I have been dealing with this Avis location for a while. Lately, there are never no cars. I have been understanding with that due to COVID. But the customer service has gotten really bad at this place. I always make my reservation in advance sometimes months in advance because I know I got to travel somewhere and need a rental car. But I made a reservation for Friday Dec. 10 for 0800. I get there and cars are there but I was told there were no cars available. No solution or anything was giving. I ask for other available solutions. Then he tells me that he have some returns around 1030-1100 or I can go to the airport and get a car. I walked out. About 20 minutes later I get a called and it was Avis to tell me I have the keys to a car do you want it? First of all, I did make reservations for a car so of course I need it. So I turn around to get the car he have the keys to just to find its the same Toyota Camry that was parked there when I came in the first place. Then I went on Nov. 3 to pick up a car. They try to give me a car with the whole side bump hanging off the car. I immediately says I want another vehicle because this car is not in shape to travel. They give me another vehicle with ⚠️ lights on. So I ask the front desk lady what does this light mean, does it mean it needs air in the tire? She proceeded to get an attitude with me about the vehicle she is renting to me. My safety comes first I will not drive a vehicle that is not safe to drive. The nerve of her. I've made reservations almost every month this year at Avis just to be told they didn't have any vehicles we can push your reservations back and wait till the point I had to go to Enterprise and rent a car. I only continue to go because my company gives discount for employees through Avis, not a hectic as airport,, and closer to where I live. But last Friday was my last straw with this particular location. I advise anyone that needs a car to not use this location until they get more professional employees! The customer time is definitely valuable! I will definitely use another location or company that values and me as well as time!

0 stars-This was hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had anywhere. I get there and the guy tells me to sit down. No big deal. There were other people waiting. About 20 minutes later, I ask about my rental, and he nonchalantly says, we don't have any cars. Immediately he is defensive. He said, Don't get mad at me. I don't do the reservations. I'm an independent contractor. I don't work for Avis. What?! He said, corporate has been overbooking for awhile. He points to customer service's number, and says, "I'm tired of calling them today. You ask them why there aren't any cars" I proceed to call corporate and it is one of those automated "Say [insert reason/option]". The guy came from behind the counter after telling me to call them, and the automated corporate number was like, "I don't understand" because he wouldn't stop interrupting to tell me that it isn't his fault. He finally says he has a car. Another lady was at the desk, and i was like, Do you understand my frustration? She said, i feel the same way he does...Of course you do. After printing the paperwork, the guy starts rushing me into signing it...give me a chance to read it over to ensure the price and options are correct...especially after the whole ordeal. After signing, the lady takes me to the car. I start to walk around the car to check it out...which is pretty standard, right?! The guy comes walking outside and said, "What's wrong?! We don't need to do the walk through since you have insurance. It doesn't matter what you do to it"...To sum things up...The "I don't work for Avis" therefore this isn't my fault attitude is crazy. You are handling the rental process. You represent them...even if you are contracted. Secondly, I get that you aren't the person in charge of online reservations. In any business, things are going to happen. Find a solution! Especially if, like you said, you have more people coming in that aren't going to have cars.

I am livid. We rented a car on February 13th from this location. When we picked the car up we were charged for the rental and a additional hold was placed on our account as expected. The car was due back at 12pm on February 19th. My husband took the car back before 11:20am on the 19th when it was due and the car was checked out by the attendant and CLEARED. The hold on our account was released back into our account on February 18th. I thought everything was fine until February 22nd when were charged again for the same amount of the car rental. We received an email on February 19th at 11:20am of an e-receipt when we returned the car with a link that did NOT work. We called during business hours and after waiting over 20 minutes we spoke with a rep who wanted to rush me off the phone. During this call I asked for another email of the receipt, he told me that he sent it (which I later found out was not true.). He asked us for a copy of our bank statement which we sent. Days later we received an email to reach out to Loss Prevention because they took out the money. We called and have not been able to reach anyone yet. Please avoid this company if possible. We are still trying to reach someone so that we can recoup our money. Update: My husband called their Loss Prevention Line today which we were directed to do from the email they sent us. Waited on hold over 30 minutes only for the guy to give my husband a number to Loss Prevention, he literally told my husband to call the number he was on the phone

Avis is terrible, pick somewhere else. play by play below for what to expect. Reserved a car at a location close to me because I don't have a car. The evening before they call and say they don't have a car there for me and suggest a location 30+ miles away to pick-up. Directed to call corporate and am on hold 30 minutes and counting. UPDATE EDIT- after i passed 45 minute mark I hung up and called back. Representative got on the line after about ten minutes and transferred me to another automated service with 0 related options. Hung up. Called back again spoke to a representative and was transferred to a supervisor. Barely after finishing my few sentences about my situation, the supervisor transferred me back to customer service and on hold again. Call exceeded 30 minutes and hung up and called back. Called back again. Representative said they were no cars available in Charlotte, EVEN at the location 30+ miles away the first person told me about. SO she transferred me to the refund line. This wonderful automated service did not recognize number inputs and had no voice recognition so I could never select any option and therefore could not get through to anyone. Had to hang up and call back. After explaining this again to the next representative, he just cancelled and issued the refund supposedly. Still waiting on confirmation email

I have never in my life made a bad review. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt and understand that life isn’t always perfect. I am new to Charlotte, do not know anyone here, and needed to pick up a vehicle today. My reservation was confirmed online the day before by both Avis and Expedia. I got an Uber to the location. I got there 30 minutes before my reservation, happy to wait, and do everything right with checking in online. There was a paper sign in the door that said “Closed Easter Sunday” (understandable, it’s a holiday) but there was NO mention on Expedia/Avis’ end regarding this. Both representatives I spoke to confirmed that the location had not given notice that they were closed. There were multiple others that were needing to drop off/pick up vehicles as well. I had to cancel my reservation and I am currently trying to find a way home. I know it’s not the representative’s fault, but the second person I had spoken to was very cold and constantly repeated himself. Again, I know he has his job to do, but I also work in customer service. It was very disheartening and now I am currently left stranded on a holiday.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Where do I start. First, I arrived and they couldn't find my reservation. Secondly, they didn't have any more compact cars, which was the car I chose for my reservation. Next, they offered to upgrade my vehicle but at my expense. Why should I have to pay extra because you don't have the car i reserved. Then, they told my they need to hold $200 extra on my credit card or $300 on a debit card in addition to the car rental price and the upgrade that I did not want. ( I've heard of security deposits on debit cards before, but never credi cards) The place did not look well kept at all. Everyone else that came in to rent cars that day while I was there they turned them away because they had no inventory. This place is a joke. Stay away from this place.

During the month of March and early April usually Charlotte city is low on inventory due to a number of events in and around the city. Most customers do not realize that inventory and reservations are not controlled by the location operator. In the past 2 years a number of more reservations websites have come up and the no of reservations are much in excess. When one is sure that there is no inventory and Airport is also in negative we feel it is being proactive to inform the customer a day before as compared to informing the customer when he/she shows up. The corporate has noted the surge in reservations and have taken appropriate actions to ease the situation and we hope to avoid such inventory crunch in future. WE TRY TO DO MORE GO AVIS BUDGET

The worst customer service experience of a rental car company I’ve came across. This branch advertises for one way and round trip rentals and when booking through an Avis representative it still allowed them to view the inventory reported and book a rental reservation. When I showed up to this location the man behind the desk had one man asking a question and told me to wait before he could say anything. This man barely looked at my reservation before he said “no, we’re not doing that” told me to check his white board that he had written “No one Ways”. Made zero effort to help or apologize. Zero customer service, no wonder why there are very few vehicles in the parking lot. Do not recommend going here.

Wow this place is really really horrible. Made a reservation and prepaid for it online “to hold the car.” Called to confirm on my way to pick it up and they told me they were sold out. I told them I prepaid and they responded “sold out, call customer service for a refund.” Not the first time the person said those words. Worse they did not provide me a phone number to call. DO NOT RESERVE IF YOU NEED A CAR. However feel free to pick this location if you enjoy wasting time, money, and treated like steaming hot garbage (like their customer service training). If the CEO does not shut down this location he should be shut down. Shorting this company’s stock (NASDAQ: CAR) on Monday morning.

I can’t repeat the whole story here, but the place is awful. Terrible customer service. Didn’t have my reservation. Tried to tell us we didn’t really need the two passenger vans and would be fine with large SUVs (guy had no clue what we needed). Waited hours to get 1 of the vans we needed, walked next door to Enterprise and they went out of their way to get us another one, no problem. This guy was rude, unapologetic, uninterested in actually helping. Believe the bad reviews. I read them before booking but thought “oh, it’s probably just a few bad experiences, we will be fine.” No. It’s a pattern of terrible behavior. The good reviews here certainly seem to be the exception. Beware.

The experience at this store with front desk agent Patrice was wonderful and very helpful. I had put myself in a jam by not calling and extending my rental agreement. First she contacted me by text message (best way to get in touch with me). Reminding me that I was due back. Second when I when in the office to return the vehicle, Patrice informed me what to do next time so I won’t have these kind of issues in future rental. I had to fix my wrong and pay the difference what I owe. But Patrice customer service support made me do it with a smile and even a few laughs.. You have a great employer in Patrice Avis

This car rental company was a waste of valuable time. I made a reservation a couple of weeks ago. I secured it and paid in full with a credit card info etc. I received email to confirm and I called to confirm that morning. 1/2 hour before pickup I get a call no car available, I had to Uber to another location and after waiting over 2 hours I finally received a car. I know see that they changed my credit card for a higher amount then I originally reserved and secured with my credit card. You can’t speak to anyone on the phone, recording options or long wait on hold. Do not use Avis!!!

Unfortunately due to numerous break ins worldwide; our car was also targeted. We checked around in our area and had no luck until we ran across this rental company. They had just the SUV that we needed to accommodate our family. Mr. Leo and Patrice who both assisted us were extremely helpful during this frustrating process. They were very professional and made sure to make our experience flow as easily as possible. I will definitely be sure to refer anyone who is in need of a rental car to this location and will also be a returning customer if I ever need a rental car again!

Prepaid for a Car online for this location three days before my trip. Called and confirmed reservation for this location two days before my trip. Get a call at 4:00 pm telling me there are no cars available at this location the day before my trip. I’m suppose to pickup my vehicle and leave Town the following morning from this location. I call 800 number to find a car at another location and told NO locations in Charlotte has cars available. Not even at Charlotte Douglas Airport! And they say they are “Sorry for my inconvenience”. Oh, yeah they still debited my Credit Card.

STAY AWAY, worst AVIS location, be prepared for fraudulent charges. I booked travel via my company via concur (travel platform) I was asked to put a card on file even thought the car was paid in full already for a simple 1 day rental. A day later charged on my credit card for the rental car that was already paid for in full by my company. I have contacted AMEX, but please AVIS corporate shut this location down and if you have to rent a car here please monitor your credit card for suspicious activity.

Had one of my best rental experiences with this particular location. We arrived late on the day of pick up (just after closing time), but due to us having a reservation, we were well assisted and provided beyond fair treatment by Leo at the front desk. We received a nice upgrade to a mini SUV. The vehicle was in great condition and it made our trip way more comfortable. The return was seamless and quick with no hassles. I would rent here again!

I wish I could give this Avis more than 5 starts. I’ve been in a rental car for 6+ months thanks to an accident I was in back in March. Leo has been so wonderful to work with. He consistently helps me find the lowest rates, reminds me when it’s time renew to avoid late fees, and is always available to answer any questions I may have. He has made the process as painless as possible - I cannot recommend this location enough.

Prepaid for a car and Ubered to the location for them to act confused about their reservations and tell me they are all sold out of cars. When I asked the woman why they would let me prepay for something they don’t have, she responded, “why wouldn’t they take your money?” This is a horrible place to rent a car and I would literally rather crawl than use this location again.

I like this location of Avis the quality of cars that are available are above reproach. The level of customer service is awesome. It is an antenna location so the prices are 30 to 40% lower than the airport. I continuously have spent quite a bit of money at this location for renting cars for traveling business and will continue to patronize this location. Patronize

Came here after having a bad experience with another car rental companies. Both Leo and Patrie have been exceptional. They was very clear and straightforward on the process. Both will go above and beyond to make sure you’re satisfied. If in the Charlotte area, please do yourself a favor and visit this location. You won’t be disappointed.

Just called and the customer service from however lady’s there is HORRIBLE, if she doesn’t want to work she should stay home. Honestly she didn’t even knew what I wanted and she was already saying “we don’t have any cars at this location” when she didn’t even knew when I was gonna make the reservation like lady please.

Ok, mixed review! 1st, Leo was incredible. We had a vehicle reserved for a 9-day road trip n they didn't have our vehicle. Leo worked really hard to get us through until we could get things worked out. He went above and beyond. Very wonderful customer service. The vehicle situation, well that could use a little work!

They tried hard But it’s been a rough start to a one way rental. Wait time to get on road, fuel 1/3 tank not enough to get me to destination despite prepaid full tank. Corp must have given them a bad car and no time to prep it in advance

Called and canceled my reservation a few hours prior to pickup. Left me in an extreme bind, as I had an emergency funeral to attend for a family member 11 hours away. Will never recommend this location. Don't waste your time!!!!!
