There should be something lower than 1 star, like complete disgrace. So I booked a cabin at Big 4 Coburg Melbourne last Sunday with the receptionist Georgina. All good. The booking was specific. I was driving a truck from Sydney overnight, Thur arr around 9am Friday. I would then sleep at the holiday park until 6pm, Fri pack up and leave to drive a truck back to Sydney. Obviously driving a heavy vehicle requires a driver to be rested and alert When I got there they couldn't find the booking. I showed them the payment receipt and then the big 4 staff and manager insinuated I was lying. They kept saying because I didn't get a confirmation email they couldn't say I had made the booking. I was outraged, I needed to sleep to be safe on the roads and all I got was just because they took my money didn't mean anything without a confirmation email. I gave them the receptionists name but as it's her day off she was not contactable. Catch 22. She could prove I made the booking but they could not call on her day off so I couldn't prove I made the booking because they never sent the confirmation. Almost fraud. The constant insinuation that this was my fault and that I could be lying to them drove me insane. All I wanted was a bed to sleep so at 5pm I was rested to drive back to Sydney. I have never met such unprofessional, cold hearted people in my life. They didn't care that their mistake had now become a dangerous mistake that meant I would be driving without a good sleep after having just driven from Sydney. Obviously incredibly fatigued and not believing the absolute rubbish the manager was saying, I lost my temper and called him a F..... Amateur. I'm 62 and have travelled this entire country, never have I been called a liar especially after proving the accomodation took my money but had made a mistake and messed my booking up. Usually they apologise and bend over backwards to help you. The Manager at Coburg was the opposite, I couldn't prove I made a booking so he was under no obligation to do anything, I said call Georgina, he wouldn't and kept insinuating I could be lying. Catch 22 What sort of callous, rude, power hungry unprofessional Muppet calls a guest a liar. He never used those words but for 15 min instead of just helping me, he kept going on about he couldn't be sure what I was saying was true. Hey you Muppet that's calling people a liar. What's worse is my client who booked the job also booked another cabin because I had told my client they had a spare cabin. So I actually made them extra money. This was all booked last Sunday. I make them money and they call me a liar and kick me out The manager should be fired. How dare he keep saying that just because I told him the information he couldn't prove What I was saying was true. Are you insane mate. To the Chair of the corporation. Your company has employed a very unprofessional rude and down right insulting man. He thinks calling people liars, ( splitting hairs, insinuated for 15 min My word was worth nothing, ie, I'm a liar.) Is acceptable. He didn't care that his actions now put me at risk and the general public. All I wanted to do was sleep, I had paid for a cabin, I expected a cabin. So yes I lost my temper and abused him. But it's ok for him to call me a liar. I ask this man be fired or sent to retraining. I will make sure every person I know and especially a former client of mine who uses them regularly, that they are a disgrace. He threatened to call the police then refused to process my refund. Is this the image big 4 want for their parks. I still haven't got my regund Melbourne is booked out for a festival so I was starting to get panicky because now I had no where to sleep and. Was tosded out. The client put the gig back 2 hours to allow me to get some sleep. This had a roll on effect, affecting others. In my 35 years in the entertainment industry I have stayed in literally hundreds of hotels, motels and caravan parks. This is the first time this has ever happened. Fire him and find a manager who knows this behaviour is unacceptable.

Our first stay was great despite the spa being closed for no reason then getting kicked out at 4:30pm when it was working but we enjoyed it regardless, so we went for a second visit and the ensuite on our site was full of black mold, the spa was not working again and one of the grounds keepers said it was meant to be replaced 5 years ago. Our kids were in the spa when it was working and one of the grounds keepers shouted at our children who were behaving well and old enough to be unsupervised, he told them to shut up and stop talking back, and made them cry and frightened them! Instead of coming to us to talk to us he took it upon himself to shout at our children. When it was brought to the attention of reception staff she was rude and of course, sided with her staff member. We checked out immediately but lost something in the process and when we called to ask if we could check the site the next day they said someone was on it, we went to check in case because it’s worth a lot of money and there was nobody at all on the site! They lie and treat people extremely disrespectfully! Not to mention the black mold being a hazard! Will never return to this park! We are big 4 members and have never had this treatment

Excellent park. Small, but the motor home site that we had was paved and landscaped nicely. First class greeting from reception and excellent assistance by the gentleman who looks after the arrivals and grounds and who assisted us to manoeuvre our large motor home into a tight bay. He was so friendly and helpful. The pool area is fabulous (unfortunately too cold for us to use while there), upstairs movie lounge for the kids, games room, probably the best and most modern camp kitchen I’ve seen anywhere, clean facilities and excellent laundry equipped with fantastic dryers. The cabins looked to be quite modern and there is also a new shower/toilet block. The park is quiet and yet only a 15 minute walk to a tram stop that takes you to the CBD! The young lady at reception was most helpful and assisted us with ideas for our trip to the city. My only criticism is that the new shower/toilets are combined and unisex (which I don’t like). They also need more hooks to hang clothes and/or a shelf. This is only a small thing though as the older showers were still perfectly adequate. I did like the look of the new family bathroom though, with a bath for the little ones. A great idea. All in all, this is a first-rate park and I highly recommend it.

Park has a good swimming pool and spa and they are both heated. There is a playground for the children. There is a good kitchen area accessible to wheelchairs. There is also a laundry with coin operated washers and dryers. There are at the moment plenty of spaces for campers and caravans and lots of cabins to rent. There is access to buses which run every half hour that will take you to a tram stop for easy on access to the city. The only negative is there is no top sheet on the bed, the covers on the bed are a little short and I don't know how to get fresh towels. (haha) The TV in my room wasn't modern enough to get all of the stations. When I asked for a different one to watch the football on the weekend, the morning staff seemed eager to help but when I asked in the afternoon the staff member put his head out the back and said he was told that, "they had more to worry about than a TV so you can watch the football!"

Can't fault staff. Can fault misrepresentation of ensuite sites. Was assigned site 21, the only non concreted ensuite site I saw after a walk around. It was an absolute mud pit. The ensuite itself was nowhere near as nice as the pictures. I was refunded a night after raising the issues with front desk but I do question why I was assigned a mud pit in the first place when there were so many nice - and more importantly, completely vacant ensuite sites for duration of our stay. Was it because I indicated I have kids so I was given the furthest site away? How are sites assigned? My future travel plans with Big4 Melbourne are now in serious reconsideration after this experience. this only gets 2 stars, 1 for the person that handled the situation and 1 for amenities - could have easily been a 4 or 5 star review if not for the poor experience of Site 21

Upon arrival we were disappointed with size of cabin we had (1bed 5 berth). We requested an upgrade, to which we paid extra for. It has ended up being just as tiny as the first one with no balcony. Not sure how it was suppose to be an upgrade. Staff weren't too helpful. And to make matters worse the cleaning staff, and maintenance personnel are constantly accessing the side gate which is an inconvenience with noise and privacy concerns of having to have blinds shut constantly. Double mattress in second bedroom is as thin as a cardboard box/prison bed, all cabins are very dated despite flooring upgrade. Cleanliness 5/10 toilet smelt like a urinal. Facilities offered around the park however are great for kids.

Our second stay at this park. Glad to see maintenance going on but seriously not a good stay! Nice caravan sites, the grounds are nice and green. The building were being painted so most areas were off limits. Painting was being carried out to all the buildings. Cherry pickers beeping away for a good part of the day. Camp kitchen had limited access most of the day. Being externally painted. Kids were not allowed in games room as painting was being carried out outside. Power was off for a day. Which we knew once digging through emails. The chainsaws of the tree loppers and the follow on of a wood chipper were a bit full on for 2 days! When paying $120 a night you want a nice place to stay. Or warned your entering a industrial work site! It was not a very enjoyable stay!

  • Brett B

Fairly disappointed with our stay at Big 4 Melbourne. The powered site with ensuite was muddy, worn and in a terrible location (back of park next to muddy field). The floor of the site was uneven and simply not adequate for camping. Still not sure why they put us there in that condition. Wish we didn’t stay here for 3 nights ☹️ Not to mention our car got bogged on their lawns adjacent to the campsite. When we suggested that they put a sign up to alert other campers not to drive on it (it is a lawn for campsites), we were laughed at and told that “we made the sign, no one will park there now”. We will never come to this Big 4 again. Amenities are good, including heated spa-pool. That’s why I allocated the extra star.

Our stay at Big4 was remarkable. The cabin we booked was clean and spacious with all the amenities provided. We were warmly welcomed by the staffs during check-in and the lady was also provided me with a guide-book for all the activities going in and around Melbourne. Highly recommended property. There were swimming pool and sauna as well which we, unfortunately weren't able to use because we had a very tight schedule for visiting different places throughout Victoria. Very convenient location from the CBD, affordable and great value for money.

We preadvised that we would be getting in early and that our rooms would be organised ready when arrived and were were unnable to enter the park to drop our luggage off. The gentleman at the front was quite flustered at this (unsure if he was told) and was quite overwhelmed - our rooms were still ready really quickly. Thank you, overall a great stay

We were very happy with our stay, the caravan park was clean, well maintained, and the kids loved the playground and indoor games room. The ducks were lovely to watch in the morning! Staff were excellent, and were able to extend our stay an extra night. An easy drive into melbourne itself, was nice to be so close to the city with the camper. Whilst not the fault of the caravan park at all, just be aware that being in a city we found nights quite noisy, between the cars racing, planes and helicopters, and construction work early morning. We live regionally interstate so are used to quieter nights! All in all a great little spot to stay when visiting Melbourne.

  • Kevin Mahon

Great facilities but terrible customer service at reception. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained. We loved the outdoor pool and spa and the kids really enjoyed the games room. Unfortunately the sites are lacking space and there is very little privacy. Most staff around were pleasant and welcoming apart from the older lady on reception. She needs a refresher course in customer service and learn how to smile and talk to paying customers with respect. She failed with basic interactions on several occasions and probably needs moving away from a customer facing role for the good of your business .

Not a nice place at all. , staffs are not helpful, i stayed 4 days and room was never cleaned or serviced . No wifi in the cabin rooms Room was small and was never serviced during my stay of 4 days . Location is 1km ( 16 Minute walk) from nearest tram station .There is no insulation in the celling so it was really a loud noise through out whole raining night . overall not the good experience

Great park... public transport not far away to get into city centre. Tried 10+ showers so far and the water pressure absolutely sucks, the kitchen tap runs faster! For average $70/ night for a powered site the showers are just appalling... so disappointing! Facilities clean, great pool, nice looking park, overall great park but something seriously needs to be done about the shower pressure for the price you pay, its a joke!

Pros : - clean amenities but old - a Concept2 rowing machine in the gym ! - friendly staff Cons : - very very very bad wifi (welcome to 2023), an absolute shame especially in a big city like Melbourne - the price (100$ for 4x4m grass site for an unpowered campsite during low peak season) - just under (5m) high voltage electric lines, as an engineer trust me it is not very good for your health - an undersized swimming pool

  • Phil Walker

Park and amenities clean and well maintained. The powered site we are on is ridiculously small, even though we specified van size on booking (prepaid of course). Staff were unhelpful and unsympathetic for a move. Lucky we are only here for 3 nights. If you are going to stay here make sure that you get an assured site size to suit your van with room for the awning out and parking. We won't be staying here again.

AMAZING! Cabin was large, clean and a great place to stay! Staff were friendly and made our stay very enjoyable! (Extra added bonus was being shown where the cabin was by a buggy, they opened the door and gave us fresh milk) The park was quiet and we loved the pool! 15/10! We’ll definitely be back!

We stayed here for 4 days in a cabin. It is a nice and clean camp site. Very easy access to Melbourne via public transport. Pool area is nice. Playground a little bit only for small children, no jumping pillow and all of the playground made of plastic. The cabin me lived in was very nice and big. We had many ants though, both in kitchen area and bathroom. We also had possums on the roof a night.

  • H P

Had an overall great stay. Good facilities and well maintained amenities. I especially like the Camp Kitchen, looks new and very clean. The place is small but our camper trailer and UTE fitted well on our paved motor home site, so all good. This caravan park is close to city and groceries. There's also a nearby drive-in cinema

Great friendly staff. Good amount of space for each camper and has good facilities. Air-conditioning in main kitchen but also in TV room etc. They have some new showers and have a family bathroom with bath. Always do powered due to the difference in price which seems worth it for us. Pool was lovely at cool on a hot day and they have a spa pool so you can have a workout if you fancy it.

We swagged it; the site was pretty small considering the cost ($75/night) but it is peak season I suppose. Pool was nice but could be a little bigger considering the number of people using but refreshing all the same. Spa would have been great if it worked. Amenities clean and tidy, nice camp kitchen. We enjoyed our stay though.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. From them rushing to get a cabin ready for a super early check in with no notice from us, to Graham the maintenance man letting the kids 'help' him, this was a trip that could have been good but was made great by staff going the extra mile. Thanks so much! We will definitely be back!

We spent 5 nights here with an ensuite site. Like most Big 4's these days, it's seen better days. Maintenance is the big issue....whilst the en suite was clean, keeping the water at an even temp proved impossible, and the door has rotted, the grass overgrown. 5/10.

Great stay as always, lovely staff, clean amenities and central to what we want to do. We had an en suite site which was modern and clean. Our site was level, well shaded and easy to access. Even though there are many sites in this park, there is an appropriate amount of green space with mature trees, all very close to the city.

Friend of mine stayed here over Easter period, went down spent a day their. Place is filth, Big 4 should be ashamed at having there name on this park. Cabins way over priced for the state of them, absolutely disgusted. Mould build up in public toilets . Wouldn't even give you 1 star .
