A three ring circus I have written a few reviews over a period of time and it seems that a positive review is a bit of an extinct event. I organized to hire a small truck (car license) from Avis/Budget on Saturday and confirmed only to receive a call the next day to let me know that a vehicle was not available and could I reschedule for Sunday which was ok for me but I should have taken this as an indication of the circus that I was about to be subjected to. I arrived on Sunday to pick up the truck and firstly let me say it was over an hour before I drove away in the truck and that’s from the scheduled time (I arrived early so around an hour and twenty minutes in total). COVID played a comical part in this with the staff asking us to step outside on several occasions because only three people are allowed in the office at once but to our amusement this was a loose and flexible rule. If you have a sense of humor head down there and watch the slapstick movement of vehicles in the car park, vehicles being moved into a parking spot and blocked in only to be moved thirty seconds later, I wish I could make sense of this slapstick movement of vehicles. The administration was as expected (scripted) but inefficient in its execution. Finally our turn came to pick up the truck. I did the inspection/walkaround which was ok and we got to the tailgate lift and the staff member began to demonstrate the operation however he seemed to be having problems with the operation, up and down it went as he fumbled with the controls. I asked him if it was faulty and he confidently said no (why did I believe that !). I also asked does the tailgate unfold automatically for use or do I need to unfold it manually, his answer was a confident yes it is automatic (It unfolds manually). We had problems with the operation of this ^&&*^%$ thing every time we tried to use it. The safety lock was missing which concerned me. Also note that a small but significant annoyance was that the gate did not have a controller on a lead or remote, we had to squat underneath the back of the truck to operate (what a pain). The Icing on the cake which would normally not be a problem is that the vehicle remote did not work (it was visibly broken) so we had to lock the vehicle manually, I agree it is a small annoyance but hey the circus was pretty comprehensive. Let me finish by saying I have rented for work well over a hundred cars from Avis/Budget always at the Richmond office and not once did I receive anything but five star service, So stay away from Camberwell is my advice.

Followed being asked for address we stay in Melbourne, which we provided as asked. Then was told to provide the proof with the driver’s name on the address! We are from overseas and here for visiting. With staying at our friends’ palace, how could the name of ours on the address!!! We even provided the rental invoice of our friend’s, still didn’t work and insisted on we should have our name on the address. Asked the counter staff ‘So anyone travel here from overseas staying at friends’ or relative’s space, they cannot rent a call with you? ’ Being answered ‘Yes!’ SO ANYONE IF YOU ARE TRAVEL HERE WITH STAYING AT FRIEND OR RELATIVES, DON’T HAVE YOUR NAME ON THE LOCAL ADDRESS, DON’T COME HERE!!! Then another staff came, asked us to provide another certificate with the same address on the driver license (issued overseas), after we’ve already provided the original and translated copy of the driver license. We presented our ID card with the same address with the driver license, rejected as the address on our Chinese ID card is not in English. Again we showed the Passport, still rejected. I asked why the overseas address is needed again? It’s already on the driver’s license. Replied by another counter staff ‘if anything happened, we need to have an address to send the bill’. The documents both these 2 counter sfaff asked are not listed or required during we made the booking online. It’s ridiculous and unprofessional to asked for same address again (which is even a overseas address) with the reason to send the bill if anything happened. After all the racist experience and struggles, WE LEFT THE RENTAL PLACE AND DIDN’T GET OUR BOOKED CAR. Afterwards I tried to call AVIS CUSTOMER SERVICE, sadly no one answered as they are closed during weekend. Still I need to struggle to find a way to contact AVIS to get the payment of my never-seen car back. Hope what happened to me, never happened again to anyone else. While with all the very low rates, I think the bad things caused by them just repeating. THE BEST WAY IS TO STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND STAFFS, AND NEVER COME HERE!!!

Poor Service and Unprofessional Experience at Avis Car & Truck Rental Camberwell, Burke Road, Melbourne. My encounter with the store was frustrating and unprofessional for the following reasons: 1. Unreasonable Refusal of Service: Upon arrival at the pickup location, the store owner abruptly informed us that we were late and consequently refused to provide us with the car we had booked. 2. Indifference to Customer Circumstances: Despite explaining that this would ruin our pre-planned itinerary, including hotel bookings outside the city, the owner remained indifferent and asked us to leave the store without any attempt to accommodate or assist. 3. Suspected Overbooking: It appeared the car intended for us had been given to another customer, as the owner let slip he had no cars left to offer. 4. Refusal to Refund: We were refused any form of refund for our online payment. The store directed us to resolve the issue with Economic Bookings, the European company through which we made the reservation. 5. Incorrect Information on Voucher: The voucher provided by Economic Bookings contained incorrect information regarding the pickup location and store contact number. This error significantly contributed to the confusion and inconvenience we experienced. In summary, the combination of poor service, lack of empathy, and administrative errors led to a wholly unsatisfactory experience. Future customers should be aware of the potential for such issues when dealing with this rental car dealer. It is regrettable that our trip was negatively impacted by this experience, and I strongly advise caution to others considering this rental service.

If I did not check my credit card statement I would not know they were stealing from my account. I contacted them and the insurance company for over 3 weeks and the refund still has not gone through. They were absolutely a scam. If you went there check your credit card statement I am sure it is not the first time they did it. Update on 29/06/2017: They promised me to refund me back the money. However the nightmare has just begun. Instead of refunding, they charged me another 2 TIMES for the money without any notice or reason AGAIN and I do not know what is going on. I am going to make a complaint in ACCC.

I rented a car for a day and only ran 50KM. When I got the car, the fuel tank was not full. The staff said I could fill it up to the same level. After I returned the car after filling up, they deducted my fuel fee. I have since received three different bills. I called to communicate and still haven't got an effective solution. No wonder this store has such a low rating, it's ridiculous. Randomly deducting money, disrespecting consumers, and having a bad attitude. I hope everyone will pay attention to this store in the future, so as not to be cheated.

We needed a car to go to great ocean road and the guy was racist, rude and extremely unpleasant customer service. We arrived at 11:55 and he told us that we're late as they close at 12 pm which didn't make sense at all. We requested him to consider but he had no intent to cooperate and help instead he yelled at us that he wants to close so we should leave. Highly NOT RECOMMENDED.

The company is completely inflexible and there is a lot of miscommunication on the site/voucher, even the phone number & address is wrong. The guy in the shop is so rude and didn’t give us the car saying we were 2 mins late and that we should leave asap. We booked the car for 2 days and there is no refund that we’re getting even if it wasn’t our fault.

Hired a truck with very late notice which they accommodated. Super friendly, efficient staff who are running a great operation. Trucks were clean and well looked after. Will definitely use again. Unfortunately I didn’t get the gentleman’s name on the desk, but he was sensational. Great experience.

Cheater & Fraud. He gave our car to someone else. When we reached there he pushed us out and said there was no car available. His phone number was wrong on booking portal and he knew it that his number is wrong and said he doesn't care. Please avoid booking from the store.
