Just going to put the facts with receipts. Readers can make their own conclusion. The first week of May I saw the engine light on, few days after my car started shaking when I turned it on. I called around and booked an inspection for 19th May at Autovation based on the ratings. Dropped the car in the morning, in the afternoon they called and told me there is a misfire for cylinder 2, the ignition coil and spark plugs need to be replaced. Also, I should get the oil changed and the battery replaced. The total for all of those would be around $650. I asked them to ignore the battery and oil change for now. A little later got a call and was told that the initial examination was wrong and they need further investigation, might need to replace the electrical box. So they kept the car for another day and in the end added extra labor for inspection and brought the total cost to 620 without battery and oil change or replacing the electrical box. (Receipt attached in the first pic). Only after driving for around 70kms in a week, engine light was on again. Called them back and they gave me a slot after 10 days to bring the car back. This time they said it is because of the O2 sensor. Well not know much about cars I paid the money. (Bill attached in pic 2) Fast forward 4 days, engine light is on again. This time I was pissed so rather than getting an appointment I directly drove back on Monday, June 21st. They looked and said last time they replaced the O2 sensor with a wrong model and will put a right one this time at no cost to me (thank God), hence no bill for this time. Just 2 days after the Engine light was on again boom. This time I had enough and went to Excel Auto (Shop next door to Autovation). Scott looked at the car and gave me a detailed reason for what is going on etc. Fixed the car (bill, with inspection code, attached in pic 3). Has been 3 weeks now, the car is running fine and I am thinking that Scott fixed it for good this time. I went back to them 3 times thinking maybe it was an honest mistake or something might get missed but now when I look at the whole story together it doesn't feel honest to me and I feel I wasted money (may be not all of $850), time, and energy dealing with Automation.

I have to say I'm very disappointed in their service. I brought my bmw 645ci in because it was leaking coolant (green puddle in the garage) and I couldn't find where it was coming from. After running a pressure test, they couldn't find the leak either. He said he would keep looking. About 3 hours later I called back to find out that my car is leaking power steering fluid from 2 high pressure lines (according to the mechanic this fluid is also green). He quoted me $1500 to replace 4 lines total (2 of which were back ordered until late December and the other 2 would take a week to come in). So I took the car home. I decided to keep looking for the leak myself. Upon further inspection it was clear that the mechanic didn't even bother to look into the expansion tanks. My power steering fluid in the car is pink and the tank was full. The coolant tank was under the minimum line (so it was definitely coolant that was leaking). I did some research online and I found that there is a common coolant leak with this engine due to a seal. Looking into the engine bay again, I found this was exactly where the coolant was coming from. So long story short, this guy wanted to charge me $1500 to replace 4 good hoses that had nothing to do with my coolant leak. Autovation was supposed to be a german-specific mechanic yet they can't diagnose a common problem that plagues thousands of n62 engines. On top of this, he wanted to charge in upwards of $200 for a simple alignment. I can honestly say I'll never take my car back there again. Edit: I just happened to come across the owner's reply today. It shows he replied 2.5 years after my original review and maintains that there were more important issues than my coolant leak. Meanwhile I'm still driving 3 years later with the exact same power steering lines he told me MUST be replaced. Pressured upselling at its finest!

They charge you the full price but the parts they put on are actually much lower quality and their workmanship is much less trustable. I would rather go with the dealership as the dealership would guarantee OEM parts that last and their workmanship is guaranteed. While these guys charge you the dealership price, they are a knock-off at best with the parts and service they provide. If you want to save money buy your own parts and get someone cheaper to install it for you. If you have the money, pay a couple percent more and stick to the dealership. Ok so now that I have gone full cycle on the workmanship I've received I'm in a good position to review these guys. The brake job that I got done from them was done very poorly as the nut that holds the rotor was installed incorrectly resulting in seizing and had to be grinded off. I got the BMW dealership install my rear brakes and rotors and about a 1.5 years later I had Autovation install the front brakes and rotors. My car started vibrating when I braked about a year ago. Turned out the front rotors were poor quality and had warped. I had to get the front rotors and brake pads replaced before I needed much less before I had to get the rears replaced (which were installed (by Otto's bmw)1.5 years prior to the front job by Autovation). I also paid them for premium parts with ceramic pads and ventilated rotors. This is not the only problem. I had them install the front struts and shocks...again paying premium prices for both (billstein struts)...turned out my front shocks were out of spec and now my front looks awful because the body now sits much higher.

Stay far far away from this mechanic shop/CROOKS!!!! Like many other reviews on here, almost fell for there mis-diagnostic scam!! Dropped off my car for a dead battery, asked the owner "Derek" to diagnose the vehicle and change the battery! One week later, he calls me back and advise the water pump is draining my battery and will need to be replaced along with an aftermarket battery and the bill would be over $1800.00!!!!!....I told him put back my old battery and I will tow it to BMW dealer....went the next day to pick up my vehicle, they replaced my battery with some old tiny aftermarket battery. Explained to the owner this is NOT my battery. I had an original OEM BMW battery. Claims he had no idea, and this is how the vehicle came in the shop. After back and forth he advised me to pay $500 for there "diagnostic". In additon, they took out the aftermarket battery and replaced it with a DEAD BATTERY! Took my vehicle to BMW dealership, and after $175 diagnostic they advised me all is good just needs a new battery. AUTOVASION and the owner is the biggest scam, and not trustworthy at all! IMPORTANT NOTE: NOTHING you write back about this review will justify your 4.5hr ($500) disgnostic you charged for a simple battery replacement job!!! Do yourself the favour and time and take your car to a professional mechanic shop!

These guys are amazing and professional!! Great service every single time, excellent communication and very reasonable prices! Very accommodating as well, I called in last minute to have maintenance done before I left town for the weekend. I really wanted my car looked at as I was driving hundreds of kms out of town. They were all booked up, but after explaining I was driving with my two kids (completely true), they found a time where they could squeeze me in. They did the maintenance on my car and I was able to drive away feeling completely confident that my car was safe and wouldn't break down on the road. Autovation is reliable and trustworthy, they are my shop for everything for my car. No more dealership rip offs!!

Finally a breath of fresh air amongst all garages and dealers. Called because I suspected a wheel bearing on an Audi, they asked me to come in and they'd check it before ordering the part and said that my time constraint wasn't a problem. In and out in less than 15 minutes as they said (they did an inspection + test drive), ordered the part and it was replaced two days later for cheaper than they quoted (which was $200 cheaper than dealer and $100 cheaper than nearby garage). Work performed fast, I found them to offer excellent customer service. Nice young team they've got there. Will definitely be back there for repairs and maintenance that I can't do myself now that my warranty is over.

I was bit in a jam when my BMW did not pass the emission test because the engine light was on. The license plate registration renew due in a couple of weeks. My husband recommended Autovation because he took his car there before and they do a lot of European cars. To make the long story short......... Derek, the owner scheduled an appointment the next day, Dylan and his mechanic crew worked closely with me to find a solution best to my advantage. I found the entire crew very knowledgeable about their work, they are honest and have excellent attitude with customers. They deserve a 5 stars rating and I would have no reservation recommend Autovation to anybody.

I highly recommend this shop. Had my exhaust previously done at another shop but was very unsatisfied with the outcome. I thought my vehicle was destroyed and didn't really enjoy driving it because it was very obnoxiously loud and the drone was unbearable. I called Derek at autovation and booked my car in for the repair and he did an absolute amazing job. He did exactly what I was looking for and had the right solution to have my car sounding perfectly outside and having it silent on the inside. Definitely enjoying my car now and love driving it with the family in it. Thank you Autovation for bringing my car back to life.

I've dealt with Derek & team at Autovation off and on throughout the years, and have given them many a call for advice on issues with my BMWs. Even without having the car in the shop, they've been willing to share their wisdom and guide me in the right direction. When the car is in the shop, they have told me when to throw in the towel, or when not to worry about problem X, Y, or Z. Even gave me insight on the new car purchase before I pulled the trigger! Hands down among the most friendly, professional, and wise mechanics you can find in the capital. Worth the trip and the extra $$$ if you care about your car.

One of the last few honest mechanics around, Derek Lamoureux is a BMW owner and race driver, race instructor and has decades of experience with all makes and models. They service commercial vehicles and personal both, they're a great shop for your fleet with maintenance programs and scheduling. Lamoureux also teaches students from local trade programs, and employs responsible environmental management practices. Very happy with the service, will certainly bring all my vehicles here in the future.

I was referred to autovation by my warranty company about a month ago. I had a handful of issues with my vehicle that should have been covered by the warantee but the company was being a real pain in the neck to deal with. Tyler and Derek at Autovation managed to get them to cover everything they were supposed to and even went above and beyond on their end. The shop did an excellent job on all the repairs and did so in a very timely manner. I would definitely recommend bringing your vehicles here. They are an honest, hard working, professional crew!

Excellent shop, always fair. I've been bringing my vehicles here for years, no matter what odd ball or normal car I bring, they always treat me well, and fix what needs fixing, at good prices. As a note: I saw some reviewers upset, talking about how they wanted a part changed, and got angry when the shop actually took the time to diagnose the problem, and tell them what was the cause of the part failing. If you JUST want a part changer, go to Canadian tire I guess. This is an actual mechanic shop that can fix the issue.

Had my 2010 Volvo V50 in for an alignment after replacing pretty much all control arms and suspension components myself. I had first called another place but they said they no longer work on Volvos.. I had added adjustable upper control arms to the car and they were fine with that even though it was not OEM. Very pleasant experience, I dropped the car off and they called me to pick it up a few hours later (I was in no rush). Will definitely go back for other work I need done.

I brought my BMW to Autovation first thing in the morning for a performance tune and they had it ready for me to pick up by the end of the day. The tune added much more to the performance than I was expecting. My car is much more responsive than before and roars to life when I take off from a stop. They also lent me a dope loaner car for the day free of charge. It was a great experience. 10/10 for both the tune and the customer service. Thanks guys!!!

Brought my 1977 Corvette to Autovation for a new exhaust system, based on a recommendation from another mechanic on the quality of their work on custom exhaust systems. Derek installed a true dual exhaust that not only looks and sounds great, but I'm pretty certain has also increased my horsepower. Great job, very pleased with the work and was even more pleased with the price. I will be back. Thanks again to the Autovation team!

Dealer noted some issues with my BMW and quoted $1200 for the repairs. I called Autovation and they quoted $430. Based on my research, the parts used seem to be good quality and the shop is well known to BMW enthusiasts so I decided to go ahead with the work. All communication and work from start to finish was flawless. I do wish the initial contact could be done by email. I will be taking my car here in the future.

Have been taking my car here for routine checks and few performance upgrades for the past few years, Derek and the team have been excellent and offered honest, thorough and professional work on my car. Autovation is an amazing independent that specializes in BMW's, but can pretty much work on any vehicle and make it right. Back when I got into BMW's in early 2008, I was recommended to their shop by a friend and have never turned back. All my cars since then has been touched by Derek Lamoureux (the owner), and his team. Their attention to detail is second to none.

Very impressed with the service here. Called on a Friday, was able to get an appointment on Monday and they ordered the part I needed on Friday so it was ready to go for my appointment on Monday. That's great service. Good communication during the day and the price was less than expected.My BMW has found a new home for service.

Great shop to deal with - Derek is very experienced in all kinds of repairs and has found tricky problems for me when the dealership service center couldn't. Helps with deals on parts - and most important from a mechanical shop - always upfront and honest. They have saved me a ton of money over the years in maintenance.

I had a problem with my 4x4 and some lights on my truck they claimed that they can fix my issue by changing my fuse box panel 1600$ later they replaced the fused box but I still have all the same problem now they tell me that they half to re learn my fuse box but they don't know how so why did they offer to change it ?

I had a twisted seat in my 2003 BMW 540i. The backrest would no longer go up or down. It's a bit of a pain job. I called Autovation on a recommendation and I'm glad I did. My wife's 2012 FIAT 500 made a clunking noise when going over bumps and its rear wiper didn't work. Dealer's repair estimate: $3,300 for PARTS ONLY; likely >$4,000 with labour. Autovation's bill to fix both issues PLUS replace one ignition coil: $720 HST included. 'Nuff said.

They know what they are doing. They are honest. They make their own exhaust systems. Using stainless steel and they do the welding on site. Frisby estimated $1,700. Autovation charged me $200. Whoever you choose, go to Autovation for an estimate at least.

Went here for years but the shop has lost it's charm. Hourly quotas for repairs are excessive, and they don't take a pragmatic approach to keeping your car on the road. Still a highly knowledgeable shop, but the cost is prohibitive for my older bmw
