't as serious as had been made out. They offered to do both teeth and throw in the blood test for free at the same time, all for between £350-£500. Now, what occurred to me was that Ashton Veterinary Surgery, would have done the blood test (£80) first, then taken the one tooth (£350-£500), then I assume told me a few months down the line that the other one was bad and that needed to be extracted too. There were a few other things as well regarding trying to obviously make as much money out of me as possible. I understand that they don't get funding and rely on our money, but this is ridiculous. No wonder people end up not getting pets or let them suffer due to high vet costs. I'd recommend Avon Lodge instead. Good honest vets, aware that people don't have loads of money.

Been a customer at highcroft for many years. With the new pet health certificate which replaced the old pet passport i felt totaly ripped off by this group. £230 this certificate cost me and it was only the fact i was called back to ireland urgently due to a family illness that i had to get another form done. So i rang a more local vet who could do it for at a cost of £120 and that included some medication to calm my dog on the ferry. I just can't fathom how highcroft can justify charging people this huge amount for the same certificate and for the record we were actually stopped for checks this time and everything was spot on. So be aware pet lovers shop around they are not the only vets.

Not to be trusted! My pet was given the wrong vaccination, even though it was made very clear exactly what he was supposed to have and the receptionist even put my pets name on the correct vaccine. I stated to the vet exactly which vaccine my pet was to have in the appointment qnd she still give the wrong vaccine! They are now denying any record that I even asked for it, even though I have evidence that I did. They just want to brush this under the carpet and get rid of me to save their backs! Extremely insensitive & unkind responses from clinical director Robert Parry-Hall, can tell he's not learnt any customer service skills yet!

First visit there with our budgie Polly, she was really poorly and had to be euthanized. Jemma was amazing with both myself and Polly. More than that we had a beautiful card from Jemma arrive today. Bought tears to our eyes. Such a thoughtful thing to do. I highly recommend taking your birds to see her. Thank you Jemma and the lovely receptionists too. X

The reception staff are very nice, and the waiting area bright and airy. The day I took my dog there was a veterinary student in attendance. The vet was very thorough when examining my dog and really seemed to care. They also seem to build a rapport with their customers which is pleasant. Really, it's like you might expect a veterinary practice to be.

The experience at the surgery was excellent, although overpriced but all vets are, they thoroughly checked over my rats and produced a sensible care plan to treat one's respiratory disorder. However, we were instructed to call to plan a telephone check-up 2 weeks later and when we did we never received said call.

Cannot praise them enough. I was told by a different vet practice that my hamster was beyond help and should be put to sleep due to a tumour.. I took her to Ashton vets and they operated on her, removed the tumour successfully and have been brilliant in her aftercare and i now have a happy healthy hamster again!

Not impressed with the fact that they cant take xrays at this branch and when you request xrays you are charged a referral fee of £127 to go to the hospital plus a further £800 plus for xrays. We have received better service from other vetinary practises , not worth the extra costs here.

Took my Noah there today for his first injections. Both the receptionist and the vet were amazing with me and him, answering all of my questions, cuddling him a lot and being patient with all of us. So happy to have such a great place so close to home!

Been coming here for a few years now. Friendly staff and they're generous with treats for the cat too! Easy to get an appointment. And if its urgent there's the option of the hospital on wells road. Can't fault this practice. Excellent all round!

Excellent level of care and the staff are very knowledgeable. Was really great to know they have so much experience with exotic pets. We received a recommendation for them from Bristol Zoo and couldn't be happier with the service we've recieved

I’ve only just registered with this practice but so far they have struck me as being incredibly fairly priced, very understanding, transparent and fair. They’ve also been lovely with my cat, Wilson. Very happy so far.

They care so much about our elderly cat and her health. We are given all the options and they often suggest the cheapest as the way to go. They are care driven and not profit driven. These guys are awesome

Brilliant practice, caring, and very fairly priced. Genuine interest in doing the right thing for the animal rather than always prioritising profits. Good availability hours wise and hospital availability.

Money grabbers. The pills they gave for my dog less than a month date on them. Yet the 30 pills in the box would last her 6 months. We never see the same vet always a fresh out of college new person.

I never used them as a vet because the day after I sighed up for their services my cat died. But I did take my cat there after he died and they were very caring. I even got a card posted to me.

Can't fault the care they show to pet and owner when pts is on the cards I received a lovely card afterward with my cats paw prints inside Things like that help the grieving
