I recommend avoiding this place for anything other than oil change and fairly simple stuff. Keep the amount of work to a minimum - Mike gets confused and does not control the quality of what they are doing. Not like a representative at Morgan that interfaces to make sure things are done correctly. I have a BMW 545i and BMW 750i. I decided to invest in repairs to bring the cars to a reliable standard to avoid purchasing mew cars. From ECU replacement, coils/plugs, valve seal, transmission seal, struts, water pump, coolant lines, tires, you name it. So many items I think there were times where the processor Mike became confused. Recent experience was the straw that broke the camels back. I gave them too much work and they were not able to perform. Even have sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Initial valve seal oil leak repair resulted in my coolant lines adjacent to the valve cover leaking next day - $5200 to repair - did they offer any discount or recognition of root cause - of course not. After the valve cover continued to leak and two more attempts to repair (including putting the wrong gasket sealer admittedly) I was told the valve covers were now warped! Another $1460. So the valve cover seal cost me essentially $10,000! And my car was in the dirt lot - you guessed it... filthy inside and out - not even a wash! $38 to get the car cleaned after opening $10 grand! Replaced my ECU because I had engine and other fault lights going on ...... when the vehicle was returned the fault lights were still on (did anyone check?). Next $1000 for a new battery cable claiming fuse blew - did they diagnose wrong or blow the fuse when repairing!!~! Either way it was thousands! Installation of the transmission oil seal had to be done 2X. Needless to say while all this is happening - you don't have a car. On my 750 series I had been waiting for the rear struts to be replaced because overnight they would leak and the car would sink to the frame - saving some $'s cause it was $5400. When Mike asked me if finally wanted to replace them - I said yes. After I received the car - they were still leaking. I asked him if they were OEM parts, brought it back - told everything was fine. finally took it to Morgan and paid $273 for diagnosis. Morgan said the rear struts were leaking. When I took it back to Autoworks - they said they did not replace the rear struts - did the front struts!!! Michael somehow confused the work order because on a prior visit someone wrote the fronts had to be replaced - but the dialog and follow up was perfectly clear -FRONT - and guess what - they told me the price to repair front went up to $6900!!!! Morgan repaired them for $2500!!!! Oil pan seal replaced on the 750 - driving in St Petersburg and oil warning light goes on - pull over immediately. Turns out that the oil filter gasket was kinked when they re-installed (big leak) and they did not even replace the filter!!! Bob (the owner) is a nice guy - he needs to get staff that know how to operate the place. Get rid of the dirt lot - with BMW's and Audi's - they get filthy and folks with these cars do not want them in that environment. Customers need a print out of the work order so they can see the work being done and it should travel with the car so there are no mistakes. Debra does not like dealing with problems and is not good at it - I would replace her and Michael - get some staff that no how to run the place This was a difficult article to write given I will likely require the triple warranty and rework sometime in the future - and this just makes the relationship more difficult. Morgan here I come - I recommend staying away from Tampa Autoworks -

This is definitely a shop that I would highly recommend coming from a family who’s owed their own mechanic shop for over 50 years. I’m was very skeptical when I take my car to any shop and I have to say that hands-down they treat you like family. They truly do diagnose the car even if you take it for one issue, they do a thorough inspection. My ABS light and traction control light were on, and my car was not breaking properly, I immediately took it in and Michael one of the service reps was amazing. He is very kind and very upfront. It’s the best way to do business everyone was very courteous. They have water they have snacks they have Wi-Fi. They have a very nice room for you to relax and a very clean bathroom if you have to use it while they fix your car, not only did they fix the ABS and traction control issue. They were able to find that my car was leaking oil thanks to the thorough inspection that they did and I did not even ask them to do it and they fixed the valve cover gasket. No more oil leaks and my car is driving in tiptop shape. This is the place you want to go!!! the mechanic that worked on my car his name was Jason and if I ever have to go back, he is the only person that I will allow to touch my car that man is a genius with a vehicle and knows his way around a car. I’m sure they all do but it’s like finding a barber and not wanting to have anyone else touch your hair lol. Side bar they work with RepairPal which is with Carmax and the warranty they offer through Carmax. I have a 50.00 deductible which is waived at Carmax and any ReapirPal so I didn’t pay a fee it’s also a great place to get an oil change I spoke to many customers while waiting and everyone had nothing but good things to say. P.S. They also work on all types of foreign and domestic vehicles from Mercedes-Benz to BMW and Audi and the technicians are very well equipped to handle any kind of make or model.

Update: 29 November After returning my precious BMW for a further evaluation and repair. The problem was found and resolved thanks to Mr. Michael Burke who was super nice and kept me informed before and after. Thank you Michael. Original Review: I am devastated right now. I took my BMW 545i to them for an oil leak after my neighbor who is a friend of the owner gave me them as a recommendation. I spent several month saving for this and decided to go with them over the BMW dealership Service. Right now at this moment, that was a terrible dumb decision. The service advisor took my car in because it was leaking really bad and after a 3 day wait they were able to get to my car. Well to make a long story short, I received a bill of $3k and a car that still has a severe oil leak, making noise and shaking, grease everywhere on the interior, and an out of place alignment. I am a Veteran..disabled at that. I am not rich!! Fighting through tears, I read the itemized list and seen discrepancies where they charged me 3x for something that was only needed once. THAT'S POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE AND A SCAM. They made some repairs that could have waited for another time and disregarded the true reason I brought the car in for. They also failed to fully inspect the entire car including the tires prior to servicing it and afterwards. When I asked them to check my tires on the day of pick up because I could tell they were extremely low, I was told they didn't need air but when I returned to voice the discrepancies I asked the service advisor again to fill my tires and he went and got someone who said they were extremely low when he was filling them. Thank God. I will be returning to them November 27 to get my car properly repaired and to speak to the manager because there is no way I am letting them get away with that. I pray they don't try and railroad me with lies and made up reasoning.

Bad communication. Lack of caring. They kept my car over the weekend without warning. No call, no option to pick it up.The worst part is that the car WAS DONE!!! Generally poor communication practices all around. I've tried twice, to give them my business. They're right at the end of my block, so the convenience is undeniable. The first time, I told them i needed the car back ASAP for work. I needed an oil change and I wanted them to look at my trailer connection, because my trailer lights hadn't been working. After 4 hours, I call and find out that the oil change has been done for a while but no one has looked at my lights. I picked up the car, paid for the oil change and left. Dissatisfied, but not angry. The second time, it was my wife's car. We asked them to provide an estimate for the brakes, look into the air conditioner and change the oil. The seemingly nice woman we dealt with suggested an AC recharge and oil change, to which we agreed. She said they would provide a quote before beginning work on the brakes or anything further with the air conditioner. We told them they could have the car all day. By 5:15, I had not heard anything so I called them. Shortly after I got a call back saying that the car would not be able to be picked up till Monday morning because they were closed. Furthermore, we were told that the AC compressor needed to be replaced. Go figure, they went ahead and did the recharge on a non-working air conditioner anyway. Yes, I had to pay for it. One star should be reserved for an outright scam where there's no potential for satisfaction. These guys are a legitimate mechanic, I just don't like how they operate. If you don't mind, poor communication and shady sales tactics, these guys are for you. Good luck.

I very rarely write reviews, but felt it was necessary to review my experience here. I recently had a coolant reservoir replaced on my BMW E46. The repair was only supposed to take a few days, but I waited a week and a half for my car. Don't expect any communication from this place, because it is all on you. I am well aware that car repair shops are busy, but to never return a phone call is unacceptable. Upon paying for the repair and picking up my vehicle, I walk to my car to find my bumper damaged from a technician backing into it with a trailer hitch. Nothing was said to me prior to picking the vehicle up. They do not have any room for vehicles, so the likelihood of your car incurring damage is high. While that was being sorted out, I decided to check the repair and coolant. I opened the new reservoir, and there wasn't even coolant in it! ($1400 repair) Also, the car was filthy from the techs. I understand that accidents happen and they did rectify the damage, but even if the mishap did not occur, I would have driven my car off with no coolant and who knows what that would have caused. I will give them credit for reviewing the footage of what happened, since the tech did not inform them when they hit the car, and subsequently replacing my bumper. I hope that these concerns will be taken seriously for customers in the future and after speaking with Debra, I believe they will be addressed.

Nah. I tried to talk to you guys, and you threatened me. Being a hobby mechanic who actually went to school for it, i brought my car here when i got it to get some things checked out since i had never owned a BMW before and my book had not come in yet. Not to mention a high demanding job, i just didn't have the spare time. They had it for a week and a half. Apparently, the intake boot was ripped on the underside. I'm not sure why it took so long to find, but they didn't even address all the issues I inquired about (brake light, door locks, headlight). Then they quoted me $420 for the intake boot I got online for $20 and charged me $98 for a diagnostic test. Plus, when I got the car back, it was dirty as hell. On top of that, I had my vape, over $10 in change, brand new limited Adidas, replacement fobs, iCar DLC computer, and a sleeping bag stolen out of my car. They asked me to come in to get a check for the missing items. At the time, I wasn't aware my pc and shoes were gone. They did refund the charge for the diagnosis because they never did one, but would only do so if I signed an NDA, they didn't tell me about until I got there. I left a 1 star review with no comment, and they called me to remove it per the agreement. I refused, and now I have decided to actually leave my full review. They are liars and thieves that prey on those uneducated in auto mechanics.

Well, at first I thought they were a pretty good shop and got some minor work done. I sought them out because it was recommended to me by a friend. Then I started getting crazy overpriced quotes for labor and parts on future repairs. It would have cost me about $1,600 total to go with your shop to change my charge pipe when I ended up getting it done for $500 total, and that is taking into account that I already paid your shop for diagnostics, and that's a repeat customer price? Turned me off. Got my work done much cheaper somewhere else. Very nice seating arrangements, but at the end of the day someone wants to go and get their car fixed without any BS at a competitive price and I have too much to deal with as it is to negotiate every time something needs to be done to my car. Just give a fair price up front and you will continue growing as a business past your competitors. In response to your response, yes this is for AutoWorks of Tampa. If I got the refund of my pointless diagnostic fee, this review could be deleted and we can let bygones be bygones and chalk it up to a misunderstanding.

Over priced and poor customer service. There was a lack of communication from auto works. Brought my car in, I was told I would receive an email and a call with a breakdown on what was found wrong. I called right before closing and found out what was wrong due to never receiving a call or email. I gave the okay to have certain things repaired as long as it would be completed by the following Monday. I was told that they couldn’t promise Monday but Tuesday was a for sure. I called Monday to get an update and was told the car was in the bay being worked on and the parts would be in and fixed Tuesday. I called Tuesday and was told they were waiting on parts, so I went up to the shop. The car hadn’t been touched and I wasn’t told he must have been lied to about the car being worked on. I expressed my concerns with me and my family leaving for Ga, for thanksgiving that we needed the car fixed and ready to roll out. The lady in the front office who seemed to be calling the shots made things work, but it was a disaster of an experience.

I had my water pump replaced and coolant system worked on at Tampa AutoWorks. I own a 2014 Audi A6. The Audi dealership wanted to charge me over $3k with only a 1year warranty. Although Tampa Auto Works was a bit cheaper, they cover a 3yr/36k mile warranty. Tampa Auto Works had my car for a week but that is what I expected for the type of work being done. They took their time in getting it right and making sure everything was done correctly - this is what I appreciated. They even provided me a rental for the week at no cost. I visited the shop while they were working on my car and I saw the old unserviceable parts. The team was great in explaining what was being done to my car! They took exceptional car of my car. When they test drove the car, a pipe blew. They immediately ordered a new part and fix it. I’m in the military and have been stationed around the globe. I have taken my car in to several auto stores and can tell you that Tampa Auto Works is a professional place with integrity. Much appreciated it! Rob M

I saw their commercial on TV last week, and I knew just from their commercial alone that they were the ones to do the work on my Mercedes-Benz. So I called them right away, and spoke to Bill. He was very professional. Took my information about my car and set up an appointment for me to bring my car in. When I brought my car in, I met Bill and Debra. Debra is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. She was friendly and very knowledgeable and professional too. They told me after diagnosing my car, the issues and the cost. I was very surprised at the cost. I was expecting a steep price but it wasn't. I agreed on the price, paid the deposit and was told when to return and drop off my car. I dropped it off yesterday and got it back at the end of the day washed and running great!! No more oil leak. Thank you guys so much. I'll definitely return if I ever have any other work needed on my car. 10 Stars for sure!!!

Over all amazing experience. From the diagnostic, talking through what is recommended and they also did such an amazing job working with us while dealing with a warranty from another company. The notes alone were detailed enough to not have any questions on top of the constant communication and updates. Truly friendly people and have your best interest in mind. Had to have my transmission, flywheel, and diff replaced. Like I said, they communicated what is wrong, what will happen (specific parts and what other shops would be providing to help I.e. transmission rebuild), and even gave a within $20 estimate for the final before all was even done. If there is anything you need to be fixed, checked, replaced, or added on your car, I insist you stop by. Most transparent and friendly car shop I’ve had the pleasure working with. +rep Michael

I treasure my 2007 Hundyai Tuscon! I’m a Gramma on the road, and rotate driving to visit my kids & grands in Oklahoma, Virginia, South Carolina & Florida… While in Tampa, I have traditionally gone to the dealer I bought my car from in New Port Riches but wanted somewhere closer this visit. Pulled up European car repair shops and Google recommended Auto Works of Tampa as top rated. Took my baby in and they treated me with respect, actually listening to my rendition of my minor concerns of its timing and brakes! Then, they THOROUGHLY ran her through her paces! Turns out all was well @ I only had charges for the multiple tests & NO major repair bill. I am a happy car Mom and my baby purred me happily home to NC. I’ll be back to see Theresa & crew when I return in March. They have a loyal customer for life!!

They are great for an oil change, as long as you aren't in a hurry to get your car back. I received a coupon for a $39 oil change so of course I used it. Dropped my car off in the morning and told it'd be 2 hrs. Six hrs later it was done, I thought, but when I got there, it still wasn't available. Waited another hr. It's nice they clean the car, but don't tell someone it'll take 2 when it won't, or that it's ready to p/u when it's not. They also inspected my car and said the oil valve gasket needed replaced & the spark plugs too. Quoted me $800! I took it to a different mechanic who found nothing wrong with the gasket & changed my spark plugs for $80...so they get you in with the affordable oil change but then tack on...other work..beware if it's even needed and if they're over charging.

I was referred by a colleague as this was my first visit. I needed to have a power window repaired, oil change and rotation. . After inspecting the window, which was only 2-3 inches down upon arrival, I turned down the quote of $235 ish for labor alone, as it was not affordable for me after already paying $200 for an oil change and diagnostic. They also suggested new tires and would not rotate my current tires as THEY deemed them too warn. (These tires were recently replaced under warranty). Unfortunately I left this establishment with my window completely down and not able to go up. They would not return it to the position it was in unless I paid for the labor. and $200 poorer with no rotated tires. I have still not received an itemized receipt which I called and requested for.

Last week I worked with Teresa and her team to fix a Break Master Cylinder issue on my F-150. She was very knowledgeable about the situation and ensured my car would be fixed correctly. Also, since I had previously purchased my brake pads and rotors from AutoZone, which included a warranty on those parts, she was able to directly swap for new parts with AutoZone and saved me a lot of money on repairs. Overall, her team was very professional and did an excellent job with my car. I would recommend asking to speak with her whenever you stop by the shop for service. If you are looking for a local mechanic shop for repairs in the Tampa area, then check out this place and make sure you ask to speak with Teresa when you arrive! I’ll bring my truck back here again for future services.

Paid to have my spark plugs looked at. They obviously never did because no mechanic would let my truck leave with what I found later. Drove by with my spouses vehicle 4 hours later on the way to Publix and saw my vehicle in the lot so I waited an hour and gave them a call. They told me the spark plugs were fine but theyd call me back in an hour. 2 hours later no call. So I drive up to take my vehicle back. They told me plugs were fine but the suspension wasn't that great. I tell them I've waited 6 hours for a what was essentially a diagnostic test. Next month I decided to take a look myself. My plugs were gunked up an rusted. How could these be acceptable? There's no way they even looked, or they didn't look at all of them. Shady shady practices. Don't give them your money.

A friend recommended AutoWorks about 10 years ago because of their professionalism and respectful communication. I took 2 cars to them back then and was always happy with the results. I moved away for a few years and just took my new car to them (Oct 2023) -- it was my first visit since 2018 or so. And wow, they impressed me even more. It's great to see how their business has grown and all of the quality people they've added to their shop. Everyone was very professional and kind, and the phone communication I received before, during, and after my repair only solidified the positive opinion I already had. The price is always right, and they never try to sell me on work that I don't need. I will always go to AutoWorks -- it feels like I'm dropping off my car with family.

Reviews lead me to this auto repair shop for my Mercedes oil change. Left very happy with the idea that I have found the perfect place for my car and shortly after I picked up my car engine light came up. Brought my car next day and they added some more oil and when I left my car engine light came up again! At this point I knew something happened at the oil change again and it was very frustrating not to get answers that will help me to get this problem solved. Christian (service advisor) was very nice even though was unable to help me but as a previous auto repair shop owner, his customer service was excellent. Sadly won't return again because of oil change was so complicated, I can't imagine a major repair. Took my car to dealership.

I would imagine like most people, I've been to quite a few mechanics, they're like a box of chocolates you just never know what you're gonna get. With AutoWorks, you'll know exactly what you're getting, great service, experience, and an outstanding staff. Debra the manager was incredibly sweet and helpful. I'd say I had the best experience with/at a mechanic I've ever had. I went in for an oil change, and I thought I needed an alignment too, they told me my alignment was fine, instead of charging me and doing it anyways. Bonus points for an incredibly clean waiting lounge (good music too) and bathroom. I used to go to the Lexus dealership, I will be taking my car and my girlfriend's SUV here from this day forward.

First off I don’t think 5 stars is enough for this company! I have to say by far the best auto service company I have ever brought my Mercedes to . Throughout the whole process Micheal walked me through each and every step! he went above and beyond and was extremely helpful which helped me to relieve a lot of worry, throughout the service he has continuously shown me great hospitality… not only did he make sure my car was taken care of, but he made sure to book me an Uber back home and to the shop if needed. I'm beyond satisfied! This shop was amazing! Everyone I came in contact with even down to the person who answers the phone was very knowledgeable and nice. Having work done on my older Bmw has been a headache to say the least from previous places and this place not only had the best prices but also were the most knowledgeable and informative on my cars situation. The master mechanic (which are hard to find) spent time breaking down every detail of what my car needed done from most important to least with detailed quotes so I could make my own unpressured decisions. I Will definitely go here for all my bmw needs!

I brought in my 2015 VW Tiguan that had been having a recurring oil leak for the last couple of years despite multiple trips to VW. I found that the service at Autoworks was not only quicker but more attentive than the dealerships I’ve dealt with. The car was returned to me in less than a week and Debra provided me with excellent service and constant updates. She made sure I was never blindsided by any costs and communicated very clearly. Overall, the experience was 10/10 and I would recommend Autoworks to anyone who’s sick of dealing with European auto dealerships.

1st time customer and best experience ever! Zack took his time doing the once over on the used 2007 Porsche I bought. He showed me around the car and gave me some great tips! I got lucky...no repair issues! It's nice not to be taken advantage of. Mike my service manager was just as kind and attentive. We brought a 2017 Mini Cooper to Auto Works for an oil change in August 2023. Bob and his team completed this and also found two additional items. One was a brake fluid change (we expected this) and the second, a slow oil weep from the pan. This was photographed and explained as something to consider down the road. Replacing the pan gasket along with a full explanation of repair and cost was provided. I could not be more pleased with Michael as the customer service rep — thanks! I highly recommend Auto Works!

AutoWorks of Tampa has been great for my VW diesel with over 460K miles on it. They keep me running; we just replaced the transmission and clutch (from the original when brand new in 2005) and I s/b good for another 460K miles. Can't recommend them highly enough. I called yesterday to get a quote on brakes for my Range Rover Sport. They said they don’t do quotes over the phone so that I need to come by. I rearranged my schedule today to come by and then Michael says they won’t give me price until I pay $60 for a brake inspection. I said I just want to know the price of the actual brakes and he still said he wouldn’t give me a price until I paid $60. It’s shocking to me that places like this can stay in business. Do better.

Haven't found a trustworthy shop in Tampa yet. Sometimes these mechanic shops they take advantage of you. But so far they seem to be honest up front. Originally I went to a local Audi dealer for service. Later I took my Audi to AutoWorks for an oil change and inspection. It was the same quality of service for less, so I returned recently for another oil change. I'm planning to have future checkups there.
