One of my favorite things to come to the park and watch in the small zoo they have here and the Aviary is one of my favorites. They have a wide selection of birds at times. Turkey Vultures, North Crested Caracaras, Barred Owls, Guinea Fowl, Domestic Chickens, and a nice selection of tropical birds. Some of the birds are here because they have injury's or health problems that will not allow them to survive in the wild so they are taken care of here at the aviary. Overall if you come to bear creek the Zoo is a must on your to do list. (Also its free!) P.S Keep in mind that climate and weather will affect when the animals are here or not, the zoo is a bonus for coming to the park, not the main attraction, keep that in mind.

Small Aviary, Animals appear to be well cared for. Very clean. All of the Animals here are here because they have some form of disability preventing them from being released into the wild. Nice little selection of birds that your kids will love to see and learn about. Indeed as in other reviews some can speak and rather well actually far better than expected. Unfortunately no donation boxes would have liked to support the care of these animals not sure who is running the park but thank you for taking in animals in need and making it a little free attraction for the public, hasn't gone unnoticed. We will definitely be back for a picnic.

The white bird loves music and will dance to it when played. Another does old cell phone ring tones which is a little unnerving. There's a turkey that loves attention that will follow you everywhere. The larger birds (owls/vultures) don't do much and mostly sleep. Considering that you can see these birds for free, along with area ducks, turtles, goats and donkeys, there's no reason not to check out the park.

We visited the aviary on a hot Sunday afternoon, and the place was full of black vultures. Probably close to 200 of them were there. Not many other birds were there, but it was a unique experience to see that many vultures in one place.

Come before dusk. Approach quietly. Listen to the mimics. Cat calls, fire works in flight, & one says "I love you ", quite a show. Birds of Prey next door always seem to be silent. I'd love to see them at feeding time. Usually they just watch me; makes one wonder who's on display?

Very cool place to visit for free. The Cockatoo was the star of the show. Whistling back and forth with my daughter. Then started showing out swinging upside down. I didn't start recording until after that. Then it said "Hello" & "I Love You" wat too cool.

It's a bit heartbreaking to see the sick animals caged up, but they are well cared for and some are absolutely full of personality. One of the birds loves to play peek a boo. It's a great place to take a curious child.

Good place to see a few birds. Some are in cages some not. The ones in the cages not all were out. I could see four different types in the cages and a few more outside. There are also some donkeys in an enclosed area.

  • Robby

Pretty cool, go check it out! Looks like the staff take good care of the birds and the cages. It could be tempting, but just don't feed the birds or try to touch them. There are good reasons for this advisement.

It's great that these rescue birds have a home and staff that takes care of them. The family life enjoys sitting and visiting the birds from time to time. They will talk to you.

Kids want to go to the zoo but you don't want to spend that kind of money? Come here. There's a variety of other animals near by but the birds tend to be my favorite.

  • Georgiy Kubarkov

That's truely a nice place!!! Owls, parrots, etc. Land and aquatic turtles in the ponds. And three different species of parrots that can talk!!! And it's free!

  • Phil Harang

Really not that many birds and even the few large ones are housed in small cages so they can't really fly. Sad to see. I feel sorry for them.
