UPDATE: Ashley, As of this morning 07:21 (12/26/20), per your request I sent an email to you as requested. I will update this review once I get a reply from you It happens to be that this Uber/Avis center is located at 245 E Bell Rd and is the one closest to me. I live in Buckeye. Upon arrival, I was met by James. He was pretty straight forward and explained everything fairly clear. I had no issues with him, however it appeared he was over taxed with work considering he was waiting on multiple customers, consistently answering the phone and not able to give quality attention to any one customer in person or by phone. Mind you, he was doing his job. With that said, he ran my card, I rented the Uber (Avis) car sight unseen. He gave me the keys, told me where the car was parked and told me to take pictures before driving away. He wasn’t even able to go over the damage statement with me. At any rate, I thanked him and headed out the door to get my car. As I approached the car, I noticed it was filthy, as if it had been driven across the county multiple times and never washed. But wait…when I opened the driver side door to get in, I was pounded in the nose with a horrible pungent smell. It spelled as if dead meat had been left in the car/trunk for days or even weeks. It was really bad. So, I immediately walked back into the rental center, approached the counter and asked James for another vehicle. I told him that for being a ride-share rental vehicle and representing myself as an Uber driver and Avis in general, the car was in horrible shape. He immediately advised me that he had nothing else to rent and I was stuck with that vehicle. Reluctantly, I said OK, went back to the vehicle, powered the windows down, took my pictures as proof of condition….and began to drive away. As I started the 2018 Nissan Sentra, I noticed that there was a very loud wining noise coming from the engine compartment. I put the car in drive and then the noise died down. Mind you, I had to pay for an Uber ride to get to where I was at to rent this car. Uber was supposed to provide a ride for me as I had just became a brand new driver. If I had a different way home (50 miles away) I would have cancelled the whole damn thing. At any rate, I drove straight to Walmart and proceeded to purchase several car fresheners and also a can of smoke damage scented spray in hopes of removing some of the stench in the car. After doing this, I started up my Uber driver App and within minutes got my very first rider. Picked him up about 15 minutes later. As he entered, he made comment about the smell of the car and told me that he had asthma. He stated he was in a hurry to get to work or he would have got out and waited for a different Uber ride. As I was giving him his ride to his destination, the wining noise from the engine compartment came back and was getting louder. The transmission began to slip. I went to an AutoZone, checked the transmission fluid and it was very low. I put a quart in and off and running again. Still had the wining noise coming from the engine. I decided to call it a day as it was getting close to 6pm. There's not enough review space for me to tell my entire story here. So' I'll end with saying that after being charged 3 different times for the same car and after spending almost 3 hours on the phone between Uber/Avis customer service and Avis Corp customer service, nothing has been resolved. The car ultimately had to be towed and I am now without a car and over $500 for a 1 week Uber rental vehicle that was in a horrible shape right off the lot. If renting from this facility, make damn sure you inspect your vehicle before signing anything !!! Nothing Further ~

I cannot say enough great things about this Avis rental car location, the manager & staff! A+ all the way! By far this location deliver the most excellent service I’ve experienced in more than 20 years of renting cars for both professional & personal needs. You name it I’ve rented from many rental agencies including a certain “we’ll pick you up” brand, nobody tops this Avis location from fleet inventory to top notch customer service experience. The manager James is exceptional, he goes above & beyond to make sure every customer is attended to quickly, with a rarely found anymore human respect, genuinely interested in ensuring his customers rental car needs are understood & accommodated. In these days of call centers phone triage & default to online “support”, it’s rare to find & be able to wholeheartedly count on an honest. service oriented manager who trains his staff accordingly, sets the bar to the highest degree & will be there for you to personally assist with special requests, upgrades, extensions, billing inquiries. You can count on James to answer the phone, respect your time & work to no end to earn your loyal business. I’d never hesitate to refer anyone to this Avis location, I’d go so far as to encourage renters to seek out this location even if not the closest location to them. James is amazing. Whenever I’m in the Phoenix Metro area & in need of a rental car, this is the only place I’ll seek to spend my money. James & his staff have made me a loyal customer indeed earning my business & earning every sentiment in this 5-Star review.

When returning the car I encountered a very difficult employee named Jessica. Jessica gave me a receipt with an extra 145 dollars for gas fee, when I noticed this I called up and tried to explain to her that there was not a full tank when I rented car which I had also stated to her when I was returning car. After she asked did I return with a full tank I told her I did not receive with a full tank, however if and when she check the system and it said it was full she could have said hey our system is show it was full ma'am but instead she didn't say anything just charged an extra 145 dollars. When speaking with her on the phone she told me i was talking uncivilized although not once did I curse or call her out of her name, she asked if I had a walk around slip I told here I did not receive a walk around, when i look in the receipt envelope there was one in there that was signed by employee not me. Because of the combativeness I hung up with Jessica and called this morning to talk to manager, i then spoke with Samantha she stated that she didn't show a 560 charge just the 389 original charge, which leads me to believe that after research Jessica realized I was indeed correct and corrected her mistake, however has she taken the time when it was initially happened so many things could have been avoided. I will not be using again I will be talking to Capital Lumber owner to maybe find someone else to get corporate rate from.

Do not deal with the fat guy with a beard when l rented from him he threw me the keys and said the car is somewhere in the parking lot because his 450 lb lazy no good just wants a paycheck . He gave the wrong keys three times and refused to walk out of empty office and take me to the car my daughter said to me do you really want to rent from someone like that he will not even get up from the chair.

UPDATE: I was contacted and given a coupon by customer service, so I'm giving more stars. They handled it very well. I visited this Avis location between 12 pm and 2 pm on Friday, April 2nd to return a rental car three days early due to a family emergency. When I arrived, the man sitting behind the desk was extremely dismissive and rude. He insisted that I had to pay for the entirety of the original rental despite me returning it three days early. When I asked if there was a number I could call to explain I was shortening the rental he initially said “no” and when I pressed further he said, “well you can, I guess”. Needless to say, I called the corporate number and talked to a very helpful woman who shortened my rental without question. I returned it to a different and paid 96.00 instead of the original 230.00 the jerk working at this location demanded I pay.

Customer service agent when I picked up the rental provided service above and beyond. I am a member of their Avis Preferred service. I rent a vehicle from them about every month or so for business trips. I usually see the same customer service agent who is very helpful & friendly. On my last rental, I was provided a free upgrade to an SUV as they didn't have my preferred vehicle at that location. Great company, rental pickups & returns are always quick and painless, no matter which location you use. I highly recommend signing up for the Avis Preferred service, it is free and you get to use a priority line for pickups, don't have to sign papers for every rental (they keep your signature on file) and get lots of small extra perks. I've never had a bad experience renting from Avis, I can't say that about any other car rental company I used besides them.

Normally it should be smooth process. I took the car and I requested for two additional drivers, the ladies over the counter was added two and then they told me that $13 per day per driver, I told them then I do need one and they do not want to do it again and ask me to call center anytime and Call center people will remove it. I called Call center and they said they cannt and when I drop the car after two days, I told to those office ladies to remove additional driver charges, she told me that once she will close the contract then I need to call back to customer care and ask them. I again called Customer care, after talking with three different people, It got sorted out but before that it was denied and I was showing my disappointment and then finally the customer care reimburse amount.

Great staff to help you get in and out. HOWEVER, when it comes to roadside assistance, they don’t give you ALL the information. I’m Renting a vehicle to work with Uber. I was told if there’s a problem, cal roadside assistance. I was NOT informed that if I call roadside assistance and they come out, being charged almost the rental payment will be the fee. ESPECIALLY if it’s not your fault for the service. AND if I might add, you’re paying for the insurance as well. Please provide ALL the information to customers without having a nonchalant attitude of (it’s not my problem), to reduce the risk of customers having a charge and/or a disgruntled customer. We may be in a pandemic, but being customer service oriented is still appreciated.

Paige is awesome! I had rented a Rav4 at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. It was a horrible car: 42,000+ miles, very few safety features and it rattled and shook when driven. I did not feel safe driving this car and decided to visit this Avis location near where I was staying. So glad I did! Paige offered a friendly greeting and sympathetically listened to my tale of woe. She offered to find me a replacement the next day and she delivered. She reserved a Kia Sportage for me when it was returned! I picked it up the next day and James, the Manager, switched the cars. He was very helpful and personable. I wish that I had not rented a car at the airport. In the future, I will get a ride to this Avis location and rent a car from Paige!

It's been a long day trying to rent from what I believed to be a convenient location... I spent almost 3 hours with CSRs, just trying to get my address straight between the two to three apps and programs that do NOT handshake with one another... Finally getting over that obstacle, I find my card I placed on file doesn't work to set my booking. I go place the money on my Uber card, then go back to be informed I need the credit score I could use to buy a high end Lexus, or Jaguar with... JUST TO RENT FOR RIDESHARE!!! A trying experience, and even though I sympathize with Sam, the CSR that was inundated with rideshare and delivery drivers, the information and hoops I was made to jump through left a VERY bad taste in my mouth.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! I wish I could give it 0 stars. Rented a car and got charged $233.00 for returning it less than an hour late. Also, got charged $224.99 for not fully refilling the tank. I didn't know it cost $224.99 to fill up 3/4th of a Ford Fusion Hybrid tank. They told me it would be $69/Day for one day. On my credit card, I have two charges totaling over $528.00!!!!!! How does a rental place go from $69 to $528!!!!! Also, I called them to get a refund or credit, and i was put on hold for 30 minutes on two different occasions all just to be told they don't have a manager working that day. Reported them to BBB, as someone else already has on here. Getting my money back via my credit card. Absolutely ridiculous.

A complete waste of time. I had a reservation at the uber pickup location in Scottsdale near 87th st and shea. A hour before my scheduled pick up time I get a call from Tim informing me that I would have to go on a waiting list because he didn't have cars available. Tim was very rude so I called avis to have my pickup location changed. It was changed to the 2nd st and bell Rd location. James was very professional and pleasant but I ended up not rent here. A few things that you should know is that if you have a debit card avis will perform a credit check. DO UNLOCK YOUR CREDIT BEFORE YOU GO! I ran into every problem possible just trying to perform the simple task of unlocking my credit profile.

I really enjoyed my rental experience from this Avis location. I needed to modify my reservation to pick up the car a day early, and they were able to accommodate me, despite it being a holiday weekend. Pick up and drop off were super easy and the lady that assisted me was very nice. When I arrived to pick up the car it wasn't quite ready yet. I didn't mind waiting, but she apologized multiple times for making me wait. There's a drop box for keys to return if you are dropping off after hours. I'll definitely be using Avis again.

No apathy or customer service. They demand that you return your car 3 hours before your rental period ends so you don't get charged with another week. I called corporate and they clearly told me I had till noon, I tell the guy at the counter and he gets defensive cause I called the 800 number. I wasn't going to let them bully me around to use up the time I had in my agreement. Overall, there are many rental companies that want your business, not this place. You think they was giving away free rentals the way they speak with you.

First car I rented was too small but that was my mistake for renting the wrong size. But I’m extremely unhappy that the windows are not tinted on “any” of their cars as I was informed. This is Az it’s too hot not to have tint. So the next car I rented was bigger but it smelled so bad of GASOLINE that I got a headache driving it, so now I’m waiting for the store to open so that I can return it before going to work and I want to see how they’re going to make this right. If they don’t I’m going back to Hertz.

This is directed to the Avis Car Renal on 245 Bell Rd. The female clerk was unprofessional but nice, she shared all her frustrations to myself and another customer. The vehicle that was given was clean and ran great. The biggest problem is Avis puts unauthorized holds on your banking account without any customer acknowledgement, explanation in writing or verbal. It has has been six (6) business days and I have not received my $500 back yet.

I recently came to visit phoenix for vacation and I had the most amazing experience at this rental car location. The car was fantastic and clean and really reliable. The customer service was above and beyond. They are also open until 3 while almost every other rental car center in the city is open until noon. I had the pleasure of interacting with James who was friendly and informative. I couldn't have imagined a better experience

They don't like to explain details like other places I have rented cars from. Nice, but unprofessional. Also, I called twice in one day left my name and number both times for them to call me back as they requested and they never called. Called the corporate line, but the local store needed to be the one to address my questions. It was a frustrating day dealing with this location. Nice people, but difficult time calling.

Seriously worst experience of my life I've rented from Hertz, Enterprise, and Thrifty but by far this Avis location has given me the worst experience. And after spending thousands of dollars on multiple cars in the last month alone? I'd rather spend a couple hundred extra at Enterprise than deal with the manager here again which is exactly what I went and did. Sad apparently being a frequent customer means nothing here.

A big scam. I reserved a car on Priceline for Budget. Budget are in the same office with Avis. I managed to book the car for around 16$/day. Basically was a midsize car. When I arrived there, they asked me to pay extra 50$/day for full insurance(they told me that the same is with Avis). Will never go again to reserve something from Budget/Avis. By the way, I was going to enterprise and they were very serious.

The Avis facility was excellent to do business with and did everything possible to put me in the vehicle I had requested. They were very friendly, helpful, and genuine in their communications. Made me feel like I was doing business with a friend when actually I had never met this representative before. When I am in need of a rental vehicle again you can bet I will rent from this Avis facility.

James is great!!! He will get some wheels quickly and efficiently. This car rental is by far the quickest. I have never been in and out so quickly it may have taken 10 -15 minutes maybe. It got the car rental and paperwork done so quickly made my head spin. All with a smile being professional and cracking jokes. If you need a rental car you will NOT be disappointed. Horrible. The car they gave us was dirty and had tobacco in the console and glove compartment even though they have a no smoking sticker on the window. And this "professional cleaning fee" they will try to charge you is bogus. They "clean" the cars themselves behind the building. The man behind the counter decided that his cell phone was more important than his customer service skills.

I had a great experience renting with Avis. We got a Dodge Grand Caravan to take a group of girls to San Diego for one last hurrah before summer ends. The ease of making the reservation online to stepping up to the counter to get the keys then returning it through the key drop all made the experience very satisfactory. I'll definitely choose Avis next time I need to rent a car.

I had a great experience here!!for being 350k miles the vehicle drove well with no issues. Debit card accepted It was a 30 min drive for me to pick up but we’ll worth it. I do recommend to check your inspections before taking off and take pictures and vids before and after . Other than that great service!!! I’ll be coming back for more

This was the first time I rented a car at a facility which was not connected to an airport. The staff were friendly, helpful and did not waste my time trying to upsell me. The car was just what I would've asked for (a Subaru Outback) and I had no issues with it. Returning the car was a breeze. Best car rental experience ever.

The gentleman at Avis 245 E Bell rd, Phoenix, AZ 85022 stated the car needed to be detailed and a small dent needed repair. The car was clean, but he stated it had to be returned in the same condition and the dent was there before. Legal representation said small claims court would not be worth it, but to report to BBB.

Red Carpet experience-when you’re in the Phoenix area needing a vehicle- remember three things; James, Avis, Bell Road. I planned ahead just enough and James took care of the rest. I rented the car without taking a walk through and trusting the staff and the organization to find out later from my daughter and fiance that the car had damaged done to it. The only place that the car had been up to that point was from the Avisit Store to the Resort and Park. This was a 30 min. Drive.

The best place to rent a car in the valley! Always has a variety of vehicles, always offering the best prices around (I have been told that non-airport car rentals in metro PHX are not taxed as highly as airport rentals) Super friendly and accomodating.

Car was ok. Cleaning could have been better. Windows so streaked that the sun one the horizon caused so much glare. There had been stickers on the trunk and doors and the residue was not cleaned off leaving the residue dirty on a white car.

Avis is by far the easiest and friendliest way to go when renting a car. I never go anywhere else. However if you are traveling with a toddler in a front facing car seat make sure they do not upgrade you to a sports car.

In and out in a few minutes on pick and return the few days prior to Thanksgiving. Much better experience than any airport Avis that I've been to. I got a super great rate here compared to the Enterprise on Dunlap.
