I was at my wit's end trying to find an establishment that could replace my engine after it decided to throw a rod on Christmas. They promptly sent a tow truck to retrieve it from Pep Boys where roadside assistance had left it. They professionally answered all of my questions about my options. Sadly, my Scion tC has a history of throwing rods which made the engine I needed scarce. B and D located a used 2009 engine with 60,000 miles on it. Obviously, I had to put down a deposit, and then they removed and replaced the engine. A week later, I received a phone call stating it was ready. They were gracious and patient with me while it took another week to obtain the remainder of the funding. It cost a little bit more since they had to move the oxygen sensor and to re thread part of the connections. It obviously runs a lot better, with a huge increase in the gas mileage. I would definitely use them again.

I walked in last week and talked to Dave about my 2005 Honda Accord brakes. I have worked on cars all my life … 63yr old. He knew exactly what I was describing so I made an appointment to come in today and let him check it out. I walked home and shortly after I arrived, Dave called me and told me what the car needed which is what I thought it would need also. The car needed all four brakes serviced, wheel cylinders replaced. Rotors and drums machined and new shoes/pads and hardware and bleeding/fluid flush. The rotors are beautiful now and I noticed some grease where it should be on the pins. He had the car ready to go in just a few hours after I dropped it off. On the drive home, the car stoped like it did when new! This shop does excellent work at very reasonable rates for labor and parts. Do yourself a favor and patronize B&D when you need competent service. You will be happy you did!

Came to B & D strictly on reviews. Local automobile shop Did not disappoint! David was awesome and letting you know what you thought was going on with my 2000 Ford explorer XLT. I recently thought it was the drive shaft and you won't that was making the vibration and noise underneath my vehicle. Come to find out it was my right passenger front hub that was one out causing the commotion. He literally replaced my bottom ball joints and my bad hub and a few hours I had my truck ready to go by 5:00. Although I was in nocatee on a job I was able to pick my vehicle up first thing in the morning at a very very very recent price lower than expected. What a blessing to say the least what a blessing B&D was . they have a customer for a long time!! Can't say thank you enough David and your awesome mechanics!!!

My Honda Accord 2013 ac wasn’t working during daytime when it really hot. I got there at 8am and he took a look at the car quick. Everything was working as expected with ac and he told me to leave it for a bit to test the car when temperature was higher. He called me right after 12pm telling me they found the problem and car was going to be ready later that day. I picked up the car little before 5. Next day ac was blowing cold air at almost 100 degrees with no problem. The cost for the repair was really reasonable. My friend recommended this place and I’ll come back whenever needed. Thanks David and team for your honest business. Ps call in advance because it’s a really busy shop.

They Charged me one small price for them to Inspect my car I had to tell me IF I was going to need to replace my car engine with either a Rebuilt Engine are a New Engine and I told them I don't have that type of funds just laying around so I asked IF they knew someone who might would buy it and they did BUT after 2wks NO word from Him I sold it and after the buyer left I asked how much I owed for storage and all and I was told that the Inspection was FREE and ALL I would have to do is pay for the Tow truck that took my car and I there and I told them that I paid the Tow Truck Driver and I show my receipt and I was told Then I Didn't Owe them anything

I know your looking at the reviews and see the likes. But this should only be a last stop. The people that are rating high is on the false basis of the price. I was given a price for a complete rear brake job and front pads. A little cheaper than other shops “Sounded great” but after leaving the car they only did the rear at the same price other shops wanted for all of the work. On top of that they used cheap parts and the brakes made noise and were feeling loose. Called and he acted as if he couldn’t fit me in to check them out. Shortly after i started having issues with my catalytic converter..no blame just weird. Be careful very careful

They stripped the oil plug and tightened the filter so tight another co. Couldn't get it off. They charged me 75.00 for a lenses cleaning and messed up the seal around the headlight. The son Bobby broke my sun glases and never said anything. They were 25.00 I had just bought them. My money doesn't matter. The son always has a bad attitude with all clients. I was standing there watching and listening to him. Most of their clients are older people. They keep them in business. This is a Bad business.

I've been coming to B&D for years, before that my parents went to B&D, and my grandparents before them. I confidently buy used cars without worrying about what repairs they need because I know David and his son will charge a fair price to sort the car out and send me happily on my way. Without a good shop like this around you always have to worry about whether you're going to get a straight answer a fair price. Integrity is rare these days - B&D has it in abundance.

We made an appointment for them to do a diagnostics this afternoon, knowing the at any serious work we would be bringing it back on Monday and dropping it off for the day. When we got there, he said “oh, we don’t take appointments. That issue sounds like a bigger thing than just the headlight. I only have two mechanics. Drop it off, it’ll take about a week.” This was not at all what we discussed on the phone, and now we missed half of today’s pay just to tell us no.

My family and I have been going to B&D for over 9 years now, and they've treated us with nothing by respect and have always been helpful. They've been able to help diagnose car issues that have stumped the "Big Boys" all with the aid of actual know how. We now take 4 cars to them, and their prices are much better than you'd find at some of the other places in town. I know for as long as my family remains in Jacksonville, we'll continue to go to B&D.

Went for a wheel bearing replacement & full synthetic oil change because a family member recommended them. He was able to fit me in within a day despite being very busy. My car drives like it is brand new. The best part is that it cost me $400 less than a big corporate mechanic shop that shall remain unnamed. Very pleased & they have a new lifelong customer.

Just called to check prices to have my break pads put on. The guy that answered was pretty rude. I told him I just needed the pads put on. He responds by saying he's not interested in doing them that way and hangs up. Ok, what if I would have agreed to the full service based on your prices?? Good job bud...way to deter customers and add another bad review.

My friend’s radiator hoses broke off, and we shopped around a good little bit, and found B&D Automotive. Not only were they the most reasonable, but also the most informative, reliable and speedy!! went here after places like Pep Boys were ready to charge me more than my car was even worth to fix issues with my break lines and AC - come to find out at B&D that my AC only needed a new cap (only charged me $2), and was charged a fraction of the price to fix the break lines... great work, great prices

Dave and his crew are very competent. They were hundreds of dollars less than other estimates I received to replace my ac compressor. They did a great job. They have helped me to correct problems caused by repairs from another shop and at a very reasonable rate. I won't take my car anywhere else.

the last honest mechanic. I have never left there feeling "screwed". Not all my charges were cheap , but i knew it was honest and fair.Even when i moved to the beaches , I still drove to BD to get work done. My only worry is .. I am afraid he is going to retire before I do.

I think most people feel like it’s hard to find a mechanic they can trust, and I totally trust B&D. I’ve had several issues where they could have easily “upcharged” me for things I didn’t need and they never do. They are always honest. I won’t go anywhere else!

Highly recommended, especially for older cars that need to be kept on the road without spending too much on repairs. B&D can be trusted to only repair or replace what is necessary to fix the problem - quickly, competently, and at a very reasonable price.

They disconnected a control part on my ac so I get ac not heat. It's on a Buick lesabre. Was $60.00 to get the ac back on. To get the heat working in Florida will cost altogether $200. I don't plan on leaving town going north.

Brought my car in because half of AC was not cooling and needed an oil change. Was worried it was an actuator but ended up just needing a recharge. Was in an out in an hour and they were honest, informative and affordable.

I was told I had a busted head gasket and need a new engine. Was told the only engine they could find was a used one for $4,000. I went online and found about 5 different engines for $1,000.

Ask the community I called to ask what services did they offer and the guy that answered the phone was rude and inpatient he even Hung up the phone while I was still talking lol.
