⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Batard Bakery in Vancouver is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I tried their almond croissant, Black Forest cake, and pea soup, and each item was an absolute delight. The almond croissant was flaky, buttery, and filled with a delicious almond paste that left me craving for more. The Black Forest cake was a heavenly treat with its rich chocolate layers and luscious cherry filling - a true indulgence for any chocolate lover. The pea soup was a pleasant surprise - creamy, flavorful, and comforting. It was the perfect choice for a light and satisfying lunch option. The ambiance of the bakery is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot to relax and savor their delectable creations. The friendly staff made the visit even more enjoyable, providing excellent service. Batard Bakery has undoubtedly earned a spot on my list of favorite bakeries in Vancouver. If you're a fan of exquisite pastries and scrumptious desserts, this place is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their delectable offerings!

Such a cute little cafe nestled on Fraser! I love the storefront and the vibe inside. We visited early morning on a weekend, and it wasn't too busy, but their menu doesn't start until 10 am. They have a little shop section inside for interesting ingredients. (Baguette and take-home soup for lunch were super tempting!) They also sell bread by loaf and half-loaf. We had the truffle potato galette, tomato artichoke galette, and pumpkin tart. (Don't quote me on the names. I can't remember exactly.) They were all delicious, but my favorite was the tomato artichoke galette. The pumpkin tart was amazing and not overly sweet. Perfectly balanced and decadent. The white hot chocolate was good, but I think I'm just not a fan of white hot chocolate. I recommend it if you want a really creamy, milky flavor. I'll be back after 10 am to try some stuff on their menu!

Can food be magical? That's the best word I can think of to describe the way the food here transports you to Provence with just a single bite. Just today I tried the cream puff that had inside some passionfruit cream filling and on top a thick lavender icing with tiny dried lavender petals on top. Even something as mundane as a BLT can be elevated through the addition of goat cheese and avocado, not to mention perfectly toasted crusty bread made in the kitchen. And if you think you've had quiche before. Try the one here. The egg is light and slightly creamy!!! If this is the real thing, all other versions I've so far have been shams. They also sell kitchenware items that are simply delightful, bread that is artfully made, and the pastries which are extremely delectable. If you want a fix of France, this is the place. Only down side is wall to wall people. Post-pandemic: Menu is different. Quality not as bewitching as before. Market loaf bread excellent, soft inside with crusty exterior.

First visited Bâtard Bakery in 2015 after it was opened by baker Chris Brown and Bruno and Sally Born. Brown had been a founding partner in the fondly remembered Ecco il Pane, one of Vancouver's first artisan bakeries, and perhaps its finest in the 1990s. Brown moved on but little has changed at Bâtard , which early in 2022 is entering its eighth year. The breads and pastries are still first rate, the menu items and drinks are a level above those served by chain restaurant operations. Numerous specialty foods (preserves, granola, cheeses, etc) as well as dishes and cookware are offered for sale. The decor is consciously eclectic, ranging from an airplane propeller, an old manual typewriter, to a wall of cheap prints of expensive art masterworks. It's not inexpensive, parking nearby is a challenge, seating is limited, but hey, it's very much worth a visit, either for baked goods or to enjoy a meal.

I’m not a fan of filled croissants as they are all too sweet for my liking. However, I do like plain butter croissants and I think Batart Bakery has the best butter croissant in town. I have been craving for Batart’s butter croissant for a while so today, my husband drove all the way from Burnaby to get them for me. At the shop, he ordered two plain butter croissants, one Pain au Chocolat and one double baked almond. When he got home and opened up the box, the two butter croissants that he ordered for me were not in the box. Instead, there were two Pain au chocolat, one double baked almond and one what looks like to be a blueberry croissant. Needless to say, hubby was shocked and we are both very disappointed. This was a very unpleasant and frustrating experience.

Honestly the pastries look better than they taste. I’ve given this place a try at least 3 times and there hasn’t been anything that I really like. You can go down to Main Street and find much better options for pastries. That being said I haven’t had any of the sandwiches. The shop does have some really cool stuff to add to your own pantry.

Everything at this bakery is good! Breakfast dishes, pastries, and bread are all delicious and of good quality. It's a bit of a splurge bit worth it! My favourites are the chocolate oat bar thing and the double hydrated sourdough. The breads can be pretty big, so if you find it difficult to get through a whole loaf then you can ask for a half loaf! That way nothing goes to waste!

Excellent bread, sliced or whole, wrapped in butcher paper to go. Fresh pastries, simple French lunches (excellent tarte a l'ognion) and a simple, fresh take-out deli with dressings, pickles, and charcuterie. A great place to go shopping for all things baking as well. A small patio outside is perfect for those with pooches.

Batard Bakery does not disappoint. The French bakery is lively, has a great ambiance, and provides a nice selection of baked goods, food, and drinks. You'll wait in line as it's always busy - but it's worth it. We had the quiche, sandwich, and soups! Pro tip: get the hot chocolate. It's delicious.

What a cute little shop that sells take home items as well. Their pastries are very delicious!! The croissants are fluffy and the loaf of breads are super good! They also have hot items like soup and sandwiches as well! Definitely will go back!! The only downside is the store closes so early.

This elegant shop and bakery has a wonderful nostalgic feeling to it. Great customer service. They have a fresh selection of croissants, bread, coffee, and pastries. At this time it is take out only. Free street parking out front on Fraser. #letsguide #covid

Love the vibe! The quiche is well seasoned and baked. I wish the portion could be bigger. The croissant is not bad.

This bakery has a variety of baked stuff and pastries... they are beautiful in terms of look and taste. The bakery is beautiful from outside and beautiful from inside. Nicely decorated and has lots of food products that are sourced and made

The rotisserie chicken was moist, the sandwich itself though I found needed the soup for sure for dipping as definitely took effort to bite through, not sure if you can ask for a different bread but will try that next time. There were no

Amazing sourdough bread and the place is so visually satisfying. The oat milk latte tasted like pure milk though and the barista looked to be in an extreme bad mood argh. The cashier was delightful though, gotta come back to try the food!

Thank goodness for Bâtard, the East Van tried & true French bakery & cafe that continues to provide outstanding food. I had the best lunch here today: chicken salad on a baguette with a side of chips, 1/2 a fire-roasted tomato & a very

Heard about this bakery from a popular TV show, and decided to give it a try. It’s famous citrus tart is truly phenomenal! I haven’t tasted another tart that as flakey as this one and the taste is a perfect balance of sweetness and

Excellent double baked chocolate croissant. Well setup inside, great decor. I had one of their chicken sandwich which was also tasty. Great neighbourhood bakery. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the baked goods!

Excellent bakery with lots of options. I ordered an almond croissant and a seedy loaf that I later used to make a sandwich at home - both were perfect. Very cozy atmosphere inside as well and very kind, smiley staff.

Best butter crossiants in Vancouver. Crunchy on the outside and good buttery flavour. Also, great coffee drinks and a good selection of fresh pastries and bread. Soup du jour and sandwiches are available too.

  • Gregory Kehm

Ohh la la! Flavour fantastica and in every direction you look. This is a fabulous place to enjoy superb culinary talent whether from the wide assortment of baked goodies or the savoury sandwiches and soups.

  • Moque Aquino

Excellent pain au chocolat and kouign Amman. Pain au chocolat had 3 batons than normal 2 and the lamination is just amazing, best in the city! Also looked so appetizing that I forgot to take photo :) More

Delicious croissants. Good coffee. Amazing breads. Pleasant service. The place is not currently open for sitting, just for take out. The chocolate cookies were with too much salt in my opinion.

  • Vicky Chung

Market loaf is great for any sandwich creation; pistachio strawberry tart is bursting with strawberry and pistachio flavors, little puff-like thingy adds so much texture! It's heavenly …

Simply so good. An easy 5 stars. I was so curious about why this place has less than a 5 star rating and see from the poor reviews that some people are made for Starbucks. The staff aren't

I always enjoy the baked goods here. Today we tried a couple of the lunch items, too. The quiche and sandwich were pretty good; the amount of salad was a bit lacking for the price, though.

  • Rachel Alison

Loved the atmosphere and pretty setting. We loved the honeycomb and the pain au chocolat. Coffee was really fragrant and good and staff were friendly. Definitely will come back again.

My wonderful local French bakery Batard has knocked it out of the park once more with a ratatouille, made with herbed bread crumbs and served with a slice of market loaf. Heaven!

  • Sharmay H

Fresh tasty baked goods and other menu items. Good coffee, Nice and very French décor. Tables are limited. Would be better to have more smaller tables to cater customers' needs.

  • David Hong

One of the nicest cafe in the fraserhood. French inspired. Good place to hang out on a lazy mid day weekend. It does get busy sometimes. Great for desert or lunch meals.

  • Vicky Peng

Authentic French pastries were so delicious. Beautifully decorated cafe with comfortable seating. Quaint marketplace that sells local foods and goods.

  • Saide Nur ALP (saide’s)

Pecan Streusel Tart was too small and too sweet. Double Baked Almond Croissant didn’t have layers as it supposed to, and it wasn’t crunchy at all.

  • Sab L.

Elegant and cute bakery! Great place to get some delicious French pastries. Highly recommend the Batard Mocha ($5.6) (with dark chocolate).

  • Eduardo Maldonado Díaz

My favorite shop to go have breakfast, a coffee and to enjoy a croissant or dessert. Outstanding quality of most of their products.

  • Edward

Batard levain, apple scone, lemon meringue tart, carrot soup all great. A bit cramped.
