Date and time: 3/31/2015, 4.40PM Location: 12255 Westheimer, Houston 77077, TX Banker: Ms. Felicia Ratliff Purpose: Notary Service Here is my experience with Bank of Texas. I was told by Customer service representative that I can get my documents notarized for free of cost if I become a customer of Bank of Texas. As this bank is very near to my residence, I opened an account and took my documents for notarization. To my surprise, the bank employee at this location, Ms. Felicia Ratliff rejected to notarize my documents saying that she personally doesn’t feel comfortable to notarize the photocopies of the documents even though I showed her the original documents and my government issued ID! Besides she asked me to show the documents in the bank’s hallway itself (without even offering me to sit and then show the documents) and rejected to notarize them immediately! FYI, 'A notary public is a third-party witness to not only the signature of a document but also the fact that all parties who signed did so willingly and under their own power. Having a document notarized does not necessarily mean the parties signing it understand what it says'. As I clearly mentioned her that notarizing the copies is something that she has to verify my signature in her presence and she has to sign and stamp but it has nothing to do anything with the content of the documents, she tried to reach to her colleagues to find out if she could notarize them. As she couldn’t reach them, she rejected again which clearly shows that she has no clue about notary. Moreover, the documents are issued by USCIS, Texas state government (Driving License) and my degree certificates issued by universities. At least I can understand if she said that she is not comfortable notarizing the documents issued by a different country other than USA. But she said she is NOT PERSONALLY COMFORTABLE to notarize the documents issued by US government while the Bank of Texas accepted the same document (Drivers License) to open my account !! Later I went to Bank of America and got the notary done in no time without any trouble. All they did is they verified my ID, BOA account, and my signature on the document copies before notarizing them. Also they are very cordial in offering seat and showing respect towards their customers. This clearly shows that Ms. Felicia Ratliff lacks knowledge on notary and doesn't know how to be respectful towards Bank of Texas customers. Also this makes me wonder if Bank of Texas has standard process and trained employees. Need justification on the following- 1. On what basis Ms. Felicia Ratliff rejected to notarize the copies of documents even though I showed her the originals issued by USCIS, Texas government? Do this bank has a standard process that their employees follow or do they give their employees freedom to do work based upon their personal comfortness? 2. Is it normal that their employees check the documents and reject the customers in the hall way itself even without offering a seat? Do they accept it as a part of good customer satisfaction? 3. Ms. Felicia Ratliff trying to reach her colleagues to find out if she could notarize the documents makes me question if this bank's employees are properly trained and have sufficient knowledge to serve their customers. A bank employee rejecting the customer's request in the name of 'PERSONAL COMFORTNESS' without any proper justification makes me feel UNCOMFORTABLE to continue as their customer. Also, this makes me rethink if this is the part of their business strategy to attract a customer by offering a free notary service and rejecting to notarize after opening an account in their bank !!
I have always felt secure with the Bank of Texas. I was a member of their parent bank Bank of Albuquerque for 10 years and when I moved here it was the only bank I considered. I do not like online banking as my primary method so it is refreshing to go to a bank and actually talk to a live person. As for those times I need to online bank, they have a very efficient online banking platform. And their customer representatives are always friendly and helpful and understand real people.
I was a customer of Bank of Texas way back 1986. Several years i moved to another address and had different bank then lately I received a letter from a group of company that the Bank of Texas had been trying to locate me to refund a certain amount to me. That was impressive of their honesty. I went back opened an account to this bank and the representative asked me to give her a name to be my beneficiary.
I found Mr. Akeem very friendly, caring and supportive who instantly facilitated and provided me with comprehensive information regarding the requirements, charges, choices and benefits of banking with the Bank of Texas. I felt very comfortable and well-informed while in the Bank of Texas particularily with Mr. Akeem and love to meet and call him again whenever any help may be required.
There's a guy named Alexander who works at the drive thru. He is always friendly, positive, overall great personality. He always gives excellent service! Honestly like us all I've had a mostly negative banking experience. Bank of Texas has been a breath of fresh air in the midst of an American banking swamp!!
Went to Bank of Texas on westheimer to cash a official check that is from their bank, they wouldn't cash it because of my temporary I'd doesnt have pic on it ,I had original I'd with me, I don't have a account with them, this is why I will not open a bank account with them, very rude people. Damn bank sucks
Worst bank ever. I kept this bank account for a "savings". What a horrible idea. Then the ATMs were always breaking down and I had to come inside and talk to someone about withdrawing money then come back again to get fees taken off because it was their fault for making me come inside.
Whatch out, they will deceive you into getting over dart protection and then won't even credit you some of the overdraft even when you have savings account and ask for protection from Saving but they never sing you up. Deal with them over the phone they don't care at this location.
Bank officer Akeem Porter was willing to spend an hour with me, as a good listerer, to help me open an account tailored to my needs and wishes as a cyber-challenged senior. Great at establishng a rapport. What a pleasure to not have to take a number and stand in a 2+ hour line!
Always greeted with great customer service when I step inside the bank. Never had a problem with the service. Thank God they changed the commercial lane into an ATM only lane! They are pretty quick to respond to inquiries on the mobile app as well.
Nice people. Easy access location, but the location has one terribly located ATM in the first lane behind the commercial door. You have to wait for the people who are handling commercial business to move out of the way to get to the ATM.
Just moved here to houston tx. and this was my bank of choice. So pleased with the customer service from Ms. Felicia. She is professional, thoughtful, patient and kind. You will love this bank...I promise
World class banking services at all times, every employees at this branch are top notch, words will fail me, if I have to describe Felicia; she is the best, she is an epitome of professionalism.
We recently opened an account at Bank of Texas on Westheimer. Everyone in the branch is super friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to make service as easy and convenient as possible.
I went into this bank needing change for a dollar to catch the bus and they told me they couldnt help me cause i didnt have an account with them and the lady was really rude about it.
The guys working at this location are amazing and friendly. the females are not and they’re socially awkward! don’t joke with them they take everything very serious! .
Mrs. Ratliff is a jewel to the banking industry. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I will continue banking with Bank of Texas. It’s a wonderful bank.
Felicia Ratliff was very professional with me and above all very kind and actively listened to my concerns. Best bank experience ever. Thanks.
Every time I walk into the office there is somebody ready to greet you and help in every possible way. I totally recommend it

At this location Alex is very helpful he always make sure his customers are happy. Customer service 100% Thank you Alex
The best experience I have ever had while trying to find a bank that suits my specific needs. Felicia is incredible.
Don't waste your time. This place is unprofessional and doesn't even keep a reasonable amount of cash on hand.
Felicia Ratliff was very professional with me and above all very kind and actively listened to my concerns.
I don’t understand how a bank can only have literally one atm that is located in the business lane.
This branch is closed. U have to drive around galleria to get to the next branch open right now.
Friendly and accommodating. I've been with Bank of Texas for 36 years.
