Nice little gem. I completely disagree with Teresa Smith's review below stating target audience is the disabled! I very much doubt she has tried maneuvering a disabled person around this place! There's a changing places room and a lift. That's it! It certainly isn't easy maneuvering a power chair around this building! There's little room in the cafe, and that's not due to the excess of wheelchair users! It's due to the fact that it's cramped and extremely difficult to get a wheelchair in there. To be honest the only people I've ever seen there with a wheelchair is us! So sorry Teresa if we've caused you a moment of inconvenience, but my friend with MS has a lifetime of inconvenience. The staff have always been friendly, although the cafe staff were a bit glum.

Great museum! An easy walk from the train station and into the city centre, open 11am-4.30pm. Has several exhibits running, some based around Leicestershire and Leicester's history which are very informative. I saw 'Colour Coded Birds' by Lucy Stevens that brought together ornithology and art. There is an ancient Egypt section, a dinosaur section and a natural history section which are great for primary school kids and an area downstairs specifically for small children to interact with. There is also some pre and post war art, from Die Brucke to the Weimar Germany - I personally liked the woodblock prints. Would definitely recommend as part of a day out, could spend anywhere from an hour upwards depending on how much information you read!

  • Dorde Vranjes

Friendly staff in both reception and cafe. Nice food. Lots of art & crafts on sale as well as on display, which makes it an interesting place to look around. Lots of activities go on at the venue. From Art and craft, to poetry and performing arts. Newspapers available to read in the cafe while you enjoy a beverage, snack or both.

Be aware this is a centre aimed at the disabled hence if you are able bodied and not in attendance on someone with a disability you may find you are not really welcome. Standard university tea and coffee service plus sandwiches etc. Eating area very cramped for the target customer hence little space for others.

If you want to see a perfect example of how to waste public/private money in the 21st century on a badly run center then you need look no further than this place. The awful so called art it has been displaying comes with such pretentious champagne socialist feel it is quite sickening at times.

  • Nick Miller

Didn't know anything about this venue previously, but I do now know that the deputy director apparently thinks it's okay to make a public spectacle of himself throwing eggs at a statue. I do hope his management have a serious word with him about this.

The Attenborough Arts Centre is a gem in Leicester - and I don't just say that as a UoL student. They always have interesting and prescient exhibitions, their staff are extremely nice and it's even a great place to study or write essays.

  • Davina K

A nice place with good facilities and disabled access but the parking absolutely horrendous. I would not recommend for anyone to host anything here if they are expecting a large number of attendees or a good turn out.

  • Kerry Norton

My son goes here for his music and drama sessions with FTM Dance. It's a wonderfully welcoming place with a lovely cafe. Be warned that at the weekend the menu is limited (no soup etc) but staff are really friendly.

  • Anil Sivakumar

With a café at the entrance, the arts centre hosts several community events as well as its very own exhibitions. Starting from the bottom, the gallery continues along the upstairs corridor. Greatly inspirational...

  • Debra Chauhan

It's a lovely venue with lovely performance spaces. I play here with a samba band on a Sunday evening, and in the past have performed here with Magna Music Band/Drum and Brass. Nice cafe and friendly staff!

  • Rosie AA

Lovely place to sit and grab lunch, gorgeous displays to enjoy (the paper cranes are fabulous), or an opportunity to learn a new skill. Also a great option to buy birthday presents from gift shop. Go go go!

  • Huzaifah Bashir-Tariq

Took the children here for a family booked session. Amazing, friendly staff. Brilliant fun filled educational afternoon and a delicious coffee shop indoors too with ample space. Definitely worth a visit ☺️

  • John Finlay

Small gallery with changing exhibitions. A good cafe attached and music performances during lunchtime on Tuesdays from local amateur musicians. Parking might be a problem if the street is full.

  • Teri Wyncoll

Small but beautifully perfect in all ways. A hidden gem in Leicester's University campus. I cannot say more than a visit to the Centre, iether digitally or in person would say. Do it now !!!!!

  • jock octopus

Lovely place, has an art gallery. Try the free music on Tuesday lunch time. Food in the cafe is good enough, don't bother eating there if you are in a hurry, the service is dreadful.

  • Beatriz Laus (Bia)

Not so much to see. A little messy around everything, receptionist did not inform on the content of exhibition, they only give the directions. A good initiative but needs more care.

  • Dick Harris

A pleasantly surprising place, my wife and I met at Leicester Uni umpteen years ago, and this place didn't exist. So it was l;ovely to see this great addition to the alma mater

A very nice environment for a coffee and a catch up. They are primarily there for the disabled community and have many events and activities to do.

  • Rich Bromley

Your staff are a disgrace, particularly your Assistant Director Mr Webster. The man should really act his age not like a 18 your old Uni student!
